General Hospital Recaps

GH Week of April 14, 2008

Monday

Jason told Elizabeth about how he agreed to play daddy to Michael and protect him — "but I can't," he moaned. "I shouldn't be anywhere near a child." Liz offered to run away with him, but he refused. "I refuse to be the reason that any of you would die." Liz sobbed, realizing he was right, but wanted to continue meeting at the safe house. "You know I love you," he said, before kissing her and leaving.

At GH, Carly demanded that an apologetic Claudia leave Michael's room. As Jax arrived, Claudia insisted Johnny would never target a child, but he was suspicious. After Claudia left Carly melted into Jax's arms and maintained that Michael is getting better. She revealed she banished Sonny for protecting Kate instead of his son, and she felt guilty for not listening to Jax's advice to keep Sonny away from the kids. Meanwhile, Sonny had gone back to the warehouse, loaded his gun and pointed it at himself as he flashed back to his last moments with Michael. But before he could pull the trigger Robin interrupted. He claimed Carly is right: "I am a selfish bastard who got his son shot." Sonny lamented that his loved ones always pay for his crimes. "I don't deserve to be a father," he moaned. Robin said Michael needs his father, and reminded him that Carly always uses her children to manipulate the men in her life, from Tony and A.J. to him and Jason. "I have failed my son in every way that matters," he countered. Robin pointed out that Carly knew whom she was getting involved with — and Sonny knows what it's like to grow up without a father. "No one has a right to push a father out of their child's life," said the hypocrite...er, Robin. She asked what Michael would want? Sonny was sure the boy would want his father with him. "Then that's what you should do," she pronounced.

At Sonny's home, Max and Diane hurried dressed and assured a horrified (and traumatized) Alexis they were just seeking comfort with each other. "You're sleeping with a flunky!" Alexis squealed. Diane sang Max's praises, mentioning he's "remarkably limber." Alexis suggested Max loves only Carly (which he denied). Max pointed out that Alexis married Ric, and Diane noted Alexis falls apart around Jerry. Alexis fled. Max thanked Diane for defending him, and they parted with a kiss.

Johnny played a mournful Rachmaninoff piece at Crimson Point until Lulu strolled in, confident that no one would blame him for Michael's shooting because she is his alibi. Johnny clearly didn't want her around — or her alibi. Later, Claudia found Johnny still in the music room — a place where he sought refuge as a child — and told him she visited Michael. Oh, and Carly saw her, and Jax is suspicious. Johnny made her vow not to tell anyone she hired the shooter. And he also promised it's over with Lulu — but she spotted Lulu's bracelet on the floor. As for Lulu, she arrived at Kelly's, where Logan surprised her with a romantic dinner set-up.

At GH, Carly told Jax that Michael finds Jason's voice soothing, so Jax let the hit man read the boy a book about Spain. Jax visited Liz at home and asked about the boy's chances. Carly and Jason reminisced about taking Michael to Florida. Then Sonny visited, which didn't sit well with Carly. "He's my son, and I'm never going to let you hurt him again," she hissed.

Tuesday

Lulu was stunned by Logan's dinner set-up at Kelly's. "It feels like a date," she observed. He wanted to thank her for sitting by his bedside. She confessed she felt guilty about hurting a friend. "I like you," she admitted, but she's not attracted to him. He left in disgust. Meanwhile, at Crimson Point, Johnny told Claudia that Lulu is his alibi. He admitted he's afraid of hurting Lulu. Claudia warned him not to fall in love or, "You might as well eat your gun." She allowed that true love is possible, but only for other people. "We come to the table already warped," she noted, and adding love will send him to the loony bin, right next to their father. She recounted how she once wanted to be like her mother. Dominica Zacchara was a powerful woman until Anthony cast her aside, and she became a brittle, spiritless, "ruined" woman. Claudia vowed to only get involved with someone she can trust absolutely — and such a man does not exist. She reminded her brother that she is the only woman he can trust.

