General Hospital Recaps

GH Week of February 16, 2009

Monday

On the ambulance ride to Mercy, there was plenty of tension between Rebecca, Nikolas and Nadine. At Mercy, Edward and Monica asked Mac to bring them Rebecca, because Edward wanted to know why Rebecca is in town. Later, Nikolas thanked Rebecca for saving his life and offered to pay all her medical bills, but she bristled at his hovering and butting in. Nik went to see the Quartermaines, who quizzed him about Rebecca. When Nik went to retrieve Rebecca, she'd already left.

There was a lot of tension in the command bunker as Kate, Sonny and Claudia were reunited, then Olivia walked in. Kate was disappointed Sonny didn't rescue her, but he explained how he got trapped with Carly. Rayner interrupted to announce ambulance would bring the women to Mercy, and he wanted to question Sonny. Rayner warned Sonny he faces RICO charges related to Zacchara's organization - even if he cut a deal with Jason, because if the FBI cannot take down Anthony, he'll settle for Sonny. Outside the command trailer, Carly reunited with Jax, but their embrace was interrupted by Alexis, who was looking for Sam. Then Lulu arrived, asking about Johnny. At that moment, Johnny was inside G.H., rescuing Maxie. She awoke and refused to leave without Spinelli. Later, at Mercy, Olivia brought Kate to Claudia. “I know what you did,” Kate teased. “You had [Sonny's] son shot.” Claudia tried to cover, yet Kate fretted that if she tells, Sonny will kill Claudia, and she doesn't want to be the instrument of anyone's death. Kate suggested Claudia confess at the hospital in order to keep Sonny from instantly shooting her. Claudia pointed out there's no proof she did anything wrong. Sonny burst in, and Kate told him the discussion was just between her and Claudia. Left alone with his wife, Sonny demanded an explanation. Claudia suggested her behavior inside G.H. was a test to see if he would save her. Sonny appreciated her honesty about Anthony. Claudia was heartened to think that she and Sonny are understanding each other's motives more and more. She pointed out that he kidnapped and beat Johnny, making her fear for her life. Sonny wondered why she was bringing up the past….

Luke was going crazy in his cell with mumbling Ethan, and demanded someone call Lucky, but was refused. Luke bemoaned to Ethan that his son is a cop. Ethan understood that Luke would naturally want his son to grow into a notorious outlaw, and suggested Lucky just wanted to shake off the legacy of a legend. Luke suggested busting out.

Robin bonded with a sleeping Emma, and said she learned to "keep going, and fight." It was a tough night, "but now everything's okay." Mac came in and reported Patrick was saved, and was being debriefed by the FBI. She told him Emma's lungs are clearing and she'll be okay. Mac reassured Robin that she made the right choice for her child. Robin was grateful for Johnny and Maxie. She regretted not bringing Emma to Mercy herself, but admitted people needed her help. Mac said parenthood is about making choices and trying to balance the personal and professional.

Back at G.H., Jason pulled Sam to safety and rescued the last of Earl's toxic balls from falling into the street. He tossed the sphere into the fire, destroying the biotoxin, and then got woozy. They sought out an exam room, where Sam changed the dressing on his bullet wound. Outside, Jax suggested taking the helicopter back up to rescue the stragglers and Lulu wants to help Johnny. As she argued with a fireman, Maxie and Johnny stumbled out of G.H. Sam told Jason Spinelli was concerned about his Wi-Fi connection, so Jason theorized he was going to check the signal. They went to the utility closet and found a raging inferno.

Tuesday

Lulu watched Maxie thank Johnny for saving her life, then the trio went to the empty command post, where Mac scolded Maxie for rushing into the burning building. She refused to leave until Spinelli is rescued. After Lulu told Johnny that Claudia had collapsed from the biotoxin, he rushed to see her. At Mercy, Ric interrupted Claudia and Sonny with news that Trevor died and Anthony disappeared. When Sonny revealed that Claudia told him the truth about Anthony, Ric suggested Claudia only told him to cover her butt. Sonny vowed never to trust Ric again. Ric and Sonny each pointed out that the other could take the fall for the entire Zacchara organization, but Sonny said he knows how to cover his trail — and won't help Ric. After Ric left, Claudia asked Sonny if he will trust her or continue to hold past mistakes against her. Then Johnny burst in and embraced his sister. He mentioned saving Robin and Emma, so Sonny went to check on them. Claudia recapped about Trevor and Anthony, then said Kate knows she was involved in Michael's shooting. Johnny urged her to flee the country, but Claudia refused, sure that she could finesse the situation since Kate has no evidence. Out in the command post, Maxie recapped how Johnny saved her and Robin and Emma. Maxie said she now understands what Lulu sees in Johnny: He's someone she can trust. Lulu left to check on Tracy at Mercy.

