General Hospital Recaps
GH Week of April 7, 2008
Monday
At the warehouse, Sonny and Michael shared a warm exchange. In the blink of an eye, Sonny caught a flash of a gun as it fired. Sonny threw Kate to the
ground and covered her, but the bullet ricocheted off a pipe and struck Michael. Sonny was frantic, holding his bleeding son. "He's been shot!" he screamed. Paramedics arrived on the scene and took Michael away on a stretcher.
Along the roadside, Alexis was furious that Jerry crashed his car into hers. She demanded to know why he was in such a rush. Even in their argument,
romantic tension sizzled. "I should have run you over," an exasperated Jerry huffed. Just then, Alexis got a call about the shooting. Alexis was horrified, as was Jerry when he found out the victim was Michael.
At the Haunted Star, Lulu and Johnny kissed passionately. He broke it off and said, "Enough." Spinelli arrived and interrupted the fracas with the
news of Michael's shooting. Lulu turned to Johnny and asked if he had tried to kill Sonny. Johnny swore he did not shoot Michael nor hire anyone to kill
Sonny. Johnny vowed that their violent world is wrong. However, Lulu scolded Johnny because he's a position to get out, yet does nothing to do so.
At G.H. Patrick told an exhausted Robin to go home and get some rest. Just then, the call came in about Michael. When Robin overheard Patrick say the
victim was 12, she knew immediately who it was.
Carly and Claudia had words in the Metro Court lobby. Claudia accused Carly of still wanting Sonny. Just then, Carly's cell phone rang. It was Kate, who
broke the news that Michael was shot. Claudia eavesdropped and was also horrified to hear that Michael had been hit.
Jason and Elizabeth broke from their kiss, overjoyed that they'll be spending their lives together. "I want to marry you," he told his lady love. Elizabeth happily accepted. They kissed again. Then Jason's phone rang. It was Carly, telling Jason that Michael had been shot.
At G.H., Leyla turned down Cassius's offer of a date, vowing to never break the rule about dating someone she works with. Just then, a rattled Ian returned to work. Claudia showed up and demanded to see Ian. However, Ian was called upon to cover while Patrick performed Michael's surgery.
In the ambulance, Sonny tried to reassure Michael that he is going to be okay.
In Houston, Jax's meeting was interrupted by a call from Jerry. "You have to come home," Jerry told his brother. "Michael has been shot." Jax told Jerry to tell Carly that he's on his way.
As Michael was rushed into the hospital, Carly ordered Robin to take care of her boy. Carly told her son she loves him as he was rushed into surgery.
"How did this happen?" Carly demanded of Sonny. Sonny explained that he was showing Michael his legitimate business workings at the warehouse when a shot rang out.
Kate was furious that she was being detained at the warehouse by Lucky and Harper for questioning. Alexis arrived. Kate told her the story and allowed
her to go to G.H.
Patrick came to Carly and Sonny and told them Michael's condition was serious. He had a bullet lodged in his brain which needed to be removed.
After Patrick went into the O.R., Carly demanded Michael's clothes from Elizabeth. As she stared at the blood, Carly shrank to the floor and Jason rushed to comfort her. He whispered that she needs to be strong for Michael.
Prior to his surgery, Robin vowed to get Michael through his ordeal. When Carly took a moment with her son, Robin went to be with Jason, where they
reminisced about their lives when Michael was a baby. "He's gonna make it, isn't he?" asked Jason. "He has to," Robin replied.
Elizabeth watched Carly telling Michael to fight for his life.... Jerry showed up at G.H. and coldly told Ian, "A moment of your time, Dr. Devlin." He took Ian to a car at gunpoint and threatened to kill him himself and dump him on Sonny's doorstep.... Johnny showed up at the hospital and pulled Claudia aside. "How could this have happened?" he barked at his sister....
Jax was trapped on the runway trying to leave Houston.... Lulu rushed to Carly's side and volunteered to make calls. Sonny barked at Jason for not protecting Michael but Carly jumped in and told Sonny that Michael was with his father — it was Sonny's job to protect his son.
Tuesday
Sonny and Carly both offered Michael words of encouragement before he went in to surgery.
In the parking garage, Ian told Jerry if he was going to shoot, then shoot. Jerry realized this was not the time or place for revenge. Instead, he pistol-whipped Ian in the face. Jerry told Ian he'd better keep his mouth shut and kicked him out of his car.
