Days Of Our Lives Recaps

DAYS Week of Nov. 16, 2009

Monday

Bo returned home and was alarmed when he couldn't find Carly, who had been doing some Web surfing on a laptop. He retrieved his gun from the locked drawer and rushed out.

Carly comforted Mia on the pier. Mia thanked her. Carly said she was happy to talk. Bo came upon them chatting and pulled Carly away. He was upset that she had slipped out, and reminded her that there were murder charges against her. Carly hugged Mia and took off with Bo.

Kate encountered EJ in the DiMera living room. She poured herself a drink; EJ noted that it was a little early. She said she was having a bad day and listed off her problems, including the drama surrounding Sydney's whereabouts. EJ asked about it so Kate told him what she knew was going on. She added that Stefano tried to have Rafe killed. "Aren't you curious why?" she asked.

Rafe demanded that Chloe hand over Sydney, but she refused. They fought. Daniel came in and told Chloe it was okay to give Sydney to Rafe. "It's Sami's baby; Nicole stole her," Rafe declared. Dan backed his story. Chloe was confused, then had a flashback of slipping to Nicole many months earlier that Sami was pregnant by EJ. "I'm the one that set this nightmare into motion," Chloe told Dan after Rafe left. Chloe headed to the DiMera mansion and told EJ he had to talk to Sami and Nicole. "I can't be the one to tell you," she explained. "It has to be them."

A clearly angry Sami came home to find Nicole in her townhouse. Nicole hid the $50,000 she swiped and tried to make a quick getaway, but Sami blocked her path. "I can hear the wheels turning in your head... ‘What's going on?' ‘What does she know?' " Sami told her. Sami revealed that Rafe didn't die and had told Sami the truth about why Nicole wanted him dead. Sami then excoriated Nicole for how she betrayed her. "Your life is about to be a living hell," she promised. Nicole tried to discredit Rafe's claim, but Sami wasn't buying it anymore. She told Nicole there were DNA tests done and it was over. She also recounted all of the lies and schemes Nicole had executed to carry out her plan. Nicole remained calm and tried to leave, noting that Sami was out of control. Sami grabbed the phone to call the police, but Nicole took it out of her hands. "I will not let you do that!" she yelled. They fought some more. Sami slapped Nicole, demanding that she say that Sydney was Sami's daughter, but Nicole refused. Sami slapped her again, hard, and restated her demand. Nicole began to cry. "Sydney is yours," she said in a whisper, then began to sob. Nicole ranted how unfair it was that Sami got pregnant when Nicole couldn't and how she wanted EJ to have his biological daughter. Sami was astonished that Nic was trying to defend herself. She demanded to know where the baby was. Nicole refused to tell her. More shouting ensued. Nicole pulled something off the desk to hit Sami when Rafe walked in with Sydney. Sami broke down in tears at the sight of her daughter.

Arianna's phone rang while she was making out with Brady. It was Troy. He urged her not to pick it up, so she didn't. They resumed kissing, but he said he was going to go. He vowed her drug dealing days would end soon and explained that he was going to talk to Victor. She urged him to be cautious. Brady arrived home. Vic told Brady that the last thing he should be doing is spending time with a drug dealer. They bickered. Brady returned to Ari's room with Victor's laptop and found some deleted shipping files in it. They opened the file, only to discover it was in code. Brady was determined to uncover what was going on.

Vivian got word of Carly's whereabouts. She also got a photo on her phone of Carly and Mia hugging. Viv advised her henchman, Gus, to follow Mia. A rattled Mia went to work at Java, where she broke something. Vivian approached her and asked why she was upset. She offered to help. Mia asked if Viv wanted something, so she ordered espresso "to calm my nerves." Viv then called Gus and gave him an update.

Carly and Bo headed home. She was upset by the way Chad treated Mia. He advised her to focus on her own problems. She said she could be extradited and needed to do what she came to Salem to do before that happened. She vented that she hated being so dependent on Bo. Bo then got a surprising call about Lawrence.

