DAYS Week of May 4, 2009
Monday
Stephanie was alarmed when Philip flatlined but it turned out she was just having a bad dream. Philip woke her up and assured her he would be fine and would never leave her. She asked what he planned to do next regarding the DiMeras. He didn't want to say to keep her out of it. She was upset and suggested that they leave town. He said they couldn't. She walked out on him.
At the hospital, Kate finally nailed Daniel for sleeping with Chloe. He asked what she planned to do. Kate said she wasn't sure. They argued. Daniel defended his ex lover and warned Kate that she would regret going after Chloe. He added that if Kate made trouble for Chloe, it would upset Lucas. "If you think you can punish Chloe while your son floats around on a pink trust-fund cloud, forget it. She hurts. He hurts. Trust me on that," Daniel explained. Kate went into see Philip afterward and could see that he was upset over Steph.
Father Matt talked to Chloe about keeping secrets in a marriage, just as Lucas approached. He assumed Chloe was referring to EJ and Nicole. Father Matt told the couple that he would be happy to officiate if they chose to get married in a proper ceremony in his church. Lucas was jazzed about the idea, but Chloe was less so. They went to eat at the Brady Pub. Lucas worried that his wife wasn't happy, but she insisted she was. He admitted that he had been keeping things from her. She assumed it was about Sami. He said it wasn't. Chloe asked to change the subject from Sami and kissed her hubby.
Sami entered the Java Café in time to hear Rafe promise Arianna that nobody would ever take her place in his heart. Arianna left. An irate Sami approached Rafe and laid into him for flirting with the waitress. He explained that he knew Arianna forever, then casually mentioned that she was his sister. Sami was happy to hear he had someone to talk to and confide in. Sami brought up EJ again. Rafe asked if she was truly over her ex. She told him that she couldn't hate EJ and would never be able to, adding that she was really into Rafe. Rafe couldn't understand how Sami could view EJ in any positive light. She explained it was because of Johnny. She thought he was going to leave her, but he said he would be crazy to. They flirted and kissed.
Chelsea packed up her things at her apartment. Max came in to say good-bye. She told him that Billie would have to have a lot of operations so she didn't know when she would be back. He suggested coming to London but she pointed out that he had med school and Melanie. He argued that she didn't want him to come. She said that was far from the truth and that she worried he would be alone and that if they broke up, she would feel guilty. Chelsea went to the hospital to get her last paycheck. Steph came home and saw the suitcases. She asked what was up. Max told her Chelsea was leaving town. She got upset. He realized there was more that she was upset about and she told him about her problems with Philip.
Chelsea visited Philip, who called Billie to check in. Chelsea asked where Steph was. He said he didn't know. She headed home and talked to Max again. He said he would be waiting for her when she got back. They kissed and said good-bye. Stephanie went back to the hospital and assured Philip that she loved him. He was thrilled. A nurse came in with meds. Stephanie left. Philip asked what it was and the nurse told him it was a stronger antibiotic. He passed out. "Good night, sweet prince," she said, then put a pillow over his face.
Kate came upon Chloe leaving a message for Daniel. Kate told Chloe that she just had an interesting conversation with Daniel. "I told him how much I owed him for everything he's done for my family. But you, you I don't owe a damn thing," Kate declared.
Tuesday
Hope encountered Melanie at the hospital and told her that Philip had a new nurse. "How new?" an alarmed Hope asked. Inside Philip's room, the "nurse" administered a drug to make him pass out, then put a pillow over his face. A gun-wielding Hope went in with the guard in tow and stopped the attempt on Phil's life. He wasn't breathing, so Melanie quickly gave him mouth-to-mouth. Philip came to and accused her of kissing him. Hope rushed in with Dr. Baker, who declared Philip alert and okay. Philip told Hope that the DiMeras were responsible. Hope beefed up the security around his room. When Hope left, Philip got out of bed and ripped his IV out, but was caught by Melanie, figuratively and literally.
Stephanie returned home to find a teary Chelsea on the couch. She was sad about leaving for London. Melanie called Steph to tell her about the attempt on Philip's life. Steph and Chelsea rushed to the hospital. Steph entered Phil's room and found a weak Philip in Mel's arms. Mel tried to explain, but Stephanie wasn't jealous. Melanie excused herself so Phil and Steph could be alone. He told her that he felt like a sitting duck. She had an idea and hurried out.