Johnny chewed out Claudia regarding the botched hit. "This has gone too far," he swore. "I'm going to deal with the fallout." Trevor arrived and pointed out that Johnny appeared to be responsible and if he wants to live, he'd better point the finger of guilt at Claudia. Johnny refused and mentioned that Trevor would seem a believable suspect. Johnny and Claudia then raised their voices so Alexis would hear their argument. Alexis questioned the trio but Trevor had a solid alibi. After Trevor and Alexis
left, Johnny ordered Claudia to, "Fix this!"
In an office at G.H., Nikolas called out for Emily but there was no response. Nik then chewed out Leyla because Ian didn't respond to his page. Leyla then confided the incident to Nadine at the nurses' station, who vowed to chew out Nik for his rudeness. Nadine burst into the office to read Nik the riot act, but it was empty. She heard Nik coming in with Ian and ducked under the desk. She then overheard Nik say that the illegal drugs weren't working and he can't see Emily any more. Ian said he can't be held responsible for an experimental drug and told Nik that unless he gets the tumor removed, he will die. After Ian left, Patrick found Nadine hiding underneath the desk. She claimed she wasn't spying on him but admitted her case didn't look good. Nadine was furious at Nik's attitude and threatened to expose his dealings with Patrick. He ordered her to leave.
Patrick rescinded his earlier decision and allowed Robin to stay in the O.R., despite her attachment to the Michael. Patrick said the bullet went deep into Michael's brain and the boy was in danger due to blood clots.
In the hall during the surgery, Carly and Kate argued. When Jason suggested Kate should leave, Sonny barked that Kate's place was by his side. Jason shouted that they need to act like adults. Sonny and Carly agreed that Michael would be okay, but Carly assured her ex this would never happen again.
Maxie tried to ease Spinelli's grief over Michael's predicament. She talked about getting B.J.'s heart and Georgie's passing, and even admitted that she was too hard on her estranged mother, Felicia. They went to the chapel and prayed.
Elizabeth couldn't shake being spooked by Michael's shooting, secretly fearing for her own kid's safety in this violent mafia world in which they all live.
Jax finally got through to Carly. He was still stuck in Houston. Carly told him to take his time and get home to her safely. Then, Patrick appeared in the hall and told Carly she could go in and see Michael.
Patrick removed the bullet fragment and told his team they've done the best they could. In the hall, Patrick told Carly and Sonny that Michael would live, but that's all he said. Nik walked by, still fuming at Nadine, and saw the staffers escorting Michael back to recovery, followed by his devastated parents. Nik froze for a moment. He went home to look in on Spencer.
Claudia met with Ian and laid into him. Ian said regretted what happened but there was nothing they could do now except remain quiet — or else. Claudia and Johnny took the limo home. During the ride, she broke down with Johnny, saying she felt responsible.
Sonny confessed to Kate that he never once though that his son would bleed for him.... Robin thanked Patrick for his expert work in surgery. He lamented that Michael would never open his eyes again.
Wednesday
Luke called Claudia to The Haunted Star and inferred her complicity in Michael's shooting. He said he wants Lulu nowhere near Johnny when Sonny goes gunning for revenge. Lulu interrupted and said Johnny was with her at the time of the shooting. Luke questioned the Z-kids convenient alibis. After Claudia left, Lulu asked her father to talk to Sonny about not blaming Johnny. When Luke refused, Lulu said she'd do it herself.
Nadine apologized to Nikolas for butting into his life but couldn't admit that he was doing the right thing. Nik thanked her for her concern and invited her to Wyndemere. The two had a fun afternoon with Spencer, and Nadine told Nik about her past experiences with horses when she was younger.
Liz watched as Carly and Jason sat vigil by Michael's bedside. Carly remained optimistic that Michael was going to wake up soon, unaware that Patrick believed otherwise. Jason went to get Carly coffee and Bobbie stopped in to
comfort her daughter. She said her and Mike would watch Morgan and advised her to be strong. When Carly cried that she wished she could take Michael in her arms and hold him, Bobbie offered to take Carly into her arms and do the same. Mother and daughter quietly cried together.
Ric visited Alexis at work, where they both admitted they didn't sleep the night before. He told Alexis to do whatever she needed to protect her girls — She'd have his support whatever she decided. Alexis said she thought about moving and Ric encouraged her to take Molly for her own protection. Alexis thanked Ric for his selflessness. Afterward, Jerry came to see Alexis and she asked his help in whisking her and the girls out of town. Jerry said it was pointless to run, as Sonny's enemies could find her anywhere.
