DAYS Week of October 19, 2009
Monday
Nicole called Chad and asked him to meet, but he could tell she was up to something. Still, he agreed to talk to her. Nic then ran into Lexie, who was surprised that she was visiting Stefano. Lexie assured Nicole that she didn't judge her because she knew first-hand how far a woman would go to protect her child. She added that she wished she could have helped Nicole. Nic asked Lexie to help her by watching Sydney. Lexie put the baby in day care at the hospital with Theo. Nurse Maxine urged Lexie to check in on Stefano. When Lexie got to his room, she discovered he had a visitor — Victor. She demanded to know why he was there. "Visiting a sick friend," Vic shrugged. He insisted he hoped Stefano would recover, mainly because Kate shouldn't get off so easily.
Chad and Nicole met on the pier. She tried to sweet-talk him into letting her keep Sydney, but he wasn't falling for it. He told her he'd see her in court. She resorted to her old tricks and put on the charm. In his best imitation of The Graduate, Chad said, "Mrs. DiMera ... are you trying to seduce me?"
At the DiMera mansion, Sami excoriated EJ for how he was treating Nicole and Sydney. EJ tried to kick her out, but Sami pushed, saying that if he was a man, he would stand up and do what's right by keeping Sydney with Nicole. Their argument continued. He threw her out of the house. She warned him that if he kept kicking people out of the house, he would wind up alone.
Mia complained to Will that Chad was going after their baby, pointing out that the teen knew nothing about raising babies. Sami came home to find the teens waiting. Will said that Mia needed Sami's help. They talked about Sydney and Nicole. Mia felt Nicole was the best mother for Sydney and resented Chad's interference. Sami promised to do everything she could to keep Sydney with Nicole.
At the hospital, Melanie and Nathan giggled that an older couple had figured out that they were involved. It was less funny when Nurse Maxine cornered them, and asked what was going on. She wondered why Melanie had volunteered for extra shifts. Mel said she was trying to be helpful because one of the other nurses had a brother home on leave and she thought she might want to stay home with him. Maxine accepted her explanation and went back to work. Melanie later talked to Nathan about Maxine and warned him to stop defending her or else the nurse would be even more suspicious. They made secret plans for dinner later. Back at home, Maggie walked in on Melanie ironing in the kitchen. Thinking it was Nathan, Melanie made a flirty comment, only to discover Mags there. Maggie asked her if she was prepping for a date with Nathan. Melanie said yes, then apologized because she knew Maggie didn't want them to be together. Maggie admitted that she worried Mel was going to hurt Nathan, and it was very hard for her to sit back and watch. Nathan came in while they were talking. Maggie got emotional and left the room. Melanie was upset, too, but Nathan kissed her. He wanted to go to dinner; she whispered an alternate plan in his ear.
EJ arrived at the hospital to see Stefano and found Lexie with Sydney. He wanted to know why the baby was there, then sent Syd home with Mary. Lexie tried to talk to him about how he was feeling, but he stood by his decision to boot Syd and Nicole out of his life. He admitted it was killing him, though. After, he visited Stefano, whose hand moved during their talk.
Arianna pulled away from Brady's kiss, saying they couldn't do that. He pushed her to explain why she was so hot and cold with him. He asked if it was about Victor. She was evasive. They talked about moving forward, but Ari said if they got back together, it had to be a secret. He agreed and kissed her. Oops: Victor secretly caught them! Ari rushed out to go to work; Brady promised to look for Rafe for her. Victor revealed himself to Brady, who was surprised his grandfather was home. Brady quickly excused himself.
Tuesday
Sami prepped Johnny for a new babysitter who was coming to take care of him. She called Nicole to check in to see how she was doing but Nic didn't answer. Sami left a message, asking where she could find Chad.
On the pier, Nicole tried to seduce Chad. "I am scared that you might be too much man for me," she cooed, which sparked something in his brain. He realized that she was Misty Circle, the porn star. She tried to deny it, but he recognized her from Locker Room Lolita. She copped to it, but insisted it was in the past. "As much fun as it would be to brag to all my friends that I bagged some hot, old nymphomaniac, I'm not doing anything to screw up getting my kid back," he declared. They argued. She tried to warn him that EJ was a DiMera and that Chad wouldn't want to be his enemy. He shot back that his parents were powerful attorneys and he wasn't worried.
