Monday
Max confronted Stephanie about finding Trent's wallet in her purse. Steph hadn't a clue how it got there. Max asked if there was a part of the day Steph didn't have her purse with her. Steph remembered being at the police station and that Melanie was there. Max jumped to Melanie's defense, which led to an argument. Steph went on about Melanie manipulating Max. Max told Steph to lay off his sister. Steph suspeted Melanie planted Trent's wallet in her purse and wondered how she got it. "I think Melanie killed your father," she announced. Max insisted Melanie didn't do it. Steph said there was no way Max would know for sure, unless he killed Trent.
At the cemetery Philip confronted Melanie about why she had her dead dad's wallet. Melanie noted Trent had given it to her. Philip didn't buy it. Melanie said Trent threw it at her the night he was murdered, right there in the cemetery. He had her come to the cemetery to talk about getting Claude off his back, she explained. Melanie flashed back to their spat and the knife, claiming she walked away from Trent and never looked back. Philip didn't believe her and wanted to go to Bo. Melanie stopped him and revealed that she pulled a knife on Trent and he told her to put it down. Philip was stunned. "Did you kill Trent?" he asked. Melanie admitted she didn't know.
Sami walked into the mansion to tell EJ she was pregnant, when she overheard Nicole telling him she was having his baby. EJ was speechless. John decided it was time to leave. Nicole waited for EJ's reaction. Wasn't he the least bit excited? Sami entered and accused Nicole of lying because Nicole was barren. Nicole insisted she really was pregnant and it was a miracle. Suddenly, Nicole felt a kick. Sami went to feel Nicole's baby bump and gasped. EJ told Sami it was time she left. As she exited, Sami muttered how EJ had gotten them both pregnant. Alone, Nicole told EJ she wished he were happier about her news. She went on about how she always wanted to be a mom. EJ said he was happy, but needed proof this child was his.
Marlena perused a letter noting the state was unable to proceed with her divorce petition until it had the signatures of both parties. John arrived on cue and mentioned Marlena talking to EJ. Marlena admitted she'd asked for Elvis's help. John said EJ accused him of being cold and selfish. Marlena noted she was running out of hope that the John she loved would ever return. John swore he was trying to be that man and revealed Nicole was pregnant with EJ's baby. John explained that Nicole had confided in him, and he told Nicole to tell EJ. Marlena was impressed John did the right thing. Sami ran up, anxious to speak to Marlena as John left. Sami revealed Nicole was pregnant with EJ's baby. Marlena said John already told her. Sami was annoyed and went on about Nicole ruining EJ's life. Marlena didn't get Sami's attitude, but announced she was just happy Sami wasn't the one pregnant.
Kate was out clothes shopping, when Chelsea interrupted. Daniel had her looking for Kate, making it sound like it was a matter of life and death. Chelsea just wanted the truth: Was Kate really sick? Kate explained she was waiting for test results. Chelsea felt horrible for being insensitive, because all she could think about was Kate and Daniel. Kate wanted to discuss things. Chelsea swore she could never forgive or forget what happened. Kate let Chelsea have it, calling her out on her self-pity and resentment. Kate said what she and Daniel did was not wrong and Chelsea needed to get over it. Chelsea couldn't and stormed off.
Tuesday
Melanie found Nick drinking at the pub and was concerned. He'd just gotten out of jail on drunk driving charges and was having beer for breakfast. Nick swore he was fine. Melanie didn't believe him and asked what was wrong. She blamed herself for Nick's problems. He needed to stay away from her. Nick said he couldn't stay away from Melanie. He was drawn to her "like a moth to a flame." Melanie admitted Nick was cute, sexy and nice. Nick returned the praise, calling Melanie beautiful, smart and funny. Melanie noted Nick had done a lot for her and she wanted to thank him. So she planted a kiss on him.
Bo stopped by the hospital to see Kayla. EJ and Nicole arrived for the paternity test. Bo spotted them and went back and forth with Nicole about Trent's murder. Bo promised he'd be watching Nicole and left. EJ told Nicole that with everything Sami put him through with the twins, he needed to know who her baby's father was. He realized that was offensive to Nicole and apologized. Nicole said this baby was a new beginning for her and scolded EJ for only caring about how it affected him. EJ swore that wasn't true. Kayla fetched Nicole for the ultrasound, then headed off to proceed with the paternity test. Alone, EJ said he was sorry for upsetting Nicole. Kayla returned with the results. Nicole read them and congratulated EJ. Then, she told EJ she could either do this on her own or they could do it together. It was all up to him.