Tuesday

Rafe, holding Sydney, walked into the townhouse during Sami and Nicole's fight. Sami began to cry at the sight of her daughter, as did Nicole. Nicole tried to take Sydney, but Rafe placed the baby in Sami's arms. She couldn't stop smiling. "She's mine," wept Nicole and made a move toward the baby. Rafe told her it was all over but she just sobbed. She grabbed her things and ran out ... right into EJ. He asked her what was wrong. Rafe urged her to tell him but she just hurried off. At the pier, Nicole collapsed and said she was being punished over and over again for trying to give him his daughter. EJ comforted her then turned angry over what she had done. She finally confessed to the baby switch, saying she gave Sami's baby to EJ. He was confused. She tried to tell him what she did but couldn't get the words out. He shouted at her, demanding an explanation. With a shaky voice, she told him the whole, sordid tale. "You switched the babies?" he asked, stunned. She said she did it so he could have his child, the one Sami was going to keep from him. With pent-up fury, EJ took off his wedding ring and threw it into the Salem river. "Where is my daughter?" he demanded. They struggled; she confessed that the baby was with Sami. Nicole broke down; the cops arrived to arrest her.

Through tears, Sami told Rafe that it was because of him that she had Sydney back. She apologized for not trusting him when he was missing in action. He told her she was being silly. Rafe got a call. It was a cop pal of his. "We should go," Rafe told Sami. They arrived on the pier to see Nicole in handcuffs. EJ looked at his daughter in Sami's arms.

Mia approached Will at the Brady Pub and told Will that Chad wasn't Sydney's father. They had an awkward chat. She left. Maggie caught her outside. Mia lamented that she would have to break their dinner date. Maggie asked why. Mia told her it's because Will is inside and he hates her. Maggie took Mia in her arms. She suspected there was more to the story with Nicole and the baby. Mia confessed there was, but said she couldn't tell what it was because she gave her word to Nicole.

Chloe found Will at the Pub and asked for Lucas's number in rehab. Will pointed out that Chloe was the reason he was there and refused to give it up. Chloe explained that it had to do with Sami and Lucas was going to need to be there for her. Chloe suggested Will head home to see his mother. Chloe then called Nicole and left her a message, saying she couldn't believe Nicole lied that Sydney was Mia's baby when she was really Sami's. Mia overheard and confronted Nicole. Maggie walked in in time to hear Mia ask what Chloe meant. She ordered Chloe to tell Mia the truth.

Hope colored with Ciara at the Kiriakis mansion. Ciara told her mother that she wanted to go home. Hope promised she'd take Ciara to see Bo soon.... Justin was faxed papers at the police station. He summoned Bo and Carly and told them that "the real killer" confessed to Lawrence's murder. Bo pointed out that someone was messing with Carly's mind. They headed back to the Brady house. Carly told Bo that she planned to move out, but he said no because he still had to protect her. She sighed that she didn't need Bo with her all the time; he needed to focus on Hope.

Gus found Vivian at Java Café and told her, "It is done." She was pleased, explaining to Gus that "our faithful retainer has done my bidding and admitted to Lawrence's murder." Vivian noted that she had her own plans to make Carly pay. She went to the Brady home holding a flowering plant; Carly answered the door.

Justin went home and told Hope that everything had changed and explained that someone had confessed to the murder. "So Carly's free to go now," Hope smiled. "Ostensibly," Justin replied, noting that Carly was still in danger from the person who falsely confessed. Hope was bummed that Bo didn't tell her the news himself. "My marriage is ending," she cried. Justin told her she wasn't alone. "You have me — and you always will," he declared, rubbing her arms. She hugged him. Bo spied the whole exchange.

