General Hospital Recaps

GH Week of July 27, 2009

Monday

At G.H., Jax turned on the television and cuddled with a recovering Carly, who admitted that her brush with death made her realize just how lucky she is. She closed her eyes just as Jax looked up and saw Michael's mug shot on the news. They made plans to steer clear from all the drama and focus on a stress free life together when she gets out of the hospital. Johnny stopped by and informed Jax that Claudia's baby isn't going to make it. Jax relayed the news to a stunned Carly, who acknowledged what a tragedy it is and vowed to Jax that she'd take care of herself so they don't have to go through anything like it. Jax stepped out and Kelly informed him that Carly can't know about Michael's involvement because her blood pressure is already dangerously high and she could have a stroke if she's agitated anymore.

Meanwhile, an emotional Claudia admitted to Sonny that being pregnant has changed her and she was in love with the idea of raising their child. He held her hand and they watched the monitor as the fetus's heartbeat slowed. Sonny admitted he doesn't know to help Claudia; she advised him to go to the chapel. Claudia cried and wondered if it's punishment for all the terrible things she's done to others in the past. Johnny came by. Claudia told him the baby is gone and asked him to find the person who is responsible for killing her son. "I need to know he's going to pay," she declared.

At the police station, Robin bailed Michael out of jail. Jason assured her he's not going to take Michael out of the country and that he could still be innocent. She compared Jason's past after his own accident with Michael's current situation. Michael gathered his belongings and Jason took him home. Later, Michael admitted his behavior was out of control and took the blame for hurting Claudia. Jason urged him to cut himself some slack and follow his lead on how to handle the situation.

Sam tried to comfort a distraught and depressed Kristina, who was still reeling from her fight with he boyfriend. Sam encouraged her little sister to face the bad things and tried to get to the bottom of her anger toward Alexis. She tried to tell the teen that being a rebel isn't what it's cracked up to be and that there's nothing worse than getting caught up in a web of lies. Alexis came home and informed them that Michael might go to prison because he fled the scene of the crime. Kristina demanded that her mom help him. "You're the DA!" she cried and ran out. Sam explained to Alexis that Kristina was also emotional and on the road when the accident happened, adding that she could be the one who caused it, not Michael.

Back at G.H., Kelly explained to Claudia that the surgery she had didn't harm the baby, but that the pressure from her seat belt during the crash did. Elizabeth gave her condolences to Claudia, pointing out that she's had two miscarriages and knows what it's like. Claudia refused to be pitied. In the waiting room, Jax informed Jason that Claudia lost her baby. Carly's monitors started beeping and her blood pressure spiked again. She panicked when she saw Michael on the news and said she needs to make things right, adding that she can't believe the police are blaming innocent Michael for the accident. "The car I saw run Claudia off the road was not Michael's!" she explained.

Sonny went to the chapel and said a prayer for his son. "Make me remember what I did and didn't do," he added. Johnny approached and informed him that he knows Michael caused the accident. He explained that Jason called Jax with the news. Sonny felt immediately responsible, adding that Carly warned him not to buy Michael a car and the kid shouldn't have been behind the wheel at all. "I need to deal with this now!" he said.

Johnny returned to Claudia's room, told her that Sonny knows the baby's gone and said that her anger will only numb the pain she's feeling. Then they shared a tender moment as Johnny told her that she would have been a great mother. Meanwhile, Sonny went to see Michael and demanded that his son explain what happened. Michael admitted that he did run Claudia off the road and drove away but didn't know it was her. Sonny called him an irresponsible coward for not stopping to check if everyone was okay. Then he broke the news that the baby didn't make it and that Michael is responsible for killing his own brother. Michael was stunned; Kristina spied their conversation from the door.

Tuesday

Alexis wasn't interested in hearing Sam's theory about how Kristina could have caused Claudia's accident. Alexis apologized for being short with Sam but she didn't want to believe that Kristina could actually be the guilty party.

As Kristina eavesdropped, Michael vented to Sonny about causing Claudia's accident and claimed responsibility for killing his baby brother. Sonny pulled his son into hug and apologized to Michael for biting his head off, and for buying him that sports car in the first place. Sonny insisted that he'd take care of the situation. Michael told his father that he doesn't have to protect him. Just then, Edward entered and ordered Sonny to get out. Sonny acknowledged Edward's request and left the mansion. Edward told Michael to eat something and get some rest. After Edward left, Kristina emerged and told Michael that Alexis may have caused the crash. Michael, however, remained convinced that he was guilty. Michael stated that he must pay for what he has done, so the young man decided to run away and was determined to take care of himself. Kristina wanted to go on the road with Michael and wasn't taking no for an answer.

