At The Haunted Star, Lulu vehemently scolded Luke about loving booze more than people — but she was dreaming. Dante roused her, and she said it was weird, because she doesn't really blame her dad — or think he has a drinking problem. She's angry at God for making bad stuff happen to her family. In reality, Luke was on the Star, brandishing a lighter as Lucky walked in. Luke suggested a "good viking funeral" is in order. Lucky cited everyone who would be hurt if he burned the Star. Lucky recalled Luke burning down the blues club, and pointed out that didn't work out so well. And burning the Star won't bring Jake back. Lucky reminded Luke of his advice to him, "You can't outrun your past." Later, Lulu arrived, noted the gasoline smell, and started cleaning up. "Some messes can't be cleaned up, sweetheart," he whined. Still later, Johnny arrived and asked to buy back into the Star, suggesting they are two of a kind, "way past redemption." But Luke bristled and rejected him.

At Kelly's, Carly urged Sam to have a baby with Jason, because it will give him something to hope for. She assured Sam there are procedures that can help her, but Sam declined. Carly pointed out that "life is random," so all you can do is love your kids — and Jason deserves that chance. Sam said Dr. Lee gave her only a 50/50 chance of getting pregnant. Carly offered to be her surrogate! Sam declined, citing Carly's own health concerns, but Carly was willing to risk her life for him. She suggested that years from now, Sam may regret not trying. Carly said Sam should make this decision for Jason. After Carly left, Kristina told Sam how uneasy she was about being waitlisted for college. Sam told her to go with her gut.

Michael complained to Jason about Abby getting arrested. Jason called in Diane. Michael was determined to go to PCPD and make a scene, but Jason pointed out that Ronnie arrested her to bait Michael. And he will then use Michael to get to Jason — because he'll confess to executing Brandon in order to protect Michael. Lucky arrived, and Michael left. Lucky wanted to talk about Jake. He feels responsible: Jake was conceived because of Lucky's addiction and died because of his father's. Lucky felt like a coward for enabling Luke. "I know Jake loved you," Jason said. Lucky insisted Jake might still be alive if Lucky had confronted his father. Back at the loft, Michael told Dante about Ronnie trying to entrap him, and asked his brother to help with Abby. Dante warned him to steer clear of PCPD. Michael visited Josslyn, where Carly reminded him not to let Ronnie get to him. And suggested he avoid Abby. Dante went to the penthouse to tell Jason that a high-priced lawyer took Brandon's case, and they both wondered who's bankrolling her. Lucky visited Lulu, and they swapped notes about Luke.

Patrick ran into Lisa at Kelly's — and accused her of following him. Meanwhile, Robin approached Johnny, who didn't want to hear Robin's side. Johnny later met Lisa, and urged her to "let go and move on." She worried about Patrick causing problems for her at work. She wanted to go back to the hospital, which disappointed Johnny, who was planning to see a movie with her. Then Lisa approached Kristina to ask about her college woes. Patrick and Robin enjoyed Chinese, and he told her he ran into Lisa, and suspects she's up to something. Robin wondered if he's overreacting — and then he threatened "to bury her myself." They opened their fortune cookies — adding the funny "in bed" suffix. He told her he got tickets for Saturday night's concert at the Roadhouse.

At Wyndemere, Nikolas wanted to "talk to" Brook Lynn. "I had the best time with you," he said. "But everything changed when Jake died." He needs to be available for his family. "I understand," she said. He praised her for saving him from a dark place after Elizabeth. She called him "a great man" who taught her confidence. She revealed that she's going on tour with a band. "Don't lose my number," she sobbed.

Carly cautioned Michael to steer clear of Abby while she's investigated, but he pointed out she wouldn't stand by if Sonny or Jason was in trouble. Jax arrived, and Michael left. "He's not your little boy anymore," Jax told her. He asked about Franco, and expressed trepidation about Shawn. Carly snarkily wondered why Jax isn't with Brenda. She told him about Lucian. Later, Jax shared the news with Alexis — who was instantly suspicious. Jax told her he's going to check in with Brenda. Johnny ran into Michael and offered Angela Dwyer's legal services — as well as the cooperation of any of his other employees. Still later, Carly visited Abby and told her to stay away from her son. Michael arrived, and accused Carly of bullying Abby. "I asked you to stay out of it," he said, and showed her the door. However, Carly vowed not to butt out. Abby admitted Carly has a point, but Michael wouldn't hear it. He said Ronnie is using her to get to Michael and then to Jason — just like when Franco sent Carter after Michael. Michael worried about reverting to a lonely, isolated guy.