Chelsea ran into Hope and asked about Billie. Chelsea said she was leaving for London that day. Bo was out of town, so Hope said he would call him to get him back to town to say good-bye. Chelsea thanked Hope for everything she had done for her. Hope told Chelsea she was proud of her and that she'd miss her. "You are my daughter. You know that," she smiled. Chelsea told Hope she loved her and hugged her.
Kate confronted a confused Chloe on the docks and railed at her for being a lying bitch. Chloe asks what she did wrong and suggested she and Kate go out to coffee to talk about it. Kate scoffed at her and pushed Chloe to tell the truth about what she did. Chloe didn't know what she was getting at, so Kate finally exploded. "I'M TALKING ABOUT YOUR AFFAIR WITH DANIEL," Kate shouted, adding that Daniel confirmed it. "I didn't think you knew," Chloe stuttered. Kate reamed her out for being in Daniel's apartment during the explosion and kissing the doc in the park for everyone — and Kate — to see. Chloe got teary and begged Kate not to tell Lucas. Kate said she wouldn't hurt her son that way. "I love him," Kate said. "You, on the other hand..." Kate then axed Chloe from the Home & Hearth TV show. Lucas came upon them and asked what was going on. "Do you want to tell him or should I?" Kate queried. Chloe covered that she wasn't right for the hosting gig. Kate agreed and criticized everything about Chloe, which didn't please Lucas. Kate took off to find a replacement for Chloe, leaving a bewildered Lucas with his wife. Chloe insisted she was glad it happened so she could get her life with Lucas and Allie back. Lucas told her he needed to make a call but asked her to meet him at the Pub. He called Kate and demanded to know the real reason she fired Chloe.
Nicole walked into the living room and overheard EJ on the phone. EJ was asking someone about Dr. Baker's expenses, which alarmed Nicole. She asked why he was investigating her ob/gyn. He said it was business and not her concern. She pressed him, then grabbed papers from EJ's desk. They outlined all of Baker's debts. EJ explained that Stefano, not EJ, is investigating the shady doc. Nicole wondered what the Phoenix's interest in Dr. B was. "It could just be father being father," said EJ. EJ then asked why Nicole fired the doc. She lied it was because EJ didn't like him. Nicole sweet-talked EJ into dropping the investigation. He pointed out that Stefano might start it up again when he returned. Sydney cried, so Nicole went to check on her. EJ closed the doors behind his wife and wondered aloud why Nic was so hot for him to drop the investigation of Baker.
EJ freaked out when he heard the second attempt on Phil's life was a bust. Stephanie showed up at the door. EJ answered it and Steph yelled, "It stops now. Do you hear me? It stops now!" EJ played dumb, which only annoyed Steph more. "Stop sending people after Philip," Steph implored him. EJ calmly told her to beat it, then called his father and left an urgent message.
Nicole called Dr. Baker at the hospital and asked him to meet her in 10 minutes at the Java Café. "Excuse me, but I'm on duty here, Nicole," he replied. She told him to take a break, called out to her bodyguard and headed out. Once at Java, Nicole revealed that Stefano was investigating the doc and urged him to leave town. He said he needed the money from his job and couldn't. Nicole pushed, so Dr. B realized Nic was only concerned about herself, and the truth about the baby coming out. "I'm not leaving town," Baker insisted.
Wednesday
At the hospital, Victor teed off on the guard for letting someone in who almost killed Philip, then went into check on his son. Vic told Philip that they couldn't trace the assassin back to the DiMeras, but vowed to make them pay. Brady entered and asked if the men were plotting which DiMera they planned to kill next. He asked when it would all end. An exasperated Victor asked why Brady was saying such crazy things and wondered if he was on drugs again. Philip intervened; Victor apologized to his grandson. Philip suggested it might be better for Brady not to be involved, but Brady noted that as part of the Kiriakis clan, he was already involved. He wished for a more peaceful solution to the family feud. Victor declared that Brady was either in or out and until he figured out which he was, he should stay out of it. Once again, Brady tried to change their minds about exacting revenge, but Victor wouldn't budge.
