General Hospital Recaps
GH Week of May 10, 2010
Monday
Everyone reeled from Michael's harsh sentence. Carly ran out of the courtroom weeping furiously about "that son of a bitch, Dante," and Jason reminded her Michael needs them. Jason assured Carly he'd protect Michael in jail. Inside the courtroom, Johnny railed at Dante for allowing Sonny to go free. "Bra-frickin'-vo!" he snarled. Lulu jumped to Dante's defense but Johnny kept yelling, and then stalked out. Then, Morgan confronted Dante, calling him a liar and wishing he was dead. Sonny tried to calm Morgan down, but then a tearful Kristina and Molly lashed out at Dante as well. The kids
went off to see Michael in jail and Sonny turned to Diane, wondering how fast they could pull together than appeal. "Sonny, Michael confessed," she pointed out. Sonny didn't want to hear it, he just wanted his son free. Listening intently, Claire interrupted, saying she wanted to help. At the PCPD, Mac asked Lucky to help transfer Michael to Pentonville. Carly soon showed up to see her son. When Lucky apologized to her about the situation, she assured him the blame is all on Dante. In the interrogation room, Michael was already in prison orange. Carly swore she'd do whatever it took to get him freed, and Michael insisted what he'd done was worth it to keep her and Josslyn safe.
Back at the courthouse, Lulu told a guilt-ridden Dante she loves him and he caught up with Sonny as he came out. "The truth is, we're both to blame...we did this to Michael," Dante said to Sonny. Meanwhile, Jax ordered a stiff drink at the Metro Court bar and spilled all to Skye. Skye urged him to use his influence to protect his kids and also to help Morgan get through this. Nearby, Diane told Max that Michael Is going away and beat herself up for defending a ruthless criminal like Sonny. At the PCPD, Carly and Lucky let the kids in to see their big brother. Much teary bonding occurred. Then, Lulu arrived, wanting to see Carly. Lucky didn't think that was wise. Elsewhere, Johnny called Ethan over to discuss business, and Jason visited Mad Anthony Z in the hoosegow. Anthony was mighty bummed to hear Sonny
wasn't going down for his miserable daughter’s murder. Jason then asked Anthony to put Michael under his protection...in exchange for keeping Johnny alive! "What do you think this is, a summer camp?" scoffed Anthony, before agreeing to the deal. At Johnny's, Ethan wasn't interested in helping Johnny with revenge against Sonny — just in making a buck. In court, Dante regretted not charging Sonny with the crime he'd actually committed (his shooting) and Sonny noted that all of Dante's bad moves couldn't compare to the harm he'd caused his family. Back at the station, Lucky got Michael ready to go and he exchanged heartfelt, teary goodbyes with Kristina, Molly, Morgan and Carly.
Later, Sonny came home to find Lulu waiting. Worried about Dante, she asked for his help. But Sonny wasn't sure anybody could stop Jason from killing Dante. Meanwhile, at his loft, Dante stared at his gun and his badge. Jax came home to Carly's, where Morgan told him he hates him as much as he hates Dante. Molly and Kristina took up for Jax and Kristina even added that Sonny, not Dante, was at the root of their issues. As for Jason, he informed
Johnny of the deal he'd made with Anthony. Speaking of that very devil, Michael was brought into Pentonville and instantly introduced to Anthony! Back in Port Chuck, a stony Carly came to see Dante...
Tuesday
In Pentonville, Anthony offered to protect Michael, because Claudia was a disgrace to the Zacchara name after all. Michael realized Jason worked out this plan. However, Anthony warned that if something happens to Johnny, Anthony will throw Michael to the wolves. Meanwhile, Jason begged Johnny to be safe for Michael's sake. A defiant Johnny warned Jason that he's coming after Sonny's empire full-bore. Jason told Sonny about the deal he cut with Anthony making Johnny untouchable. "That's unacceptable," Sonny declared. A frustrated Jason reminded Sonny that Michael's life is on the line. Sonny asked Jason to do something for him in return: leave Dante alone. Jason called protecting Dante "ridiculous." Sonny noted that if Jason kills Dante, Sonny will kill Jason, or die trying. After a tense moment, both men realized that neither one saw Michael off to prison.