Dante went to the penthouse and told Spinelli that he doesn't believe Jason killed Brandon, but the evidence points to him. Diane entered and protested Jason's innocence. Dante asked who hired Angela Dwyer. Diane pointed out that Angela is expensive and unscrupulous, with questionable clients — including the Zaccharas. After Dante left, Diane wanted to talk about their book, but Spinelli refused to share some case files.

Patrick and Robin ran into Lisa and Johnny again. Johnny faced them down, and Lisa insisted she isn't a stalker. At Kelly's Brenda found Kristina stressing over college, and introduced her to Lucian. Krissy was incredulous, so Brenda explained about Suzanne: "It's very complicated." Brenda rambled on about Sonny bonding with Lucian, and how she and Sonny want to limit Lucian's contact with others for now. They left, and then Lisa found Kristina weeping over her father bonding with the "stranger kid." Lisa suggested an "herbal remedy" to help her deal with stress. She left, and Ethan entered. He wanted to talk about his troubled father. Kristina pointed out that he doesn't have "messy" family history to get in the way with Luke. She told him about his new stepbrother — and how she's not pleased that "stranger kid" got to "sail right into my father's life." Ethan advised her not to shut Sonny out. Plus, he told her to take an objective look at Yale. She decided to follow any advice he offers. At Sonny's place, Diane was confused when Brenda mentioned "Lucian." When told, Diane licked her chops in anticipation of the billable hours in paperwork pending. Jax arrived, and took the opportunity to ask Diane about Michael's legal prospects. Then Jax congratulated Brenda. "I finally have my own family," she smiled. At home, Patrick stewed over Lisa being backed by Johnny — who sees her as misunderstood. Robin didn't think Johnny would condone what Lisa has done — if he knew. At G.H., Lisa filled an herbal-supplement bottle with prescription drugs. Johnny saw her on her way back to Kelly's, and she assured him she's not up to any mischief. Then Dante found Johnny, and noted that Angela representing Brandon and Johnny is suspicious. When Lisa arrived at Kelly's, she found Krissy smiling with Ethan.

In Josslyn's room, Alexis told Carly that Jax went to Brenda. Carly was disappointed, but expected it. Meanwhile, a beaming Brenda sang Lucian's praises to Jax. Then she gravely added that she wants to keep him safe from the "crazy world that I married into."

Olivia brought Dante lunch, but he was worried about Johnny setting up Michael to get leverage on Sonny. She urged him to tell his father. He worried about upsetting the Corinthos/Zacchara truce, but she insisted he think like a son. Michael went to Johnny to ask permission to poke around at Vaughn's, but Johnny refused, noting that would make Michael look guilty. Michael wondering why Johnny is trying to help him after Michael killed Claudia. "I don't blame you," Johnny said, adding that neither would Claudia. Later, Steve answered Olivia's summons to Kelly's. She told him burying himself in work won't help deal with his nephew's death, so she invited him to a picnic on Saturday. He accepted.

Later, Olivia ran into Johnny, who was nostalgic about how they used to be so honest with each other. She refused to believe he'd ever purposely hurt Michael.

Elizabeth was reading Aiden's paternity-test results when Nikolas arrived. She urged him to go see Lucky, who's suffering. Nik said he already did, and they acted like brothers once again — which cheered Liz. Then he mentioned that Lucky feared relapsing. Liz suggested maybe Lucky needs something to hope for. Nik vowed to help his brother through this crisis. Lulu and Maxie shared coffee at Kelly's. Lulu was preoccupied by Luke and Lucky and Elizabeth, and she wants to find a middle ground. Maxie warned her not to push Lucky and Liz back together, because Jake's death won't solve their previous problems, and they'll just fall into old patterns and be miserable. Maxie went to G.H. and asked Matt if she was right to talk about Lucky and Liz. She recounted all the bad stuff she did with Lucky, including enabling his addiction and faking a pregnancy. Matt was flabbergasted, yet assured her she has nothing to feel guilty about. She lamented wishing bad things on Liz in the past. At the Hub, Elizabeth wanted to get back to work, but Steve worried about her concentration and patient care. She was indignant at the suggestion of harming patients, and besides, she needs to support her family. When he noted she's still too raw, she got weepy. He suggested she go to California.

