GH Week of June 9, 2008

Monday

Nikolas praised Nadine's quirky, caring persona and asked her to consult with him on opening a clinic for the uninsured. She was all for it, but turned down his $5,000-per week salary offer so she wouldn't be beholden to him; she preferred volunteering. Then she dragged him to the mainland to show him the perfect storefront where, in the time-honored soap tradition, Nadine managed to fall on top him and they giggled. Then they got arrested for trespassing...and solicitation, since she was on top of him.

Claudia warned Johnny that Lulu is a crazy broad with a "big fat mouth," and he should dump her. Johnny defended Lulu — who did a good job of defending herself. Claudia said she has no romantic designs on Nik. Lulu told Claudia to go back to Italy, but Johnny said she should stay, and insisted the women both learn to co-exist. Alone, Johnny fiercely defended Claudia; Lulu admitted she's doing the same when it comes to Nik. Claudia went to Maxie and offered her $10,000 to sleep with Johnny and another $10,000 to let Lulu catch them.

Sonny wondered if Jason was reluctant to run Mike's bookie out of town because he was trying to flaunt his new power. Jason said he will help, but Mike needs to stop getting into trouble. Sonny demanded that Jason protect anyone Sonny loves. Jason said either Sonny walks away totally, or he simply take the organization back. Sonny said he doesn't want that, just protection for his loved ones. After Sonny left Jason ordered Sullivan run out of town. Lucky arrived to acknowledge how he, Jason and Liz all want Jake to have a safe, happy life. Lucky promised never to dishonor Jason's "sacrifice," and they shook on it. Later, Jason told a beat-up Mike that Sullivan is gone. Mike admitted he welshed on his bet; Jason warned him he can't be protected again. Mike vowed to change and advised Jason to learn from Sonny's mistakes: Don't put innocent people in the line of fire. As Jason left, he ran into Lucky carrying Jake, as he and Liz took the kids to dinner. Jason and Liz shared a meaningful stare.

Elsewhere, Leyla thanked Spinelli for escorting her to the wedding, where she called him "an odd duck." Leyla's mother was disappointed she didn't bring "that nice Persian doctor," Leo Julian. Spinelli said Dr. Julian was called into surgery, and sang the doc's praises, making it sound like Leo was devoted to Leyla. Leyla freaked that Spinelli set her mother up to expect an engagement any day now. Leyla admitted she misled her mother about her relationship with Leo, because her mother is pressuring her to marry and have children. But she was touched by Spinelli's devotion, so they danced.

Maxie got Kate a new PDA to replace the one she broke. Sonny arrived and pulled Kate into a kiss. Kate sent Maxie home so they could talk, but Sonny just wanted to make out. He did, however, admit he hears Michael's voice saying, "I love you, Dad," in his head. Meanwhile, Mac told Carly that the police have closed the case of Michael's shooting after determining that Ian worked alone. Carly tried to get Mac to say Sonny could have saved Michael, but Mac wouldn't do it. He said he was traumatized by Georgie's death, but tries to think about how she lived instead of how she died. Sonny told Kate that he wants to go legit, but asked her if she would stay with him if he went back to the life.

Tuesday

Claudia and Maxie negotiated about breaking up Lulu and Johnny until the happy couple themselves appeared. Claudia hid behind some clothing while Maxie tried to get rid of them. She flirted with Johnny and allowed Claudia to flee. Claudia next bought Jax's old place for her and Johnny to live in. Johnny liked the place, and asked Claudia to respect Lulu. Back at Crimson, Maxie was dissing Lulu when Johnny called from his new place — which was right across the street, with a perfect view of the magazine offices. Lulu expressed disappointment that he was living with his sister. "Claudia and I need each other," he whined. Meanwhile, Maxie agreed to Claudia's terms.