Lucky went to Jake's and told Coleman he just delivered Michael to prison. Then he ordered a scotch. Maxie rushed over and asked Lucky to think before drinking. He set aside the booze, and she challenged him to shoot pool. Elizabeth called to invite Lucky to dinner at Kelly's, but he declined. Liz was shocked to hear Maxie's voice in the background. She rushed to Jake's and accused Maxie of trying to hook Lucky on booze to get him into bed. Lucky assured her he was drinking root beer. Liz reminded him that Maxie used to be his drug supplier — and that that Maxie faked being pregnant by him. Speaking of being pregnant, he worried what Helena has planned for Liz, but she claimed not to need his help.
Lulu begged Sonny not to let Jason kill Dante. Sonny said he would talk to Jason, but the man is totally devoted to Michael and cannot be stopped. Meanwhile, at the loft, Carly handed Dante a gun — for protection from Jason. Dante apologized for "playing with Michael's life," but Carly claimed she is much more at fault than he is. She brought Sonny into Michael's life, and made violence part of his upbringing. She said Olivia was smart to keep Dante far away from Sonny. Carly promised to intervene with Jason, who will listen to her on this. Later, Lulu visited Carly and swore that Dante never intended for Michael to be jailed. Carly was shocked that Lulu is worried about her boyfriend, but covered. Carly reassured Lulu that she won't let Jason hurt Dante, because he was not really to blame. "It's all me," Carly admitted. A tearful Lulu was grateful, and Carly sent her off with a hug. Dante told Olivia he feels like "a traitor to my own family." He recounted Carly's praise for Olivia. Olivia reminded her son that the judge issued the sentence. Later, Lulu told Dante how she pleaded his case, and they kissed. He resolved to get Michael sprung. Elsewhere, Carly told Jason that she fed Dante and Lulu stories about blaming herself, and then Carly told Jason to leave Dante and Lulu alone! Carly plans to make them suffer — just like Michael is suffering. A tearful Carly related how she assured Michael he can survive prison, but cried, "Is this why he woke up from a coma? So he could just go to prison?"
Sonny found Olivia in church, praying for Michael's safety. She also worried how Carly must feel. Liv told Sonny how Carly confided to Dante that she regrets letting Sonny be in Michael's life. Sonny insisted he is actually to blame, not Dante."You said I was poison to my kids," Sonny admitted, adding, "Violence defines my life," and it's not fair to the kids. He admitted his love is a selfish love — he just wants to prove he can be a good father. But if he actually loved his kids, he would stay away from them. Meanwhile, it was lights out for Michael's first night in Pentonville.
Wednesday
Claire asked Jax to help her right her wrong, by pulling strings for her. She felt guilty for letting her ambition trump justice. At the loft, Lulu tried to get Dante to realize he acted out of pure motives. He decided to appeal to Claire, whom he found at Metro Court. She said he needs highly-placed influence, which means Jax. She scolded him for protecting his daddy instead of his brother. Lulu went to Edward, who insisted he had pulled all the strings he could. Monica pointed out that no power-brokers will help Sonny's child. Back home, she compared notes with Dante, who lamented that he "royally screwed this one up" because of his twisted daddy issues.
Patrick returned home to find Robin going through her diary from her days with Stone, reminiscing about watching him die so young. Patrick suggested going to Jake's, but she told him she would rather be alone, so he should go. Steve ran into Lisa at Jake's, and she asked why he is unattached. Steve told Lisa he got involved with a pharmaceutical rep at his old Memphis hospital. He was even prepared to propose — but the gal and his best friend announced their engagement first. Lisa noted she doesn't play nice "when someone steals my toys." At the bar, Coleman told Patrick that Steve and Lisa have been close all night. Patrick returned home, where Robin was emotional over the final entries in her diary.