Sonny cautioned Max to keep a low-profile while guarding Brenda and Lucian. Diane arrived, and Sonny asked her to make sure Brenda's legal rights to Lucian are iron-clad. Diane asked if a DNA test was done; it wasn't. Sonny worried about the conniving Susan, who said the adoptive parents are dead. Diane was skeptical that Sonny wants another child, but he stonewalled, and a shouting match ensued. Diane threatened to quit and write full-time. Then she insisted Max drive her home. Dante arrived, and Sonny told him Brenda didn't lose the baby. Sonny admitted he doesn't want anymore kids, but he married Brenda, so he has to deal. Dante told his dad about Michael, and Sonny demanded that Dante protect his brother. Dante mentioned that Johnny may be trying to exploit the situation by setting up Michael. Sonny vowed to "shut him down." Dante returned home, where Lulu unloaded about her family, and he told her about tipping off Sonny. Lulu didn't believe Johnny would hurt Michael, but Dante was skeptical. Sonny summoned Michael, who swore he didn't kill Brandon. Sonny said being innocent is no defense, and cautioned him about Johnny. When Michael said Johnny was "helpful," Sonny suggested he's setting Michael up. Michael detailed how Johnny gave Abby a salary advance with no deadline to pay it back. Sonny warned him to shut Johnny down the next time he reaches out. When Michael returned home, he scolded Dante for blabbing about Brandon. Dante echoed that Michael shouldn't investigate on his own. Later, Sonny confronted Johnny, warning him there's no way he will be allowed to frame Michael.

Maxie brought flowers to Elizabeth's place. Inside, she spotted the envelope from the DNA lab and read the results.

Elizabeth was reluctant to run away to California, saying she has to make things right with Lucky. Steve told her not to make excuses for Lucky, who isn't supporting her. But she thinks Lucky blames her. Lucky found Maxie at Liz's place. Maxie said she was just bringing flowers — not mentioning the paternity results that show he is Aiden's father. Lucky said Liz blames him for Jake's death. But he feels responsible because he's an addict, and enabled his father. "Guilt is such a waste of an emotion," she said, urging him to forgive himself. Then Nikolas arrived, and she left. Lucky asked about Liz, and said he's afraid she blames him. Later, Lucky was at home playing his guitar when Steve stopped by to scold him for abandoning Liz. "You need to support each other," Steve railed. Lucky said he doesn't blame Liz; he feels partly responsible for Luke's behavior. He appreciated Liz's help getting clean, and regretted not helping his father. Steve said Lucky needs to get over himself, because, "She needs her hero back." But Lucky responded, "I can't be anybody's hero." Steve told him to try. Later, Maxie returned when Liz was looking for the DNA results. Maxie confessed she took it — but only to keep Lucky from seeing it. Maxie returned the paperwork and suggested Lucky deserves to know Aiden is his son.

At the loft, Dante told Michael that Johnny is playing him. Michael didn't want to trust the system again. Dante accused him of just wanting to join a crew and prove to Sonny that he can be a good criminal. Dante said Michael should get away from the criminal life that Sonny cannot escape. Elsewhere, Sonny accused Johnny of framing Michael, but Johnny countered that he's trying to save Michael "from you." Sonny called that a violation of the truce. Johnny denied it, and expressed empathy to Michael as a fellow mobster's son. Sonny told him to "stop hiding behind my children." Later, Michael confronted Johnny and accused him of orchestrating Brandon's murder. "Did you set me up?" Michael demanded. Johnny swore on Claudia grave that he didn't. He claimed he knows Michael idolized his father and wants to take over, but Sonny won't let him. Michael realized that Johnny sees recruiting him as a way to stick it to Sonny, and asked if he's offering a job? The violence takes its toll, Johnny warned, advising him to "ride this out" with Abby. Johnny won't offer Michael a job, but won't turn him away if he asks for one. At the penthouse, Sam told Jason that Carly wants to be their surrogate. Sam called it generous, but self-serving. Sam explained that she's letting him grieve for Jake in his own way. Later, Jason told Sonny that Johnny is recruiting Michael. Sonny hated the idea. Jason summoned Michael, and was shocked that he had talked to Johnny. Jason told him to turn Johnny down. Michael said he'd rather work with Jason and his dad, but that's not allowed. Jason pointed out that he gave up Jake to avoid making the same mistakes with him that he made with Michael. Elsewhere, Sonny ordered Dante to convince Michael not to join the Zaccharas. Dante noted Michael doesn't listen to him, either.

