GH Week of July 21, 2008

Monday

Jax insisted that Carly stop sabotaging his business with Kate, and Carly wanted him to sell out. Clarice called to tell Jax he was late for a meeting with Roger that she had told Carly about. A furious Jax stormed out on Carly and went to Crimson, where he reassured a nervous Roger that his market access will increase 30 percent despite tabloid rumors of illicit romance. Later, Carly arrived and told Jax she never received any message. Kate backed up Clarice, who insisted she logged the call. Carly called her a liar, and asked Jax whom he believed. He said "Kate and Clarice are professionals" who wouldn't jeopardize the magazine. A furious Carly stormed out, and Jax followed. Kate chortled that Jax deserves "far better than Carly," and mused that she's just trying to ensure Crimson's success. Kate invited Sonny over to celebrate, but he said he has business. Then he called Karpov and told him, "I'm ready to discuss your offer."

At PCPD, Johnny wanted to keep Lulu from confessing, so he grabbed her gun and pretended to take her hostage. Harper drew his weapon, but Jason knocked him down so the shot went wide. (Yes, Harper opened fire on a hostage inside the station!) Outside, Johnny commandeered Mayor Floyd's car. Lucky and Harper assumed Jason was in on the escape and took him into custody. Meanwhile, at the penthouse, Maxie said she felt horrible about taking advantage of Spinelli and "using you for sex." Then Mac summoned Maxie to the station. At Sonny's place, a suspicious Claudia tried to figure out if Sonny was teaming up with Karpov, but Sonny insisted he's not involved. She didn't want the balance of power in PC to shift. Then she got a call from Harper to come downtown and talk about Johnny. At PCPD, Diane cut off Lucky's interrogation of Jason and scolded the new boss for obstructing justice. Mac asked Maxie if Lulu ever discussed helping Johnny escape, but she and Spinelli defended Jason. Floyd wanted Spinelli arrested, but Mac sent him home. The mayor's car was found abandoned in the warehouse district. On a fire escape somewhere, Johnny told Lulu he loves her and isn't sorry to be on the run with her. Back at PCPD, Claudia told Mac and Floyd she had nothing to do with Johnny's escape, and Nikolas suggested to Lucky that Lulu might have tried to spring Johnny. Later, Claudia went to the penthouse and told Spinelli to find Johnny before the cops kill him. Johnny was, at that moment, promising to get Lulu someplace safe — and breaking into an apartment.

AT GH, Nadine told Nikolas that she planned to steer her date with Matt toward a discussion of counterfeit drugs. At the restaurant, Matt noticed she was nervous, and he wondered if she feared he would sell her body for black-market organs. Then she noticed Sonny arriving for a meeting with Karpov. Sonny turned down his offer — but had one of his own: He will serve as an adviser, not a partner. And there must be no violence or competition with his old organization. Back at PCPD, Cody visited Jason to warn him that a boss from Russia is looking to hire local guys. Cody felt he needed to pay back Jason for being kind to him in the past (on NIGHT SHIFT, to be precise). Jason asked Cody to keep his eyes peeled.

Later, at home, Carly apologized to Jax, but he said, "I want a separation." She vowed not to let their marriage end.

Tuesday

At PCPD, Mayor Floyd demanded that Mac explain how the gun got inside the precinct house. Nikolas asked Jason to help find Lulu — for Emily's sake. Jason suggested Lulu smuggled the gun to Johnny. Nik filled in Lucky, then Nadine arrived, so Nik moaned to her about not keeping Lulu away from dangerous Johnny. Elsewhere, Johnny told Lulu that they have broken into the apartment of his old piano teacher, Prof. Siegel. The apartment represents a safe place to him. Lulu whined that she should have given Logan a chance to explain himself before killing him. Johnny recapped the killing twice, but Lulu still felt guilty and feared she will go mad like her mother. There was a knock at the door, and Johnny drew his gun before opening it to see an imposing-looking man. At the penthouse, Spinelli told Claudia he could only search for Johnny if Jason authorizes it. Claudia tried to blackmail Maxie into coaxing Spinelli to help, so Maxie told him herself about her $20,000 bargain to sleep with Johnny. Spinelli rebuffed Claudia and declined to judge Maxie. Later, Mac arrived and demanded that Maxie not shack up "in Jason Morgan's living room." Maxie agreed to go home, but vowed to immediately run to Metro Court and have sex with the first bellman she can find.

At Metro Court, Anthony and Ric told Trevor about Johnny's escape. Anthony vowed to kill Trevor if Johnny is killed, but Trevor wasn't scared. He blamed Anthony for trying use Lulu as leverage. Anthony promised Lulu will die. Ric went to PCPD to accuse Jason of trying to spring Johnny but bungling the job.
Then Trevor rolled in Anthony, who traded accusations with Nik until Anthony called Laura "a nutcase," infuriating Nik. Anthony visited Jason in his "office" and suggested Lulu smuggled in the gun — but Jason gave it to her. Anthony vowed that if Johnny dies, he will kill Jason and unleash a reign of terror in Port Charles.