Wednesday

At the Kiriakis mansion, Bo was unsettled to see Justin hugging Hope, promising to always be there for her. He made a snide remark. Hope wasn't amused. Justin excused himself, but not before telling his cousin that he was acting like a "complete jerk." Hope seconded that. Bo told Hope he was there to tell her that Carly was exonerated, but Hope replied that she already knew from Justin. "Of course," Bo huffed. They bickered over Justin. "I'm just wondering ... Would he be so attentive and sympathetic if you weren't drop-dead gorgeous and so much fun to be around?" Bo queried. "That was very smooth, I think," she replied, but pointed out that she knew Bo was playing her and Carly would still need him, now more than ever. Hope asked if Bo would tell her Carly's big secret, but he said no because it wasn't his secret to tell. More arguing took place. Bo stormed out. Justin came in to check on Hope. After, the doorbell rang. Justin was served with divorce papers from Adrienne. Hope asked if he was okay; he admitted he wasn't.

Carly and Vivian had an uncomfortable "reunion." Vivian acted as though she was there to mourn Lawrence with her. The women played a cat-and-mouse game in which Vivian apologized for trying to have Carly killed. Carly wasn't buying her act. They exchanged barbs. Bo came home and was surprised to see Vivian there. She hurried off. Bo was concerned that Viv was in town. He thought Carly should leave Salem, but she said she wouldn't. "And you know why," she added cryptically.

Vivian went to the Java Café. Gus met her there. Vivian told him she suspected Carly was in town for another reason besides Lawrence.

Maggie pushed Chloe to tell Mia the truth about what happened with Grace and Sydney. Chloe's silence said it all. Mia broke down in tears when she realized her baby was dead. Maggie took her in her arms. Chloe told them about the switch. Maggie wasn't sure if she could believe it and called Roman. Alone with Chloe, Mia cried that she never understood until now why Nicole made sure she held Grace before she died. "Maybe in some weird way, she was trying to do the right thing," Chloe said. "Don't even think of defending her," Mia replied. Mia was confused about why Nicole did it. Chloe explained that Sydney is the biological daughter of Sami and EJ. Mia's head was spinning. Maggie returned and told Mia it was all true. "I trusted her. I gave her my baby," Mia wept. "I've lost everything and it's all my own stupid fault." Maggie comforted her some more, then Mia said she had something she had to do.

On the pier, Nicole was read her Miranda rights as EJ looked on. Sami and Rafe arrived with Sydney. EJ ordered the cops to keep Nicole away from the baby, then looked the daughter he shunned. "I should have known," he told Sami. He kicked himself for how he had treated the baby and apologized. Sami assured him there was no way he could have known. EJ vowed that Nicole would pay, but Sami pointed out she already was. A thrilled EJ took the baby in his arms, but couldn't help but knock Sami when discussing Nicole. "You have something in common. Both like to keep my children away from me," he said. Sami stopped the cops before they took Nicole away. She turned to EJ and pointed out that while they may hate Nicole, Sydney loves her and should be able to say good-bye. Sami asked that Nicole be uncuffed so she could hold the baby one last time. Nicole thanked her, but Sami warned her not to talk to her. Nicole held Sydney and told her she loved her and always would. Sami took the baby back and as Nicole was taken away, she cried that she was sorry. Sami and Rafe wanted to take the baby home, but EJ said that her home was with him. They resumed their talk chez DiMera. EJ said he would be forever grateful to Rafe for getting his daughter back. Rafe said they were even since EJ saved his life. Rafe was going to leave Sami and EJ alone to talk, but Sami said that Rafe was part of her life and would be part of their children's lives, too. EJ was understanding. Sami suggested they all start over. EJ agreed, saying he wanted to raise Johnny and Sydney together as an active parent. Sydney started babbling for her mother. EJ thought Sydney should stay with Sami for the night. The doorbell rang: It was a cop, asking for EJ to come down to the station for questioning in the attempt on Rafe's life. EJ accused Sami of being behind it, but she insisted she had nothing to do with it. Sami and Rafe left with Sydney.

Nicole was put behind bars. She made her one phone call to Chloe, begging her to pay her bail so she could get Sydney. Chloe said no, then demanded to know how her friend could do such a thing. Nicole tried to defend herself, but Chloe hung up on her. Later, Nicole got a visitor. She thought it was Chloe, but it was Mia.