Roman caught up with Arianna, who revealed that Brady was going to look for Rafe. Roman asked if they were back together. She said she knew it was a mistake. She also told him that Victor knew she was dealing. Roman wasn't concerned because he felt it made her look more legit. She said she was upset about it and quit. He told her she wasn't in a position to quit or else she'd be sent back to prison. Brady sent a text message to Ari. Roman mused that he was a regular Lord Byron after reading it. Ari told Roman that she didn't want Brady to know she was in prison. She worried he wouldn't look at her the same way again.
Brady visited Sami to talk about Rafe. He revealed that he was looking for Rafe because he and Ari had reunited. He cautioned that the reunion was a secret. She didn't think that was a good sign.... Sami went to Java Caf, where Chad was on duty. She explained that she wanted to talk to him about Sydney. Sami told him that she was a teen mom and tried to show him the downside of parenting at a young age. He thought she made a lot of sense.
Nicole went to the Kiriakis manse to talk to Brady, saying he was the only one she could turn to. She hugged him and told him she needed him. She said she wanted them to run away — forever.
On the boat, Carly told Omar that Rafe spiked a fever and needed antibiotics. He told her they were entering Salem harbor, which pleased her. He asked what she planned to do with Rafe once they got there. She didn't know but refused to abandon him. When they docked, Carly told Omar she was going to go to University Hospital to get Rafe some meds. Armed with a flashlight, she zipped her hoodie and headed out.
Bo met with Lexie at the hospital. She forgot that they had a meeting about the Salem PD volunteer program. They talked about his relationship with Hope. "As far as I can figure, Hope is pretty much wrong about everything and I'm right," he told her. They discussed the volunteer program. He said the police didn't have budget to pay for volunteers. She suggested having Hope underwrite the program, but Bo said that money was a hot-button issue for them and he didn't want to ask her. Bo confided in Lexie that he was really mad because he felt that Hope didn't want to work things out. She reminded him that she and Abe had gone through major rough patches and worked things out. She assured him things weren't over with Hope. While they were talking, Carly, clad in a lab coat, got off the elevator. She swiped some meds, noting that nothing had really changed.
Wednesday
At the Java Café, Sami taked to Chad about leaving Sydney with Nicole, using her own teen mom experience as an example. Chad thought she made a lot of sense but said he had to think about it. He went back to work. Maggie came in and stopped to talk to Sami. She referenced what a great kid Will turned out to be. Maggie fetched coffee and told Chad that Sami knew Mia and that Will was her son. She left. Chad was peeved at Sami for not being honest about who she was. She insisted nothing she told him had changed and she wasn't lying about the pressures on a teen parent. Sami told him how Will moved to Europe to get away from her and Lucas because they were so inexperienced. "He hated his parents. Is that what you want?" Sami asked. An angry Chad insisted he would not make the same mistakes Sami did. Sami urged him to reconsider. He vowed to get custody of his daughter, "End of story." Chad's father — D.A. Woods — visited his son to see how he was doing. Chad huffed that his father wanted him to give up on the fight for Sydney, but Chad refused. His father handed him a lawyer's business card.
EJ sat at Stefano's bedside, lamenting that his life was falling apart. After EJ left, Stefano's hand moved.
Carly swiped meds for Rafe, then nearly ran into Bo, who was at the hospital right outside of the room she was in. Theo came running up with Lexie. Bo picked the boy up and congratulated him for being mainstreamed in school. After, Lexie and Bo chatted, which Carly overheard. She discovered her ex was the police commissioner. She left, passing Maggie in the process. Carly hopped on an elevator; Maggie reacted to seeing her. She asked Lexie what female doctors were working on the floor that night. Lexie said she was it. Maggie explained that she saw a doctor who looked familiar but couldn't place her. Lexie went visited with her father and could see signs of him coming out of his coma. Nurse Maxine told Mags and Bo that antibiotics were missing from the medicine cabinet.
