DAYS Week of September 8, 2008
Monday
Marlena ran into John, but she didn't want to stop to talk. She explained that she was starting over without him and that she had wasted too much time on him. She added that she had a supper date with Trent. John pointed out that they were still married and he didn't want her seeing Trent. She told him he was a hypocrite, since he dated Ava for months, then walked off. He followed.
Kate had coffee with Tony and asked about him moving back into the DiMera manse. Anna came in and said she was dead set against it. Lexie entered and asked for time alone with her brother. She chatted with him about Stefano, but he insisted he knew exactly what he was doing.
Anna table-hopped to Morgan, who was on the hunt for an internship. Anna thought she could help. She went to talk to Kate, who had yet another coughing fit. An alarmed Anna wanted to take her to the ER, but Kate begged off. Anna told Kate she had a great intern for her. Kate said to send the girl to meet with her assistant, Chris.
Hope surprised Bo with a romantic picnic in the park and his favorite foods. She told Bo that she had talked to Daniel earlier about Chelsea. They spent quality time together.
Philip joined Lucas at the Brady Pub. Lucas told his brother that the judge awarded him joint custody of Allie and he was worried about Sami's reaction. Philip stared at Morgan; Lucas urged him to go talk to her. She was cold, noting that it was hard to forgive him after he threatened to kill her father. She told him to take care of himself and walked away. Tony sat with Philip and told him that Tony and EJ were now controlling the family business and wanted to align with Philip to bring down John.
At the mansion, Sami played with Allie and Johnny and told them she wouldn't let them be separated. EJ came in, overheard, and told her she really didn't have a choice. Sami said she had a bad feeling about Allie being taken way from her. He noted she would have had a better case with the judge had she stayed married to him. She scoffed at that. He reminded her that she had no income or permanent residence. John and Marlena came in as they were arguing. Sami explained that she was upset over the joint custody situation. Marlena told her that she should leave well enough alone. Sami told them to go to hell and stormed out of the room. John followed her and offered support to her. A thankful Sami hugged him and wept. Back in the living room, EJ's phone rang. It was Lucas, who told him he was on his way to pick up Allie. The doorbell rang. Sami was surprised to see her ex, who announced that he was there to get his daughter. Sami had a teary good-bye with Allie. EJ tried to comfort her. She vowed to "fix" things and hurried off.
Tuesday
Steve was at the Pub with Joe and called Kayla to discuss Joe's doctor's appointment. She thanked him for opening the PI business so she could cut back on her hospital hours and spend more time with Joe. They then talked about Stephanie and when she'd be returning to Salem.
Kate made an appointment to see Kayla because of her cough. Kayla told Kate she needed a chest X-ray, but Kate was in a hurry and didn't want to stick around. Daniel passed Kate while she was on her way out. He asked Kayla why Kate was in the trauma center. Kayla gave Daniel the file since he was Kate's doctor on record.
Lucas, Allie and a seasick Chloe arrived at the Horton cabin. He gave Chloe the baby while he went to to get her some stomach medication. After, Lucas put Allie to bed and then he and Chloe looked through an album of old Horton family photos. They had sex, then Lucas wanted to get firewood. Allie began to cry; Chloe rolled her eyes, but tried to calm a fussy Allie down. Lucas returned; Chloe lamented that she wasn't maternal. Lucas said the most important thing was that they were together.
Steve called Hope and asked her to gather whatever information she had on Trent. She brought a file to the Pub and revealed that Trent had an alias, but other than that, there wasn't any dishy dirt on him. Steve asked if he was married. Hope said yes, but she didn't know to whom. Nicole walked in and overheard their conversation. She got nervous when they mentioned locating Trent's wife. She beelined to Trent and tattled that Steve was investigating him. Bo joined Hope and Steve and Steve said he was worried about the kids being in France.
In Marseille, Steph and Max searched for Melanie, who was suddenly MIA. Nick called Max and told him that he found Melanie, but Max lost the connection before Nick could reveal her whereabouts. There was a knock at the door. It was Chelsea, who greeted Steph with a "Bonsoir, mon amie." Steph and Max updated Chelsea on their trip. When Max left, Steph gave Chels the real scoop on Melanie, that she was a lying, cheating, stealing, gold-digger. Max returned with a cop and revealed that he found Mel.
