General Hospital Recaps
GH Week of April 27, 2009
Monday
Robin accidentally knocked Emma's stroller down the stairs, but luckily Patrick was there to catch it, and so Emma was fine. Patrick chastised her, then asked Mac to take Robin and the baby home. Patrick asked Dr. Lee for an explanation of the stroller incident. Kelly admitted Robin flipped out during an argument over not taking her antidepressants; she assured him it was an accident. Patrick asked for Kelly's help. After Mac put Emma to bed, Robin fretted about feeling overwhelmed, but Mac said he has faith in her.
Maxie ran into Matt, who told her Jason was hurt in an explosion. She rushed to his side, only to find Monica begging her son to wake up. She babbled and pestered him until he awoke and grabbed her arm. Meanwhile, Carly was taken to an exam room, where Kelly said the baby is okay, but her condition is "serious." Carly begged Jax to go check on Jason. Alone, Kelly advised her to tell Jax about her clotting disorder. Jason was furious to discover that Jerry was allowed to waltz out of the hospital. Upon learning that Carly had collapsed, Jason insisted on visiting her. Spinelli arrived in response to Maxie's emergency summons, and was so happy that Stone Cold was okay that he embraced her and called her "Maxinista." But that didn't mean he was willing to get back together. In the ER, Carly told Jason she has the blood disease — just as Jax walked up. He listened outside the curtain as she insisted on keeping the baby — and keeping her illness a secret, no matter what. She asked for his support, and he agreed. After he left, Jax came in and told her he overheard about her blood-clotting disorder. He said he wants the child, "but not at the risk of losing you." She insisted she's strong and healthy, and "this baby is our dream." He said, "It's possible for you to have this baby." She said it's important to take this risk. Dr. Hensen warned Sonny that Michael is likely to suffer physical atrophy in the next 12-18 months, and is likely to suffer a setback in the near future, resulting in impaired neurological function. She recommended surgery within the next month. Sonny demanded to know if Michael will survive. She admitted there are no guarantees, but it's his best chance. Sonny told her to schedule the operation, and Michael's mother would agree. Back at home, Claudia warned Ric that Sonny would not believe Ric fathered her baby. Ric reminded her not to miscarry — just as Olivia walked in. Ric accused Olivia of carrying a torch for Sonny, then Claudia threw him out. Olivia accused Claudia of planning a secret abortion. Claudia accused Liv of stalking Sonny. Olivia accused Claudia of using a child to hang on to Sonny, and cautioned her that when Sonny finds out, Claudia will be out on her butt. Alone, Claudia scolded her operative for botching the hit on Jerry, and warned there better be nothing tying her to the explosion. Back at GH, Jason updated Sonny, who ordered him to take care of Jerry while he takes care of Carly. Jason told him Carly is patent. Jason went to Sonny's place to ask Carly about the explosion — he suspected someone was trying to keep Jerry from talking about Michael's shooting. Sonny checked on Carly, and told her that he approved Dr. Hensen doing the surgery. As Carly anguished over what to do, Jax entered, and scolded Sonny: "Upsetting her could kill her!"
Nikolas and Elizabeth met at Kelly's where she noted she and Lucky agreed to see other people. She reminded Nik that Lucky once tried to date Emily, so this is his chance to get the girl. Nik claimed he likes that Rebecca is not at all like Emily — she's edgy and plays good blackjack. Liz got a call from Patrick, who summoned her for help with Robin. Nikolas spied as Rebecca and Lucky returned from their date and smooched.
Robin was suddenly confronted by all her loved ones in her living room. Sensing a set-up, she tried to flee, but Patrick physically restrained her, and told she isn't leaving until she agrees to get some help.
Tuesday
Robin was furious to be ambushed by Patrick, Mac, Maxie, Matt, Elizabeth, Kelly and Dr. Brown. "The way you've lived since Emma was born is over," Brown warned her. Maxie kicked things off by revealing that she's always admired Robin, but doesn't recognize her now. She cannot understand why Robin sent her to Mercy with Emma. Robin cited the bioterror attack, and harshly scolded Maxie, calling her out for faking a pregnancy and feeding Lucky pills. Then she threw Maxie out. Mac defended Maxie, noting, "We're all here to help you get well." Kelly said she misses hanging out with Robin, and working the night shift with her. She noted refusing her meds was "a completely irresponsible choice." Matt said he knows his brother loves her, and urged her to accept treatment. Liz confessed she became an enabler, but pointed out Robin became a liar, and that PPD is keeping Emma from getting to know her mother. Patrick professed his love, and said he understands her struggle, but not her refusal to embrace help. He feared she secretly didn't want a life with him and Emma. Robin insisted, "I love our daughter," and said she understands now, "I have to change." She vowed to get back on her meds and attend counseling, but Brown said she needs in-patient care. "You're trying to get rid of me?" Robin cried. "I want our life back," Patrick said. Later, Robin packed and said goodbye to Emma. She told Patrick she was sorry for all the pain she's caused. "I'm really scared," she sobbed, and embraced him. "When you come home, I'm gonna be right here, waiting," he promised.