Sami told Lucas she wasn't the only woman EJ knocked up. Nicole was pregnant, too. Lucas finally stopped laughing to say this might be a good thing. Maybe Stefano would go after Nicole's baby and leave Sami alone. Lucas realized Sami hadn't told EJ she was expecting, nor had she told her parents. Sami swore she'd do anything not to raise another DiMera baby. She asked Lucas to promise to keep her pregnancy secret. Lucas reluctantly agreed.
Stephanie called the Salem PD to tell Bo about Trent's wallet being planted in her purse, but he wasn't there. Steph prepared to leave with the wallet, when Max stopped her. He told Steph if she turned it in, she'd be implicating Melanie in their dad's murder. Steph urged Max to stop protecting his sister. The wallet was evidence, and they had to turn it in. Max refused to rat out his sister and wanted to destroy the wallet. When Steph noted the wallet could clear Caroline, Max finally came to his senses. Max and Steph arrived at Bo's office and gave him the wallet. Bo asked how they got it. Steph explained she thought Melanie planted it in her purse. Bo took the wallet to dust it for fingerprints. When he returned, he noted the only prints on it were Steph and Max's.
Lexie met Lacey at the park and promptly fired her as Theo's babysitter. Lacey didn't take it well. Abe arrived, gave Lacey her last check, and wished her the best. Lacey stormed off. Later, at Chez Rouge, Abe prepared to announce his candidacy for mayor. Lacey arrived and phoned Mayor Marino. When the mayor arrived, Lacey told him she had useful information on the Carver clan. Soon, Abe began to make his speech. Lexie was stunned when Lacey brought things to a halt, yelling that the voters needed to know the truth. She accused Abe and Lexie of being bad parents who ditched their autistic son into her care, and capped things off by saying Abe had made advances toward her. The press ate it up. Lacey noted Salem deserved a mayor better than Abe. Abe believed Marino was behind Lacey's outburst and vowed to fight this. Lexie said she couldn't go through this, took Theo and prepared to leave. On her way out, she came face-to-face with Lacey.
Wednesday
At the DiMera mansion, EJ suggested that Nicole wants to carry his child for the money. He apologized, but added that he felt ambushed when she told him the news. He also noted that her marriage to Victor was based on finance, saying that he doesn’t want that. Nic thought that he was implying that he wants to marry her, but he shot down that idea and also put the kibosh on her living at the mansion. Nicole sadly replied that she’d take a cab home, then thought of her financial situation and sighed that she’d take a bus.
Sami bought a bunch of new clothes to hide her expanding figure, telling Lucas that EJ will never know that she's preggers. Chloe (back early from St. Louis) walked in and told Sami that she's kidding herself. After a few digs, it became clear that Chloe thought Sami was just trying to hide a few extra pounds. After Sami left the room, Chloe asked Lucas to get rid of her so that they could take a hot shower. He stammered that Sami is staying with them for a while. Chloe was so not pleased and stormed out. EJ showed up at the cabin as Lucas was on his way out. He said that he wanted to see Johnny, but Sami told him that the baby was napping and advised EJ to go home. The Brit said that he didn’t really come to see Johnny, he just needed a friend to talk to. He sat down and vented his confusion over Nic’s pregnancy. Sami said that this is a good sign that their own relationship is really over.
Lexie sat in the park with Theo as the boy played with his trucks. He brightened up when Chelsea showed up for their play date. Chelsea brought up Lacey’s stunt at Abe’s press conference. Lexie said that once Theo’s name was brought into it, she washed her hands of the campaign. Chelsea encouraged her to stick with it, praising her strength and saying that she wishes she had a man as devoted as Abe. Lexie was surprised to hear that Daniel and Chelsea are over, and urged her to forgive the doc. In the meantime, Abe’s campaign manager informed him that Mayor Marino has vetted Lexie and plans on bringing up some of her past scandals.
Kate walked up as Daniel was toweling off after a dip in the Kiriakis pool. She commented that she thinks she’s making inroads with Chelsea. Daniel recommended that she tell Chelsea about her illness, but Kate didn’t want her granddaughter to forgive her just because she’s sick. Dr. Jonas squirmed when she brought up her biopsy results. He said that he hadn’t received them yet, but wanted her optimism to be tempered by caution. Moments later, Daniel got a call from the hospital: The results were inconclusive; she may or may not have cancer. A teary Kate cooed to the shirtless doc that facing her mortality makes her not want to pass up a chance for happiness and pleasure. Kissing ensued. Lots of kissing. Kissing and more kissing. The ended up doing the deed, then curled up on the patio chairs for pillow talk. The doc assured her that he’s with her “every step of the way.”