Tracy found Luke sulking at The Haunted Star. She told him that work is an excellent way to process guilt, but Luke said he grieves differently. She told him he can't hide forever. She suggested getting something to eat. He wanted to drive, but she wouldn't let him. She admitted she's often standing next to him with a martini, but suggested he look at alcohol in a different way. Tracy left in tears, and went to Lucky, who wasn't interested in talking to his dad, no matter how upset she is. In fact, he was glad Luke was bottoming out. Later, Steve visited Luke at the Star to demand Luke stop wallowing in guilt expecting his kids to take care of him. Lucky is so paralyzed with guilt he cannot help Liz, who desperately needs him.

Maxie asked Elizabeth when she was going to tell Nikolas and Lucky the truth about Aiden's paternity. Liz said the previous DNA test was probably tainted by Helena, but she was reluctant to break Nikolas' heart with no assurance that Lucky's mood will be lightened. "Either you tell them, or I will," Maxie warned. Liz resolved to tell the guys. Lucky told Tracy there's no way he can change his father's mind, but Tracy wouldn't accept that. He admitted he cannot look at Luke without flashing back to that night, but only Luke can change Luke. At The Haunted Star, Steve said Liz needs to hear Lucky say he doesn't blame her, so Luke better pull it together. Later, Maxie visited Lucky to tell him Liz blames herself — and he shouldn't blame himself for Luke's illness. Maxie tried to hint that there might be other people to live for, but Lucky declared, "No one can replace my son." She explained that Spinelli pulled out of the dark, and maybe someone can do that for him. When Nik arrived, Maxie fled. Sam visited Liz to express her sympathies, and apologize for being jealous that Liz gave Jason a child. Sam said Jason doesn't blame Elizabeth for what happened. Liz gave Sam Jake's motorcycle to pass along to Jason. Tracy found Luke still boozing it up at The Star. She noted that everyone is convinced Luke is on a road to ruin. Lucky lamented to Nik that Luke won't acknowledge his drinking problem — but he doesn't hate his dad. Lucky was sure if he had confronted his dad, Luke wouldn't have gotten behind the wheel. Nikolas said Lucky is stronger than he thinks. Liz appeared, just as Lucky thanked Nik for believing in him.

Suzanne joined Brenda in playing with Lucian. After grandma left, Sonny voiced his skepticism about Lucian, noting, "paperwork can be forged." He wanted Brenda to be sure before investing in the child. He worried about a repeat of Michael, but Brenda blamed Carly for any damage done, because she has "a screw loose." Sonny admitted he couldn't guarantee his family's total safety. He went to visit Suzanne, who said Sonny has more of a conscience than Theo had, so she felt safer leaving Theo with Brenda. Sonny didn't believe a word. She said if Brenda can't handle a baby, she can always take Lucian and disappear! Meanwhile, Michael stopped by Sonny's place to see his dad, but Brenda asked him to stay, and asked if he thinks Lucian will be happy with Sonny as a father. Michael said he loves Sonny, but he's glad Morgan and Joss are growing up with Jax, because the business is no place for a child.

Jason warned Michael that joining the mob "takes your heart, and it takes your soul," and wondered why he wants that. Michael asked if Jason regrets joining the business. Jason said Sonny gave him a sense of purpose, but had he known the pain that lay ahead, he wouldn't have taken the job. "One way or another, you are going to pay," Jason noted. But Michael insisted joining the mob would prove he's independent — and a man of action, like Jason. Jason recalled that after his accident he wanted to be independent from the Quartermaines, but did it the wrong way — by turning his back on his family. Alan died before he could make it right, and Jason can't forgive himself. He promised to never turn his back on Michael — who said he has to make this choice alone. Later, Sam came home and gave him the motorcycle, and Jason got misty. "A good father knows when to let go," he pronounced, noting he has to let Michael make his own decisions now, but he doesn't believe Michael will follow his advice. He also lamented that he didn't do enough to give Michael a better life — but he knows he can't control everything. Jason wished he had understood that fact "when Jake was still here."
