DAYS Week of September 27, 2010
Monday
Ian told Stephanie that Daniel wasn't the one who switched the paternity test results, when Kayla interrupted. She asked Steph about what she'd overheard. Steph explained that Chloe was pregnant, Philip was the daddy, and neither Chloe, Philip, nor Daniel knew the truth. Steph recounted how she got Ian to hack into the hospital computer. Kayla was shocked. Steph defended herself, noting that if Melanie and Philip got divorced, Melanie would go running back to Nathan and ruin her life. Steph went on about finding the paternity test results switched and that neither Philip, Chloe or Daniel did it. Kayla fumed, insisting that whoever switched the results did a terrible thing and it needed to be fixed. Steph whined about what that would do to her, knowing Nathan would leave her and run to Melanie. "Then he isn't worth keeping," retorted Kayla. Steph ran off.
Nathan happened upon Carly, who went on about how happy Daniel was with Chloe. Nathan made a crack against Chloe, when Daniel walked up. Carly split, and Nathan apologized to Daniel. Daniel asked what Nathan's problem was with Chloe. Nathan swore he didn't dislike Chloe. He disliked what she did. "What did she do?" asked Daniel, surmising Nathan was talking about Chloe and Daniel's affair when she was married to Lucas. Nathan said that was it. Daniel defended Chloe, noting she and Lucas were wrong for each other. Nathan called Steph from the pier and left a message that he'd screwed up. Steph turned up behind him and admitted she did, too. Meanwhile,Daniel arrived at Steph's apartment. He found Kayla there and assumed she was in town to see Hope. Kayla noted that wasn't the only reason and asked to talk to him.
Brady taunted Vivian about how he might be nominated for the Nobel peace price, after ridding Salem of her. Vivian swore she'd get even and went on about how awful the sarcophagus was. Brady pointed out that was where Vivian was going to put Maggie. He went on about all the lives that had improved, since she vanished. Then, he thought about his mother who was stuck in a pet cemetery. He threatened to finish Vivian off. Vivian encouraged him to do it. Brady said he wasn't stupid enough to lift the lid, so she could yell for. Besides, he had a more pressing matter.
"Can't you forgive and forget?" Nicole asked Chloe, begging her not to turn her back on her, like Brady did. Chloe swore she still wanted to be friends with Nicole, but didn't feel safe with her. Chloe wondered if this was why Nicole was alone. "Are you saying nobody loves me? That's a lie," said Nicole. Chloe pointed out Nicole had no friends in Salem. Nicole said she knew where there was someone who loved her and left. She turned up at a pet cemetery to visit Pookie's grave. Nicole thought back to happy times with Pookie and Chloe; then, cried, realizing she was alone. Keith, the cemetery director, approached Nicole and tried to comfort her. Nicole wasn't interested and walked off to find her sunglasses. Brady arrived and told Keith his pet orangutan, Sparkles, needed to be dug up and moved. Keith hemmed and hawed. Brady got angry. Nicole eavesdropped.
Carly arrived at Chloe's apartment, saying they had to make sure Nicole kept quiet. Chloe was more worried about Carly, who risked so much to keep her secret. Carly said she thought Daniel and Chloe were meant to be together. Chloe asked who interrupted Carly, when she was leaving her phone message earlier. Carly said it was Nathan, and Chloe made a face. Carly asked if Nathan was the man Chloe slept with.
EJ woke up and asked for Sami. Arianna ran to fetch Lexie. They returned, and EJ asked for his "wife." Sami was off telling Rafe the good news that Kate called and Stefano didn't suspect Will of shooting EJ any more. Rafe didn't think it was good news, if Will really shot EJ. He feared Will would be a prime suspect, since he didn't have a strong alibi. Rafe wondered if there was something Sami wasn't telling him. Sami decided to 'fess up, when Rafe's phone rang. It was Arianna, telling him to get to the hospital with Sami; EJ was waking up. Later, Arianna told Rafe that EJ thought Sami was his wife. Rafe took off to clear that up. EJ wasn't happy to see Rafe and asked why he was there. Rafe was about to tell him, when Lexie pulled him away. Sami refused to go into EJ's room, fearing he'd get upset. Arianna explained that EJ only remembered up to a certain point in their wedding ceremony. Rafe didn't buy it. Sami finally went in to see EJ.
Tuesday
Sami removed her engagement ring from Rafe and entered EJ's room. He told her he loved her and was happy to see her. She was confused, especially when he referenced going on their honeymoon. She asked what he remembered. He struggled beyond them exchanging vows, then he started freaking out when he realized that there were bandages on his head. His monitors went haywire. "Who did this to me?" he asked her.