Alexis asked Jax to convince Sonny to give up Kristina. Carly arrived and told Jax that Michael's case is closed. She was chilly toward Alexis, and Jax asked Carly to appeal to Sonny to give up Kristina. Carly insisted that Sonny isn't altruistic — he gave up Morgan as a business deal. Alexis offered to beg her: "I'll get down on my knees if you want me to." When Carly refused, Alexis warned her that Sonny will try to get Morgan back, and stormed out. Jax asked Carly to intercede as a favor from one mother to another, so Carly agreed to try. Meanwhile, Sonny was telling Kate that he might want to take back what was his. She said Sonny can still be powerful and respected in a legit business, and urged him to build the coffee company into a success. After he left, Alexis arrived and appealed to Kate to intercede with Sonny. Kate flat-out refused, insisting Sonny is a new man. Alexis warned her that Sonny will get back together with Carly. Back at home, Diane delivered Sonny's copies of the legal papers surrendering his parental rights — which he shredded. She warned that if he wants to go back on the deal he'll need a new attorney because, among other things, she thinks he made the correct decision. She praised Jason's work as boss. Meanwhile, Kate told Jax what Alexis told her about Sonny wanting to get back with Carly, and asked him how they can work together to prevent that. At that moment, Carly visited Sonny and accused him of forcing Jason to buy the boys' freedom by taking over a business Sonny no longer wanted. He insisted he's a good father, but Carly lamented that she loved him so much that she put her sons at risk. Sonny blasted her for forcing Jason to back her power play. They sniped over who was at fault for the limo tryst, with her pointing out that his "love" for Kate didn't stop him from having sex with her.

At Leyla's wedding party, Spinelli got carried away dancing with Leyla and bumped a bridesmaid, who called him a disaster, and teased Leyla because her mother was boasting about Leyla's engagement to a Persian doctor. Leyla vowed to tell her mother the truth, but chickened out. As the reception broke up, a boorish white guy (of course), called Leyla "a good-looking terrorist," so Spinelli punched him out.

At PCPD, Mayor Floyd blasted Mac for headlines about organized crime taking over. He demanded Mac make some high-profile arrests — just as a cop brought in Nikolas and Nadine. Floyd flipped and called him an idiot for arresting the town's biggest taxpayer. Then another cop brought in Spinelli. Leyla said Spinelli was defending her from a racist. Alexis arrived and ordered everyone released. Floyd apologized to Nadine and Nik, who set off to build their clinic. Leyla called Spinelli "my hero" and kissed him on the cheek.

Carly asked Sonny to give up Kristina, but he refused. "What if Kate asked you to?" Carly challenged. He said Kate thinks he's a good father. Carly accused him of secretly agreeing that she did the right thing with Morgan. Deep down, he isn't the man he is with Kate, she challenged. "You're the man you are with me."

Wednesday

Diane and Max smooched at the office, confident that Jason respects their private lives. On cue, he walked in and told them to keep the personal stuff out of his office. Diane then sang Jason's praises as boss and lamented losing him — because she predicted that Sonny will want to return to power, since he is "addicted" to it. In the outer coffeehouse, the Wedding Racist showed up and continued to needle Spinelli by calling Leyla a terrorist, goading Spinelli into taking another swing at him. The Wedding Racist easily evaded the blow and pinned Spinelli, but Max and Milo drew their guns on him. Diane pointed out that the use of deadly force to protect an asset like Spinelli would be defensible in court. The Wedding Racist begged for his life, so Spinelli extracted apologies for himself and Leyla, as well as all the cash in the man's wallet — which Spinelli asked Diane to donate to the Red Cross. Later, Spinelli went to see Jax at Metro Court, seeking advice on becoming smooth, charming and debonair. Jax agreed to help, but warned the Jackal: "Love is a gamble."

At the nurses' station, Robin was obsessing over her blog when Curtis (the father of Rebecca, who is HIV-positive Stacy's baby from NIGHT SHIFT) arrived, looking to collect an insurance settlement. He advised HIV-positive Robin to set up a trust fund for her baby. Later, Elizabeth found Robin sobbing in the locker room. Robin noted that HIV "doesn't really cause any problems when you're pregnant," but she wondered what would happen if she dies. Liz advised her not to dwell on horrible thoughts, but to concentrate on the good things. Robin resolved to draw up a will and designate a guardian for her baby, but she doesn't expect it to be Patrick. Still later, Liz told Patrick that lots of parents wish they could be with their kids but can't (such as, um...soldiers), and Patrick is blowing his chance to raise his child with the woman he loves because he's a 'fraidy cat. Patrick said Robin won't let him get close.

Carly told Jax that talking to Sonny was a waste of time because Sonny is so selfish he thinks there's no more danger for Kristina. Meanwhile, Sonny told Kate, "You don't have to worry about me ever going back to the business," because he wants a new life. He realized his life with Carly was about anger, frustration and chaos — but that's over now.