At G.H., Johnny visited Claudia, who was devastated about losing her baby. She asked Johnny to find out who ran her off the road. Claudia was stunned when Johnny stated that Michael was the guilty party. Claudia was not sympathetic. Johnny advised his sister to move forward but she wasn't having any of it. Claudia took her anger out on Johnny, then kicked him out of her room.

Carly told Jax and Jason that Michael was not responsible for Claudia's accident. Carly swore that she was not covering to keep Michael safe. Carly said the car she saw was small and white. Mac arrived to talk to Carly and was skeptical about Carly's claims that it wasn't Michael who caused the crash. When Mac mentioned that Alexis was in the vicinity, Carly freaked and chastised Mac for taking Michael's confession verbatim.

Jason was convinced after speaking to Carly that Michael was innocent. Sonny bumped into Jason at the hospital. Sonny mentioned Michael's confession but Jason stated that Carly saw a different car at the accident site. Alexis came to Carly's room and stated that she'd talked to a judge regarding Michael. Carly told Alexis that Michael was innocent and accused the attorney of running Claudia off the road. Alexis maintained her innocence. Jax entered and Carly accused Alexis of causing the accident and framing Michael. Alexis left and Jax vowed to get to the bottom of things.

Olivia ran into Dominic at Kelly's. They pretended not to know each other. Later, Johnny went to Olivia's, where he unloaded about Claudia losing the baby. Johnny confessed about his role in Michael's shooting. Olivia countered by saying she had known about his and Claudia's involvement for months. She admitted to seeing one of Jerry's DVDs incriminating Claudia. Johnny was concerned about what would happen to Claudia now that the baby was gone.

Sam went to see Jason and they compared notes on the accident. Sam shared her suspicions about Kristina. Jason and Sam agreed that they needed to take care of Michael and Kristina.

Sonny visited Claudia to discuss Michael's culpability. Sonny mentioned Carly's theory that it wasn't Michael who caused the accident. Sonny asked Claudia what she remembered about the accident.

Wednesday

Jason was irked that Spinelli arrived late to help him figure out how to get Michael off the hook. Jason shared his suspicions about Kristina's culpability in Claudia's accident with Spinelli. Jason then went out and Diane arrived to discuss Michael's case. Spinelli sought Diane's advice about Maxie. He shared that while Maxie took the ring he offered, she did not say yes. Diane pointed out the obvious, that Maxie wasn't ready to get married. Spinelli then got an inspiration and ran out.

As Morgan waited for Carly's release from the hospital, he read an e-mail from Michael, explaining that his older brother ran away. Morgan kept mum when Carly and Jax came home, stating that the guys were ready to take care of Carly and the baby. Carly told Morgan not to worry about Michael — she said she saw the accident and insisted that the car was not Michael's. When Carly went to call Michael, Morgan said she can't. Morgan managed to divert Carly's suspicions and suggested she call Michael later. After Jax took Carly upstairs, Jason showed up and Morgan spilled the beans about Michael to him. Morgan showed Jason Michael's e-mail. Jason said that, like Carly, he also believed Michael was innocent.

At the lake house, Alexis told Sam not to grill Kristina about Claudia's accident because Michael already confessed. Sam was skeptical about Kristina's whereabouts during the crash but Alexis refused to entertain the idea that Krissy could be guilty. As she and Sam argued, Molly entered and mentioned that Kristina hadn't slept in her bed last night.

In the stables, Nikolas had a hard time removing his shirt. Elizabeth arrived and helped him take it off. She mentioned that Alfred called and said that Nik went riding and kept going after suffering a fall. Nik lamented that Rebecca moved out after only 24 hours with him. Liz got some antiseptic and treated Nikolas's cuts. Nik couldn't figure out why Rebecca would want to live at the Quartermaines. Liz and Nik then shared an awkward moment.

