DAYS Week of October 22, 2007
Monday
At the hospital, Philip squared off with the Johnsons, specifically Steve,
about their baby boy. When Kayla said their arguing wasn't good for Pocket,
Philip reminded them that the tot's name is Tyler. Philip said he'd be
taking the boy home once the doctor cleared him to leave. "You're not taking
our kid," Steve insisted. Philip pointed out that Tyler is not their kid.
The doctor came in with Mrs. Meyers from Child Protective Services and
reported that Pocket wasn't poisoned —he has a rare genetic disorder
called MMA (Methylmalonic Adicemia) that can be treated with medicine and
dietary restrictions. Philip said he wants to take the boy home. Ruth and
Wayne Wilkins, the baby's foster parents, came in and got the report from
the doctor. They were introduced to the Johnsons and to Philip —and
told them that they're still calling the baby Pocket. Philip said he was the
father; the Wilkins were disappointed because they said they've already
fallen in love with the boy. Mrs. Meyers told the Johnsons and Philip that
she was letting the Wilkins keep the boy for now and that they wanted to
adopt him. Philip said it would never happen. Kayla had a heart-to-heart
with Philip and asked him to really think about whether or not he was ready
to take care of the baby the way he needs to be taken care of. "I know you
have a big hole in your heart where Claire and Belle used to be, but I don't
think that Pocket can fill that up. Do you?" she asked. Philip left. Steve
and Kayla said good-bye to the boy. Steve then told Kayla to "never say
never" about them having a baby someday.
On the docks, Bo and Shawn discussed Shawn's desire to be a cop. Bo reminded
his son how dangerous it is. Shawn noted that he couldn't live his life
worrying that bad things might happen. Bo said that John's death put things
in perspective for him and admitted he couldn't bear to lose his son. While
they were talking, Commander Flynn came by with new recruits. Bo introduced
the Commander to his son and said Shawn has what it takes to be a cop. The
commander asked Shawn to meet him for breakfast at 0500 the next morning.
Shawn was thrilled. Once alone again, Bo asked Shawn when he planned to
marry Belle. Shawn said it would happen when the time is right. Bo said he
hoped it would be before Claire could be Belle's maid of honor. "It's better
with a ring," Bo smiled. Shawn left to find Belle and tell her the news
about his breakfast the next morning.
Belle and Sami comforted Marlena at her apartment. She said she didn't need
them to babysit her; the girls insisted that they weren't. "You need us,"
Sami pointed out. "And we need our mom," added Belle. "What I need is John,"
Marlena sadly replied. The conversation turned to EJ. Belle urged her sister
not to marry him. Marlena echoed the sentiment. Sami insisted that the terms
of the vendetta were clear and that she had to go ahead with the wedding.
She also explained that since EJ loved her and she didn't love him, she had
a degree of power over him. "Do you think because he loves you, that keeps
you safe," Marlena queried. "He's Stefano's son.... Do you think you can
control that?" Sami insisted that she would never be a real DiMera and asked
them to stop ganging up on her. Belle admitted she understood Sami's point.
"You're both crazy," Marlena noted. Sami got up to leave. Belle had to go
pick up Claire at pre-school, but promised to come back later.
Belle went to church to light a candle for John. Philip arrived to find her
crying and expressed his condolences. She asked about Tyler. He revealed
that the baby was in the hospital and that he was considering giving the
baby up. Belle asked why. "Because I wanted him for all the wrong reasons,"
he admitted, adding that the baby deserved two parents to raise him right.
"Tyler can't fix me," he said. "Who can?" Belle asked. "You," Philip
answered. "I love you Belle. I had everything I wanted and I lost it all. I
want it back. I want you back," then he leaned in to kiss her. Outside,
Shawn entered the church, unaware that his fiance was kissing her ex
inside.
Sami returned to Marlena's apartment. "I didn't like the way we left
things," Marlena told her daughter. Sami was relieved, because she thought
something was wrong with Marlena. Suddenly, Sami's water broke. Marlena told
her to do her breathing and she would call Lucas. "Mom, these babies are
coming now!" Sami gasped.
Tuesday
At the church, Belle pulled out of Philip's kiss, just as Shawn walked in.
He asked what was going on. She explained that she was lighting a candle for
John. "With Philip?" Shawn asked tersely. She said that Philip was there for
his own reasons. She hugged Shawn and asked him to take her home, "Where I
belong."
Bo met up with Abe at the Brady Pub to pool information about John's
hit-and-run. Abe reported that a silver sedan was traced back to a man named
Harry Jenks. Bo then got a call from Commander Flynn, who asked Bo to bring
Shawn to the station.
At Marlena's apartment, Sami was in labor. Marlena told her that the
paramedics are on the way. Sami said they weren't going to make it in time.