At Queen of Angels, Olivia told Sonny to pray for Michael and stop wallowing in guilt. Sonny acknowledged that he tried to walk away from his kids once before, but "it didn't take," so he has to find another way to protect them. She made him pray. Elsewhere, Jason told Carly, "Dante's gonna disappear." Carly pointed out he will be the prime suspect. And if Sonny and Jason kill each other, she loses. Instead, they should let Dante live, but dismantle him, piece by piece. And don't spare "that little bitch" Lulu. She played the mother card to get Jason to agree. Later, Carly went to Sonny's and started drinking. When Sonny returned, she poured him a drink. "We're both responsible for what happened to Michael," she sighed, noting the way they raised him was "twisted." She blamed herself. And Elizabeth, for throwing herself at Jason, sending Carly into Sonny's arms and jump-starting "that hideous cycle of disaster after disaster." He claimed that he set it all in motion by first wanting to sleep with her, then wanting a family with her. He could not deliver on his promise of a safe life for their kids. She suggested they got together because they were selfish and the sex was good. "What's dark in you reinforces what's dark in me, and it makes us feel normal." Sonny said, "I know that I'm the worst thing that ever happened to you." But sometimes he feels like she's the only woman in the world. She kissed him. Elsewhere, Jax admitted to Morgan that he messed up with Michael. "I forgive you," Morgan declared. Jax suggested Carly might want a divorce. Later, back at Sonny's, he and Carly lay entwined on the couch after sex. Carly noted they always turn to each other for sex: "It's our drug," she sighed. But they have to say goodbye. "You have to stay away from our son," she said. She pointed out that he already signed away his parental rights, and he realized he couldn't fight her. He thanked her for stopping Jason from going after Dante.
Jason returned to the penthouse, where Molly had made cupcakes for Sam's birthday. Jason had forgotten! Sam was understanding. Jason apologized to Molly for letting everyone believe he could protect Michael. Molly said that if things go wrong, it doesn't make you a bad person; things just happen. And no one can change the past. Later, Jason and Sam kissed, and he sighed, "I failed." He fretted that Anthony cannot control everyone at Pentonville, so Jason has to make sure Michael is safe, "Whatever it takes."
Thursday
Shirley made Helena's acquaintance at GH, not realizing she was meeting a pit viper in human form! Elizabeth walked up to referee and then Steven told Helena he'd call security if she didn't leave. Liz warned Shirley to stay away from Helena and Shirley noted she's terminal — what could Helena possibly do to her? Liz then continued to confide in Shirley. Nearby, Steve asked Nikolas to start hanging around the hospital again, pretty much to wrangle his psycho granny. Nikolas called him out on being unhappy that Nikolas is Liz's baby daddy and warned Steve he'd call him before the hospital board if he gave him more attitude. Helena praised Nikolas, who insisted he hadn't stood up for her and warned her to leave Elizabeth alone. At the Haunted Star, Luke revealed to Ethan that the hunt for Alcazar's treasure had been a bust and then Luke tried to cover in front of Tracy...which didn't really work. Tracy accused Luke of plotting to leave her for Skye. Back at GH, Elizabeth urged Nikolas to keep a "closer eye" on Grammy Hella, as she didn't have the time or the energy to deal with her. Meanwhile, Thor told Helena that Tracy was digging into the missing lab tech situation. Helena called Tracy, who said Hells was welcome to her hubby. That wasn't what Helena had planned! She had Thor chloroform Tracy, and they whisked her away!
At Carly's, she told Morgan she and Sonny made a big decision about his future: Sonny would no longer be a part of his life. When Morgan moaned that everyone was leaving him, Carly assured him that Jax isn't, and they all want him to be safe. Sonny, meanwhile, visited Luke at the Haunted Star and apologized for fingering Ethan as Kristina's abuser. He then noted he's losing his sons. They philosophized for a while, and then Ethan came in. Sonny actually apologized to Ethan, too! Gasp. Elsewhere, Jason waxed
poetic about how amazing Sam is...and she correctly surmised he was saying goodbye to her. Jason revealed he wants to get sent to Pentonville as Michael's cell mate...and Sam understood! "You are not going to lose me again," she promised. He told her he loved her, and they held each other. Then, Jason left to tell Sonny his plan and remind him to keep Johnny alive. Sonny told him about agreeing not to see Morgan anymore. Carly visited Claire, who pointed out none of this would've happened had Carly and Michael
been straight with her from the start. Carly just wanted her son out of prison. Claire said Jax was her best chance at that. Carly caught up with Jax, who noted that his people who could help were also people who wanted to put Sonny away. That could be a problem! Carly then asked Jax to adopt Morgan and give him his name. At Carly's, Sonny had a heart-to-heart with Morgan about his safety and how he shouldn't hate Dante. As for Jason, he went to Claire with his plan. "Send me to prison so I can protect Michael," he pleaded.