At the Qs, Tracy bellowed that Michael was nothing but trouble and a screw-up like his father, AJ. Just then, Edward stopped the bickering with the announcement that Rebecca was moving into the manse. Monica welcomed Rebecca with open arms but Tracy was suspicious. Nikolas came to the mansion and Edward warned Nik that Rebecca was quite happy with them and was not going to move back to, "that rock pile in the harbor." Edward pointed out
that Rebecca was better off without him.

When Ethan tried to give Rebecca $500, she was immediately suspicious. Ethan accused Rebecca of using Nikolas, and confessed that he had feelings for her. It was not what Rebecca wanted to hear.

Liz called Lucky to the hospital, where she filled him in about Nikolas's plight with Rebecca. Liz insisted that Edward was blackmailing Rebecca with something. Liz and Lucky couldn't agree on how to handle the Rebecca situation. Lucky pointed out that Liz was getting awfully worked up about it.

Lulu bumped into Maxie at the PCPD. Lulu wanted to know if Maxie made a decision yet about Spinelli's proposal. Maxie was worried about Mac's reaction, as she stared at the beautiful engagement ring. Lulu told Maxie that she can't lead Spinelli on but Maxie was torn. Lulu said Maxie should give back the ring.

Jason called Sam and told her that Michael ran away. She revealed that Kristina was missing, too. Alexis wanted to call the police but Sam advised her not to involve the cops. As Alexis went to talk to Mac, Sam packed a bag, as did Jason. Spinelli located video camera footage of Michael's car but Jason noted that it was not Michael's license plate number. Meanwhile, Edward and Rebecca were pulled over by the police in the Bentley. When Edward protested, the cop pulled his gun on them. Edward and Rebecca were thrown in jail — and Nikolas came to bail them out.

Alexis rushed to Jax and Carly's, and mentioned that Michael split town and took Kristina with him.... Maxie wanted to tell Mac about the proposal but couldn't. Just then, Spinelli showed up in a suit to talk to Mac.

Thursday

In jail, Edward and Rebecca were surprised when Nikolas showed up to bail them out. Edward blustered about organized crime, then accused Nikolas of being behind his imprisonment. Lucky arrived to report that he'd called Tracy, who responded, "Oh, goody. Let them rot." Edward expressed his disgust with Tracy for selling him out, but Nikolas informed Rebecca that this was a perfect example of how the Qs operate. Just then, Lucky released them, stating that Michael had switched license plates and was now a fugitive from justice.

Sam and Jason had car trouble on their way to find Michael and Kristina. Sam checked out the engine and discovered that Spinelli had attached an air-cleaning device to the engine. They were not pleased.

Michael and Kristina sought refuge at a closed diner while on the run. There, Kristina prepared a meal for them, and they discussed her relationship with Sonny. They discussed their plans to head south of the border. Michael and Kristina bonded over their plight.

At the Jacks residence, Carly blamed Alexis for Claudia's accident and accused her of blaming Michael. Alexis was silent as Carly ranted. Eventually, Alexis had enough and told Jax to call her when Carly came to her senses. After Alexis stormed out, Carly yelled at Jax for not supporting her.

At G.H., Sonny caught Claudia trying to check herself out. Claudia questioned why Sonny was sticking around. Sonny asked Claudia not to leap to judgment about Michael. Just then, Alexis entered and informed them that Michael and Kristina were on the run.

At the PCPD, a well-dressed Spinelli approached Mac to talk. However, Mac was busy and responded that whatever the matter was, "The answer is no." When Spinelli mentioned Maxie, Mac stopped in his tracks. After watching the exchange from the other room with Lulu, Maxie burst in and interrupted. Maxie concocted a story to get Mac onto a different subject. Then, Spinelli's phone rang. It was Jason, who was asking about the "hybrid thing" he'd installed. Spinelli tried to talk them through dismantling the object, but Mac kept staring at him. Afterward, Lulu suggested to a love struck Spinelli that Mac might say no. Spinelli decided to approach Mac at another, less stressful time.

On the Q patio, Tracy berated Alice for not having her martini ready. Alice sassed Tracy right back. Then, Edward arrived and took Tracy's martini. Edward stated that Tracy was just bitter over Luke's absence. Then, Rebecca walked in and thanked Tracy for not helping them, as it made her and Edward closer. As the Q's bickered, Nik asked Rebecca on a date; she readily accepted.