At the Q mansion, Tracy gave Edward the latest news on Michael but when she lied to her father about who may have been involved, her conscience, a.k.a. Alan, reappeared after a long absence to say, "Shame, shame, shame." Alan told Tracy that she needs to support Edward and Monica. Claudia showed up at the mansion to meet Tracy. Claudia charmed Edward but Alice was wary. Tracy met with Claudia and offered to buy out her interest in the Haunted Star. Luke interrupted the ladies as the insults flew.
Sam asked Liz how Michael was. She replied that he was stable but still unconscious. Sam extended her sympathy to Jason.... Ric visited Kate and and offered her comfort, as well. Ric was sympathetic about being someone who made bad choices with repercussions beyond their control.
In a great scene for Jacklyn Zeman, Bobbie went to see Luke and vented that, as a nurse, she knew Michael wasn't going to wake up and couldn't break the news to Carly. She then couldn't believe that Carly was now about to know the grief that she did when she lost B.J. all those years ago. She even kvetched about Carly choosing a life with Sonny, thus placing Michael in danger in the first place.
Lulu went to Carly to defend Johnny but Carly didn't want to hear it. Lulu then went to work and Kate reamed her for being late. Lulu was flummoxed, especially when Kate coldly called Lulu out on her bullish ways during this tragedy, leaving Lulu speechless.
Still in denial, Carly asked Jason to tell Michael a story. Jason didn't know one but talked about when Michael was little. Jason got very emotional and asked Michael to please wake up. Patrick and Robin came by and finally broke the news to Carly and Jason that Michael was in a permanent coma with little chance of ever waking up again.
Thursday
Over at Chez Fashionista, Lulu opened the door for a morose Sonny. Kate asked Sonny how Michael is doing but he said he hadn't seen his son. Before Lulu went to run an errand for Kate, she told Sonny that she's sure Johnny had nothing to do with Michael's shooting. Sonny remained silent and kept his head down. Kate asked why he wasn't with Michael, and Sonny lamented that he can't go see Michael without making things worse for Carly. He recounted what it was like to become a father to Michael and talked of the first time Michael said, "Dad, I love you."
Claudia paid Luke a visit at the Q mansion and was granted an inside glimpse of Tracy and Luke's dysfunctional marriage, nicknames and all. Tracy reminded Luke that what happened to Michael could happen to Lulu if he lets his daughter date Johnny. Claudia called Tracy's warning a tad dramatic, while Luke said there's nothing he can do to stop his daughter from seeing who she likes. Lulu walked in just time to hear her name and informed Claudia of what she had mentioned to Sonny. Luke advised Lulu that spending the morning negotiating between two mobs to save her boyfriend's butt was not dating.
At G.H., Patrick broke the news to Carly that Michael may never wake up from his coma. Carly didn't want to hear it and was certain that Michael's condition was improving. Mike arrived to see his grandson and asked Carly if it was okay that he was there. He offered to get Sonny a cup of coffee, but Carly barked that his son wasn't there. Mike went off to track down Sonny and found him at Kate's. He began to berate him for hanging out with his girlfriend during this trying time, but Kate went off on Mike and his not-so-shining example as a father. Kate explained that Sonny is staying away from Michael out of respect for Carly. Mike understood but urged Sonny to fight for his child. Meanwhile, Carly sat by Michael's bedside and talked about all the things they would do when he was better. Jason returned and wondered if they should let a rehabbing Monica know about Michael. Carly insisted she be the one to tell Michael's grandma, then sobbed that all the choices she's made have put them in this situation. Jason reminded her that she's not the only one who's made choices about Michael and that not all of hers were wrong. Jason headed over to the rehab facility to see a refreshingly clear-headed Monica to tell her about Michael. She wanted to know all the details and was strangely sympathetic, even offering Jason a loving hug.
At Wyndemere, Nikolas unloaded a box of toy train parts and impressed Nadine with his foreign language skills. Things got a little awkward when their hands touched while reaching for the same piece of track. Nikolas watched as Nadine bonded with Spencer but was distracted when he saw Emily standing in the corner. He got up and abruptly asked Nadine to leave. She knew right away that Nikolas had seen Emily and excused herself while Nik smooched his imaginary fiance.