Elizabeth gave Jax the grim news that Michael's coma "is permanent." He realized Carly is in denial. Liz suggested maybe that's a good thing for now. At GH, Carly ordered Sonny to stay away from Michael, but a heartbroken Sonny vowed to stick around. She scoffed at his remorse. Sonny said Michael would want him there, and Jason agreed: "Just be parents." Carly urged Sonny to tell Michael to fight because he'll listen. She stormed off to the nurses' station, where she filled in Jax — who sided with Jason. She expressed disappointment that Sonny didn't do everything possible to protect Michael. Alone with Michael, Sonny admitted he let the boy down. "Did you have time to be afraid?" he wondered. Did he wonder why Daddy didn't protect him? Sonny vowed to carry his guilt forever, but Michael is a better person. "Wake up! Come back to us," he pleaded. "Choose to live. Your Mommy and Daddy need you so much." Outside, Carly felt guilty for choosing to be with mobster Sonny, but Jax bolstered her. They returned to the room, where Sonny rose to leave, but Carly told him he can return. Jax took a turn at Michael's bedside, telling the kid he "changed the course of my life" by welcoming Jax into his family. "I've loved being your stepfather," he said. Carly wondered, "Why does it sound like you're saying goodbye to him?" She insisted she knew Michael is coming back, and he offered his support.

Elsewhere, Robin brought Patrick cookies and said listening to Sonny's regret had opened her eyes to how a father feels, and when Carly barred him from Michael's bedside Robin realized she was doing the same to Patrick. She asked if his attitude has changed. He's said he's been watching fathers and sons, and feeling scared. But he cannot deny the baby is coming. "I'm fat," Robin said, between mouthfuls of cookie. "You're pregnant," he countered. "You're more beautiful than ever." They kissed, and then made love. Afterward, he told her, "I love you just as much as ever."

Claudia ran into Jason on the docks, and told him, "People in our line of work should not procreate." She figured he would agree. Sonny returned home, where Kate visited him. "I don't blame you, and I don't regret saving your life," he told her. He said it's easy to tap into despair, but he won't "indulge" himself, because that would be abandoning Michael, and he won't let that happen ever again.

Wednesday

Jax watched as Carly gave Michael a pep talk. She insisted on not leaving her son's side — not even to eat or shower (Ew!). Carly said Patrick doesn't know Michael's inner strength. Outside the room, Jax told Alexis he wants Carly to tell Morgan the truth. Alexis noted, "The worst thing a mother can feel is helpless." Meanwhile, Carly "showed" Michael photos and toys. Epiphany came in to change his bandages, so Jax took the opportunity to tell Carly that "Morgan needs his mother." She replied, "I don't know what to tell him." Jax suggested the truth.

Nadine awakened at Wyndemere with her ankle taped — and Nikolas admiring her beauty. He admitted he dreamed about her, and — oops, it was all just Nadine's dream. When she really woke up, the real Nik wondered why she insisted on sleeping on the couch. He invited her to stay for breakfast, but she had to work. She was, however, looking forward to gambling at the reopening of The Haunted Star that night. Speaking of the Star, Lulu visited Luke as he was prepping for the gala. She planned to attend, and Luke accused her of looking for Johnny. She told her father that Johnny didn't put out the contract on Sonny. Tracy visited and warned Luke to be careful with his health. Then Johnny arrived and insisted he had nothing to do with the shooting. Tracy asked Johnny to stay away from Lulu. When Elizabeth arrived for work, an unshaven Lucky stopped by and invited Liz to go to the Star gala with him — as a medical professional to watch over Luke. She agreed. When Nadine arrived for work, she begged Leyla to teach her how to gamble. Meanwhile, Lulu asked Nik to escort her to the Star so it doesn't look like she went just to see Johnny.

At Crimson Point, Johnny resolved to tell Sonny the Zaccharas had no role in Michael's shooting. Ric visited Anthony in the hospital. Anthony demanded Ric get him released — and when he does, "You can name your price" as reward. Ric noted he has the paperwork filed. A grief-stricken Jason returned to his penthouse and hugged a box of photos. Then he asked Spinelli for help finding the shooter, because he was wracked with guilt. Then Claudia (of all people) arrived, saying, "We need to talk about who shot Michael." She insisted Johnny had nothing to do with it. Jason assured her that Sonny won't act without proof — but once they have it, nothing on Earth will stop them from taking revenge. On the docks, Ian assured Jerry that he left no traces that would connect him to the shooting.