Melanie was aboard a friend's yacht. Her phone rang; it was Trent, who admitted to her that he had racked up gambling debts. Trent said she could wipe the slate clean if she would have a drink with his friend, Claude. She balked at him pimping her out and hung up on him. Nick came into her stateroom. She told him he should probably go, but he noted that she shouldn't be alone. A goon came in and knocked out Nick. Melanie freaked out, but the goon pulled out a gun and told her to get dressed. Nick regained consciousness. Three goons came in next and took Nick away. A frantic Melanie apologized to Nick for getting him involved, then vowed not to forgive Trent for getting her mixed up with the creeps. After, Melanie sat with Claude, who offered Melanie champagne. She told him she didn't drink. He tried to get cozy with her, but she said no, so he brought in a tied-up Nick and said he would kill Nick unless Melanie did what Claude said. She began to cry when Claude danced with her. Melanie took the drink from Claude and shot Nick a look. He unbound his hands and knocked out one of the goons. He then punched Claude. The goon came to and shot Nick. The cops rushed in, with Max. Max beat up Claude. Melanie tended to Nick. Chelsea came in next, while Nick was being worked on by the EMTs. Max asked Melanie what happened.
Outside the Brady Pub, Morgan met with Kate's assistant, Chris, about an internship. He revealed he Web searched her and it made him feel like Harriet the Spy. "As far as I'm concerned, you're hired," Chris announced, then told her that their boss would be Kate Roberts. "I'm sorry, Chris, but this interview's over," she said, adding that Kate hates her. Kate, who was still at the hospital, called Chris. He started to tell her about the new intern, but Kate cut him off and said to just hire whoever it was. She hung up. Daniel approached and asked Kate why she was scared to get a chest X-ray. She insisted she wasn't and said she'd come back to the hospital to do it.
Wednesday
Nicole and EJ chatted in the DiMera mansion. Sami barged in and came down on EJ for not helping her fight to get Allie back. He pointed out that Allie was not his daughter and that this fight was more about Sami. A bored Nicole sighed, "I wish I could change the channel. Is there anything better on?" More bickering ensued between Sami and Nicole. EJ blew up at both of them, saying he couldn't solve all their problems, seeing as how he had enough of his own with his family drama. An angry Sami stormed out, determined to deal with the Allie situation on her own. EJ came back to find an empty living room, noticed that Allie's teddy bear was missing and realized Sami took off to the cabin. Nic was peeved that he left.
At the Horton Cabin, Lucas noted to Chloe that Allie was fussy because she missed Sami. After, the two got busy in the outdoor shower. Allie cried, so they came in to tend to her. Chloe calmed her by singing to her. It worked, which pleased Chloe. Chloe went back out to the shower to rinse the shampoo out of her hair. Sami came in and called out for Lucas. She gave Allie her bear, heard the water running and realized Lucas and Chloe had left the baby alone. She picked Allie up just as EJ came in and told her to put the baby down before things got ugly. Sami said she would never leave Allie alone with Lucas again. Back in town, Nicole called the cops to report a kidnapping. EJ asked Sami if she was going to take Allie, but she scoffed at that, noting that she just wanted to give Allie her teddy bear and would go through proper channels to get her daughter back. Lucas came in at the tail end of the conversation and told Sami she had to get away from the baby. They argued. The cops arrived, looking for Sami.
Philip tried to talk to Morgan at the Brady Pub, but she wasn't interested in talking to him ever again. She was frustrated that Philip didn't understand why she didn't want to be involved with him anymore. He apologized about her father, but insisted that he had nothing to do with it. Philip's cell phone rang; it was Daniel, requesting he go to the hospital to talk about Kate. Morgan asked if everything was okay. Philip said it had to do with Kate and asked Morgan to go with him. She balked, then agreed. At the hospital, Kate wasn't thrilled to see Morgan with her son. Morgan took off in a huff. Kate asked Philip what he was doing there. He explained that Daniel called him. Philip pointed out to Kate that no woman would ever be good enough for him or Lucas in Kate's eyes. Daniel interrupted their chat, explaining that he hoped Philip could talk Kate into getting an X-ray. Kate insisted an X-ray wasn't necessary. Kate and Philip resumed the Morgan talk. Philip said he had sincere feelings for Morgan, which a nearby Morgan overheard. The conversation turned back to Kate and Philip was horrified to realize that Kate and Daniel had a fling. Kate left while Philip tried to come to grips with the news. "No wonder you're so worried about her," Philip noted to Daniel, then asked if Chelsea knew. When Daniel said she did, Philip called him dysfunctional and disloyal for good measure. Daniel insisted he never meant to hurt Chelsea or Kate. Daniel went back to work. Morgan approached Philip and said she overheard everything. Philip realized that he shouldn't judge the situation. He told Morgan they should be discussing their relationship instead and kissed her.