A sobbing Maxie sought out Johnny at the garage and threw herself into his arms. Then she noticed Spinelli was there. "Spinelli, I really miss you," she said. Lulu walked in, noting, "This is awkward." Lulu returned Johnny's CDs, then Spinelli dragged her away to distribute business cards. Maxie despaired of ever getting Spinelli or Robin back. "I wish I could make it right," Johnny sighed.
At GH, Sonny demanded to know why Jax was worried, so Carly told him about the blood-clot disorder. When Jax told him about her 50-50 chance of surviving pregnancy, Sonny flipped. "There's no way you should have this baby," he yelled. Carly insisted she's having the kid, and also that Michael will wake up. Carly pointed out that Claudia is pregnant, and Sonny barred her from an abortion. Sonny accused Jax of wanting the child more than he wanted Carly to live. A stressed-out Carly begged them to stop fighting, and asked Sonny to have faith. Sonny stalked off, leaving Carly to vow not to lose Jax's child. Jax asked her not to go through with it, but she insisted it was her risk to take. Max and Milo entered, saying Sonny assigned them to guard her for the duration of her pregnancy. Carly put Jax's hand on her belly and noted that she and the baby love him. At Sonny's place, Claudia denied any involvement in the Jerry hit, and Jason pointed out that he never mentioned her. She deflected to Ric, then felt a bout of abdominal pain. After she recovered, Sonny arrived and sent her upstairs. He told Jason about Carly's case, and was furious that Jason already knew. He demanded that Jason "talk Carly into saving her own life." Jason said it's Carly's choice, and, "We have to trust her. "He left, and Sonny smashed a bottle, drawing out a fearful Claudia, who was shocked to hear all about Carly. Sonny feared Michael's surgery would be too stressful for Carly. Jason met Diane at the penthouse, and told her he thinks Claudia was responsible for Michael's shooting. He recapped the clues, and Diane noted that while nothing will hold up in court, she agrees. Jason said Sonny would never kill the mother of his child, but he would make her miserable, and Jason said he cannot have another unhappy child on his conscience.
On The Haunted Star, Luke asked about the photo Ethan carries. "Holly Sutton gave it to me," he said. He claimed Holly advised him to learn the con game from the master. Luke suggested, "She wanted me to meet my son." Ethan laughed in his face, and Luke proposed a DNA test, which Ethan refused.
Wednesday
Tracy found Luke at The Haunted Star, where he was morose because Ethan had disappeared after refusing a DNA test. Luke insisted he has to know if he is Ethan's dad. Tracy accused Luke of rising to Ethan and Holly's bait. On the docks, Ethan told Lucky he's leaving town, but they squeezed in one last pissing match. Ethan told Lucky to be thankful that Luke is in his life. At Crimson, Maxie was worried about a missing layout when Ethan stopped by with an envelope of cash to repay what he stole last time, noting he's headed back to Australia. When Kate arrived she wondered if Maxie's personal life is interfering with doing her job. Lulu covered for a Maxie e-mail blunder, and Kate complimented their teamwork. Maxie sincerely thanked her, and Lulu said she was just protecting her own job. Then she admitted she shouldn't blame Maxie for her breakup with Johnny. On cue, Johnny arrived in response to Maxie's urgent summons. She said he needs to be fitted for another tux, and they might stay overnight in Chelsea — for the job. Kate suggested she might send them to Paris or Milan next season, upsetting Lulu. Later, Lulu gave Maxie a graphic novel to pass along to Spinelli. Johnny went home to scold Claudia for trying to kill Jerry — and for using her unborn child to justify heinous acts. Back on the Star, Luke said he knows there's a scam afoot — but it's a scam that Holly is running on Ethan to expose him as Luke's son. Tracy said Ethan has a right to not learn if he's Luke's, and then left. Lucky came in and mentioned that Ethan is leaving town. Luke rushed to the airport, where he promised the results of the DNA test would remain confidential, but, "I need to know if you're my son." Ethan said, "You have enough kids with issues," and he doesn't want to jon that club. Claudia scolded Fredo for demanding a bonus for failing. Sonny arrived and told her he got in a fight with Jax over Carly. She pointed out the kids would have a stepmother in her, if they wanted. He told her to never talk to him about Carly dying. Later, Olivia offered to talk to Sonny, but Jax claimed Sonny is manipulating Carly.