Thursday

EJ was furious that the cop arrived to question him about the hit on Rafe. He thought it was a ploy so Sami and Rafe could take Sydney home. Roman arrived and told EJ that the man Stefano hired to kill Rafe claimed EJ ordered the hit. D.A. Woods entered with Abe. EJ wasn't ruffled, pointing out that he recognized a grandstanding district attorney when he saw one. Abe tried to mediate. EJ insisted Roman was trying to build a case against him to give Sami the upper hand in their eventual custody trial. The D.A. told EJ his office would let him know if they were going to press charges. EJ told Woods to send his best to Chad. Roman left next. Abe stayed behind to chat with his brother-in-law. EJ asked Abe if it made sense that he would try and kill Rafe then save him. "Abe, this is ridiculous," he said. EJ's phone rang; it was Judge Rodriguez's office. EJ was granted a chat with the hit man. Abe accompanied him.

Brady worked furiously to break the code on Victor's files. Arianna urged him to take a break. Brady noted a Greek word was used throughout the files, which meant Victor was indeed connected to the drug trade in Salem. Ari noticed that an account had been closed, which meant that Victor was out — and somebody else was now her big boss.

Nathan came to Maggie's to pick up some of his things. Stephanie was there, having a meeting about the hospital with Maggie. Nathan took off to return to work. Steph noted to Maggie that she hoped Nate didn't get hurt. Maggie asked if she thought Melanie would hurt him. Steph said it was clear Melanie liked Nathan. "But she likes Philip more," Maggie added knowingly. Steph rushed off, hurting her ankle in the process.

Melanie barged into Philip's house and told him to stop texting her and leaving messages and to stay out of her life. He asked why she didn't just call him to tell him that. She was exasperated and told Philip that Nathan was in her life now. She left and went to the hospital to confess to Nate that Philip had been leaving her messages. He said he knew because he overheard Philip leaving one. She asked why he never told her. He said it was because it was her choice to tell him, and he was happy she did. "Just so you know, I'll fight for you if I have to," he declared. She smiled and kissed him. Stephanie spied the buss and took off. Later, she approached Nathan to chat. It was awkward. She went to leave and twisted her ankle again. He caught her before she fell. He wrapped her ankle. She fantasized about kissing him. Before he left the room, she told him he was making a huge mistake.

Maggie ran into Philip at the Java Café. She was looking for Mia, but he hadn't seen her. She sat down with Philip and told him to "butt out" of Melanie's relationship with Nathan. Phil countered that perhaps Melanie wasn't in such a good place with Nathan if Maggie was so worried. Maggie got a call from Mickey and excused herself.... Melanie went home and ate ice cream. There was a knock at the door. It was Mark, who she knew from France. "There is something we must do, no?" he said. "I've changed. I can't do the things that I used to do," she replied.

At the jail cell, Nicole turned on the charm with Mia, saying they could still get their baby back, but Mia wasn't buying it. "My baby is dead. I will never, ever get to see her again because of you!" Mia wept. Mia excoriated Nicole for dumping Grace on Sami and not caring about her. Nicole insisted she thought she was doing the right thing. Mia cried that Nicole was a monster. She noted that she never felt a bond with Sydney and never understood why. "I thought I was just some disgusting person," she lamented. "I threw my life away forever because I thought it was the right thing for my baby. But she wasn't mine ... I lost everything!" she yelled. "I hate myself for that and I hate you!" Nicole tried to comfort her, but Mia told her never to touch her again. She added that she hoped Nicole would be in a cell for the rest of her life. "I just hope you burn in hell for what you did," Mia declared.

At the station, EJ talked to Mateo, the hit man, who was behind bars. He put his arm around Mateo's neck and asked why he changed his story. He roughed him up, but Abe pulled EJ off. "My God, EJ, what is the matter with you?" Abe asked. EJ was convinced Roman was behind it all.