Later, Luke made a speech to reopen The Haunted Star — featuring an open bar!!! Luke made small talk with Alexis before a tuxedo-clad Jerry rolled up on her and suavely offered to demonstrate a few gambling tricks. She tried to...um, "discourage" him by eating the olives out of his martini. She bet $5 on roulette. Jerry was distressed to spot Ian. Leyla and Nadine arrived and went for roulette. Ric suggested red, and it hit! Nadine went berserk just as a clean-cut Nik walked in. Lucky thanked Liz for letting him see the boys. Sam arrived, dressed to the nines, but was stunned to see Lucky with Sam. Lucky explained that he brought Liz to function as a nurse, and told Sam, "I want to be with you." Elsewhere, Ric told Liz that Marianna split town. On the docks, Johnny found Lulu, who had been stood up by Nikolas. Johnny offered to ferry her to Spoon Island. Then Logan appeared. Claudia arrived on the Star in black, and joined Jerry at roulette. He passed on Ian's warning that if he goes down, he'll take everyone with him. Back at the penthouse, Spinelli found security tape showing a car with medical plates near the waterfront. Jason thought that was weird for a doctor.

Thursday

Claudia sniped at Jerry over sniper Ian being at the Haunted Star gala. On the docks, Lulu told Johnny she's not going anywhere with him, so Logan gallantly offered to walk her to the Star. Aboard the Star, Sonny arrived (with bodyguards) as everyone stared. "I'm just here to gamble," he said — leaving unsaid anything about his comatose son. At least Ric asked about Michael. Then Sonny told the blackjack dealer he wanted to "double up." Shouldn't a casino owner know the proper play is to "double down"? When Johnny arrived, Luke warned him: no shoot-outs. When Lulu arrived she scolded Nik for not escorting her; he said she should check her cell messages. As soon as pregnant Robin arrived she wanted to sit down. Kate arrived with Maxie. Johnny approached Sonny and his offered sympathies — and assured him the Zaccharas are innocent. Sonny promised that whoever shot Michael will pay. Claudia asked Luke to put in a good word with Sonny. Johnny approached Lulu, but Maxie chased him away. Kate asked Sonny to leave with her. He took her outside and told her Carly doesn't want him around and there's nothing he can do for Michael, so he might as well gamble. "Don't shut me out," Kate said. He pointed out he can't bring Michael back, and asked her not to press him for an explanation. When Diane arrived she headed for Max, but was headed off by Alexis. Then Max invited her to play. So Jerry invited Alexis for a moonlight walk. Maxie flirted with Johnny, who gave her some chips to play with — which left Lulu aghast. She invited Johnny outside, and Claudia followed. Sam wondered why Lucky didn't warn her he was bringing Elizabeth. Robin won at roulette with a wager on 21, and called it a night. Patrick carried Robin home and talked about how he loved seeing her so happy with this pregnancy. Back at the Star, Sonny bet $10,000 on 12 (Michael's age), but lost. So he bet $30,000 on it. Then $60,000. Nik told Nadine luck is no substitution for skill, but she hit on 13 again. The silly croupier paid her with different colored-chips — which means she got somebody else's. Max and Diane made out, and when he got on the floor to search for her dropped earring she saw Jerry and Alexis on their knees, kissing under the roulette table. Outside, Lulu and Johnny bickered over that "skank" Maxie. Then she kissed him as Claudia watched.

At GH, Carly resisted going home to see Morgan. Jax said he knows what it's like to be the little brother who gets left home alone, and encouraged her to go. She relented, and once home, swept Morgan into her arms. The boy asked where Michael was, so she told him he was hurt in an accident, but "your brother is getting stronger every day," and she wants to be there when he wakes up. Later, Jax told her what Liz said. Carly insisted Liz is wrong, and questioned if Jax was just believing the worst because Michael is "just" his stepson. She demanded that he believe Michael can survive. He said he didn't want to support her denial.