Marlena announced that she would deliver them. "Mom, you're a shrink. You're
not an obstetrician," Sami noted. Marlena assured her that she did an OB
rotation and could deliver the twins okay.
EJ and Lucas talked at the Pub. EJ said that when he and Sami got married,
he wanted to raise the children together. "Cold day in hell," Lucas replied.
The men faced off. Lucas's cell phone rang. It was Sami, who told him that
the twins are on the way. Lucas got up to leave; EJ asked what was going on.
Lucas didn't respond, and headed for the door. Bo asked him where he was
going and Lucas told him that Sami is in labor. "Congratulations. Hold on.
I'll grab a couple cigars," Bo smiled. Lucas asked him for a favor instead.
Bo said he was happy to help. Lucas then turned to EJ and suggested they
call a truce. He put his hand out to shake EJ's and when EJ offered his
hand, Lucas handcuffed his nemesis to a booth. EJ demanded that Lucas
release him, but Lucas just left, telling him, "I'll be back with a key
around the kids' 18th birthday." Bo and Abe chuckled. EJ asked them for the
key. "Lighten up, Elvis. Where's your sense of humor?" Bo smirked and left.
Kate arrived and found EJ trying to free himself. He told her that the
babies were coming. She wanted to leave. He confessed that he didn't want
Sami and Lucas to bond with the babies without him. EJ freed himself and
headed to Marlena's apartment with Kate.
Lucas arrived at Marlena's apartment and asked where the paramedics were.
Marlena reported there was a traffic accident. Sami was relieved to see her
husband. The baby was crowning; Marlena delivered the first baby, a boy.
Sami then got more pains because the next baby was on the way. Marlena asked
her to breathe, which made Sami realize something was wrong. Marlena told
her the cord was wrapped around the baby's neck. It was a tense few moments,
but Marlena delivered the baby girl. While they were enjoying time with the
newborns, Kate and EJ barged in. "How the hell did you get in here?" Marlena
asked. EJ noted that the twins looked like Sami, but wondered if they had
different fathers. Lucas ordered him out.
Outside the church, Shawn and Belle talked about John. Bo called and asked
Shawn to meet him at the station. Philip watched Shawn walk Belle to her
car, then went back inside and talked to God about how much he still loves
Belle. Belle came in after and told him she had car trouble. He drove her
home. She apologized for the room being a mess. He helped her make hospital
corners on the bed. He then confessed that he is still in love with her. "I
think you better leave," Belle said. "I want you back, Belle," he declared.
Philip made a passionate plea to her, declaring his love and discussing
their part relationship. "I want to make love to you," he said. Belle closed
the door and told him she didn't want him to go after all. They began to
kiss.
Bo and Shawn met up at the station. Commander Flynn told Shawn that his
enrollment in the police academy is postponed until further review. The
Brady boys asked why. Flynn told them that it was brought to his attention
that earlier in the year, Shawn defied a court order with regard to Claire
and fled the country. Bo asked who brought it to the Commander's attention.
Flynn explained he wasn't at liberty to say, then said he'd be in touch once
a decision was made. After Flynn left, Shawn lamented that he can never
catch a break, then said he was sure Philip did him in. Shawn also revealed
that he walked in on Belle and Philip at the church and it appeared they
were doing more than praying. Bo tried to defend his brother.
Wednesday
Shawn arrived at the Pub, unaware that his fiance was upstairs getting it
on with Philip. Shawn ran into Hope and told her how his enrollment into the
police academy had been deferred. He blamed Philip. Hope asked why Phil
would try to sabotage Shawn's future. Belle, Shawn replied, then told Hope
about how he felt he interrupted something in the church earlier. Hope noted
that Belle was grieving John and had a lot going on. "Belle loves you,
honey," Hope assured. "I'm just afraid she still loves Philip, too," Shawn
admitted. Hope warned him about acting too insecure about his relationship.
"You don't want her to see that you're consumed with jealousy," Hope said.
After, he asked if Belle was upstairs. Hope said she didn't know, but told
him that Philip's car was in the parking lot. Shawn went outside to check it
out, then came in, peeved that PK was in the Pub.
Upstairs, Belle felt immediate remorse after her sex romp with Philip. "This
never should have happened," she cried, then asked him to leave. "You wanted
this as much as I did," Philip replied. "It was just sex. That's all it was.
And it will never happen again," Belle insisted. Philip told her he knew she
wasn't happy. "Yes, I am. I love Shawn," she said. Belle kicked him out. "I
will never stop fighting," he vowed. An emotional Belle pulled she sheets
off of her and Shawn's bed.
While coming down the stairs, Philip ran into Shawn, who told him they
needed to talk. Shawn asked what Philip was doing in his and Belle's room.