At the Java Café, Nicole looked down at the table and realized Dr. Baker had left his keys. Sami and Rafe came in, acting all happy and romantic, which irked Nicole. She approached the duo and spewed nasty comments. Sami wondered why Nic was so angry, considering she should be a happy newlywed. Sami went to get a table while Nicole exchanged barbs with Rafe. Sami then said hi to Sydney, who was fussy. Sami picked her up and happily held her. Nicole turned around and flipped out. She took the baby back and told the guard to never let Sami near Sydney. Nicole issued a warning to Sami after to stay out of her life, then looked out the window and spied Dr. Baker. She caused a diversion so Baker would leave. Nicole rushed out after him. Sami noted to Rafe that Nicole was "certifiable." Nicole found Dr. B on the docks and returned his keys to him. She was rattled from the close call with Sami. He pointed out that it was only a matter of time before Sami saw him. Nicole vowed that it wouldn't happen. Dr. B told her, once again, that he had no plans to leave town and took off. Nicole picked up Sydney and said if she had to, she'd take care of things with Dr. B herself.
Back at the Pub, Rafe entertained Allie and Johnny with a magic trick before they were set to leave for the county fair. Arianna came in and Rafe went to introduce her to Sami, but she said she already knew who Sami was. Arianna pulled Rafe aside and warned him that he couldn't be with "that woman." Rafe told Sami that they should get going. He then asked Sami to go on a special date with him later. She said she couldn't wait.
Max and Chelsea waited at the airport for Bo to arrive to say good-bye. Bo made it in time and sat down with his daughter for a tearful farewell. "You're a part of me, a part of my heart. You always will be. I love you," he said. They hugged. After, Max gave Chelsea some magazines and water for the plane. He told her he didn't want her to go. She promised to call him when she got to London. Through tears, they kissed good-bye. "I'll be waiting for you when you get back," Max promised. "You better be," she smiled, then got on board.
Brady called Bo and blabbed that Victor and Philip were plotting revenge. Bo assured him he'd take care of it and headed to his brother's hospital room. Victor asked how the investigation was going. Bo said if there was a connection to the DiMeras, they'd find it. Philip scoffed that it would just give the DiMeras more time to cover their tracks. Vic asked if Bo was planning to lecture them. Bo responded that he was trying to talk some sense into them. "Brady's words exactly," Victor mused. "You two haven't, by any chance, been conferring, have you?" Bo warned them to drop whatever they had planned and let the police handle it. Victor asked if Bo would feel the same way if Hope, Chelsea or Ciara were in danger. Bo noted that he couldn't protect them and they were on their own. Victor left to take a phone call. Bo reminded Philip that when it came to police matters, "I'm the commissioner, not your brother."
Thursday
Victor picked up Philip at the hospital to take him home to the manse. Stephanie was waiting for her beau, with a smile and a welcome home sign. Victor asked Stephanie if he could talk to his son alone. She balked at being asked to leave and told Mr. K that he had "the wrong girl." An irate Victor asked if she was drinking. Philip mediated and asked Steph if he could have a few minutes with his father. She said okay. Philip asked how their plan was progressing. Victor said phase one was complete. Steph returned. Philip asked if she was listening in; she insisted she wasn't. They made up and kissed. She opened his shirt, spied his bandage and had a flashback to seeing him in the hotel bed, shot and bloody. She was sorry she spoke to Victor the way she did, but Philip said he probably respected her for it. Stephanie revealed that she visited EJ earlier and gave him hell. Philip freaked out on her. She told him to calm down and explained that they were in it together. He replied that she was romanticizing everything and he didn't want her to get hurt. She knew there was a plan afoot and asked what was up.
Mia hung out with Will while Sami got ready for her date with Rafe. The teens headed to the Java Caf. A nervous Sami waited for Rafe to arrive and debated her choice of clothing. When Rafe got there, he wasn't as dressed up as she was. He told her it was fine, but suggested she bring a sweater. They hiked to a spot where he set up a picnic under the stars. Sami heard water splashing and Rafe said it was probably steelhead trout jumping out of the water. She went to see and fell in the river. Rafe fished her out. They kissed.
At Java, Mia sang to Grace. Will came over with the "beverage of choice" for the AP English study hour. They talked about the baby. Will told Mia that she helped him appreciate his little sis. Two students, Kinsey and Tad, came in and spied Mia and Will and came over. Kinsey asked Mia if she remembered her. Mia and Will introduced the kids to Grace. Kinsey noted that she and Mia were in the same drama at Salem West. Mia said she never took drama. Kinsey snarked that Mia caused a lot of drama. Mia excused herself. Kinsey blabbed that Mia dropped out of school midterm and never came back. They assumed she was doing drugs and went to rehab. Tad told her it wasn't cool that she was gossiping. An angry Will defended his gal pal. Tad told Kinsey they should "bounce" and took off. Mia returned to the table and noticed that Will seemed distracted. He told her what Kinsey said and asked if it was true. She lied and said it was, then left, upset.