Carly returned to the boat and asked Omar about Rafe. Omar said that Rafe was delirious and kept talking about a baby.
Nicole asked Brady to run away with her. She insisted he was the one man in the world who loved her and was perfect for her. Brady pointed out that Nicole wouldn't be there if EJ hadn't busted her about the miscarriage. She insisted that she couldn't "chase a dream with someone who doesn't love me. Who's nothing but a cold, cynical bastard." Brady wasn't so down with the running away part. Nicole asked if he still loved her. "I do. And probably always will," he replied, but noted she was asking a lot of him. She revealed they'd be taking Sydney with them and that Chad wanted custody. Brady asked if she wanted to run away with him because she wanted to be with him or needed his money. "Wow, Brady, that really hurt," she replied, then made an impassioned speech about how she had no ties to Salem and just wanted to be with him. He said he couldn't go away with her. She implored him not to abandon her. He promised he would stand by her, then admitted he was involved with someone else. She freaked out and told him that everything was his fault. She stormed out.
Victor came to the Brady Pub and jokingly asked Arianna for cocaine. He queried if she was keeping her word with him regarding Brady in a veiled threat sort of way. She skirted around the answer, just saying that she didn't want to hurt Brady. Victor left, then made a mysterious phone call. He went to visit EJ at the DiMera mansion. EJ asked him not to gloat about Nicole. Vic said he wouldn't, but pointed out that he did warn Elvis about her. They got down to business. Victor told EJ he wanted to sell half of one of their operations. "I'm talking about our side of the river. All of it," Vic told him. EJ asked what the catch was. Victor simply said he was looking to sell and went to EJ first.
Brady visited Arianna at the Pub. She gave him coffee, then told him to meet her at the pier. There, they kissed.
Mary brought Sydney to Nicole, who was waiting outside of the Brady Pub. Mary asked if Nic was okay and said she was sorry for everything that had happened. Nicole left a desperate message for Chloe, crying and begging for her help. Sami approached Nicole, saying everything would be okay and that she would help her. Nicole broke down in tears.
Thursday
Sami came upon a weeping Nicole outside of the Brady Pub and assured her she would help her. "No, you can't do that!" Nicole cried, explaining that Nicole didn't know what was going on. Sami told her she did know and vowed to make sure Sydney wasn't taken away by Chad. Sami asked Nicole to come to the penthouse, where she revealed that she spoke to Chad earlier. Sami urged Nicole to do everything she could to hang on to Sydney. Nicole asked if Sami would feel the same way if she hadn't lost Grace. Sami was surprised by the question. Nicole dropped the bomb that she wanted to run away with Sydney to a country that had no extradition treaty with the United States. Sami again offered help. She was so nice to her that Nicole broke down. Nicole said she needed money to get away; Sami left to get it for her. When she returned, she handed the money to Nicole, explaining that John left it for her in case of an emergency. Nicole thanked her. Sami asked if she could say good-bye to Sydney; Nicole said okay. Sami told the baby she would never forget her.
Melanie and Nathan caught a horror film in the cemetery. They folded their blanket and talked about how lame it was. Philip approached, explaining he had watched the flick, too. Mel was surprised. He said that Titan sponsored the graveyard movie series, so that's why he was there. Nathan took off to fetch his cell phone, leaving Mel and Phil alone. He told her and Nathan to have a good night, then left. Nathan returned with his phone. They went back to Maggie's place. Nathan told Mel that she was beautiful and they kissed.
Kate ran into Stephanie at the Java Caf and was happy she did because she wanted to talk about Philip. Kate said Steph and Philip belonged together. Philip entered during their chat and ordered his mother to shut up. They talked after; she urged him to reconcile with Steph and stay away from Melanie.
Lexie summoned EJ to the hospital because Stefano was waking up. They went into his room and talked to him. Lexie asked him to open his eyes, which he did. They were elated to see him up. They worried Kate had done something to him; Stefano laughed that he had done it all to himself. He asked to see his grandchildren — and Nicole. EJ and Lexie were uneasy.