The mayor visited Stefano at the mansion to talk about the campaign. He warned that Stefano won’t be able to buy his son-in-law the way he’s bought Marino. Stefano offered to help defeat Abe on one condition — Marino must promise to leave Lexie and Theo out of it.... After Chelsea went to play with Theo on the swings, an online reporter toting a camera questioned Lexie about her relationships with Brandon and Tek. Abe came along and tried to leave with his wife, but she insisted that she was giving “the seedy blog” an exclusive. She said that the election isn’t about Theo’s autism, her infidelities or who her father is, it’s about what’s right for Salem. She called Abe “the most honorable, dedicated person” she knows. Afterward, the Carvers went to the Brady Pub and Lexie vowed her support to her hubby.
Nicole, who was carrying Pookie in her arms, opened her door to Chloe. The friends were happy to see each other. When Nic turned away to get Chloe a drink, the diva spotted the sonogram and instantly asked Nicole about it. Nic admitted that she’s got a bun in the oven. Chloe asked if this was a scam and Nicole explained that it’s not, but that EJ is dubious. They were interrupted by a visit from Lucas, who had been looking for Chloe so that he could apologize. He was followed by EJ, seeking to apologize to Nic. In the hallway, Lucas said that he was sorry for not consulting with his girlfriend before allowing Sami to stay at the cabin. The diva grudgingly said that it’s okay for Sami to stay there for a while. In Nicole’s apartment, EJ said that he’d “come to [his] senses.” He declared that he’d like to be a part of her life and their child’s life and offered the idea that they start by finally going on a real date..... Alone at the cabin, Sami told Johnny that she was doing what she had to do to protect his unborn sibling.
Thursday
EJ arrived at Nicole's hotel room to pick her up for their date. He suggested taking her to her favorite restaurant, since he wanted the night to be special. While Nicole got ready, a man arrived with an eviction notice. She emerged as EJ was packing her things. He explained she'd been evicted. Nicole blamed Trent for her money troubles. If he'd stayed away, she'd have Victor's settlement. EJ invited Nicole to stay at the DiMera mansion. Nicole asked about Sami. EJ said they were through. He wanted to take care of Nicole and assured Pookie was welcome, too. Nicole asked about Stefano. She thought EJ didn't want him to know about the baby. EJ reiterated he didn't and asked Nicole to let him handle that. Then, the pair put their date on hold and left to pick up Pookie at the groomer.
John walked into the mansion and announced the game was over — Stefano had won. John was giving up control of the DiMera empire and moving out of the mansion by the end of the week. Stefano thought John made a wise decision, but wondered why. He announced he was doing it for Blondie. It was what she wanted. Later, Nicole and EJ entered the mansion as Pookie ran off. "What is going on here?" asked Stefano. Nicole said she was moving in. Stefano told EJ he needed his approval on that. Finally, Nic ole blurted out the big news: she's pregnant. Stefano smiled at the thought of another DiMera heir. Nicole felt the little heir kick. EJ touched her tummy, but felt nothing. Then, Stefano tried and the baby kicked again. Stefano was delighted and toasted to the next generation of DiMeras.
Chloe went to see Marlena for advice on Lucas. She didn't trust her judgment with men anymore. Both men she fell in love with burned her. Chloe thought Lucas was cheating on her and mentioned Sami being at the cabin. Not that she was blaming Sami or trying to pump Marlena for information. "Unless I had some to give," noted Marlena. Chloe realized how pathetic she sounded. Marlena didn't think she was pathetic, but she had come to the wrong person. Marlena suggested Chloe talk to Lucas. Chloe thanked her and left. John arrived and told Marlena he was getting his act together and taking it on the road. He was a changed man. He realized he'd lose Marlena if he didn't take action. John revealed he'd given up control of the DiMera empire, because Marlena asked him to and he loved her. Marlena was proud of him. Before leaving to pack his things, John told Marlena he'd signed the divorce papers. The ball was in her court.