Aboard the yacht in Marseille, the cops questioned Nick and Melanie, but neither one would talk, which angered Max. Chelsea chewed out Melanie for getting Nick in trouble. Nick weakly stated that it wasn't Melanie's fault. The paramedics took Nick away, but first he asked Chelsea to visit him at the hospital. After, Chelsea and Max had a heart to heart over Daniel, then she took off with Stephanie. Max then shared a sweet good-bye with Melanie, who worried that Nick wouldn't forgive her. Max assured her he would and left. Melanie got a text from Trent, asking if she was okay. She threw the phone down in anger. At the hotel, Chelsea told Stephanie how Daniel slept with Kate and that she couldn't get over it. Steph asked if she came to France to try and reunite with Nick. "Not exactly," she replied, but didn't elaborate. Max came back to the hotel and said he planned to kill Trent when they returned to Salem.
Thursday
Chelsea and Stephanie reacted to Max's declaration that he would kill Trent when they returned to Salem. Max told them about what happened with Claude. They weren't so sure that Melanie was innocent in all of it, though Max defended her. Melanie walked in to tell them good-bye. Max didn't want to leave her. She headed to the hospital to say farewell to Nick. Chelsea wasn't thrilled. Once alone, Steph worried to Max that she would lose him over his Trent obsession. He promised her she wouldn't and they made love.
At the hospital, Nick and Melanie were flirty. She wanted to see the bullet hole in his shoulder and took a peek. She called Nick sexy, which made him ask if she was always so forward. He mentioned that he dated Chelsea; Melanie said that she couldn't see them together. She told him she was happy Chelsea dumped him and leaned in to give him a kiss. Chelsea spied the lip lock from the doorway and hurried off. Melanie said good-bye to Nick and left. Chelsea came in after to check on her ex. They had a heart to heart about Daniel. Nick assured her that she would meet a good guy. She shyly asked about Melanie; Nick smiled that he knows that she saw them kissing. Melanie returned to the hotel and told Max she would go to Salem with him.
Morgan and Philip made out in front of the Brady Pub, then went in. She agreed to give them a second chance as long as he didn't push things and was honest. He was pleased, then invited her to go away with him for a few days. She said with school, the sorority and her new internship, she didn't have time. She told him she'd be working for his mom at Hearth and Home, just as Kate approached the table. Kate was surprised to hear about the internship. Philip pulled her aside to talk. Kate agreed to keep Morgan on board. Philip mentioned that he and Morgan might be leaving town. Victor came in, overheard, and told Philip he didn't want him to go. He then asked Philip to talk to him outside, where he questioned his son's commitment to Titan. Philip insisted he takes his job seriously. Victor apologized for snapping. The conversation between the men took a more personal turn, and Philip admitted he wished Victor and Kate were still together. He told his father about Kate refusing the hospital tests. He then indicated that something was up with Daniel and Kate, too. Kate sat down with Morgan, then had a coughing fit. Morgan fetched her water. Kate asked Morgan not to tell Philip about her coughing. Vic and Phil returned; Vic asked to speak to Kate and confronted her about Daniel and Chelsea. Kate tried to explain. Victor wondered where Chelsea took the jet. To France, Kate informed him.
Nicole sat at a table at the Pub. Trent sat down with her and told her he needed money. Nicole said she didn't have as much as he thought. He asked her to please help, which made her realize that he was in serious debt if he used the word please. She chastised him for continuing to gamble. Since she refused to give him the money, he got up and went to Victor's table and introduced himself. Nicole pulled Trent away. "What the hell was that all about?" Victor asked.
