Just when I thought I'd seen everything, the initial fallout from the explosion blew me away. Your son just gets out of jail as a result of all the lies and cover up attempts (we all know that Michael would have been able to plead self defense or defense of his mother and sister and never had to go to prison) and the first thing you do is lie to the mother of your daughter that was injured in the explosion and expect Michael to once again cover something up.
As someone put it in another thread, Sonny needs a time out on the island for awhile because he just keeps getting worse. When you think he has hit bottom, Sonny just goes deeper. Nothing is ever Sonny's fault, Dante is to blame for getting himself shot and Johnny is to blame for the car explosion. Sonny would never make it as a real mob boss, his hair trigger temper and stupid plans would have gotten him killed a long time ago. He and Claudia were so alike in the fact that they never thought a plan out, they just reacted.
I truly thought Michael was going to call his father out on the lies after Alexis left and I was totally deflated by his reaction. You can bet that Michael will use this situation to get his father to let him into the family business.
I liked it that Claire didn't believe him, even though sappy Olivia did, but we all know that Sonny will never pay. Hopefully, the various mothers of his children and even Jason will find out the truth and he'll be completey banned from seeing Kristina and Morgan. Maybe when Brenda comes to town to save him, she can take him away for awhile and give everyone a rest. Sonny needs to take a page out of Jason's book about loving and protecting his children.

And THIS, my friends, is why GH has lost me. Poor, uninspired writing. I will watch the boards for signs of life....but I am not holding any hope..
This is why I have a hard time with the character of Sonny. He can never take responsibility for his own actions....and he always managed to put the blame off on anyone and everyone except for where it really belongs: with him. It's so incredibly amazing to me how all the women in his life bought his lies hook, line and sinker.Ok, ask yourself this Alexis....You plan this "so-called" family intervention for Kristina...she doesn't show, and as soon as Sonny finds out she is with Johnny, he rushes off to find her...he manages to show up right as the car explodes, and did anyone else notice how Sonny didn't even go to the hospital to check on Kristina? You would think Alexis would have found this a little strange. I'm so done with Sonny and his wild antics. It really is time for him to start paying for his bad behavior.
And now the hypocrisy extends to Sonny's attempt to be a good father. He was just about to kill a man that his daughter "cared" about and in the process almost killed her and he is laying down "pumishment" for the way she acts around him. Like forcing her to have dinner with him every Tuesday is going to miraculously make her love and respect him. More likely she'll end up being around when Sonny makes more of his stupid plans or gives orders and then she'll be expected to lie for him just like Michael.I can't believe that Kiristia caved as she did as he systematically took away her "privileges'. She should have thumbed her nose at him and walked out. You don't threaten and force your children to love and respect you. Whether he is punished or not, I hope Sonny's part in the bombing will come out and Kristina will be vindicated.Mister Wonderful forgets how he treated his own father up until a very short time ago. Mike is a gambler and deserted his family, but Sonny is an abuser, a crime boss and a murderer. Kristina is an adult as Sonny was when he met his father again and has a right to her opinion and her likes and dislikes. Maybe she should declaire her independence, get a job and tell her father to take a hike or tell her currently spineless mother what's going on. After all, she will be 18 iin the very near future. As for Alexis, in the past she would have told Sonny to butt out, but right how she is downright wimpy.
Ok folks once again I am in the minority here because I just LOVE Sonny... Don't get me wrong he is as trigger happy as they come and I swear I sit here shaking my head some days cause I can just see where things are taking a wrong turn but even still I love him... I expected Michael, Alexis and Olivia to all react like they did... I kind of thought the DA was gonna buy it too but whether she wants to or not she is gonna fall for his crap too ... But I must say I was pretty impressed when he layed down the law to Kristina cause although some of her feelings are valid (and I say some cause I think she is transferring a lot of Keifer anger to Sonny as well) but she is a liar and has been disrespectful as hell not just to Sonny (that's expected) but to Alexis and Sam too... So I had to laugh out loud when he layed down the law for her out of control [censored] BTW - I do think Sonny needs a time out though but I want everyone to get it together... Some kind of mob thing needs to happen (either from a bullet or an explosion) Sonny needs to end up in a small coma... Nothing too long maybe a week or two just long enough for everyone to stop blaming him for everything (cause yall know if they could they would have blamed him for the blizzard last winter) and of course long enough for him to get out of his bubble and make a conscious effort to really stop hurting people... I know maybe Nov sweeps can lead up to it and his wake up call can be a Thanksgiving Special kind of like Billy Abbots New Years Eve dream... IDK we can hope!
