General Hospital Recaps
GH Week of May 25, 2009
Monday
Today's episode was a repeat of April 7, 2008 show when Michael was rushed to the hospital with a bullet in his brain.
Tuesday
Spinelli told Lulu that Johnny had a drunken tryst with Olivia. Lulu was philosophical, since they were broken up. At the garage, Maxie was figuring out whether to sleep with Johnny when Olivia burst in, so Maxie fled. Johnny noted Maxie's dilemma, and Olivia pointed out he's being honest with Maxie about what he wants. Olivia said she has no regrets about their own night of passion, and he noted the feeling is mutual. Maxie went to G.H., where she kissed Spinelli deeply. She called it a token of gratitude that things are getting back to normal. He took it as a signal that she no longer finds Johnny attractive.
Aboard The Haunted Star, Ethan spelled it out: Holly is his mother, and she gave him away without telling his father, Robert Scorpio. Luke demanded to know why she made him think he was Ethan's dad. Holly said she was bored, and figured Ethan would grab his attention. She's come clean because she's finally come to her senses. A distraught Lulu arrived and realized he is not her brother just as he stormed out. Lulu expressed sympathy to Luke, then went after Ethan. Luke told Holly she has one hell of a son. Holly recounted how she met Ethan: She saw him tending bar at a pool and instantly recognized him. She pretended to be a stranger because she was too cowardly to tell him the truth. She gave him the photo and sent him on his way. "I'm sorry," she sobbed, and fled.
Edward was furious that Michael wanted to live with Sonny. Carly insisted he's going home with her. "Stop talking about me like I'm not in the room!" Michael screamed. Edward noted he is connected to Michael by blood, but Sonny isn't. Michael freaked out and demanded everyone leave, so Jason herded them out. Edward stalked off. Carly asked Jason to talk to the boy. Michael wondered why he cannot control his emotional responses. Jason said his impulse control is jammed up, just like his. Jason hated everyone and everything when he woke up after his accident. Jason said it could be temporary, but warned his life could be different from now on. When Monica arrived, she asked Michael what he wants. Michael admitted he led Edward on. Monica apologized for not treating him better, and promised to handle Edward. Outside, Sonny told Edward he and Carly will allow the Q's to visit Michael as long as they call first. Edward blamed all of Michael's misfortunes on Sonny, and said Carly's "fatal flaw" is her weakness for Sonny. Edward threatened legal action, but Monica told everyone that Michael belongs with his parents, and dragged Edward away. Sonny worried that an unstable Michael might be dangerous around Morgan and the pregnant Carly, but she insisted he could he lash out at Sonny when he learns he's married to Claudia and also expecting. She said living with his mother is best. When they returned to his room, Michael said he wants to live with Sonny, but Carly announced he is going home with her. Michael resented that the decision was made without him.
Robin called Patrick to tell him she's been cleared to come home, but she wanted to talk first. They met at their favorite restaurant, and he accepted her explanation that treatment is complete. She apologized for putting him through hell. He said she is the center of his and Emma's world, and they are lost without her. She said it was useful to hear from other mothers in group therapy. She explained that postpartum depression affected how she saw the world. She hopes the damage she caused isn't beyond repair. He acknowledged that there were forces beyond her control, so he doesn't blame her. She encouraged him to be honest: tell her if he's pissed off, and yell if he wants to. He agreed to be totally honest. He apologized for not being more patient with her. "I think I'm ready to go home," she announced. At the house, Robin went upstairs and told Emma, "Mommy's home."
Wednesday
Robin picked up Emma and bonded with her immediately. She praised Patrick's parenting skills. "We're gonna do this together," he vowed. She recounted how she focused on Emma during her therapy. Later, she helped him finish changing Emma, and the baby cooed, "Dada." Then Robin rocked Emma, just like her own mother used to do. "It feels good to be a family again," Patrick sighed. He asked his wife to spend some time with him, but she preferred to stay with Emma.
Elizabeth and Lucky went to Wyndemere and found Rebecca wearing Emily's clothes and sitting in Emily's chair. When Nikolas returned from his ride, Rebecca went to change, and Liz accused Nik of trying to recreate Emily scenes with her double. When Lucky confronted his brother, Nik pointed out that Liz hates Rebecca and Lucky likes her. Upstairs, Rebecca told her phone contact that things are going well with Nik. Liz burst in and questioned Rebecca wearing light blue — just like Emily. Liz demanded to know why Rebecca is imitating her dead best friend's taste in clothes and make-up, but Rebecca blew her off. Liz got angry and wanted to leave with Lucky and Rebecca, but Nik said Rebecca is staying for dinner. At Metro Court, Agent Rayner responded to Alexis' summons. He flirted with her, but she pointed out that she attracts only deranged men. She asked him to investigate Rebecca — off the books.