Lexie got weepy when she saw EJ's test results. Rafe asked if he was going to make it. She reported that EJ would probably make a full recovery.... Lexie responded to EJ's crisis. His blood pressure spiked; he asked to see Sami. She was outside talking to Rafe, insisting she would not pretend to married to EJ. Lexie overheard and said she would have to if she wanted to keep EJ alive. Dr. Carver explained that EJ might never recover his memories and he couldn't be upset right now. Sami went back in. EJ took her hand and noticed she wasn't wearing her ring. He asked where it was. She lied that she gave Sydney a bath and took it off. He wanted to see the children. Sami told Lexie, who urged Sami to play along that they were a happy family. Lexie then got one of the servants to bring Sami's rings and the kids over to the hospital. EJ was thrilled to see them. Johnny slipped that he now lived at Sami's with her and Rafe.
On the pier, Stephanie broke down in Nathan's arms. She told him about her fight with Kayla and that her mother was disappointed in her. Nathan asked if it was because they moved in together. She replied that Kayla approved of him, but not of the depth of Steph's feelings for him. She elaborated that the problem was between her and her mother, not him.
Daniel was confused when Kayla wanted to talk to him about Chloe. He misunderstood and apologized for not letting her know Chloe was expecting. She said that wasn't it. He went on about how wonderful his life is, between Chloe, the pregnancy and Melanie. Daniel's cell phone rang while they were recalling hospital memories. Kayla noted that hospitals make mistakes — even the best ones. Daniel was called away before they could talk about the baby. Stephanie returned home and she and Kayla talked things out. Kayla wondered if perhaps there was a mistake with the test and it hadn't really been switched. She said she would look into it. Steph was relieved.
Carly asked Chloe if her one-night stand was with Nathan. Chloe danced around it and showed Carly a permit for her and Daniel to marry in the park the next week. Chloe insisted Daniel meant the world to her and she didn't want to look back on that one-night stand anymore.
Philip and Melanie returned to Maggie's, disappointed that they hadn't found a new home. They had sex, then got a call about a new house that was two blocks from Maggie's. Philip put in a bid for it. Melanie went to the Brady Pub and saw Nathan. She flashed back to him saying he loved her in his sleep. Carly arrived to meet Melanie, so Nathan excused himself. Carly could tell Mel was rattled and asked if everything was okay. Melanie told her what Nathan said in his sleep, but insisted she loved her husband. Carly believed Philip was a better choice than Nathan anyway.
Chloe ran into Philip on the pier. They talked about how happy they were and he wanted assurance that Carly didn't know the truth about their night of passion. Chloe revealed that Carly suspected she slept with Nathan. "Trust me. She's never gonna know that it was you," Chloe vowed.
Wednesday
Keith told Brady he'd arrange to have "Sparkles" remains back to him as soon as possible and left to do the paperwork. Brady drank from his flask and cursed out Vivian as Nicole watched and wondered what he was rambling about. Brady gave Keith an address to send "Sparkles'" and split. Nicole approached Keith and pumped him for information about Brady and his orangutan. She wondered why Brady was moving his pet. Keith left to tend to a burial. Alone, Nicole wondered what was going on. "Brady never even had a goldfish much less a pet orangutan," muttered Nicole.
Victor visited "Isabella," noting there wasn't a day that went by that he didn't think of his precious daughter. Inside the sarcophagus, Vivian rambled that she was still alive and knew Victor missed her terribly. "Please Victor, find me," she begged. Brady arrived and resumed taunting Vivian. He went on about how Vivian's leaving Salem gave Victor a new lease on life. Vivian refused to listen, insisting Victor would save her and that Brady's plot would go up in flames. Brady noted that Victor would kill her when he found out what she did to Isabella.
Nicole turned up at the Kiriakis mansion and found Victor. She mentioned Vivian leaving him and brought up the subject of pets. Did Brady ever have a pet orangutan? Victor made a crack about her ridiculous question and told Nicole to leave. Nicole fretted about Brady. Henderson suggested she check the mausoleum. Nicole headed there. Meanwhile, Brady scoffed that Vivian was clinging to false hope. Vivian begged Brady to have some compassion. Nicole listened as Brady chastised Vivian. "You brought all of this on yourself, honey," he spat. Brady returned home and Victor told him Nicole had been there looking for him. Nicole walked into the mausoleum and noticed Brady's earpiece on the floor. Nicole put it on and heard Vivian praying for someone to hep her. Nicole was stunned.
Stefano got a call from Lexie telling him EJ was awake and summoned him to the hospital. A joyous Stefano informed Kate he was heading off. Kate fretted that Stefano would find out she drove Sami to shooting EJ. She wondered if this would be a good time to tell him Chad was his son. Then, she had a change of heart, remembering Stefano hated Chad.