Diane was trying to work up strategies for Alexis' defense, but Alexis was clearly a little distracted and defeated. Michael's fate definitely didn't help her mental state. Later, she called Sam to her office and gave her over 20 years' worth of birthday cards to make up for all the ones she'd missed. Aw! Since she had to show up in court for her hearing, she asked Sam to take the girls if she was sent to jail. "I would be honored," said Sam, who hoped things would go Alexis' way, but also assured her that Jason's influence likely wouldn't be a problem. They exchanged "I love you"s and hugged, tightly. Sam was certain Alexis wouldn't go to prison and said she'd see her later. And later, Alexis learned she just got community service and a suspended sentence! But it was nothing to celebrate, she noted, as an 18-year-old boy was dead. She then called Kristina to tell her girls she was coming home and hugged Diane. Of course, moments later, Warren Bauer showed up to tell Alexis and Diane he'd be filing a wrongful death suit in civil court.
Friday
Diane and Alexis discussed Warren's civil suit, noting he'd eviscerate Kristina on the stand. Kristina heard the word "trial" and boggled...what were they talking about? Alexis and Diane were forced to 'fess up about the suit, and Kristina freaked out about how it would never end. When she bolted, Diane advised Alexis to let her process it. Kristina made a beeline to Spoon Island to tell Nikolas what was going on and he promised he'd make it stop. Then, he asked Kristina how she was doing and she opened up about how she's coping.
Sonny again tried to tell Morgan he shouldn't blame Dante for all of this, and promised he'd some day get around to taking all his kids to that Yankee game. Morgan couldn't believe that and refused to ever hang out with Dante again. Elsewhere, Jax boggled at Carly's suggestion that he adopt the boy and Dante and Lucky discussed Michael's case. In Claire's office, Jason outlined his plan, and assured her he'd thought it through. Claire warned Jason it wouldn't be easy to get him out of jail. Back at Carly's, Sonny assured Morgan he loves him and will be there if he needs him. Meanwhile, Carly assured Jax their marriage is over but wanted him to keep Morgan safe. "I still love you, Carly," he said. She loved him, too, but wanted them to give Morgan a better life not as "husband and wife, but as parents." Back at the PCPD, Judge Carroll came by. He told Dante he's a good cop but noted Lucky only "upholds the law when it suits him." The judge hoped time in prison would lead Michael to turn his life around. Alone, Lucky suggested he and Dante look into Judge Carroll's dirty laundry.
At Pentonville, Michael got grief in the exercise yard from a grumpy warden and then met some of his fellow inmates. Back in Port Chuckles, Claire said Jason could plead guilty to a Class D felony and get sent away. She hoped this would help Michael and salvage her career. Across town, Jax was still trying to wrap his head around adopting Morgan. "Once he's my son, there's no going back," he warned Carly, who made it clear she got that. "Morgan Jacks will grow up with the secure, productive life that Michael deserved," she said. Back at the station, Jason told Lucky he's going to the clink and Lulu warned Dante Jason is trying to turn Lucky against him. Jason thanked Lucky for being a good father to Jake, and Lucky promised he'd do everything he could "to make this right." After Dante and Jason got snippy, Lucky defended Jason's nobility to his partner. He and Dante were more
determined than ever to get Michael out of jail. Carly came home and told Sonny she wanted him to cut all ties and never see Morgan again. Sonny was floored, nothing he'd agreed to keep his distance. Carly swore that she wasn't trying to punish him, but she'd asked Jax to adopt Morgan. Sonny was not having it! Carly pointed out Jax has been more of a real father anyhow and added she wants to change Morgan's last name, too. "That's not gonna happen," Sonny growled, before stalking over to Jax's. Jax said he'd protect Morgan or die trying. "Believe me, that can be arranged," said Sonny menacingly. As he yelled that no one would take his son away from him, Dante walked in! Elsewhere, Carly told Jason about the adoption plan. Jason admitted that having Sonny be Michael's father had been a huge mistake. Meanwhile, Lulu visited Luke at the Haunted Star and asked if he had any dirt on Judge Carroll. Luke warned her that Sonny being Dante's father would always matter. Back at Chez Jacks, Jason told Carly he's going to Pentonville as a prisoner for "as long Michael as incarcerated, maybe longer." Then, Claire called Jason to let him know that the deal had gone through: 5 years, with eligibility for parole in two!
