Monday

EJ barged into Sami's apartment and announced he had marvelous news. He just got back from the immigration and customs office, where he explained he was married with a child and was told they'd look into his case. All he and Sami had to do was show they were married in more than name only. Sami wondered what that entailed. "I want you to lie through your teeth," informed EJ. When Sami protested, EJ played the Johnny card and she buckled. Later, EJ and Sami arrived at Chez Rouge to meet Burke, the immigration guy. Maggie took them to their table, as Sami and EJ bantered and bickered. Burke asked about their daily routine. EJ said they looked after their kids and made love. "That is, when he's able to perform," cracked Sami. Burke asked why they had separate apartments. EJ insisted they lived together, he just had lots of stuff stored in his old place. He also told Burke he was looking for a job to support his family. Maggie interrupted, saying EJ had a phone call. EJ kissed Sami and left. Alone, Maggie told EJ there was no call and commented on how badly things were going. But, not to worry, she had a plan. Meanwhile, Burke asked a stunned Sami if she loved her husband.
Ava and Hope/Kayla discussed who was going to win Steve. Ava noted it wouldn't be good for anyone, if he chose "Kayla." Hope doubted Steve would want to be with Ava, after what she did. Namely, sabotaging their plane and killing three people. Ava insisted the plane wasn't supposed to take off. Steve was supposed to get off, reconcile with her, and live happily ever after. Ava said she was sorry about the deaths and asked Hope about her "father." Hope recounted how Grandpa Shawn gave up his life by giving his oxygen mask to Bo. Ava was visibly upset. She told Angelo she had to go out and asked him to watch "Kayla."

Nick arrived at the Kiriakis mansion and told Chelsea he had great news. He'd tell her, once Max and Stephanie got there. Morgan showed up to check on Chelsea, followed by Max and Steph. Max finally shared his news: he got both energy grants he applied for. Morgan was thrilled. Max, not so much, although he did congratulate Nick before saying he had to leave. Steph wondered about Max's reaction. Max said he was happy for Nick and exited. Max headed to his father's grave and told him about Nick's grant,
explaining his friend was smart but made mistakes and needed a little guidance. Max said he knew he'd never go back to school and was content running the pub, he just wanted to find something else so he could take care of Steph. Ava walked up and started questioning Max, who noted he was at his father's grave. Ava admitted she didn't know Grandpa Shawn and asked Max to tell her about him. Max recounted how his Pop was from Ireland, had a pub in Salem and six kids. Ava was moved. After Max left, Ava apologized to Grandpa Shawn for what she'd done. Later, in her limo, Ava chatted on the phone with her father and thanked him for tending to something for her. Then, she flashed back to a bedroom romp with Steve. Back to the present, Ava grew annoyed as she waited for Steve.
Max returned to the mansion, where Nick spewed mumbo jumbo about energy and hydrogen. Max chimed in with some facts, noting he'd learned them from watching TV. Morgan took Max aside and scolded him for nearly ruining Nick's project. Max maintained Nick was his friend. Morgan thought the whole thing was sketchy. Steph pulled Max away to talk.
Back at the Vitali house, Hope picked up a little sculpture and banged the window lock, desperate to escape. The window opened as an alarm sounded. Angelo rushed in and grabbed Hope, calling her a naughty little girl. Then, Angelo told Hope to sit back and relax, as he inched towards her.

Tuesday

At the hospital, Bo collapsed to the floor after pulling off his tubes and wires. Lexie and a nurse raced in. Bo muttered Hope was in trouble. Lexie asked what Bo meant. Remembering Steve's warning, Bo said he had a dream and was worried about his wife. Kayla arrived, and Lexie and Bo scolded her for not resting at home. Then, Lexie and Kayla scolded Bo for trying to get out of bed. When Lexie was called to tend to another patient, Kayla asked Bo what was going on with him and Steve. Bo dodged the question. "Then why were you trying to leave?" asked Kayla. Bo said he wanted to get up and get a little exercise. Kayla didn't buy it and wondered if it had something to do with Hope. Suddenly, Kayla doubled over in pain. Bo called for help, and Lexie raced in and told Kayla she should be in bed. Lexie called for a wheelchair and ordered Kayla to lie down while she paged her doctor. Kayla ordered Bo to stay put in his bed. Bo ordered Kayla to worry about herself and her baby.