While Agent Rayner grilled Patrick in a dark room about the toxic capsules, Robin was at Mercy, telling Emma how much she loves her. Nik arrived and mentioned meeting Rebecca. Robin worried that Nik's brain tumor may have returned, but he assured her that other people had interacted with Rebecca. Later, Rebecca burst into Elizabeth's room in order to duck Nik. When Rebecca complained about everyone noting her resemblance to Emily, Liz explained how devoted Nik was to Em, and suggested Rebecca "could be nice about it." Angry, Rebecca stalked out. Later, Nik arrived, and confessed that seeing Rebecca gives him a surge of hope. "Rebecca isn't Emily," Liz reminded him. "I know that," he answered, and vowed to find out how they're connected. When Winifred reported that Emma is okay, Rayner let Patrick go. Meanwhile, at Mercy, the attending was willing to discharge Emma, but Robin wasn't sure she should leave. Mac arrived and convinced Robin to take Emma home. When Sonny arrived, Robin said Emma is now her No. 1 priority. Mac brought Robin and Emma home, then scolded her for not getting checked out by a doctor herself. "I feel like myself again," Robin answered. Back at Mercy, Sonny told Patrick that his wife and baby are fine, then praised Patrick for saving so many lives. Patrick admitted he felt guilty for not being with his family when they needed him most. Later, Rebecca was on the phone at Metro Court when Nik cornered her. She thanked him for saving her life, then ordered him to leave her alone. Still later, Patrick returned home and reunited with his family. "My prayers were answered," he sighed.

Sonny returned to Claudia's room and pronounced himself ready to move on from past mistakes. However, they got married as a business deal, and now that deal is over. She asked if he wants out of the marriage.

In the General Hospital inferno, Jason braved the flames to kick open the door to the utility closet, but Spinelli was nowhere to be seen. Jason boosted Sam into the air duct to look for him, then they set off in search of the Jackal. He was in the air ducts, and heard them calling, but communication was difficult. In the command post, Winifred sought information about Spinelli, but Maxie condemned her for leaving him behind, and spying on him to begin with. Inside, Spinelli kicked out a grate and dropped into a room full of oxygen and anesthesia tanks. Which promptly exploded!

Wednesday

Robin, Patrick and Emma all cuddled together, and Patrick was modest about his heroics. He felt guilty for putting work before his family — just like his father did. Robin admitted it was stupid to take Emma on the road, then tried to explain why she did it. Later, when Emma woke up, Robin insisted Patrick feed her.

At Mercy, Sonny noted that with Anthony gone, so is the reason he married Claudia. She pointed out she risked her life moving in with him, but now sees he's a man of his word, and she trusts him. A doctor arrived to check out Claudia, so Sonny left. Outside, Olivia wandered by with word that Connie wanted to talk to him. Olivia berated Sonny for giving Connie "hope" of a reconciliation. He went to Kate, who noted she put her life and career on the line to have a life with him. Sonny insisted she's better off without him. She said she wanted to warn him, but Sonny cut her off, noting he had no illusions about Claudia. Kate asked if he would come back to her if he split from Claudia. Sonny noted how destructive his life has been on her, and that Claudia understands how to live in his world. "I see no reason to not stay married to her," he sighed. Kate called him "an arrogant, self-deceiving fool." He countered that the life he wanted with Kate "can't happen," so he will accept what he has with Claudia. "You're getting exactly what you deserve," Kate hissed as he left. Next, Johnny visited his sister and suggested she leave the country. Claudia recapped how she told Sonny all of Anthony's plans. Johnny pointed out nobody knows where Anthony is. Claudia claimed Sonny respects her, but Johnny worried how long that will last once Sonny hears the truth about Michael's shooting. Claudia resolved to keep quiet and stay with Sonny so she has access to power, even if love isn't part of the equation. Sonny interrupted to tell her he just had "an interesting conversation with Kate." Kate, meanwhile, moaned to Olivia that she couldn't show Sonny the incriminating DVD because of Liv. Kate swore: "Sonny Corinthos is going to pay for what he did to me."