Sonny went to see Carly. She questioned his motivations regarding bringing Michael home. Sonny shared about his last, bitter exchange with Michael and blamed himself for Michael's disappearance. He feared the worst about his lost children.

Diane showed up at the PCPD with a court order to inspect Alexis's vehicles. When Alexis found out and discovered that Diane and Jax were involved, she was hurt and upset.

Still stuck by the side of the road, Sam's prowess with the engine impressed Jason. Later, Jason and Sam showed up at the diner where Michael and Kristina were.

Claudia placed a call to Uncle Rudy, and then someone else. She announced the baby was, "No more," and wanted revenge. The person Claudia called was Jerry Jacks. "Bring him to me," she demanded.

The police inspection proved that one of Alexis's cars ran Claudia off the road. Upon hearing that news, Alexis confessed.

Friday

At the diner, a cop arrived and told Jason and Sam that they were under arrest. When Jason told the cop he had a licensed gun, the cop ordered them against the wall. Once the cop discovered who he was dealing with, he called them a real-life Bonnie and Clyde. As the duo was being detained, the cop found a necklace that belonged to Kristina, but Sam kept mum. Since there were no outstanding warrants on them, the cop was forced to let Jason and Sam go.

From her hospital bed, Claudia called Jerry and ordered him to bring Michael to her. Johnny overheard Claudia's side of the conversation and entered the room. Claudia hung up and lied that she was speaking to one of Uncle Rudy's men. Johnny was suspicious. Claudia told Johnny that Sonny was sorry that they lost the baby and that they've bonded over the tragedy. Johnny was skeptical.

At PCPD, Alexis confessed to causing Claudia's accident. Jax told Alexis to stop. Jax told Mac and Lucky that Alexis would never frame Michael. Jax then took Alexis aside and asked whom she was covering for. Alexis replied, "Sometimes we do things that we don't expect." Diane arrived to talk to Alexis. Alone, Diane asked Alexis if she did it. "I didn't," Alexis blurted. "Kristina did." Alexis vowed to cover for Kristina and Diane pointed out that if she does, she could be charged in Brianna Hughes's murder, as well.

Carly told Sonny that she believes Alexis was responsible for Claudia's accident. As they argued, Jax called and told her about Alexis's confession. After she shared the news, Carly told Sonny she was sorry for his loss. Just then, Olivia entered and dropped some paperwork. When Sonny helped her pick it up, Carly stared with a strange smirk. After Sonny left, Carly told Olivia that it's obvious she's still hooked on Sonny. Carly warned Olivia that the feeling was mutual, and that Sonny would be coming after her.

In the car, Michael tried using a GPS system to get to Mexico. Kristina suggested they just keep going until they get somewhere. A cop stopped the kids and asked for Michael's license. Kristina started crying and begged the cop not to call them in — as they were on their way to get her an abortion. Krissy told the cop that she needs to go home and talk to a counselor. The cop allowed them to leave and wished them luck.

Dominic stopped in at Jake's and had a conversation about "protection" with Coleman. When Coleman mentioned that he'd been having some break-ins, Dom said he'd take care of it. When Lulu came in and asked Coleman to have another karaoke night, Dom eavesdropped on her conversation. After Coleman stepped out, a barfly approached Lulu as Dom watched. Dom scared off the brute and started quizzing Lulu about what she discussed with Coleman. Dom bought her a beer and challenged her to a game of pool. As Dominic flirted with Lulu, Ethan interrupted and told Dom to back off. Ethan then called Lucky and informed him that Dominic was hitting on Lulu. The brothers went after Dom and the three men had themselves a good old-fashioned bar brawl.

Jerry chatted up a woman to trace Michael's car. His charm worked. The woman tracked Michael's traffic stop and Jerry headed off in hot pursuit.

Sonny went to see Claudia and told her that Michael was innocent and Alexis confessed. Claudia was stunned. Claudia was furious that Sonny maintained some sympathy for Alexis. Sonny just stated that he was relieved Michael wasn't involved.

Jax went home to Carly. They discussed Alexis's confession and when Jax asked Carly whom she'd ever confess to a crime to protect, Carly responded her kids, and realized that Kristina was the culprit…. Michael ditched the car and the kids bought bus tickets to Mexico…. Sonny showed up at Olivia's door demanding to talk to her. Sonny confessed he had feelings for Liv. "You matter," he sighed. "And I can't let you go."