Sami relented and told Burke, the immigration officer, she did love her husband. EJ returned from the pretend call Maggie had arranged and announced Mickey offered him a partnership in his firm. Burke was shocked to learn EJ was a lawyer. (Not to mention viewers!) Still, he didn't like the fact Sami and EJ lived in different apartments. They insisted they had the same home. Burke said he'd like to see their extended families more involved in their lives. Sami said her family loved EJ and stomped on his foot beneath the table. EJ excused himself while he walked off the pain. Burke told Sami he'd like to pay her and EJ one more visit before he turned in his report, then he left. EJ returned and he and Sami bickered. When he left, Maggie stepped in and she and Sami discussed Lucas and EJ. Sami didn't think it was a good idea lying to immigration about EJ getting a job with Mickey. On cue, Mickey arrived. Sami pointed out EJ didn't have a license to practice law in America. EJ said he did. Sami couldn't believe Mickey was okay with EJ working at his firm. Maggie admitted she'd pushed for it. EJ promised he'd prove his worth, then told Sami they had a couple of problems they needed to take care of — namely, their living situation and family. Sami assured her mother would help them, as she and EJ bickered and Mickey chuckled at their show. Finally, Sami told EJ they had to stop fighting. She had a plan and knew exactly what they were going to do next.

Hope occupied her time in captivity by flipping through a scrapbook she found under Ava's mattress. She marveled over clippings about Ava's past success in the corporate world. Meanwhile, Steve met Ava and asked about "Kayla." Ava assured she was fine. Steve wanted to see her; that was their deal. Ava reminded Steve they'd had a deal to get married a long time ago and she knew he still loved her. Steve pressed to see "Kayla." Ava reminded him that she had all the power. One call and her cousins would take "Kayla" far away. Steve brought up the plane crash. Ava insisted it was an accident; she'd never hurt anyone on purpose. Steve recounted the terror in the sky and Grandpa Shawn's death. Ava screamed at Steve to stop, insisting the crash was his fault. It was all a result of Steve leaving her at the altar. Steve suggested they work this out and asked what Ava wanted. Ava wanted to marry him. "I can be Patch for you," vowed Steve, making Ava promise she wouldn't hurt anyone else. Ava agreed, and they kissed. Soon, they arrived at the Vitali house. Steve and "Kayla" reunited. Ava said she'd been treating "Kayla" well, despite her mouthing off. Ava expressed her love for Steve, then accused "Kayla" of whipping him into a sniveling wimp. No problem, though, she could fix him. Suddenly, Ava realized Hope had been going through her stuff and got upset.

Back at the hospital, Bo climbed out of bed again, and urged Hope to hang on. He would find her.

Wednesday

Rolf muttered vocal exercises as he tried to lose his accent, per John's instructions. He told John a man called about a new Kiriakis shipment arriving at the docks. John said it wouldn't get unloaded. Marlena arrived, asked for some privacy, and Rolf split. She noted Sami had phoned and asked to meet her there. Soon, Rolf announced Sami and EJ, and Sami announced Marlena and John were the only ones who could help her. Sami noted immigration wanted to deport EJ. With Lucas in jail, EJ had been helping her with the twins and they needed a father. John didn't get it. Sami wanted to leave. Marlena urged Sami to give them a chance to help her. Sami went on about both her and EJ having trouble paying their rents. "So, you kids need money. Is that it?" asked John, who was eager to help, if it got them out of his hair. EJ explained it was more complicated. Immigration inspector Burke was skeptical of his and Sami's relationship and was putting pressure on them. Sami added Burke wanted them to prove they had a real marriage and to spend more time with their extended families. Sami asked if she and EJ could move in with Marlena. Marlena thought her place was too small, but offered up a solution: they could move in with John. Sami pulled Marlena aside and said her idea was nuts. Marlena admitted it might be unconventional, but could be good for everybody. Sami, EJ and the twins would have a place to stay and having the babies under his roof might help John regain his lost humanity. Sami suggested Marlena move in, too. Marlena realized if she did, she might be able to help John become the man he used to be. Meanwhile, John chatted with EJ about Stefano disowning EJ and John inheriting the DiMera empire. EJ insisted he was a changed man who wanted nothing more to do with his father. "Thanks to Stefano, I'm a changed man, too," retorted John, asking Rolf if he could handle taking care of him and the rest of his family. Marlena and Sami rejoined the men. Marlena told John they'd come up with a solution to their problem — she would move into the mansion, too. Rolf freaked, "She pulled a gun on me." "Actually, it was kind of sexy," smirked John, who agreed to think about the idea.