While Spinelli tried to trace the doctor's license plates in the video, Jason recounted conspiring to keep Michael away from his biological father, A.J., because they thought he was unfit. "Look where he ended up," the hit man sighed. Then he recapped learning how to care for Michael and naming the boy after Sonny. Spinelli tried to reassure Jason, who felt guilty himself, but also believed Sonny "made a terrible mistake." Spinelli learned the car was leased to Dr. Ian Devlin.

Sonny visited Michael at GH, and explained he went to the Star to make people think he's punishing himself. Actually, he's going out without guards to make himself a target, so his would-be assassin will try again. "Then, for you, I'm gonna kill him."

Friday

Alexis visited Crimson Point to quiz the Zacchara siblings about Trevor's possible involvement in Michael's shooting. She said "rumor has it" Claudia is "a woman scorned" and Johnny was kidnapped by Sonny. Claudia pointed out she was at Metro Court and Johnny was with Lulu when the kid was shot. After the PC DA left, Johnny suggested feeding the shooter to Sonny. An angry Trevor burst in to blast the sibs for casting suspicion on him. Then Ian (of all people) visited, and had to cover for Trevor's benefit. Claudia promised to call Dr. Devlin for "a private consult." Trevor accused Claudia of "doing the dirty" with her doctor, and gloated about owning the piers. Later, Claudia called Jerry and demanded he shut down Ian. Then Johnny figured out Ian was the shooter. At the prison hospital, Sonny filled in Anthony on the botched assassination bid, and asked if Anthony ordered it. He dodged the question, so Sonny pledged to be "out in public" (where more innocents can be caught in any crossfire) and challenged Anthony to try again. Later, Ric visited and announced he had arranged a competency hearing and gotten Anthony transferred to Shady Brook. Anthony was so happy he threw off his bed covers — revealing he isn't paralyzed anymore, he's been playing possum. Back in Port Charles, Spinelli dug into Ian's history. Sonny arrived and told Jason he is eschewing bodyguards in order to tempt the shooter into trying again. Suddenly, Spinelli "jackaled" some shocking financial information.

At GH, Carly promised to bake cookies when Michael awakened. She asked Jax if he could believe the child will wake up. Jax tried to support her. Jerry arrived, so he vented his anger about Sonny to his brother. At the nearby nurses' station, Nadine was glowing over spending time with Nikolas, but Nik was pressing Ian for more pills. Dr. Devlin cautioned that Nik needs surgery within a month or he will die. Nik then chatted up Nadine, who was disgusted that he was still pursuing illegal experimental drugs. Nik tried to thank her for helping him have fun last night, but she just gave him his messages, as if she were his assistant.

Kate's assistant Maxie laid down the office law to second assistant Lulu, who accused her of being jealous about Johnny. As the girls sniped, the phones went unanswered until Kate arrived. Later, Kate actually gave Maxie a story to edit, reasoning that she's part of the girls 15-25 demo (and it's not like she has any editorial staff in those fancy new digs). Maxie immediately started tangling with Lulu over Johnny again. Diane stopped by to review some contracts, so Kate offered let her keep some fashion samples. But Alexis arrived and clashed with Diane over who got to claim the shoes and jewelry.

Sonny went to the warehouse and informed the foreman that Sonny will be personally supervising coffee shipments from now on (um, since the last one went so well?). Max arrived and disputed Sonny's orders to leave him unprotected. Then Max accidentally revealed that he slept with Diane. Sonny insisted he cannot allow a romance to distract his lawyer. Then Kate arrived to scold Sonny for making himself a target.

Elsewhere, Jason demanded to know why Nikolas paid Ian $10 million. Jerry found Ian in the GH shower and threatened to shoot off his...er, something important. Meanwhile, at the prison hospital, Anthony was prepped for the trip to Shady Brook. He ordered Claudia trailed. At Crimson Point, Claudia admitted working with Devlin in the past in Milan. He was reliable, and no money changed hands here, so they shouldn't be linked to the shooting. Ric arrived to inform the kids Anthony is now a ward of the court and they are barred from seeing him before his competency hearing next week.

In Michael's room, Jax told Carly he believed the child has a chance of waking up. Then Michael opened his eyes!