EJ called the hospital and asked Dr. Baker to come to the manse. A nervous Nicole asked her husband what he was doing. "He's a charming man. I crave his company," EJ replied. Nicole didn't think it was funny and wondered what happened to EJ calling off the investigation into the doc. EJ told her his father was missing. He refused to believe anything bad had happened to Stefano, then said he planned to grill Dr. B hard. The doc arrived. EJ suggested that Dr. B had something to do with Stefano's disappearance. Nicole entered, but EJ told her it was a private conversation. She didn't leave. Dr. B noted that it seemed likely that the Kiriakises took Stefano. EJ's cell phone rang. It was Victor, who summoned Elvis to the pier. EJ left. Nicole urged Dr. Baker to leave town once and for all. He told her to stop panicking and noted that he had debts to pay. She said she would give him money and asked him to follow her. They went up the stairs. He asked how much she could give. She offered $15K. He said it was $50K or bust, then turned around. She reached for his shoulder and he fell down the stairs.
At the pier, Victor revealed to EJ that he had Stefano.
Friday
Sami and Rafe were about to have sex at their picnic spot when a park ranger showed up to arrest them for being in a restricted area. They got dressed and joked about their adventure.
Stephanie pushed Philip to tell her what was really going on with the DiMeras. He said that what he and Victor were doing was for the greater good. He asked Steph to move in with him. She thought it was a big step. He said he needed her and kissed her. She said yes, she'd move in with him. She went to get glasses for champagne to celebrate. Philip made a call and asked if "it" was done. Steph came back in and overheard. She asked if the call was about the DiMeras. Philip took her hand and took her outside to show her what the call was about. It was an elaborate dinner set up on the terrace. Philip thanked Owen the gardener for helping. Steph was surprised and thrilled. Philip began a very romantic speech to her, which ended with him pulling out a ring, getting on one knee and proposing. An ecstatic, teary Steph said yes.
At the pier, Victor told EJ that he had Stefano. EJ didn't believe him at first. Victor produced proof — Stefano's Phoenix ring — and told EJ he'd bring him to his father. Two guards held EJ. Victor took his cell phone, but EJ said he'd need it to call Nicole. That gave Vic quite the chuckle. They blindfolded Elvis and took him to a dark room. He turned on the light and saw a figure on the bed, covered with a sheet.
Dr. Baker fell down the stairs at the DiMera manse after arguing with Nicole. She feared he was dead, then checked his pockets for any incriminating evidence against her. He grabbed her arm, surprising her. She pulled away from him and he passed out. Sydney began to cry. Nicole was about to check on the baby when Mary came in and spied Dr. B. Nicole called out for her to call an ambulance. Mary performed CPR on him while Nicole pretended to give him mouth-to-mouth. The paramedics arrived with the cops, who questioned Nicole. Mary backed up Nic's story that it was an accident. At the hospital, the doctor told Nicole that Baker could have memory loss when he regained consciousness. Nicole called EJ, who didn't pick up. She left a message for her hubby about Dr. Baker. Nicole went into the doc's room later. He came to and asked where he was at what happened. She said he had an accident. "An accident? You tried to kill me, bitch," he responded.
Maggie arrived at the Jave Caf and chatted with Will, who was still rattled from his earlier encounter with Mia. Will took Grace home. Maggie came upon Mia and introduced herself. Maggie asked if she wanted to have hot chocolate, but Mia said she wasn't in the mood. Maggie urged her to talk about why. Mia explained that kids were gossiping about her but what they were saying wasn't as bad as the truth. They sat down and had a friendly chat.
Rafe and Sami came home and were making out. Will came in, holding Grace. Awkward! Sami held the baby and realized she had a fever. She called the doctor. Sami had to go to the pharmacy; Will offered to go for her. After he left, Sami and Rafe got busy on the couch. Grace began to cough so Sami checked on her.
Will went to the Java Café and ran into Maggie. He said he was waiting for Grace's prescription to be ready. Maggie told him if Sami needed help, she should call her, and left. Will called Mia and left her an apology message. Mia spied him from across the room and sneaked out. Will went home and found Sami and Rafe playing a game.