Sonny took umbrage that Olivia slept with his brother-in-law, and cited his age. She angrily pointed out he's been with many younger women. Sonny confessed he's under a lot of stress and has been opening up to her as a friend, but then she went to Johnny for a quickie. She assured him she can still be his friend, but he wondered if they are more than "just friends." She reminded him he's married. He said he married Claudia for his own reasons. She told him not to worry about whom she sleeps with, and instead be happy about Michael waking up. At the garage, Johnny was furious over a shipment Sonny canceled. Claudia brought him a present: a (loaded) handgun! She was concerned Sonny is overprotective of "that cow," Olivia, so Johnny might need protection. Claudia worried that Michael might recall "all the times" she sat at his bedside and admitted she put him there.Jax entered Michael's room just as he awoke from dreaming of the voice of an unknown woman saying, "I'm sorry." Jax urged him not to be angry at his mother, because she could die from too much stress. "You're a big boy now," Jax told him, encouraging him to do what's right. When he left, Michael got out of bed. Lulu later found him sprawled on the floor. He insisted on getting himself up, but couldn't, so she helped him back into bed. Claudia went home to find Ric waiting, seeking another chance with her, but she was in no mood to trust him. So he threatened to tell Sonny about them. And, on cue, Sonny returned and questioned Ric's presence. Ric said he wished Michael's awakening would mark anew beginning, and left. Later, Sonny went to the garage and told Johnny he doesn't trust him. Johnny Johnny vowed he would never hurt his sister or her husband. Sonny promised to reroute his ships with a new delivery. Meanwhile, Olivia told Jax that she slept with Johnny. When Jax questioned her choice, she noted that Johnny wasn't involved in Michael's shooting, but Jax wondered about that. Later, Liv stopped by Johnny's to give him a list of trustworthy auto parts-suppliers. He asked her to take a break with him. They started dancing, but she backed him off, to make sure they don't sleep together again for the wrong reasons, then left him alone. At home, a sullen Sonny left Claudia to go upstairs alone.
Thursday
Robin was playing with Emma when Ethan dropped by to say, "I might be your brother." He told her about Holly's claim, but Robin pointed out that Robert and Holly split long before Ethan was born. Robin was surprised to learn Holly is in town, and pointed out that Robert didn't mention any son when he was on his deathbed last summer. She researched his birthday and realized that nine months before that date, Robert was involved with the corrupt Burt Ramsey, so there's no way he fathered a son. Disappointed, Ethan left. At PCPD, Alexis found Luke and Holly in handcuffs because Tracy accused Holly of stealing a sapphire necklace. When Mac arrived, Holly professed her innocence and begged to be set free to visit Robin. But Tracy pressed for deporting Holly. Tracy demanded she leave PC — without Luke. Holly admitted she sent Ethan as a test to see if she could tempt Luke away from Tracy. But she's seen the error of her ways and is willing to leave town. Later, Alexis went to The Haunted Star, where Luke confessed he wished Ethan really was his son. He cited his near-death experience for changing his perspective. And he likes the idea of kid who looks up to him instead of down on him.
At GH, Claudia thanked Patrick for taking care of her stepson, and inquired if coma patients remember what they hear. He said probably not, but there are documented cases of patients remembering. Olivia's arrival chased Claudia off. In his room, Michael asked Jason, "Who did this to me?" Jason told him: Dr. Ian Devlin. Michael had a million questions, but had to leave for physical therapy. Jason went to Sam to ask advice about dodging Michael's queries, since he can't tell him about Claudia. Sam suggested finding Fredo, and Jason resolved to extract proof about Claudia's involvement from the thug. Meanwhile, Carly prepared to bring some familiar mementos to Michael's room. Jax suggested she let him do his first therapy session alone. When she said she's not giving up on Michael, Jax urged her to give the kid space. Oh, and stop stressing out. She insisted on going to see her son alone, so Jax went to the hotel, where Olivia tattled that Claudia was grilling Patrick about Michael. Jax worried that Michael would also remember Jerry's culpability from his sickbed confessions. After Michael returned from therapy, Claudia visited. When she identified herself as his stepmom, he was confused. Claudia said Sonny broke up with Kate and married her to keep the peace. Michael wondered why his father didn't mention his new wife. She asked if he remembered Sonny talking to him at the bedside for hours. As Jason eavesdropped, Michael said he doesn't remember anything after having breakfast with Morgan on the day of the shooting. Carly asked Patrick when her son could come home. Patrick noted it's too early to tell yet, and warned her that since Michael has poor impulse control and Carly's presence fuels his anger, she should stay away. She told Jax she's going to stay away from Michael to help him get better. They apologized, and admitted they love each other.
