DAYS Week of October 29, 2007
Monday
At the sorority house, Max told Nick that Chelsea had vanished. Morgan and the other sisters mentioned the rapist on campus and Nick dialed Billie (AKA Mom-pus Security). Ex-cop and worried parent Billie efficiently questioned the gang about Chelsea's mental state. A call from an off-screen Jett revealed that Chelsea was set up with a fake call from Campus Security. The sisters all mobilized for Chelsea Search 2007 and Billie alerted the cops. Max called creepy ol' Ford over and asked if he knew where Chelsea was. Ford played dumb. Fed-up Nick went out to search and received a tremulous call from Chelsea of the "I'm in trouble" variety. The accented thug holding Chelsea grabbed the phone and told Nick to "come alone" (probably leaving him wondering how he stumbled into an episode of ALIAS). Back inside the sorority house, Max threatened Ford and then assured Morgan that Chelsea is "tough." He added that he didn't trust Ford (and we can hardly blame him). As Nick arrived at the rendezvous point for Chelsea and the thug, he ran smack into Artemis and DeMarquette, who had caught a cab so they could help him. He made them hide as the thug emerged. Much to Nick's shock, the thug wanted the boys in exchange for Chelsea. They started fighting as Chelsea called for help. Back at the sorority, Morgan said she couldn't "ban Ford for being a jackass," as he could talk trash about Alpha Chi Theta. Max offered up some more warnings, kissed her goodbye and left. Meanwhile, Nick urged Artemis and DeMarquette to run and begged the thugs to "leave my kids alone." His troubles grew worse, though, as he discovered a bomb strapped to Chelsea.
Down at the nursery, Kate looked at her grandkids and had a really long flashback to her conversation with Lucas about the state of things. She promised the babies she'd spoil them both. EJ strolled up to gloat and offered to "give you your son back." Yup, Elvis was offering to help Grandma win back Lucas in exchange for her convincing Lucas to divorce Sami. When little John Roman started fussing, Kate whispered sweetly to him and reminisced about Lucas' childhood. "That bond is broken," she told EJ, who kept chipping away at her like Iago. "This time you're on your own," she told him. He kept at her, "simply pointing out" their common goals. Kate held strong until the babies' name cards were switched from Roberts to Horton. Ouch. EJ offered to help her again and this time the offer was tantalizing. "I have nothing left to lose," she admitted. EJ told her that they needed to show Sami and Lucas what was at stake. He offered to set it up so Kate was "in danger," and Lucas got worried about her. He swore Lucas would never know. "I promise you it's going to be fine," he purred. "I have to do it," she then told her adorable grandbabies regretfully.
In the hospital, Lucas and Sami cuddled and kissed as EJ peeked in unseen from the doorway. They then discussed her having to marry the DiMera heir.
Sami touted the Dominican Republic for a quickie divorce and Lucas was shocked by the speed of the proceedings. "I am not giving you up," he insisted. Sami assured Lucas there would be separate beds at Chez DiMera, but he warned her of the DiMera agenda. Sami claimed she could exploit the "obvious weakness" of EJ's love for her to destroy the dastardly clan. "What happens the first time you cross him?" Lucas countered. "He's not going to let you go." He refused to divorce her, but Sami said she was doing this with or without him. Lucas urged her to let him protect his family and told her to just relax and "don't worry about EJ." Sami agreed to put the matter in his hands and they cuddled up once more. Unfortunately, she was plagued by a severely creepy nightmare of EJ listing all of her family members and her seeing their sheet-covered corpses. John's body was actually talking, telling her it was her fault and she had to "hurry." Finally, she came face-to-face with the Grim Reaper — EJ — and awoke screaming. "I'm getting that divorce," she gasped to Lucas.
Tuesday
Cordy prepared to leave the sorority house as a drunken Ford and his date showed up. Max watched as Ford heckled Cordy, who quickly disappeared. When Ford went to the kitchen for more booze, Cordy emerged. Max asked if her leaving had anything to do with her date with Ford. Cordy insisted there was nothing to talk about.