Victor and Philip chatted about John causing more trouble at the docks, when Chloe and Chelsea joined them for dinner. Soon, special guest Daniel arrived. Victor served champagne and toasted the wonder doc who saved Bo and Chelsea. The doorbell rang and it was Kate, checking on Chelsea. Victor insisted she stay for dinner. Daniel talked about a medical case he tackled in Italy and surfing in France. "To our knight in shining armor," toasted Kate. Then, she complimented Victor on the delicious meal, but said she needed to stop eating "or there goes my body." "Looks like you have no worries with that body," retorted Daniel. Dessert arrived and Henderson served a chocolate cake. Daniel revealed he'd been to one of Chloe's performances in Vienna. "You were absolutely terrific," praised Daniel, noting Chloe was the talk of Vienna. "They haven't stopped talking yet," grumbled Victor. Chloe excused herself. Philip went after her, advising Chloe not to let Victor get to her. "He thinks I had something to do with Brady's disappearance, but I didn't," insisted Chloe. Kate took Victor aside and advised him to stop insulting Chloe or he'd drive her into Philip's arms. Daniel was perplexed by the goings on. Chelsea filled him in on their family tree. Philip and Chloe returned. Victor apologized: "I am very sorry you married my grandson and that he's missing and that you feel I think you're responsible." The doorbell rang, annoying Victor, who just wanted peace and quiet. He and Chloe bickered. Finally, Victor announced, "I want peace in this family and I'm going to get it!" In walked Nicole carrying a little pooch. "I see Pooky and I are too late for dinner," she announced. "Guess we'll just have to settle for drinks."

Thursday

At the docks, Stephanie brought Max a hot chocolate. Steph thought Max must be exhausted working at the pub and the docks. Max said he looked forward to finishing his community service, but admitted it kept his mind off everything else. Max and Steph discussed Nick's grant and Chelsea's stay at the luxurious Kiriakis mansion. Steph said she'd rather be there with Max, who admitted he wouldn't have survived the last few weeks without her. "I'm not going anywhere," assured Steph. "You sure?" asked Max, noting his life was stuck in neutral, while Steph's was moving up. "Whichever direction we're moving, we're moving there together," said Steph. The dock boss interrupted and told Max to get back to work. Max lamented he was just a grunt on the docks and didn't want Steph coming down there anymore. It wasn't safe. Max said he loved seeing her, but not there. Steph agreed to his wishes, then took a call on her cell. It was the hospital: Kayla had just been admitted.

Ava urged Steve to kiss Hope/Kayla. Steve said he didn't like an audience. "That's not really what I remember," cooed Ava, suggesting "Kayla" needed to hear how great she and Steve were. Ava doubted "Kayla" was as much fun as she was and again urged Steve to kiss "Kayla." Steve obliged, whispering for Hope/Kayla to follow his lead. "Enough!" said Ava, noting they weren't as passionate as she'd expected. Steve asked Ava to let Hope/Kayla go. She had him now. Ava refused, certain "Kayla" would go to the cops, bring them there, and take Steve away. "I don't even know where I am," noted Hope/Kayla. Steve begged Ava to let Hope/Kayla go. Ava held firm as she battled a migraine, which she blamed Steve for. "That's why you have to pay," she barked, before inviting Steve to dinner. Ava commented on "Kayla's" tummy being flat. She asked Steve if he was sure "Kayla" was pregnant. Steve assured she was. Ava wanted to have a doctor check "Kayla" out. Hope/Kayla insisted she was fine. Ava called Angelo and asked him to take "Kayla" away. Then, she moved in on Steve and they kissed. Meanwhile, Angelo warned Hope/Kayla to stay on Ava's good side or bad things would happen to Steve.

Nicole asked Henderson for her usual drink, but Victor said it wouldn't be necessary — Nicole was leaving. Nicole ignored him and asked Chloe where Brady was. Kate interrupted, wanting to know what Nicole was doing there. "Salem's always been my home," noted Nicole. "Get out!" ordered Victor. Nicole wouldn't budge. She was Victor's wife and hadn't recalled signing any divorce papers. Then, she ogled Daniel and introduced herself. Chelsea took Daniel aside and explained how Nicole fit into their family, while Victor reminded Nicole she'd tried to kill him. Nicole was glad she didn't. Otherwise, who would take her in? Victor took out his checkbook. Nicole insisted this wasn't about money and suggested Henderson get her room ready. Victor asked Nicole to step outside to discuss things privately. Kate, Philip and Chloe went off about Nicole. Daniel noted she was "pretty hot." Kate warned Daniel to stay away from her. Chelsea told Daniel that Nicole tried to kill Victor and was also married to Lucas. Kate thought Chelsea looked tired and convinced her to head to bed. Meanwhile, Victor and Nicole argued. Nicole noted her attorney assured her she'd get a nice settlement from Victor. Alone, Daniel questioned Philip and Chloe about Nicole "killing" Victor. Then, Daniel decided to call it a night and stopped by Chelsea's room to say goodbye. Daniel told Chelsea he wanted her to come to the hospital for a checkup and regular visits. Chelsea promised she would. Victor and Nicole returned to the dining room, where he announced Nicole would be staying put, to everyone's dismay. Victor told Nicole she might have won this round, but the battle wasn't over. Nicole said she intended to win and take home all the spoils.