Johnny mentioned that he and Sami were living with Rafe. EJ wanted to discuss it. Sami dodged, when Lexie interrupted. Sami left. Rafe asked what was wrong. Sami noted that Johnny mentioned their living situation. Lexie told Sami she had to fix things. If EJ's blood pressure rose he could have a brain hemorrhage. Sami returned to EJ's bedside. Meanwhile, Chad delivered a package to Lexie. He told her he was pulling for EJ. Sami explained to EJ that she and the kids were staying at the pub. EJ freaked about his wife not residing at the mansion. Sami calmed him down, promising they'd all be together when he left the hospital. EJ professed his love, and he and Sami shared a passionate kiss, just as Rafe walked in. Stefano arrived at the nurses' station, and Chad told him he was praying for EJ. Stefano rebuffed him. EJ asked Rafe why he was back in his room and wondered what Rafe and Sami were keeping from him. Stefano walked in, and Sami and Rafe left. EJ told Stefano that Sami was his savior. "She's what's kept me going through all of this," he said. Stefano couldn't bear hearing his words. Rafe and Sami discussed the complicated situation with EJ. Sami hated pretending with EJ. She wanted Rafe, and they kissed. The pair headed off to the pub, where Rafe tried to cheer up Sami. Meanwhile, EJ went on to Stefano about not losing Sami as long as she kept believing he thought they were still married. "I remember, Father. I remember everything," confessed EJ.
Chad arrived at the mansion, having been summoned by Kate. She offered him a job at DiMera Enterprises. Chad doubted Stefano would go for it. Kate thought Stefano would come around and said she wanted to see more of Chad. Chad was flattered, but not comfortable with the situation. Kate caught on and assured Chad she wasn't making a pass at him. She was a happily married woman. Kate said Chad was great guy, and she just wanted the best for him. She was sure Stefano would feel the same way once he got to know Chad better.
Thursday
Victor was filling Brady in on Nicole's bizarre visit, when Brady realized his Bluetooth was missing. He started looking for it to no avail. Victor told him to buy a new one, and Brady left.
Nicole heard Vivian begging for help through the Bluetooth and asked who she was talking to. Vivian turned on her monitor, noting she was inside the sarcophagus. Nicole thought she'd had one too many drinks. "You're not losing your mind, but I'm going to lose mine unless you help me out of here," begged Vivian. She asked Nicole to open the sarcophagus. Nicole tried, just as Brady arrived. "What the hell are you doing?" he asked. Nicole noted that Vivian was in the sarcophagus. "And you are not shocked or surprised, because you put her in there. Didn't you?" she asked. Brady pooh-poohed the whole thing. Nicole assumed he was helping Victor. Vivian begged Nicole to do the right thing, when Victor arrived. Nicole quickly realized Victor had no idea Vivian was in the sarcophagus. Victor wondered what was going on. Brady said he and Nicole were still in each other's lives. Victor couldn't believe they were having a tryst in a mausoleum and left. Brady thanked Nicole for keeping mum. "Don't thank me yet," she said.
Kate was on her way out, when Will stopped by the DiMera mansion to pick up some of his stuff. Kate mentioned everyone finding out who shot EJ, now that he'd regained consciousness.
"What? That bastard's gonna make it?" snapped Will. Kate didn't think Will should go around voicing that he wished EJ had died, particularly since Stefano wanted revenge. Kate and Will agreed that neither Stefano nor EJ could know about her call to Sami.
Rafe surprised Sami, Johnny and Allie by taking them to their totally furnished new home. Sami got emotional, but worried what EJ would say when he found out. Rafe said EJ didn't get a vote in that. Will arrived, having been summoned by Rafe. While Rafe took Johnny and Allie to see their rooms, Will and Sami discussed EJ, his amnesia, and what Sami did. Rafe walked in and Will covered, noting he couldn't believe Sami accepted an engagement ring from Rafe right after dumping EJ. Rafe apologized for not talking to Will first, and the trio shared a hug. Sami went to check on the twins, and Will and Rafe discussed protecting Sami from EJ. Then, Will took Johnny and Allie out for ice cream. Alone, Sami told Rafe she had something to tell him. Instead of confessing to the shooting, she rambled on about their new home. Rafe noted talking to Daniel earlier. Daniel told him he wanted to marry Chloe right away, and Rafe was inspired by that. "I want to marry you as soon as I possibly can," he said.