Steve and Kayla were alone when they heard a noise. They found Stephanie heading to her old bedroom. Steph said she was a mess and had a talk with her mom. She admitted to making out with a guy at a party to get back at Max. Steph explained how she'd left the sorority house because she couldn't stand seeing Max with Morgan. Kayla noted that Steph could meet another guy, but Steph wasn't interested. Steve interrupted, saying Kayla got a page from the hospital. When Kayla left to check it out, Steve asked what was going on, noting that he might be able to help if it had something to do with Max. He could talk to Adrienne about Steph working at the Cheatin' Heart — beside Max. "He'll know it's a setup," retorted Steph, apologizing for how she treated her folks during the Jeremy drama. Kayla returned and Steve went to fetch his girls some coffee. Alone, Kayla told Steph to let Max go and start over with somebody new. Steve returned and told Steph that Adrienne called and needed help at the bar. Steph said she'd think about it. "Imagine that, a job where Max works," noted Kayla, calling Steve "a hopeless romantic." Alone, Steve and Kayla got frisky, while Steph sobbed that Max would never forgive her after last night.
Nick freed Chelsea from the bomb strapped to her, but when there was pounding on the door, the bomb started beeping. Umar barged in, pulled Nick and Chelsea out of the room, and yelled for them to get down. The beeping stopped, so Umar checked things out. He realized the bomb was never on; someone just wanted to scare them. Nick wanted to see Artemis and DeMarquette. "All in due time," said Umar. The cops checked out the scene. Then, Billie and Jett showed up, and Nick explained what happened. Umar finally produced A and D, who ran to Nick. Umar sent the kids to the police car and explained that their father was alive, so it was safe for the boys to head home. Billie interrupted to ask who kidnapped Chelsea. Umar explained that enemies of A and D's dad set the whole thing up, but they'd been apprehended, so the danger was over.
Nick asked to talk to A and D, and they shared a tearful goodbye. Meanwhile, Jett approached Chelsea, admitting he missed her and suggested dinner. Chelsea brushed him off and went over to Nick. They discussed the boys and the empty apartment Nick had to go home to. Jett watched as Chelsea asked Nick to take her back to the sorority house. He figured Nick and Chelsea were on again. After a brief interruption from Billie, Jett made another attempt to get a dinner date from Chelsea. She said she'd call him.
The next morning, Morgan found Max asleep on the couch and kissed him.
Morgan said she'd been out looking for Chelsea, but finally got a text message that she was fine. Max recounted that Ford had been there last night, so Max crashed there to make sure he didn't come back. Max thought Ford was the reason Cordy was dropping out of school and noted that if he'd done something to her, he might try it on another girl.
Later, Chelsea and Nick cuddled on the sorority house couch. Chelsea went on about all the times Nick saved her, called him a hero, and said she loved him. The pair kissed. Meanwhile, Billie and Jett returned as the cops cleaned up the crime scene. Jett asked if Chelsea had mentioned him. Billie suggested Jett ask Chelsea himself. Max and Morgan interrupted Nick and Chelsea's make out session. "Don't you have something better to do?" asked Chelsea. So Max and Morgan headed upstairs. Chelsea asked Nick to stay, but he knew he had to face his apartment. Chelsea told Nick about the Halloween party the sorority was throwing and invited him to come. Nick agreed. The pair shared another kiss before he left.
Wednesday
While Bo fetched drinks at the pub, Marlena told Hope she'd bought a scrapbook for her photos of John and the family. Marlena talked about how much she missed John. Hope promised they'd find his killer. Marlena said they already knew who killed John and suggested Hope take Bo and the kids and leave town. If she'd done that, John would still be alive. Bo returned, noting they couldn't run. If they did, Stefano would win. Marlena asked Bo to help stop Sami and EJ's wedding. Bo agreed and left to talk to Sami.
Marlena noted there was another way to stop the wedding: Kill EJ!
Marlena admitted to fantasizing about it. "I'm a psychiatrist. I testify in trials...I know exactly how to set up an insanity plea," she noted, insisting the DiMeras only understood one kind of justice. She just hoped she had the courage to give it to them.
Sami told Lucas that she'd made reservations to fly to Santo Domingo so they could get a divorce. Lucas wanted to discuss it. Sami didn't. Belle interrupted, and Sami explained the latest EJ/Sami/Lucas installment. Sami asked about Belle's wedding plans. Belle said she was there for advice, because she'd slept with Philip. "I thought that you were over Philip," gasped Sami. Belle admitted she and Philip had remained close. Philip had feelings for her and she cared about him, but loved Shawn. Sami asked if Belle was sure she wanted to marry Shawn. "Yes," vowed Belle, insisting the tryst was a mistake. Belle admitted Hope knew about it, but promised not to tell Shawn. Sami urged Belle to stay away from Philip.