Dejected, Ethan returned to the Star and told Luke that Robin shot down the Robert scenario. Luke pondered what that could mean. Holly visited Robin, who asked why she lied about Ethan's father. Holly said she's trying to stop something from happening — and needs Robin's help to do it.
Friday
At G.H., Patrick told Sonny that Michael's emotional outbursts are a sign of brain trauma, so everyone must dial back the pressure around the kid — and stop arguing in front of him. Sonny asked about Emma, and was happy to learn that Robin is back. Elsewhere, Jax and Carly smooched — until he put a halt to it — because he was concerned about hurting her and the baby. Later, Carly met with Kelly to ask about the safety of having sex. Kelly suggested it would be good for her, so Carly asked her to write a note. Meanwhile, Jason eavesdropped as Michael and Claudia bonded over horror movies. Michael told Jason that Claudia is totally cool. Jason dragged Claudia outside and vowed not to let her hide behind Michael when she's the one responsible for his condition. He promised to find Fredo. Sonny broke up their sniping. Michael asked Sonny why he didn't mention being married again. Sonny gave Carly all the credit for sticking by Michael and getting the operation that woke him up, so the kid should spare Carly from his anger. But Michael was still furious that Carly is having a "replacement" baby with Jax. Then Claudia blurted out that she and Sonny are pregnant. Silence. But Michael was cool with it. Claudia hoped Michael would be a good big brother to her baby. Michael asked if the fetus in her belly can hear them talking. Well, Carly sure could hear; it hurt her to see him so eager to bond with Claudia's kid. She went to Metro Court, sobbing. Jax assured her that deep down Michael knows she didn't give up on him. They started kissing again, but when Jax stopped again, she pulled out Kelly's note — complete with diagrams. So they got started obeying doctor's orders. Later, Sonny was angry that Claudia risked upsetting Michael, but admitted that he bonded with her because they had no previous history — and that might be good for Michael.
Jason teamed up with Sam to go after Fredo. She distracted Fredo while Jason got the drop on him. Fredo confessed that Claudia hired him to kill Jerry — "And I got proof!" he wailed. Maxie stopped by the Jackal & McCall PI offices with orange soda and barbecue chips for Spinelli. She invited him to Crimson to examine Kate's PDA. There was no evidence on it, but Jackal remained determined.
Robin scolded Holly for lying about her father being Ethan's dad, and wondered if she's lying about being his mom. Holly insisted she really is Ethan's mom, and suggested that she may have been trying to break up Luke's marriage so she can claim him. Then Robin wondered how she met up with Ethan. Holly explained that she was too young to take care of a baby, so she gave him up. When she learned his adoptive parents had died, she wanted to check on him. Robin pointed out that Holly's plan had turned him from a smooth operator into a scared and uncertain guy. Holly promised to leave town after making one more stop. At The Haunted Star, Ethan told Luke he wanted to leave town. Luke admitted he's tempted to drop everything and go globe-trotting with "English." Then he asked Ethan to take another DNA test, via mail. "I don't have another decade to squander," Luke sighed, noting he'd like to enjoy being Ethan's father. Lucky arrived, still furious about Holly. Luke reminded him that his dalliance with Holly wasn't a reflection on him and Laura; he was trying to lead bad guys away from his family. Also, the past is the past, and he cannot change it. Lucky stormed out, and Ethan refused to take another DNA test. "Time for me to move on," Ethan sighed. Back at Robin's place, Holly left and Patrick returned home to share the files from Michael's operation. She was concerned that Michael didn't have a follow-up EKG. But not so concerned that they couldn't spend time smooching — until Emma started crying and Robin had to tend to her. Holly showed up at the Star, where Luke demanded to know the truth. Holly said, "Yes, Ethan is your son."