At Metro Court, Nikolas asked balky Marty for personal information on Rebecca: her home address, billing info, a record of her calls and to whom. Rebecca witnessed this, and threatened to call the cops. Later, when Lucky arrived, Nik confessed he went overboard. Lucky asked to see Rebecca, and told her Nik is his brother. Nikolas went to the Quartermaine crypt to tell Emily about Rebecca and promise to get to the bottom of the mystery. Back at Mercy, Lulu found Tracy eager to be released — and furious that Luke was nowhere to be found. Lulu suggested it's crazy to love anybody because it never works out.

Outside G.H., Winifred stopped Maxie from entering the burning building, then Lucky seized her and dragged her back to the command post, where she argued with Winifred over Spinelli. Winifred insisted she had made amends for lying to him. Inside, Jason rushed into the room following the explosion and pulled Spinelli out. Sam performed rescue breathing to revive him. The trio made their way down the debris-strewn stairwell to the lobby level, where Jason broke open the door and they made a dash for the door. When Jason, Sam and Spinelli finally made it out, Maxie ran into Spinelli's arms and they kissed passionately as a tearful Winifred looked on.

Sonny told Claudia that Kate always saw the best in him, but that man doesn't exist. He told Claudia he is willing to stay married — if she is. "Sure, I'll stay Mrs. Sonny Corinthos," she answered.

Thursday

Agent Rayner warned Sam that although the fire is out, "this isn't over." Sam assured him she saw the last of Earl's poison balls consumed in the fire. Rayner promised that if Anthony is not found, Spinelli is going to jail. Sam — and Winifred — defended Spinelli, but Rayner insisted he needs a high-profile arrest. Alexis interrupted to squire her daughter away. Alexis warned Sam not to get dragged into the federal case against Spinelli, but Sam insisted on helping her friend. Rayner assigned Winifred to watch Spinelli in case they need to rearrest him. Spinelli awoke in Maxie's room, and she insisted he start eating and drinking healthy — and she gave him some product-placed juice. She suggested the "man of action thing" is not for him, and forbid him from risking his life anymore, because she worries. She got a text, and moaned, "This is a disaster!" Lulu forgave Johnny, but he felt bad for yelling at her, and fretted that his past makes him unfit for her. She insisted she doesn't care about his past. Then she got a text, and moaned, "This is a disaster." The girls rushed to Crimson, where they learned the model Crimson booked cannot attend the red ball to wear the magazine's signature red dress. Maxie ordered Lulu to get Crimson on the list, and when she could not get a celebrity to wear the dress, Maxie decided she could wear it herself. After all, she did have a heart transplant, and the dress is her size. Later, Winifred burst in on Spinelli with his shirt off, and warned him that the Jackal could be caged — permanently — if Anthony cannot be found.

When Milo showed Max a DVD he found at the gatehouse, Claudia claimed it and asked them to be on the lookout for more like it. When she played it, Jerry told her the next one is in "a room close to Sonny's heart." She summoned Johnny and showed it to him, then revealed that Sonny wants to stay married. Johnny pointed out it's inevitable that someone will discover one of those DVDs and Sonny will learn the truth. Meanwhile, at Mercy, Olivia and Kate bickered over the DVD Liv destroyed. Kate said Sonny and Claudia deserve each other, and deserve to be as miserable as Kate can make them. Looking to make good on her threat, Kate later sneaked over to Sonny's place. Claudia went upstairs to search Michael's room for the disc, so Kate crept inside and poked around the study. Then Claudia returned and caught her. Later, Max and Diane were having dinner at Metro Court when Milo just happened run into them — just as the boys had previously arranged. Milo suggested Diane eat a heart-healthy diet. Her suspicions that his spiel sounded "suspiciously well-rehearsed" were reinforced when Milo suddenly produced a jar of product-placed sauce and convinced the chef to substitute it for his own on their meals.