EJ arrived with "supplies" — namely, a gun — to orchestrate Kate's drive-by shooting. He riddled Kate's car with bullets. Then they went over their story. Kate said she'd call Roman and beg him not to tell Lucas.
Of course, Roman would, and Lucas would come running. Kate asked EJ to get glass and cut her on the head. She wanted to be bleeding for shock value. Later, cops inspected the scene, while Roman commented about the bullet casings being by the car instead of down the road. Lucas arrived and asked his mom if she was alright. He told her the DiMeras were getting desperate; she wasn't even a Brady. Kate pointed out that Lucas was married to one. Kate urged Lucas to go be with Sami. She could take care of herself. Lucas took out a gun and gave it to Kate for protection. Kate put it in her purse.
EJ arrived at Sami's hospital room and went on about Lucas being called off on an emergency involving Kate. Then, he asked if Sami still planned on going to Santo Domingo. Sami noted that Lucas refused to go. "Maybe today will be the day that he changes his mind," retorted EJ. Sami kicked EJ out. Belle pointed out the "weird vibe" between Sami and EJ. Bo arrived and told Sami all the reasons she shouldn't marry EJ. Sami insisted her mind was made up. Lucas returned, explained what happened to Kate, and said it convinced him to get a divorce. Lucas made Sami promise one thing: He still wanted to be able to see her whenever he wanted. Sami promised. She reported that Kayla and Steve agreed to watch the twins, so they could leave town right away.
At the DiMera mansion, EJ told Stefano that Lucas was close to agreeing to a divorce. He also informed his father that they were doing another DNA test on Sami's twins. EJ was sure the boy was his. Stefano was delighted. Rolf announced Kate's arrival. She pranced in, as Stefano headed upstairs to rest. Kate filled EJ in on Lucas showing up at their crime scene. EJ was thrilled, knowing Lucas would divorce Sami and pave the way for his wedding. Kate showed EJ the gun Lucas gave her and promised he'd find out what a good shot she was if Lucas ever learned the truth that EJ was responsible for the "drive-by shooting."
Back at the pub, Bo and Hope talked. Bo said things didn't go well with Sami. Hope told Bo about Marlena's ramblings about handling EJ by murdering him. Bo swore he'd understand if she did. "Vigilante justice could be the only way out," he announced.
Thursday
The Halloween party began at the sorority house. Morgan flirted with Max as Stephanie pouted. Chelsea advised Steph to get over it and asked where she'd gone last night. Steph thought back to something unpleasant, but dodged the question. She told Chelsea about her job at the Cheatin' Heart. Max interrupted, noting he heard about Steph's new gig. Nick arrived and told Chelsea he missed the boys. They were supposed to go trick-or-treating. Morgan tried to coax Cordy into the joining the party, but she refused. Steph told Max that she hoped working together wouldn't be awkward. He assured it wouldn't, since they were friends. Morgan appeared and asked what she missed. Some sorority sisters came by and complained about Ford. Max volunteered to handle him, but Morgan said she'd talk to Ford. Steph asked Max why he didn't tell Morgan about their jobs. Max admitted Morgan was concerned about his and Steph's past. Steph wondered if Max told Morgan about the cave. "I didn't go into details," noted Max, as he and Steph discussed their past and settled on being friends. When Chelsea returned, Steph admitted she blew it by letting Max get away. Ford, who was plastered, prepared to leave, but Morgan took his keys. Cordy's parents arrived to take her home. Chelsea went to fetch Cordy, who wouldn't come out of her room. Morgan volunteered to drive Ford home. When Morgan went to get her keys, Ford spiked her drink. Morgan came back and finished her drink, before leaving with Ford. Steph went to Cordy's room to tell her Ford was gone, as Chelsea coaxed Cordy into admitting what was wrong.
Finally, Cordy confessed Ford raped her.
EJ met Kate at the hospital. She informed him that the DNA tests were in and handed him the report. "Yes! I have a son," rejoiced EJ, knowing he and Sami would always have a bond. Kate reminded him of the strong bond between Sami and Lucas. EJ asked Kate to find out who was minding his son while Sami and Lucas were in Santo Domingo. Kate promised to try, while EJ left to share his daddy news with Stefano. He soon arrived at the mansion and filled Stefano in on everything, including that Sami had been calling their son John. Stefano went on about the child growing up in Italy and going to an English boarding school like EJ. Stefano wanted to meet the tyke immediately. Kate arrived on cue and informed Stefano and EJ that the babies were with Steve and Kayla. Stefano was outraged.