Diane tried to get Alexis to unwind at Jake's. Coleman offered to make Diane one of his "specialties." Diane admitted that sometimes she fantasizes about Coleman, from "the top of his tousled head to the tips of his cowboy boots." Coleman returned with something special for the ladies. Alexis admitted that she didn't wish Michael harm but that she was always looking for proof that Sonny's life could harm their daughter. As they continued to drink, Alexis complained about their boring, predictable patterns, referring to her love life. "But a man like Sonny is tremendous in bed," argued Diane, clarifying that she doesn't know firsthand. Also at Jake's, Patrick called Robin and drunkenly asked if she needs a father for her baby. She didn't find that funny but asked if there's anything he needs. His answer was cryptic: "Yes, so I'll talk to you sometime," and he hung up. Claudia slithered over and offered to buy him a drink. She didn't waste her time prying about Robin and her HIV baby, even suggesting that Robin set him up, just as a pajama'd Robin sidled up to the bar.
Kate accompanied Sonny to the hospital and they tentatively entered Michael's room. Carly excused herself but Kate followed her out to tell her that Sonny is in pain, too. Carly stormed off, so Kate went to offer Sonny some comfort as he visited his son. Sonny promised Michael that he'd be right there when Michael wakes up. Alexis and Detective Harper arrived to question Sonny, who grudgingly obliged. Carly was standing nearby as Sonny described the details of the shooting, including that he shielded Kate instead of Michael, which Carly was not too happy to hear.
Friday
At G.H., Carly went ballistic when, during Harper's questioning, Sonny revealed that he landed on Kate to protect her from the sniper. She couldn't
believe Sonny would choose his sex partner over his own son. She slapped Sonny and told him he was no longer Michael's father.
At Wyndemere, Nikolas laid on the couch with Emily, who pointed out that he was going to die just because he was afraid he couldn't live without her. The two had a tearful exchange where he begged her not to leave him. Just then, Nadine burst in and said Emily will have to wait. They need to talk. Nadine wanted to punch out Emily but Nik told her that wasn't necessarily. Em wants him to live, too, he relayed. Nadine was furious at the way Nik shoves off real people to spend time with a fantasy. She went to leave in a huff but twisted her ankle.
At the rehab center, Monica forgave Jason for what she claimed was his part in Alan and Emily's deaths. She urged him not to blame himself for Michael's predicament and told her son she loved him. Just then, Elizabeth called and said that Carly needed him.
At the nurses' station, Nadine kvetched to Leyla about Nikolas. Nadine said that was it. She fell for him. He doesn't want her. They're through. Leyla
offered Nadine the benefit of her experience with Patrick. Nadine then decided to confront Nik.
Robin was surprised to find Patrick and Claudia drinking together at Jake's. Patrick said he was defending Robin's honor when Claudia accused her of getting pregnant deliberately. Robin said she didn't want to hear it. Claudia was saddened to hear Michael's gloomy prognosis. Robin doubted her emotion and dragged Patrick out of the bar. Back at her apartment, Patrick admitted the reason he was drinking wasn't because of Michael. It was because of what he was feeling for Michael's father. Robin played the role of "mother's" advocate and they discussed Carly and Michael's predicament.
Diane showed up at Sonny's, where Max was feeling sorry for himself, since he was unable to protect Michael. He poured some drinks and Diane said he was a sweet man, “But you're an idiot.” She reminded Max that Sonny ordered him to stay home. As they talked, Diane started feeling guilty, as well. Suddenly, she grabbed Max and pulled him into a kiss. Later, Alexis came to the house looking for Sonny and caught Max and Diane having sex on the couch.
Jason showed up and a crushed Carly told him that Sonny saved Kate over Michael. Carly lamented the choices she made in her life and felt utterly hopeless. Jason offered kind words but Carly was inconsolable.
Sonny returned to the warehouse, followed by Kate. Kate tried to make Sonny feel better, to no avail. Sonny said there was no one else to blame but himself. Kate assured him he did nothing wrong. Sonny told Kate that he can't look at her, because all he sees is how he didn't protect Michael. A crestfallen Kate turned around and left.
Elizabeth went home to spend time with her boys, secretly fearing that what happened to Michael could happen to Jake. Jason arrived. He told Liz he loved her but never wanted her in Carly's shoes. He then told Liz that they couldn't go ahead with their plans to wed.
Claudia went to see Michael and apologized for what happened. She gave him a gift, just as Carly walked in and ordered Zacchara away from her boy.