At The Haunted Star, Sam showed Lucky a mysterious e-mail from a "Dr. vonSchemerman," which Lucky recognized as one of Luke's aliases. Tracy suddenly appeared, asking if they'd heard from Luke — whom she left in a penniless drunken stupor 10 days ago. After she left, Lucky decoded the message: There are jewels hidden in the roulette game that should be brought to The Purple Papoose (his favorite haunt in Mexico). So off they went.

At Crimson, Lulu pointed out Johnny can see into Kate's office as long as the lights are on. Downstairs, Kate scolded Carly for asking Sonny to give up Kristina. Carly controlled her urge to throttle Kate even as the editrix warned Carly to stay away from Sonny. Carly needled Kate about the "lasting and deep" bond she shares with Sonny, calling Kate "weak and clingy." She added, "You will never be enough for Sonny." Kate claimed Carly doesn't know Sonny. Carly stormed off to the coffeehouse, where she ranted to Jason about her fight with Kate, inadvertently revealing that she is jealous that Sonny is determined to change his lifestyle for Kate's sake. Carly growled that she was mad enough to go have sex with Sonny — just because she can. But having sex wouldn't mean getting back together, and the past cannot be changed; only the future. Jason and Carly realized that Sonny thinks they betrayed him. Carly lamented that even though they make each other crazy, Sonny is the only one who understands her pain over losing Michael. Meanwhile, Sonny and Kate smooched and he suggested going to the island — today. She said she cannot simply vanish, because she has a magazine to launch.

Thursday

Patrick told Elizabeth that Robin won't let him get involved. Liz said he will regret not raising his kid, but Robin said Liz couldn't be more wrong. Robin insisted she's looking forward to being a single mother. "Who are you trying to convince?" he countered. Later, Liz told Robin she is still adjusting to not having Jason involved in Jake's life. Robin said she has to respect the fact that Patrick never wanted to be a father to begin with. Liz suggested he might have changed his mind. Later, Patrick visited Robin at home to ask about his role now that "everything's changed." He fears the baby will feel unloved. Patrick was sure he'd be a lousy father because Noah was a lousy father. Robin asked him to go fetch a pizza. (How's that for a role, Patrick?)

Jax took Spinelli to The Haunted Star for lessons in how to be suave, beginning with a gambling tutorial (including an accurate explanation of the rules of roulette). The first rule: If you can't afford to lose, don't play. The second rule: Always trust your instincts. They moved on to the bar, where Jax ordered a scotch and made Spinelli take a vodka rocks and showed the kid how to drink it. They moved on to difference between flirting and romance. "If you wear your heart on your sleeve its going to get crushed," he advised. "Love is a game." Act like it doesn't matter. Moving to Metro Court, Jax ordered the Jackal a suit — because women like a sharp-dressed man. (Jeez, where was Jax during my formative years?)

Nadine visited Nikolas, who was discussing renovations for his clinic with his architect, who noted the permits are being rushed through. Leyla arrived to look over the dump and sing Nadine's praises. Outside, Nik ran into Claudia and told her about the clinic. She offered to contribute, but Nik declined. Inside, Leyla told Nadine that Nik must be sleeping with Claudia, but Nadine was skeptical. Later, Nadine just blurted it out: "Are you sleeping with Claudia Zacchara?"

At their new crib, Claudia was needling Johnny about Lulu when Anthony and Logan arrived. Anthony chided them for leasing a place, and insisted they move back into the house after it is rebuilt. After he left, Johnny vowed never to go back there, and Claudia mused that Daddy might not even be alive by the time the house is rebuilt.

Maxie, Lulu and Kate were brainstorming cover subjects at the Crimson offices when Giselle strolled in and rightly ridiculed Kate for letting her assistants call the shots. Giselle sniffed at the offices and insisted on going over the content for the promo. Kate dispatched Maxie to fetch Jax. She found him downstairs and told him there was an emergency. Giselle said Maxie should teach Lulu how to dress. At that moment, Anthony and Logan stopped by for a visit. A horrified Giselle recognized the name "Zacchara." Anthony mentioned Kate's boyfriend, Sonny, then issued Lulu a veiled threat. Giselle wondered if mob money was behind Crimson, and wondered where Jax was. On cue, he arrived and charmed Giselle, inviting her to the Star to gamble. After they left, Lulu ran off to find Johnny, but found Claudia instead, who warned her that Anthony is using Lulu to manipulate Johnny, so steer clear. Lulu warned Claudia to steer clear of Nikolas. Back at Crimson, Johnny was looking for Lulu, but found a flirty Maxie instead. Back in the Metro Court lobby, Giselle was impressed to bump into the new-look Spinelli — er, "Damien," who kissed her hand.