Patrick tried to get Emma squared away in a home that looked like a cyclone hit it — because he's a guy, and guys are, y'know, like that. Suddenly, Matt arrived, offering to move in and help. Patrick balked, but relented. However, Matt proved no more adept at child care (He's a guy, too!). Meanwhile, at GH, Elizabeth watched as Lucky brought Rebecca breakfast. Nikolas joined Liz in fuming as the happy couple canoodled in the break area. Then Rebecca wondered if Lucky was using her just to make Liz jealous. Liz told Nik about Robin going away, and implied Nik was stalking Rebecca again. Later, Liz went to check on Emma, and got things organized in moments (since she's not a guy). Patrick confided in Liz that he misses Robin — and feels guilty. Liz pointed out he did everything possible.
At Metro Court, Jax was telling Olivia he sent Carly to an out-of-town specialist when Sonny arrived to say he's willing to support Carly through her abortion, even if Jax isn't. Jax said, "I have a better idea," and punched Sonny in the face! Sonny punched him back, and Jax warned Sonny to steer clear of his family. Liv broke them up. Jax said Sonny doesn't get a vote on Carly's pregnancy, but Sonny insisted he does because she's the mother of his kids. Olivia jumped in to say Carly should make the decision with Jax, not her ex. Jax threw Sonny out with a warning to kick his ass and have him arrested next time. When Liv noted that fighting Sonny won't keep Carly stress-free, Jax admitted it may come down to terminating the pregnancy, after all.
Nikolas found Rebecca lounging on the pier, and suggested Lucky is paying attention to her only to get a rise out of him. She said they like each other — and she and Nik should see less of each other. Rebecca returned to work and clashed with Liz, prompting Rebecca to tell Liz to get over her dating Lucky now. Later, when Rebecca met Lucky for their date, Nik waltzed over to Liz and kissed her, leaving Lucky and Rebecca slack-jawed.
Thursday
Lulu visited Spinelli at his new PI offices to acknowledge that she and Johnny broke up on their own — Maxie wasn't a real factor. She assured Spinelli that he doesn't need to compete with Johnny, and pointed out that Maxie misses him. At the penthouse, while Jason talked reassuringly to Carly on the phone, Maxie badgered him to plead her case with Spinelli. She only thinks Johnny is hot and probably good in bed. Jason said Spinelli is trying to prove his masculinity to her by being a PI, and that gave her an idea. Later, Spinelli dropped by the penthouse to ask Jason for a gun. Stone Cold refused, saying Spinelli is good enough to do the job without a gun. Spinelli returned to his office to find Maxie waiting. She said she's being stalked. "Jackal PI will keep you from harm," he promised. Later, when Spinelli told Winnifred about the case, she pointed out the timing is suspicious, but Jackal scoffed. At the pier, Maxie arranged for a photographer's assistant to play her stalker in a fake assault that will allow Spinelli to play the hero and rescue her.
Jax told Patrick about Carly's condition and asked him to once again consult on Michael's case because Carly has faith in him. After he reluctantly agreed, Jax told a grumpy Dr. Hensen that Patrick will be on the surgical team. Hensen said she's heard of Patrick — and the cocky surgeon is "overdue to fail." When she asked why he gave up on Michael "so easily," Patrick said he didn't want to give Carly false hope. Concerned about some test results that didn't bother Hensen, Patrick feared Michael is running out of time. Next, Jax asked Jason not to go after Jerry, because Carly doesn't need the stress of worrying about Jason. Jax said if Jason helps Carly through her pregnancy, he will not interfere with Jason hunting down Jerry later.
At the airport, Ethan said if Luke turns out to be his father, that means Luke abandoned him. If he doesn't know who his parents are, he doesn't have to deal with them. If he's Luke and Holly's son, then he's a bastard. Luke challenged him to "be a man" and take the DNA test and all its consequences. "I like the idea of being your dad," he confessed. Tracy challenged Ethan to get on the plane. Luke warned Ethan he will be haunted forever by not knowing. Later, Luke and Ethan went to GH and asked Epiphany for a DNA test. She laughed out loud.
