During the struggle between Justin and Dean at the Brady home, a shot rang out. Justin lay immobile. A desperate Dean trained his gun on Hope. Hope called out for Bo as a ruse, which made Dean turn his head. She and Dean fought for the gun while she yelled to Ciara to run away. Ciara didn't go fast enough so Dean made her come back inside. Hope took Ciara in her arms. Justin stirred. Dean asked for rope and duct tape — and bleach to wipe away Justin's blood. Justin opened his cell phone and surreptitiously dialed Bo.

Roman sat with Bo at the Brady Pub. Bo unloaded on his brother about Justin, noting he wanted his cousin to "stay the hell away" from him and Hope. Bo got the call from Justin and noted to himself that it was the last person he wanted to hear from. Bo picked up and could overhear Hope telling Dean to leave Ciara alone. He ran out.

Back at the house, Hope asked Dean why he kidnapped Ciara. Dean said he wanted to cause Hope as much pain as possible. Hope asked why. Dean told her she "whored herself up the ranks" and stole his job. She said it wasn't true, which angered him. She changed tactics and agreed that it was all her fault. Justin began groaning. Dean went to shoot him just as Bo burst through the door and tacked him. He beat up Dean, then the cops rushed in to handcuff him. Ciara ran into Bo's arms. Hope yelled that they needed an ambulance for Justin. Dean told Bo that if he had just paid the ransom, none of this would have happened and that Brenda and Kyle's lives were on his head.

Victor came across an upset Arianna in the park. He pointed out that her dumping Brady was for the best.

Philip told Melanie that she understood him in a way no one else had. He went to kiss her, but Brady walked in and interrupted. He noted that Philip had already moved on to his next conquest, which raised Phil's ire. Melanie defended Philip. Brady accused Phil of using Melanie. Phil insisted he didn't and that he cared about Mel. Mel told Philip to leave. She sat with Brady and talked about Philip. He asked if she secretly hoped Phil would fall for her now that he was single. She denied it, then asked if he thought that could happen. The conversation turned to Arianna. He revealed that they had split. There was a knock at the door; it was Ari. Awkward! Brady excused himself. Melanie asked Ari why she broke up with him. Ari gave a lame response, then settled for "I am not good enough for him." Brady came back into the kitchen. Ari took off, but before she did, she pointed out to Brady that they would run into each other in a small town like Salem and that it would be better if they pretended they didn't. Brady said that worked for him. After Ari left, Melanie told Brady she didn't buy Ari's reasons for dumping him.... A frustrated Arianna met with her contact — Roman! — and said she couldn't do it anymore.

Philip went home and talked to Victor, who was surprised to see him there. Phil explained he was picking up the last of his things. They discussed the videotape. Victor was surprisingly supportive, but for the wrong reasons. He felt it put Stephanie in her place. Philip sighed that Victor didn't understand anything and went to pack. Victor implored him not to move out and said that Philip could return to the family on his own terms. "You can bus tables at the Brady pub for all I care," he said, adding that he loved his son and just wanted his family around him. Philip smiled and agreed to stay.

At Java, Mia wrote about Chad and Will in her online diary. She spilled something and went to get napkins. She then realized that Will was there, too — and he was reading her entry. She panicked, but he said he only saw the name Chad in it. He asked what was going on between them. Nothing, she insisted, then assured Will things were over with Chad. They rehashed the dance. He said she was secretive and asked if there was anything else he needed to know. She didn't say anything, so he told her they were through.

Maggie ran into Chad outside the Brady Pub. She told him she knew that Mia covered for him after he broke into her home and said they needed to chat. They sat down at the Pub and Chad explained that he went to Maggie's because he knows Mia has a secret and he's determined to find out what it is. He told Maggie he thought Mia's rehab story was a lie because Mia would never abuse drugs or alcohol. Maggie urged Chad to get over Mia since she was now dating Will. Chad said he couldn't. He went to Java and saw Mia sitting alone. She told him she and Will were through. He hoped it meant there was a chance for him to be with Mia but she said there was no chance for them "after what happened." She added that nothing turned out the way she expected and that Chad had "ruined everything," adding, "Leave me alone!"

Maggie left the Pub and saw Will, who told her he broke up with Mia. She asked what happened. He explained that she wasn't being honest with him and he suspected it had something to do with Chad. Maggie gave him a reassuring hug.