At the Brady Pub, Victor chatted with Caroline. She thanked him for sending flowers every day she had the flu. She told him she was worried how he was doing in the wake of Kate and Stefano's marriage. He scoffed that Kate meant nothing to him and there was only woman for him. She told him that Shawn was the only man in her life and that while she cared for Victor deeply, she couldn't overlook his line of work. She gently suggested he move on. He returned home. Brady stormed into the house with his notes on the drug operation. "You're in it; up to your neck," Brady told his grandfather. Victor was outraged that Brady was poking around in his files, then blamed Arianna. "Wake up! This woman is going to ruin you," Vic told Brady. Brady retorted that Vic would wind up bitter and alone if he kept acting the way he was. Brady returned to Ari's room. He told her he was determined to find out who was behind the cartel. She went to fetch them some coffee. He realized his cell was off and turned it on. He had a text message saying Nicole had been arrested. He rushed to the jail and told her he was there to help.

Friday

EJ left a frantic message for Stefano about Matteo the hit man. Stefano entered the living room. EJ wondered what his father was up to. Stefano pointed out that Matteo kept changing his story, so neither one of them could really be considered responsible. "We'll buy a judge; everything will be fine," Stefano shrugged. EJ asked Stefano why he put the hit on Rafe. "Insects annoy me," the Phoenix responded dismissively and urged his son to forget about Rafe. EJ played a cat and mouse game with his father, then dropped the bomb that he knew the truth about Sydney's biological origins. He asked if his father knew, but Stefano acted surprised. EJ pushed, insisting that was why Stefano ordered the hit on Hernandez. Stefano denied it but EJ didn't believe him. "You lied to me. You got Nicole to lie to me. You had me mourn the death of a child that isn't even mine," EJ said sadly. EJ cracked and began choking his father.

Rafe entered the Brady Pub and reported to Arianna that he had returned Sydney to Sami and Nicole was in jail. Ari was thrilled and hugged her brother. Someone was listening in on their discussion. It was their sister — Gabriella. "Mom told me to come; she was worried about you guys," the teen explained. The sibs caught up. Gabi said she'd be staying for a few days, which didn't thrill Ari. Rafe and Ari talked privately. Ari pointed out that they didn't have room for her. Rafe noted that there was a vacant room down the hall from Ari's and he would call Caroline and ask if Gabi could stay there. After, Gabi pointed out to Rafe that Ari wasn't happy to have her there. Rafe explained that Ari had a new boyfriend and probably wanted privacy. "Does this new boyfriend know she's a jailbird?" Ari asked. "No, no one here knows that," Rafe told her.

At the police station, Brady visited Nicole, who was behind bars. She was confused when he said he was there to help. She realized he didn't know the full story. She asked him to post bail for her. He said he would. When he returned, he told her he would put her up in a discreet motel in Graymore and would give her money. She didn't know how to thank him. He told her he was her friend and nothing would change that. After, Brady went to the pub and told Ari he posted bail for Nicole. "After everything she did? Are you out of your mind?" Ari exclaimed.... Nicole was sprung from the clink and vowed to find her baby.

At the hospital, Nathan wrapped Stephanie's ankle. She fantasized about him kissing her. When she came out of it, she told him he was making a huge mistake. He asked what she meant. She covered that he wrapped the ankle too tight. He asked her what was really on her mind. She was evasive, but he noted that there was distance between them. A nurse got a call about an accident and told Steph she had to call a doctor in. Steph told her Nathan was still in the hospital and could cover. She stuck around to be near him.

Mark, someone Melanie knew from Europe, tracked her down to Maggie's house. He demanded the money she owed him and grabbed her arm. Philip walked in during their tussle. He suspected Mark was one of Mel's Eurotrash pals. He offered his watch to Mark to pay Mel's debt, which was less than Melanie owed. Mark balked, but once Philip told Mark his last name, a freaked-out Mark backed down and left. Melanie thanked Philip and told him she owed him. "And I know exactly how you can repay me," he smirked. Nathan called Mel to say he had to work. After Mel hung up, she asked Philip not to tell Nathan about her past in Europe. Philip told her to be honest with herself. She kissed him.