A furious Carly refused "to give up on us" — but Jax questioned if there ever really was an "us." Carly pointed out that Jax never fights for his women: Courtney, Skye, Chloe, Brenda, etc. He said he's leaving right now because he's tired of fighting. Carly accused him of lying by not telling her about kissing Kate and playing off her fear of abandonment. He charged that she never notices him until he's on the verge of leaving. She asked if he's abandoning Morgan, too; Jax resented the manipulation. She said the point of marriage vows was to keep him around when he feels like running. He insisted he tried to make the marriage work, but she undercut his business. She lamented that he thinks she would deliberately hurt him. She demanded he kiss her goodbye before leaving, so he did. "See, you do love me," she gloated. "Yeah. I always will," he replied. Then he walked out.

Wearing a stained shirt, Matt arrived at the GH nurses' station, where he told Leyla that Nadine spilled pasta sauce on him in her haste to leave when she heard about the jailbreak. Later, Spinelli walked Maxie home (evidently to keep her away from any bellhops) and left her after a hug and peck on the cheek. Inside her house, Maxie yelped to find a naked Matt waiting in the dark.

Back at PCPD, Claudia promised to tell Jason when Johnny calls, if Jason promises to protect Johnny. Meanwhile, Johnny told the visitor that he is "Joe," a former student of the professor's, and Lulu is "Linda." The man said, "Professor Siegel's dead."

Wednesday

Spinelli and Maxie struggled with Matt, then Robin arrived to stop Maxie from calling the police — because Robin had rented Georgie's room to him. Smarmy Matt gloated that he put down deposit and has a key, so he lives there — and he doesn't care about Maxie's "family issues." Maxie told a remorseful Robin she would find a way to send him "screaming into the night." Later, Matt visited the clinic under cover of darkness, where Nadine spotted him removing drugs from a cabinet. He claimed to be spot-checking the meds, and Nadine covered for him when Nik arrived.

At PCPD, Diane warned Jason that as a result of interfering with Harper's "clear shot" at the fleeing Johnny, if Johnny kills a cop Jason could face charges of "murder with special circumstances" — and lethal injection! When Diane wondered where Lulu got the gun, Jason suggested Edward's gun collection, but when he realized that painting Lulu as an accomplice would result in a "murder with special circumstances" rap against her, Jason blocked that defense. At the GH nurses' station, Lucky recapped the escape to Elizabeth, and noted that Lulu was acting like their mother — right before she lost her mind.

At Metro Court, Sonny met Sasha, a representative of Karpov's organization, and reiterated that he is willing to suggest transportation routes, friendly public officials and like-minded parties — as long as Karpov peacefully co-exists with Jason's crew. Meanwhile, at another table, Anthony berated Claudia over the Johnny mess. Anthony began shouting that Claudia poisoned Johnny against him and lamenting not drowning her after Johnny was born. Sonny came over and asked the sputtering Anthony to lower his voice, then offered Claudia a ride home (which Sasha noticed). Sasha told newly-arrived Diane that she represents a coffee consortium looking to do business with Sonny. At home, Claudia wondered why Sonny helped her. He said he would have helped anyone in that situation. Later, Diane went to Jason to ask if Sonny would ever cheat on Kate — like with this "Sasha" at Metro Court? Jason was shocked that Sonny protected Claudia, then ordered Diane to have Max boost security for Sonny.

In New York (which Johnny and Lulu somehow reached after dumping his car), Sal said Professor Siegel died quietly a few months ago, and never mentioned a former student called "Joe." (No Joes in New York City? Really?) Johnny sat at the piano and played Billy Joel's "Nocturne," which convinced gun-wielding Sal that Johnny/Joe used to be a student. Sal let them stay, and then asked Joe to give his sister, Lourdes, piano lessons. Lulu worried that their mug shots would soon be plastered all over the news.

At Wyndemere, Nikolas feared that Lulu could be taken from him just like Emily. Just as Nadine tried to comfort him, Sam arrived. She sailed all the way to Spoon Island to chat about her plan to infiltrate the counterfeit drug ring by faking a breakup with Lucky and getting a job as a ship captain. Sam returned home to find Lucky, who told her the use of deadly force against Johnny and Lulu was rescinded. (And he now thinks Lulu planned the escape.) He fretted about her undercover plan and pretending to be broken up. Then they smooched.

Sonny warned Claudia that if anything happens to Lulu, he and Luke will be out for revenge. He pointed out that if Johnny kills a cop, that will be "murder with special circumstances" for Lulu. In NYC, Lulu and Johnny cuddled after making love on the couch (nope, no beds in the Big Apple, either).

Thursday

Sam suggested to Lucky that no news about Lulu is good news, so they went back to smooching, but Elizabeth knocked on the door. Lucky hid. Liz suggested that Sam comfort Lucky, who was worried about Lulu. As Lucky eavesdropped, Liz said she and Lucky aren't in love, and Sam said she's not eager to risk her heart again. Liz told her not to give up on Lucky. After she left, Sam admitted she's starting to respect Liz.