I agree about Sonny laying down the law to Kristina. A little overdue but I liked it.
Sonny has no place or right to 'lay down the law' with Krissy. Alexis has custody, and Krissy lives with her. That would be like my father calling me and telling me I am grounded....Since I have GH on DVR, I decided to catch a few of these scenes....something I truly do regret. I was just embarrassed for the actors who had to spew that shyt and keep a straight face.Bob Guza and team has systematically destroyed the show by not making anyone accountable for their actions. Sonny, Jason, Carly, Alexis, Ric (I know he's gone)...all of them are just laughable. I am the first to give way to literary & cinematic license, and to suspend reality for the sake of the show, but this is just craziness.
I can't stand Sonny. But I will admit, I can't wait for him to reunite with Brenda. That seems to be the only time I kinda like him.But on to the subject. Sonny is a horrible father. Kristina should have laughed in his face when he "laid down the law". Instead she cowtowed. Maybe she is thinking up another scheme against him. The thing I love about Kristina and even Dante is that Sonny didn't really raise them and they give him the blues. They don't see him through rose colored glasses like Carly's kids do so that give them the liberties to blast Sonny and talk smack to him and tell him what is on their minds. And it leaves him twisting in the wind.
Once again, I'm in the position of defending a character I dislike. Sonny does have the right to discipline Kristina. He has partial custody of her. He & Alexis reworked their agreement when all this Keifer stuff went down. I think him speaking up has been a long time coming. Her main issue with Sonny deep down has nothing to do with his business or whether or not he screams at his girlfriend/wife of the moment. It's about him not spending time with her all these years & always doing things with the boys. The reasons she caved to his rules are a.) he threatened to cancel her credit cards & b.) she finally gets Sonny all to herself. He's not allowed to see Michael or Morgan & he has no woman in his life to distract him. Once she's really spending time with him, she'll become daddy's little princess & it won't even matter to her that he was behind the explosion. She'll see it as a sign of how much he loves her. It's easy for everyone to say Sonny's not a good father. There is no school on how to be a father. You learn as you go based on your childhood & your parents. Sonny never had a decent, respectable father or father figure to look at as a model for how to be a father. All his life, he was surrounded by terrible father figures. It didn't improve when he came to Port Charles either. Edward is a lousy father or Tracy wouldn't have been the bitchy thing she's been (probably wouldn't have been as fun to watch either!), Alan wasn't a good father either. Then there's Luke, who only had kids because Laura wanted them. I think Sonny's done a terrific job for someone who had nothing as a frame of reference. The proof is in who Michael is inside & who Jason is inside. They both have a strong moral core. No, they're not perfect, but no one is.
Well said! And welcome back
At lease Sonny is consistent. Telling Dante to put aside his principles and do "anything he can" to keep Michael out of jail. Way to go Sonny. Try working through this with your son. Take him to the island. Give him some alone time with you, anything. But no, just order your other son to break every law he can so that Michael doesn't go back to jail. Michael has been a hot head with rage issues since the shooting, but nobody seems worried about it. Maybe he'll just grow out of it.

I too was disappointed. I just knew Alexis was going to blast Sonny and I just knew Olivia would let him have it too. I qwas wrong. They totally believed him which I found made them look pretty stupid. But I was most surprised by Michael's reaction. I thought he would go off on Sonny for almost getting Kristina killed, and then for lying about it. I thought he would tell his dad that look at him as a cautionary tale of what keeping secrets and having your kids help keep those secrets could do. No such luck. Everyone talks about Annie on AMC, Sonny is just as bad if not worse.