Marlena went to see John at the DiMera mansion because he told her she left something there. Turned out, it was a hair band. He noted that she had a new outfit on and told her that he didn't want her to see Trent. She told him too bad and suggested he was jealous. He said he cared about her so much that he didn't want her to get hurt. She went to leave. He asked if she was giving up on them. She clarified that she was just letting go. She brought up Ava and he marveled that Marlena was so threatened by a woman he hadn't spoken to in weeks. Marlena asked if John had slept with Ava, despite still being married to her. He smirked, which gave her her answer. He admitted that he "explored his options" with Ava and it didn't work out. He wanted to start over with Marlena, but she still said no. "I don't think we're very good together. Not anymore," she explained, then left. John called Trent and asked to meet him at the Brady Pub to discuss their "issues."
Friday
At the station, Hope listened in as Abe tried to get Stefano put behind bars. The frustrated commish noted that Stefano had paid off the right people. Bo joined them and they wondered why John didn't press charges against his brother. After, Abe went on a mini-tirade about how he's spent most of his career trying to bring the Phoenix to justice. Bo, noting his pal's edge, asked if anything else was wrong. Abe admitted that things were tough at home and with Theo, just as Lexie walked in. Hope excused herself and took Bo with her to leave Abe and Lexie alone. Lexie asked Abe what was going on. He admitted that he was frustrated and suggested they take a vacation. Lexie was reluctant to do that because she didn't want to switch up Theo's schedule. Her cell phone rang. It was the hospital, telling her that she missed a meeting. Lexie realized that she had been making mistakes lately. Abe tried to give her a pep talk. Lexie then got called in to appear before the hospital review board. Abe offered to call his pals on the board, but Lexie assured him she could handle it.
Bo and Hope investigated Trent. Hope found the name of his wife: Misty Circle. Bo thought the name sounded familiar. He pulled up a Web site that showed that Misty had starred in the porn flick Locker Room Lolita. Hope asked Bo how he knew about the movie. Bo replied that they were once related —Nicole was Misty Circle.
Outside the Pub, Trent tried again to call Melanie, but she didn't pick up. Nicole spied her hubby and asked what he was still doing there. He told her he was meeting John, then asked her to reconsider giving him money to pay off his debt. Nicole looked inside the Pub and spied Marlena. She advised Trent to try and get into one of Doc Evans's psychological studies. Trent approached Marlena's table and tried to engage her in conversation, but she cut him off, saying she wasn't looking for company. He asked why she was being frosty. She questioned him about Max. He noted that all parents had issues with their kids. From outside, John watched Trent talk to Marlena. Nicole approached John and reminded him what a creep Trent was. She added that he was more dangerous than Stefano. "Well then, he has to be stopped," John said, then walked into the pub, grabbed Trent and punched him. The dean fell and John kicked him, imploring him to get up. After, John had some sort of seizure. A banged-up Trent got up and threatened to call the cops. Marlena asked John to explain what was happening to him, but John just told her that he had made it clear he didn't want Marlena associating with Trent. Marlena accused John of being just like Stefano, but he insisted he wasn't. She said that this showed her that the John she knew is really gone. John left money for damages and walked out. Marlena issued a threat to Trent on her way out. Nicole watched the goings-on from outside, then got suddenly sick to her stomach and ran off. "Damn Caroline and her chowder," she exclaimed. John headed to the shooting range and fired off some rounds.
Anna and Tony returned to the mansion after an ad pitch. They bickered over Anna's presentation. They walked into the living room to see Stefano there. He told them he had a date —enter Kate. Stefano asked Anna and Tony to leave, but Tony said no because he didn't want to leave Kate alone with his father. He spoke to Stefano privately and asked what his intentions were toward Kate. Stefano laughed at him. Anna whispered with Kate about Stefano. Kate began to cough, but brushed it off. Anna grabbed her husband and left Stefano and Kate to their date, but then the duo donned aprons to serve Kate and Stefano and interrupt their time together. Kate remarked that she was looking forward to having Anna wait on her hand and foot. After dinner, Anna offered dessert, but Stefano told Tony and Anna to scoot because he had business to discuss with Kate. They eavesdropped at the door. Stefano proposed to Kate that they get married. She was surprised and asked why now. He said they would make a perfect pair. What about Marlena? she asked. He said he had other plans for Doc Evans. She told him she needed time before making a decision.