At the nurses' hub, Lucky accused Nikolas of kissing Elizabeth just to get back at him, but Liz played along, pretending they have a date. Later, on the pier, Rebecca told someone on her cell, "It's not working out." Lucky arrived to take her on a boat tour of the harbor. Or, she wondered, was he waiting for Nik and Liz to board the launch? Well, Nik and Liz went to Jake's, where they discussed his motives for the kiss. Coleman remarked that they are an unexpected pairing. Nik noted she's been a terrific friend. Liz said she wants someone to share her life with; she's afraid to reconcile with Lucky, especially with kids involved. Nik insisted he's over Emily, and admitted he could see himself with Liz for real. After all, she was Emily's friend and has a similar outlook on life. Liz noted he used to talk to Emily about everything — like how hot and manly Nik is, and how well he kisses. After their boat ride, Rebecca offered to buy drinks. Back at Jake's, Liz jokingly called Nik a "disgrace" to the Cassadine name, and he thanked her. Slowly, they realized that they are "best friends" who are unattached, and he suggested that all they have to do is see each other through different eyes. They started to kiss passionately — just as Rebecca and Lucky arrived. Once again, they were left slack-jawed.
Friday
Lucky and Rebecca walked out of Jake's, where Nikolas and Elizabeth were sucking face, convinced it was the real thing. Inside, Nik apologized, but Liz wasn't sorry. Coleman told them Lucky and "the Sequel Chick" stopped in and then ran off. Nik offered to tell Lucky he took advantage of a drunk Liz, but she insisted she enjoyed the kiss "just as much as you did." Lucky and Rebecca brought a couple of six-packs back to her room, where he noted it was weird to see his brother kiss his ex-wife. Rebecca revealed she used to go to AA meetings, and Lucky talked about his pill addiction and tangled history with Elizabeth. Liz told Nik that she and Lucky are stuck; they can't go forward or back. Then two sleazy types wandered into Jake's, with designs on robbing someone. Nik suggested that Lucky is forcing himself to move on, and Liz wondered if Nik thinks he'd really have a chance with Rebecca. Meanwhile, Rebecca wondered if even Emily could live up to Nik's ideal of Emily. Then they started making out on her bed. Liz revealed she conceived Cameron during a drunken hook-up with Zander upstairs at Jake's, and suggested Nik take Rebecca upstairs. Nik admitted he initially pursued Rebecca because of her resemblance to Emily, but now he understands that she has her own charms. Liz told him to tell Rebecca how he really feels. Later, Lucky stopped Rebecca from going any further because he can't stop thinking about Elizabeth. Suddenly, Nik burst in to Rebecca's room and saw the shirtless Lucky caressing her face.
After Patrick asked Matt for a consult on Michael's case at GH, Matt advised against taking it. He noted there's only a 6 percent chance it will work, and Patrick will be blamed when it fails. Patrick said the upside would be Michael waking up. Matt accused him of trying to compensate for Robin by ruining his career. At the hub, Claudia asked Kelly about a paternity test — just as Ric ran up and chimed in that he wants to confirm the baby is his! Kelly said the test must wait until August. Ric threatened to tell Sonny that the baby is his. Claudia summoned Johnny and told him Ric could be her baby's father. Then she asked him to kill Ric. Jason told Jax he will do whatever is best for Carly. When Sonny arrived, Jax asked him to wait before pursuing Jerry. Sonny said Carly dying from another pregnancy is not fair to the children she already has. Jax said he asked her not to carry the baby, but he respects her decision. Sonny called Carly "too stubborn for her own good." Sonny agreed that Carly doesn't have to know Jerry's role in Michael's kidnapping, but Sonny needs details about Michael's shooting. Sonny figured Jax was using Carly as an excuse to protect Jerry. Jason asked what will happen if Jerry fingers Claudia? Sonny admitted he can't kill a pregnant woman, but, how could he let the person who put Michael in a coma live? Jason advised Sonny to let revenge wait and concentrate on Michael and Claudia's pregnancy. Johnny told Claudia to put the baby up for adoption and get away from Sonny. Jax arrived, and Johnny left. Jax told her that Sonny should pay more attention to his own wife and baby. If she keeps Sonny engaged with her, he will keep Jerry out of PC. Then Sonny appeared and demanded, "What are you doing here?"
Sam returned to the offices of McCall & Jackal with news of taking a cheating-spouse case, only to hear Spinelli tell of taking on Maxie's case. At that moment, Maxie was on the pier with Dale, arranging a fake assault to make Spinelli look heroic. Later, when Spinelli called, Maxie told him she needed help on the pier. Elsewhere, Jason was walking along when a bikini-clad Sam suddenly shouted for him and leaped into his arms, and they made a quick getaway! Back on the pier, one of the thugs from Jake's confronted Maxie and demanded her purse. She thought it was the set-up arranged by Dale, but when he got rough with her, she realized something was very wrong...