In Mexico, Sam and Lucky arrived at the Purple Papoose, where Sam ordered two tequilas. A local insisted she go for a motorcycle ride, so Lucky punched him out. Sam broke up the ensuing brawl with a gunshot (with her eyes clenched shut — how cute!). The bartender guessed they were looking for "Luka Spencer," and passed along some numbers Luke had given him. Sam enjoyed bonding with Lucky and they smooched. Then a woman at the bar turned around and said to Sam, "Hey, Cindy, who's your friend?"

Patrick returned with a pizza and found Robin passed out on the floor.

Friday

Jax, Kate, Giselle and Spinelli arrived The Haunted Star, where Spinelli used his new "Damien" persona (and faux-Aussie accent) to charm Giselle. He even introduced her to Johnny. Tracy told Ric that with Luke out of town, she is running the Star, but Ric insisted the Zaccharas are. Leyla and Jerry came aboard, and Diane ran into Max. Johnny told Ric that Anthony wants Claudia's name off the deed. When Claudia arrived, she was nervous when she spotted Jerry. Diane got urgent messages and left. Tracy told Lulu she's disappointed that she's with Johnny. When Maxie showed up, Mr. Suave Damien went to pieces, reverting to the usual babbling, clumsy Spinelli. On the pier, Jerry told Claudia he has given a letter to his attorney that documents Claudia's role in Michael's shooting, and it will come out unless she lets him call the shots from now on. They struggled, and Jason happened to stroll by and break it up. Jerry asked if she wanted to tell Jason what was going on.

Patrick brought a revived Robin in to be checked out by Kelly. When Robin told him she and the baby were fine, they embraced. Kelly ordered Robin to bed rest. Patrick assured her, "I'm not going anywhere."

When Jason found Diane alone in his office, he asked if she had been crying. She confessed that she misses her father, who died of cancer just after she graduated from law school. "Men," she said, "and fathers in particular, are blockheads when it comes to showing emotion." She had tried to get through to her father, but he was uncomfortable talking about feelings. She wondered if other fathers understand and appreciate how lucky they are. Meanwhile, Max wanted to take Sonny fishing, but the former recognized that the bodyguard merely wanted to distract him from Father's Day. Sonny insisted he's sticking around for Kristina, even if he cannot be with his sons. When Carly got home she learned that Morgan had made a hand print as a Father's Day gift for Sonny. Carly explained that while his father loves him, they have decided to keep him safe, so Sonny won't visit him, and Morgan cannot visit his dad. Later, Jason brought Sonny with a package Michael had ordered — his Father's Day present — a box of life vests for boating. A saddened Sonny thanked Jason for bringing it. "Michael loved you," Jason said. "He thought you were the best father in the world." Lulu visited to tell Carly she misses her and feels guilty about Michael. Carly asked for help keeping Morgan from missing his father. Carly said she grew up in a father vacuum, and Lulu admitted she wished Luke had made her more of a priority. Carly feared that Lulu is going down the same road with Johnny. Later, Carly visited Sonny to say she had explained the situation to Morgan, but Sonny said Morgan will hate her for this someday. She said she was glad that he will live to be 18. Sonny gave her the life vests and told her to have Jax take boys out on the harbor. Just tell Morgan those are "a gift from his big brother."

Nadine was mortified from asking Nikolas if he was sleeping with Claudia. On cue, Claudia arrived and told Nadine that what she does with Nik is their business. While Nik took a call, Claudia told Nadine she's acting desperate, and the nurse was offended by Claudia's suggestion that Nik is out of her league. Later, Nik told Nadine he's not involved with Claudia and doesn't expect to be. Then Mayor Floyd showed up (Alone, in that crappy neighborhood?) to say the city cannot allow the clinic to open.

In Mexico, the strange woman, Sharon, said she met Cindy/Sam in Albuquerque. Sharon's man, Dennis, had been cleaned out and abandoned by "Cindy." Sam insisted she didn't know Sharon, and Lucky said he wasn't interested in Sam's past. But he was interested in how Sharon knew his name. Sharon claimed to know where Luke is, and would spill in exchange for a dance. When she squeezed his butt Sam cut in — to punch out Sharon. The crooked local police arrived and arrested Sam.