In Santo Domingo, Lucas had second thoughts about divorcing Sami and giving the DiMeras what they wanted. Sami suggested they take advantage of this time alone together and tried to get Lucas in the mood. There was a knock on the door and it was a messenger with their divorce papers. Lucas went off about killing EJ. A teary-eyed Sami finally signed the papers and so did Lucas. After the messenger left, Sami told Lucas they did the right thing and
promised they'd be together again. Lucas and Sami decided to enjoy their last night together. They exchanged "I love you"s. Lucas decided to give Sami a massage and went to fetch some oil. Sami noticed a paper being slid under the door and picked it up. It was a note from EJ, noting that John was his son. Sami crumpled it up and laid back down.
Soon, Lucas returned and noticed Sami's mood change. She blamed it on her hormones kicking in again. Lucas began his massage and instructed Sami to think of happy places and happy times.
Friday
Cordy told Chelsea and Stephanie that Ford drugged and raped her. Meanwhile, Morgan dropped Ford off and began feeling dizzy, the effects of the drug he'd slipped her earlier. Max realized he should have accompanied Morgan and Ford. Then he noticed Ashley's bruised lip. Cordy shared what she recalled about the rape, but wouldn't let Chelsea call the cops. Steph flashed back to a bad memory, left and asked Nick where Ford went. When Nick said Morgan drove him home, Steph told Max that Ford raped Cordy. Back at Ford's place, he laid an unconscious Morgan on his bed. Max found Ashley, who revealed Ford got rough with her, too. Nick said he had to report this, since he was on staff. Unfortunately, no one knew where Ford lived. Someone suggested checking Ford's Web cam. Chelsea found it on the Internet, and someone recognized Sebastian Hall. Max ran off. Billie arrived and was told what happened. Jett headed to Ford's place. Morgan woke up in her undies, then passed out again. Max rushed in followed by Jett, who grabbed Ford. Max carried Morgan to the sorority house. Jett dragged in Ford, who screamed they'd be sorry if they arrested him. Chelsea asked if anyone there had been attacked by Ford. Cordy admitted Ford raped her, and he was hauled off. Cordy announced she was staying at school. She needed to stop Ford from hurting anyone else. EJ headed to Steve and Kayla's to retrieve his son. Stefano proposed a toast to the latest little DiMera. Kate didn't feel like celebrating. Stefano went on about raising Johnny in Italy. "Have you run any of this by Sami?" asked Kate. Stefano insisted raising Johnny would strictly up to him and EJ. Kate wished him luck, noting Sami could be dangerous if they tried to tell her what to do. At their hotel, Steve tended to the twins and told Kayla he hated the thought of one them being EJ's. Bo sent Kayla via phone a picture of Ciara in her Halloween costume. Kayla went on about how cute she is. Steve mentioned Pocket, then grabbed the tyke's baby powder and headed towards Kayla. "Don't you dare," huffed Kayla. EJ interrupted, showed Steve and Kayla the DNA results and demanded to see his son. They refused and sent him away. Upon returning to the mansion, EJ recounted what transpired to Stefano, who promptly called Judge Lowell about a custody order. When Sami awakened from her back rub, Lucas confronted her about the note he'd found saying Johnny is EJ's son. Sami said she just wanted them to have one last nice together. Lucas worried that EJ wouldn't let him anywhere near Johnny. Sami insisted Lucas would be the one raising the boy and that together they'd protect both their babies. Sami implored Lucas to have faith that she could end this vendetta. Then, she'd come back to him and they'd live happily ever after. Hope said she'd wanted to do something special for Bo's birthday, but then everything happened with John. Bo swore he didn't need a big party, just his beautiful wife and daughter. Hope handed Bo Ciara and headed to the kitchen. She returned and gave Bo a scrapbook filled with family memories. Bo loved it. Later, he was perusing the book when Hope announced there was one gift left, and took off her robe. Bo's phone rang and he reluctantly answered because it was Kayla. She explained EJ had been there, demanding his son. Kayla wondered if she, Steve and the twins should check into another hotel. Bo had a better idea. Later, Stefano, EJ and the judge approached Steve and Kayla's room. A guard informed them the suite had been quarantined. No one was allowed in. "Round one to the Bradys," said Steve. Kayla called Bo and recounted what happened. "It worked?" asked Hope. "But stirred up the hornet's nest," replied Bo.