EJ ‘fessed up to Stefano that he was faking amnesia and remembered everything that happened – Rafe interrupting his and Sami's wedding and his plotting to run off with Johnny and Sydney. EJ said he wasn't going to stand for Sami having his children while she was with Rafe. EJ's hospital monitors started sounding off. Stefano yelled for help. Later, Nathan emerged, noting he'd adjusted EJ's medication and that his blood pressure was going down. Kate arrived and Stefano told her what happened. Then, he confided that EJ was faking his amnesia, adhering to their no more secrets pact. Kate promised to keep mum. Nathan was back in EJ's room asking him questions about what he remembered. EJ got angry and yelled at Nathan to leave, throwing things at him. Nathan left and told Stefano he could go inside. Stefano sat at EJ's bedside. EJ reiterated that he remembered everything and wanted out of there. He said he'd continue to fake his amnesia, until he figured out a way to take Johnny and Sydney away from Sami. Stefano loved the devious plan. He asked EJ if he knew who shot him. "Yes. Yes, I do," replied EJ.
Friday
"I shot myself," EJ admitted to a stunned Stefano. EJ explained how his world fell apart. He lost everything. So he started drinking, took the gun out of the desk, went up to Sami's room, and put it to his head. Bang! Then, he passed out. Stefano said that was impossible. There was no gunpowder on EJ's hands, and the doctors said the wound couldn't have been self-inflicted. Stefano insisted it was an inside job. EJ thought he knew who did it: Nicole. Stefano noted it couldn't have been Nicole. She was with an FBI guard at the time. He also realized EJ was trying to divert his attention from the two obvious suspects, Will and Samantha. Stefano noted he'd cleared Will. His fingerprints weren't on the desk. He said it had to be Sami, noting she tried to off EJ again when he was in a coma, ordering the doctors to pull the plug on him. EJ couldn't believe his ears.
Melanie checked out a new house on her laptop, telling Maggie it was perfect and just two blocks away from hers. Philip walked in and delivered the bad news: someone upped their offer and got the place. An annoyed Melanie left with Philip. Alone, Maggie wondered how a house that was on the market for eight months was suddenly in a bidding war. Could it be someone didn't want Philip and Melanie to have the house? Yup. Across town, Victor ordered his realtor to close the deal. Philip and Melanie sat at the pub and discussed that this was the second house they lost this way. Meanwhile, Victor showed up at Maggie's to visit Philip and Melanie. Maggie invited him in. Philip and Melanie returned. When Victor went off to take a phone call, the trio discussed Philip and Melanie's real estate problems and realized Victor was responsible. He wanted them to stay with Maggie, so he had an excuse to visit. Philip called his realtor and got confirmation that Victor was was on a house buying spree. Melanie came up with an idea. When Victor returned, she suggested she and Philip move back in with him. Victor left to go tell Henderson.
Nicole chastised Brady for putting Vivian in the sarcophagus. "It's wrong Brady, and in your heart, you know it is," she contended. Nicole pointed out how she had spent countless hours pleading with Brady to cover for her. Now the shoe was on the other foot. "Are you going to rat me out?" asked Brady. Nicole said it would be for Brady's own good. Brady explained the sarcophagus was equipt with "the necessities of crypt life" and that Vivian wanted him to put her in there, so she could atone for her sins. Vivian and Nicole both retorted, "Liar!" Brady revealed the truth: Vivian planned to put Maggie in there, because she was jealous of her. Nicole finally got why Brady did this, but she didn't think he should leave Vivian to die in there. Nicole knew this would eat away at Brady. Brady insisted he'd toughened. "I don't believe that," said Nicole. "I'll bet she does," retorted Brady, knocking on the sarcophagus. Nicole insisted they had to set Vivian free. Brady protested, knowing if he did, she'd go after the people he loved. Nicole suggested they make a deal with Vivian. Brady suggested he make a deal with Nicole. He doubted she'd turn him in. "You love me, remember?" said Brady, noting how he and Nicole had a good thing going and how Vivian taught him not to be judgmental. Brady kissed Nicole passionately, but she slapped him, realizing he was playing her. Brady went on about Nicole always fighting for him and kissed her again. This time, she responded by ripping open his shirt. Vivian couldn't bear to watch.
Sami and Rafe discussed getting married as soon as possible. Rafe went on about how perfect Green Mountain Lodge would be. They could go there, take the kids, and get married. Sami thought back to shooting EJ. Rafe realized something was bothering her. Sami dodged. Rafe assured Sami that nothing she told him would make him stop loving her. Plus, he couldn't protect her or the kids without knowing what was going on. Roman arrived, noting that he was on his way to talk to EJ about what he remembered about the night he was shot. Later, Roman arrived at the hospital, walked into EJ's room, and said he was there to question him. Back at their new apartment, Sami decided to level with Rafe. "I know who shot EJ," she announced.