Hope excused herself to go to talk to Belle. Philip claimed he walked Belle
to her door only. Shawn wasn't so sure. Philip wanted to leave, but Shawn
ordered him to stay. "Sounds like maybe the two of you have hit a rough
patch. Don't take it out on me," Phil shrugged. Shawn insisted he and Belle
were fine and that Belle was off-limits to Philip. "Not for long," PK said.
Shawn asked what he meant. Phil claimed Belle was miserable — and
still in love with him.
Hope brought a pumpkin for Claire into Belle and Shawn's room. She looked
around and noticed the room in disarray. She also spied a vase that broke
during the throes of passion. Belle lied that she was doing laundry and
knocked it over. Hope asked her if she had been crying. Yes, Belle replied,
over John. Hope realized there was more going on and asked for the truth
about what happened between Belle and Philip.
Lucas visited with Sami and the twins, who were now in the hospital. They
discussed baby names. Lucas suggested Julia. "Julia Roberts?" Sami joked.
They discussed EJ's comment that the babies don't look alike. Sami pointed
out that they wouldn't look alike, seeing as how they're fraternal twins.
Lucas said they should have another DNA test run.
In the hospital hallway, EJ and Kate spied Marlena talking to a lab
technician. The lab tech offered to run the DNA test again. EJ eavesdropped,
then gloated to Kate that once one of the babies was proven to be his, Lucas
would be a distant memory for Sami. Marlena overheard, ripped into Wells,
then slapped him across the face. "You're lucky it was only a slap. I would
as soon kill you as look at you," she snarled, then warned him to stay away
from her family. He told her he saw her talking to the lab consultant and
knows that one of the babies could be his. Marlena told him not to buy birth
announcements any time soon and went inside Sami's room. Sami asked Marlena
to dissuade Lucas from wanting another DNA test done, but Marlena said she
agreed with her son-in-law. Sami still didn't want it done. Marlena admitted
that one of the lab techs think they should re-run the test. Sami wondered
if EJ paid the tech off. After hearing Sami's passionate plea not to have
the test, Lucas decided to stand by his wife's wishes. "You're right. Those
kids are ours," he said. Marlena asked if she could speak to Sami alone.
Lucas said he would go to the cafeteria, but ran into Kate outside. He asked
his mother if EJ put her up to saying the twins didn't look alike. "No, he
came up with that little gem all by himself," she responded. Kate told her
son she wanted to be a proper grandmother to the twins. She gave him gifts
for the babies. Lucas told her to take them back. "Don't buy them
anything.... As far as I'm concerned, they have one grandmother. And that's
Marlena," he sniffed. "That's a hateful thing to say," a hurt Kate said. EJ
sidled up and he and Lucas squared off over the DNA test. Lucas threatened
to kill EJ with his bare hands. Sami chatted with Eric on the phone, but
hung up when a nurse came in for a DNA sample. Marlena urged her to go ahead
with it and promised that they'd deal with the results — whatever they were.
Thursday
Philip and Shawn continued their argument in the Brady Pub. Philip claimed
that Belle would always love him. Shawn told him he was crazy. "I'm done
with you," Shawn said. "No, Belle is done with you," Philip retorted. They
traded verbal barbs. "You're never gonna have Belle in your life again or
your bed," Shawn informed his uncle. "Who said she isn't there already?"
Phil smirked. Shawn punched him. Things turned violent; Caroline broke up
the brawl. She ordered Philip out. He left money for the damages.
Upstairs, Hope called Belle out on cheating with Philip. Belle denied it,
then 'fessed up that it happened once. "I was vulnerable, Hope," she cried.
Hope accused her of trying to get close to Philip ever since they returned
from Tinda Lau. Belle insisted she hadn't. "It was one crazy, stupid moment
that I wish I could take back," she sobbed. "Belle, I feel for you. My heart
goes out to you.... But I'm sorry. I will not accept you using your father's
death for a reason to cheat on Shawn," Hope told her. Hope added that her
instinct was to tell her son the truth, but Belle broke down and said she
couldn't deal with losing him. Hope reluctantly agreed to keep mum, provided
that Belle cut Philip out of her life. If she didn't, Hope said she would
tell Shawn everything.
Abe, Roman and Bo tracked down Harry Jenks, the man who was allegedly
driving the car that hit John. Harry denied knowing the DiMeras. Abe called
into the station and asked to have a squad car pick up EJ. Abe told Bo and
Roman that Harry's record was clean because his real name is Jake Jinero and
just finished up a stint in the state prison. EJ arrived, but insisted he
didn't know Jake. They let him leave. After, Abe got word that Jake's
cellmate was Andre DiMera. Abe arrested Jake. Bo asked Roman what they
should do about Sami. Nothing, said Roman. Bo said she had a right to know
that they had a lead on John's killer.