Chloe was upset when she ruined dinner. Maggie came by with a cake and said she wanted to make things right between them. Chloe told Maggie that she was happier than she had ever been. Chloe listened to her messages and heard Nicole's weepy, desperate voice, asking for her help. Maggie and Chloe talked about what Nicole had done regarding the miscarriage and Sydney. Chloe said she couldn't imagine going through that, adding that she wanted to get pregnant soon. Maggie asked if that was wise considering Chloe's medical history.
At the hospital, Daniel looked at a lab report of Chloe's and made a call for a second opinion. He came home with flowers and Chloe told him that dinner was a bust. They enjoyed Maggie's cake in bed. She mentioned kids and a cloud came over Daniel's face. She pushed him to tell her what he was hiding. He was honest and that there could be a problem with her having kids because of the treatment she received after being poisoned.
Maggie went home and entered the kitchen to find Mel and Nathan kissing. She was peeved, because she had been very clear about her house rules. Melanie offered to pack her things and move. "The hell you will," Nathan replied, then announced he was moving out.
Friday
Arianna loaded her gun as she spoke with someone on the phone about Victor. Brady crept in her window to surprise her with a dinner date but she assumed it was an intruder. She was relieved that it was him but freaked out and said how important it is to keep their relationship a secret, adding that she doesn't think getting back together is a good idea. Brady calmed her down and they fell into a passionate kiss, then bed.
Victor stopped by Hope's. He sympathized with Hope's troubling times, brought up what happened to Zack, and questioned her desire to move without saying good-bye to Bo face to face. Hope admitted she needs to talk to Bo and doesn't want to leave but needs to. Victor suggested she move into the Kiriakas estate instead. She agreed to try it.
A recovering Stefano wanted to see his grandchildren — and Nicole — right away. EJ had to break it to his pop that he and Nicole were estranged and recounted how she'd lied about the baby. Stefano inquired about Sydney and slipped when he said Sami is the child's mom. EJ corrected his mistake. "I get those interchangeable bleached blond liars with whom you've sired children confused," Stefano explained, then advised EJ to find Sydney and bring her home and told him that she's still his daughter. Just as Stefano to say something important to EJ, he suddenly fell into unconsciousness.
Nicole managed to sneak into EJ's house and ran right into Kate, who told her to get out pronto. Nicole handed over her keys and went to go look for something. Kate asked how she thinks EJ would feel about her skipping town and threatened to call him. She begged Kate not to tell EJ; Kate reluctantly obliged.
Justin and Chad had a meeting with Will and Mia to talk about custody of the baby. The teens started bickering. Chad wanted Will to leave but Mia preferred he stay. The boys traded barbs and Chad attacked Will. Justin broke the duo up. Chad said he's still seeking full custody. Justin explained that he knows too much about both parties to represent either one
and left. Chad stormed out. Justin told Mia that because she basically sold her baby she doesn't really have a case, legally, and that Chad's chances of getting custody are greater. Later, Chad informed Mia that he's hired a new lawyer.
Back at the hospital, it occurred to EJ that Stefano had had Nicole followed for a while and wondered if he knew about everything all along. Lexie didn't think that was the case. EJ begged Stefano to open his eyes. When he did, he asked to see Sydney and then closed his eyes again; EJ never found out what he was about to say before. Lexie asked EJ to let their father rest. After they departed, Stefano opened his eyes and had a flashback of his chat with Nicole about keeping the secret from Sami.
Justin paid Hope a visit and said he's thinking about staying town for a while. He offered to make her feel at home at the Kiriakis manse. She took one last look at her house and left. Meanwhile, Victor called Arianna and was upset when she didn't answer. She was preoccupied with Brady in bed.
Nicole boarded a plan with Sydney in tow. Sami called for an update; Nicole thanked her. Then Stefano called her and demanded she see him and bring Sydney with her.
At the DiMera manse, EJ came home and gave Kate an update on Stefano, adding that he's not getting better. "You happy? This is what you wanted, wasn't it!" he spat.