Friday

Marlena and John chitchatted before she headed off to work. As Marlena left, Philip slipped in and told John they needed to talk. Philip brought up their shipment operations and John having Paul in his pocket. Then, he handed John the newspaper. "Paul Hollingsworth has been indicted on charges of graft," read John, noting he still claimed the docks as DiMera territory. Philip suggested they work out a mutually beneficial agreement. "That's boring," said John. Philip warned John he was making a mistake. He and his dad had already properly congratulated Paul's replacement. John noted they might have the upper hand now, but the game was still young. After Philip left, John vowed to bring the Kiriakis empire to its knees.

Nicole and Victor bickered over breakfast. Chloe emerged and got into it with Nicole, so Victor split. Alone, Nicole asked Chloe if she'd killed Brady or hired someone to do it. "Neither," retorted Chloe. Nicole harped on Chloe, who yelled for her to shut up. "Or what, you'll kill me, too?" asked Nicole. Chloe insisted she wasn't a murderer, and the two gals spat. Chloe accused Nicole of being the one who tried to botch her reconstructive facial surgery. "Looks like your face could use some more work," snapped Nicole. A food fight ensued. Philip interrupted and ended up splattered with orange juice.

Victor arrived for his therapy session with Marlena and spilled all: his life was a disaster. Brady was still missing, Chloe was living under his roof, and now his trampy ex, Nicole, was back. "Good thing the mansion is so big," cracked Marlena. Victor changed the subject to his new business rival, John.

At the hospital, Kayla awoke to find Stephanie there. Kayla assured she was fine. Steph scolded her mother for risking the health of her baby. "I needed to check on Bo," responded Kayla. Kayla noted how odd Steve had been acting lately and asked Steph to tell her where he was. Steph didn't know. Kayla knew, however, that Steph was aware of what was going on with Steve and insisted she 'fess up. "Dad was just trying to protect you," noted Steph, before spilling all about psycho Ava tracking down Steve and wanting him back. Kayla vowed to find Steve, so they could figure out how to deal with Ava.

Chelsea scolded Bo for risking his health by trying to get out of bed. What could be so important that he'd jeopardize his life? Dr. Daniel arrived and asked Chelsea to leave so he could examine her dad. Daniel wondered how Bo was feeling. Bo wanted to talk about Chelsea's crush on the doc. Daniel didn't see it, but told Bo not to worry. He and Chelsea were just friends. Bo asked when he was getting out of there. "Maybe a few weeks," answered Daniel. Bo asked if there was a way to speed things up. Daniel said no. If Bo didn't allow his body time to heal, he could have some serious setbacks. On his way out, Chelsea questioned Daniel about Bo and asked him to have coffee with her. Daniel agreed to go "as friends." Later, Caroline visited, who revealed Hope was in danger. Bo begged his mom to help get him out of there.

Angelo brought Steve back to Hope/Kayla's room. Steve said his and Ava's dinner never happened. Ava interrupted, wondering what they were talking about. Steve claimed Kayla was jealous and didn't believe he and Ava didn't have dinner. "You couldn't keep your hands off him, could you?" snapped Hope. Ava suggested she and Hope/Kayla talk privately and summoned Angelo to get Steve. Alone, Ava said she and Steve had made love and asked what Hope/Kayla wanted to do now that she knew the truth. Hope/Kayla boo-hooed about Steve's lingering feelings for Ava, announcing the pair could have each other. Steve returned and Hope/Kayla smacked him, revealing Ava's revelation that they'd had sex. "She's lying," insisted Steve. Hope/Kayla said she could see Steve had feelings for Ava. Steve mentioned their bun in the oven. "You're not raising this child," announced Hope/Kayla. Steve was stunned. Suddenly, his cell rang. Ava pulled out a gun and had Angelo hand Steve his phone, warning if he tried anything funny, she'd shoot Hope/Kayla. Steve answered to hear Kayla asking what was going on. Meanwhile, Ava demanded to know who was on the phone.