While Sami slept in the hospital room, Lucas imagined his future if one of
the children turned out to be EJ's. Sami woke up just as Roman came into see
her, bearing gifts for his grandchildren. She thanked him, then told her
father about the new DNA tests they were running. A surprised Roman left
abruptly for the station. Lucas and Sami discussed his strange behavior.
Lucas commented how EJ wants Sami and he's not going to stop until he gets
her in his bed. Sami insisted it would never happen and that she would
always love Lucas.
Caroline called Bo and asked him to come to the pub to deal with Shawn.
Shawn told his father that he lost it. "That's your explanation?" Bo asked.
Shawn recounted how Philip said he was going after Belle and would get her
back. Bo asked if Shawn trusted Belle. Shawn said he did. The men went
upstairs to Belle and Shawn's room. Belle took one look at Shawn and asked
what happened. He told her that he and Philip exchanged words and it got out
of hand. Bo and Hope left. Shawn noticed that there were new sheets on the
bed, even though Belle had changed them the day before. Belle lied that she
was bored of the other ones. Belle then tended to his eye and assured him
that Philip wasn't going to be around anymore. "He's not good for us,
Shawn.... He's a part of my past. He's my ex. You're my future. You and
Claire," she explained.
Bo and Hope arrived at Sami's hospital room. Bo was disappointed to hear the
twins were getting baths. "How can they be dirty? They were just born," he
pointed out. The Robertses told them about the new DNA tests. Bo told Sami
about Jake and his connection to Andre. "So that proves it. Killing John was
a warning to me," Sami fretted. Lucas declared he would stop EJ from
breaking up his family.
Friday
Stephanie and Chelsea moved into the sorority house in the middle of a
party. Max was in attendance. Steph groused that she would have to deal with
Morgan and Max, but Chelsea wasn't into analyzing the situation. Chelsea
decided to room with Cordy; Steph took a single. The girls then realized
they would rather room together and decided to ask Cordy to move to the
single instead. Morgan spied Max and Steph exchange a heated glance and
asked Max about it. He said they had a past, but not necessarily a future.
She said if that was the case then she would like to date him exclusively.
He wondered what her wealthy parents would think of her dating a bartender.
She admitted they'd be very unhappy. Across the room, Ford told Chelsea
about his date with Cordy. He claimed she had "serious issues." Cordy came
into the party and freaked out when Ford tried to touch her. She ran to her
room. Morgan asked Ford what he did to her. He said he just asked her to
dance and that Cordy is psycho. Chelsea and Morgan went to check on her.
Chelsea asked if Ford did something to her on their date, but Cordy said no
and claimed she was tired — of everything. "I went to the registrar's
office and I dropped all my classes. I'm leaving," she reported. They were
shocked, but agreed to support her decision. Chelsea privately noted to Max
that Ford reminded her of Jeremy. He agreed. Steph joined the conversation,
as did Morgan. Steph was bothered by Morgan and Max's closeness and ran off.
Chelsea went to check on Cordy, but she didn't want to talk. After, Chelsea
got a call from campus security that she left her car lights on. She went
outside to check and was grabbed from behind.
At the hospital, Kate implored Lucas not to cut her out of his and the
babies lives. He said that nothing had changed between them, then lamented
that one of the babies might not be his. She urged him not to be swayed by
EJ's comments. He turned on her for her meddling over the years, pointing
out that he and Sami would be happy if not for her and her trickery. She
admitted that she's made mistakes. He added that he hadn't changed his mind
about giving up the name Roberts and becoming Lucas Horton. "I can't lose
you," she said sadly. "Mom, you already have," he replied. She went to
leave, but a guilty Lucas asked her to stay.
EJ visited Sami and again suggested that he fathered one of the twins. She
refused to believe it. "Your son is the spitting image of me," EJ remarked.
"He could start speaking with a British accent and he would still be Lucas's
child," she spat. They then discussed their upcoming nuptials. Sami reminded
him that it was in name only. He told her that he was in love with her and
couldn't they try and make the best of it. They argued. He reminded her that
John was dead because she didn't want to go ahead with the terms of the
vendetta. She reluctantly told him that yes, she would marry him, but first
had to recover from the twins' birth and get a divorce from Lucas. He told
her she could get one in 24 hours if she flew down to Santo Domingo. Lucas
came in the room with the babies and ordered EJ to get away from them. Kate
remarked how precious the twins were. Lucas told Sami he wanted his mother
to spend time with the babies. Sami asked which she thought looked like
Lucas as a baby. Kate said that little John did. EJ took his leave."