At Metro Court, Carly and Jax danced around the truth that they both wished they had spent last night together. "I want to spend every morning waking up to you," he said, but as he leaned in for a kiss, Edward interrupted. The Quartermaine patriarch rambled about rebuilding GH bigger and better than ever, and Carly and Jax vowed to contribute. Jax surreptitiously assigned Olivia to act as liaison with Edward, and she lured him away so Jax and Carly could slip into an elevator and start making out. They had to stop when another couple boarded, but resumed when the interlopers got off. They toned it down when a bellman briefly stepped aboard with baggage, but by the time a janitor stood at the doors, there was no stopping them. They both got off on the 16th floor, as a grinning Marty flashed a knowing smile.

Friday

Spinelli was too sick — despite drinking the product-placed juice — to serve as Maxie's escort, so she eyed Johnny. A jealous Lulu refused to loan out her boyfriend, but offered to wear the dress herself. Maxie demanded Spinelli decide; he flipped a coin and determined that Maxie should wear it. Later, the dolled-up Maxie and Johnny hit the red carpet. Spinelli called Lulu, who watched from the limo, and noted how fantastic Maxie and Johnny looked together.

At Metro Court, Max walked in on Jax and Carly basking in the afterglow of their romantic interlude. Max was looking for Diane, but plopped down and rambled about a "heart-healthy diet." When Jax and Carly pointed out he needs to be more tactful with Diane, he agreed and left, going back to Sonny's to pitch Claudia on a healthy diet. Later, Jax ordered room service — and arranged for Morgan to deliver the goodies, thrilling Carly. They told the boy Jax is coming home. Downstairs in the lobby, Alexis scolded nephew Nikolas for getting in danger yet again, and mentioned they're almost ready to begin rebuilding GH. Nik mentioned being unsettled by Rebecca, and how little he knows about her. Unflappable Alexis wondered what difference it would make if she were related to Emily. "I loved Emily and I always will," he said — just as Nadine walked by. She listened as Nik explained how he'll never forget Emily and how much he wants to connect with Rebecca. After Alexis left, Nadine asked if he's still chasing a ghost. "I don't deserve how good you are to me," he said. Nadine beat a hasty retreat when Rebecca breezed in. Nik asked to talk to her, but she told him she heard his Emily spiel the first 20 times. He offered to get her a job at GH if she would listen to him for one hour.

Lucky told Sam that Elizabeth is doing well at Mercy. Sam told him, "I've realized that it's over, and I think you have too." She revealed that she wants a private investigator's license. Lucky said he wanted to remain friends, however, "It's time we let go."

In Sonny's study. Kate poured herself a drink and boasted to Claudia that she was welcome in Sonny's house. Then Sonny walked in and told Kate she's not helping anyone by visiting. Kate took offense that he took Claudia's side, so she left. Claudia was impressed by Sonny backing her. He pointed out she got on his good side by telling him about Anthony. When he asked for her help finding Anthony, she offered to do what she could. Later, Kate returned and assured Claudia that she did not need evidence that Claudia had Michael shot — she just needs to plant a seed of doubt in Sonny's mind. Then the camera revealed that another DVD was hidden very close to both women. At the penthouse, Winifred warned Jason that Agent Rayner needs a big arrest, and if Jason cannot deliver Anthony, he should consider gathering evidence against Sonny — or else Spinelli is going to prison. When Diane arrived Winifred left. Diane and Jason shot pool and discussed healthy diets — as well as his legal situation. Diane said Jason could watch Spinelli go to jail, or feed the feds someone else. Spinelli returned to the penthouse, where filled in Jason on the Maxie/Lulu situation and resolved to ruin the gala by hacking the gala's sprinklers. A knock at the door brought Sonny, who threw Spinelli out. Sonny suggested they work together to find Anthony, whom Sonny wants dead, but he's willing to settle for prison. Sonny offered to contact other organizations for help — if that's okay with Jason.