Tracy met Nikolas at Metro Court and told him a handgun was missing from the Q mansion. Scott appeared and said he was in the Bahamas with Serena (and that Luke was off somewhere diving). Tracy and Nik realized Scott didn't know Logan was dead, so Nik coldly told him. Scott called downtown to demand all resources put into the murder investigation, then started hurling accusations. Scott vowed to make his son's killer pay. Tracy lamented that Luke was nowhere to be found. In Sonny's study, Andre Karpov told Sonny he was upset by last night's Zacchara incident, but Sonny noted Karpov doesn't pay enough to question Sonny's associations. He then suggested Anthony won't be a problem much longer, because Johnny is going to get himself killed, and Anthony will go mad. Karpov asked Sonny for an introduction to Jason, but when Sonny balked Karpov withdrew the request. After showing Karpov out, Max questioned Sonny's actions. "There are faster ways to commit suicide than waving a red flag in front of Jason," he noted. Sonny bristled at Max's insinuation of disloyalty — he's merely protecting Jason from Karpov's encroachment. Later, Diane stopped by to share her suspicions that Sonny is cheating on Kate with Sasha. Max revealed that Sasha works for Karpov. Diane was irate, and when Sonny reappeared she asked why he's joining forces with Jason's enemy: "Death wish much?"

Anthony apologized to Claudia for losing his temper, but called her hunger for power dangerous to John. Then her phone rang — it was Johnny. He assured her he was safe. At PCPD, Jason told Carly that Lulu killed Logan. Carly pointed out the parallels between Lulu and Laura. Then Scott arrived and caused a scene in the station, even suggesting that Lucky and Mac were in on the jailbreak. Jason made Carly promise to update him if Lulu contacted her. Lucky spotted Claudia lurking outside interrogation, so she told him she was trying to get on Jason's good side. Slipping inside, she told Jason Johnny had contacted her. In NYC, Lulu dreamed about killing Logan, so Johnny had to silence her screams. Johnny pointed out they needed food, but Lulu worried his face was all over the news. He gave her some cash from his emergency go-bag for shopping. Sal brought Lourdes to Johnny/Joe for her piano lesson. He tried to teach her "Claire du Lune," but she was more interested in mooning over him, until Lulu/Linda returned with groceries.

Maxie likewise brought groceries to the penthouse, where Spinelli was making no progress in his murder probe. He shared with her the stress of recent events — including his fear that she will be embarrassed by having slept with him. She said their night of sex "has already been forgotten." Later, Carly arrived and told Spinelli she knows everything. And she wants to prove Johnny is innocent by framing someone else.

Friday

Claudia told Jason she didn't know where Johnny was. He advised her to lay low, but Carly felt the need to make restitution for ruining her brother's life. At the penthouse, Claudia pressured Spinelli to frame Ric for Logan's murder, but the Jackal urged her to wait and watch, just as Jason would. At Metro Court, Maxie told a fuming Scott that she had a run-in with Matt and Logan the day he died. Scott blamed Maxie for breaking up Logan and Lulu. Jax interrupted and sent Scott packing. Maxie went straight to PCPD to tell Jason that Scott was on the warpath and suspects Lulu. Scott returned to the office and traded accusations with Ric. Carly answered Jax's summons to Metro Court, where he told her about Scott suspecting Lulu. Carly wanted to discuss their marriage, but he was sick of fighting with her. They ended up bickering again before he departed for a business meeting. Jax was stunned to discover that Carly had stowed away on his jet. He admitted he feels shut out because she doesn't confide in him. She disagreed (of course), but said there's more good than bad between them. She encouraged him to drink champagne and reconnect, so they kissed.

Diane offered Sonny her resignation, but he rejected it. He told her he's working with Karpov only to steer him clear of Jason. And he invoked attorney/client privilege to keep her from informing Jason, even though she pointed out that Jason might see that as an act of aggression. Sonny admitted he resents Jason helping Carly take away his kids. Later, Claudia arrived and asked if Karpov can get Johnny out of the country, but Sonny sent her packing. At PCPD, Mac was going over Jason's mile-long visitor log when Sonny arrived and offered to help get Jason released — all Jason had to do was ask for help. At the penthouse, Lucky and Nikolas asked Spinelli for help tracking down Lulu, but he professed ignorance. Meanwhile, Ric visited Claudia to ask what she would do for him if he got Johnny acquitted.

In New York, Johnny worked on completing a song Prof. Siegel was writing. When Lourdes arrived with flowers Lulu seethed with jealousy. Johnny/Joe made up a backstory and learned Lourdes' tale (Sal has been raising her since their father was killed when she was 12). Lourdes' questions almost tripped up Lulu/Linda when she tried to adapt her own backstory. Lulu got flustered and fled when she remembered fighting with Logan.

Back in Port Charles, Scott went on live TV to relate the tale of Lulu and Johnny. As the kids' (flattering) mug shots were flashed onscreen, Scott offered a $100,000 reward. Lourdes watched the report, transfixed.