Lucas asked Sami about her visit with EJ. Sami said she told EJ goodbye. Lucas reiterated that Sami needed to tell EJ she was pregnant. Sami insisted on putting it off and maybe going away for a while. Lucas went on about EJ being a jerk, but a caring jerk who would take care of Sami and their baby and protect them from Stefano. Sami had a better idea: a scheme. They could tell everyone her baby was Lucas'. Not surprisingly, Lucas refused. Sami sobbed and tried to make him feel guilty, noting his sex kitten Chloe was more important to him than her innocent baby. Lucas insisted he wouldn't be a part of her scheme and left. Sami cried some more. Later, Lucas returned home, but Sami was gone. He phoned and left her a message, apologizing. Then, he noticed an open phonebook and saw an ad for an abortion clinic. Meanwhile, at the clinic, Sami was taken to a room. A doctor arrived and asked if she was ready. Lucas arrived at the clinic and got a call from Chloe. She overheard someone mention the clinic in the background and that Lucas' wife was in the exam room. Chloe was perplexed, while Lucas cut her off and raced to the room. Lucas walked in to find Sami sobbing.
Friday
Lucas entered the exam room and asked Sami if she'd had an abortion. After the doctor left, she reeled at Lucas for thinking she would do such a thing. Sami said she'd only come to the clinic because everyone knew her at the hospital. Chloe stormed into the clinic, lying that she'd been summoned by Sami. The attendant wouldn't let her past him, but when he got called away Chloe began looking for Sami. Meanwhile, Sami promised to tell EJ about the baby, but said she needed until the end of the day. She needed to talk to someone first. Sami kissed Lucas, and they left. Chloe happened upon Sami's room and grabbed her medical chart from the door. She was stunned to learn Sami was pregnant.
At the pub, Max and Stephanie told Caroline about Trent's wallet just as Melanie walked in. Max demanded to know how the wallet ended up in Steph's purse. Melanie suggested Stephanie was the killer. Steph and Melanie bickered. Max said they all knew Melanie planted the wallet. Melanie couldn't believe Max believed Steph over her. The two girls got into it. Max pulled them apart. Melanie suggested taking the wallet to the police station to have it dusted for prints. When she realized Max and Steph had already done that and her prints weren't on it, she demanded an apology. Max asked to speak to Melanie alone. Steph left reluctantly. Max asked Melanie to swear she didn't kill Trent. Melanie only admitted to planting the wallet in Steph's purse to help Caroline. Max didn't buy it. Again, Max asked if Melanie killed Trent. "Maybe I did," admitted Melanie.
Lexie arrived to see Stefano. She told him horrible things were all over the tabloids and Internet about her family. Mayor Marino had brought up her affairs, but crossed a line when he mentioned Theo. Stefano said the mayor would back down. Lexie knew Marino was in Stefano's pocket. She told Stefano to end his association with the crooked official or his relationship with Theo was over. Later, Lexie overheard Marino telling some pals Abe's campaign was crashing. Lexie predicted his own campaign was going down. She asked if Stefano was a contributor and noted he was her father. Lexie said Marino's resources would soon run dry. Marino phoned Stefano, who scolded him for not listening when he said family was off limits. Stefano was severing all ties with him. Marino was furious.
Sami met Caroline in the park. When Caroline walked off, Sami asked Johnny if he was ready to have a sibling. She admitted she hadn't told his daddy yet, because she was scared of Stefano. But Sami knew the time had come to tell EJ the truth. Meanwhile, Chloe burst into the Horton cabin and slapped Lucas, announcing she knew Sami was pregnant. After some spatting back and forth, Lucas revealed the baby wasn't his. Chloe asked why Lucas didn't tell her Sami was pregnant. Lucas said he couldn't betray Sami's trust. Chloe realized EJ was the father and asked if he knew. Lucas said Sami was probably telling him now.
EJ warned Nicole to keep her distance from Stefano. He was trying to win Nicole over to get closer to their child. EJ admitted his guilt over never being a family with Sami and Johnny. Nicole promised it would be different with her and their baby. They were both getting a second chance. Yet, Nicole wondered if EJ could give up his past with Sami. Later, Stefano told Nicole lunch would soon be served. EJ asked for a moment alone with Nicole and promised to be there for her and their baby. Nicole asked about their future and where she stood versus Sami. EJ assured there was no one between the two of them. Nicole rewarded EJ with a kiss. He took things a step further onto the couch. The doorbell rang, but Nicole and EJ didn't budge. It was Sami, who walked around to the back of the house and spied the action through the French doors. Sami ran off, crying. Meanwhile, Marino arrived at the front door of the mansion, when someone emerged behind him. The mayor turned around...and a bullet was fired into him. He collapsed to the ground, just as Sami walked onto the scene.
