General Hospital Recaps

GH Week of November 17, 2008

Monday

Carly ripped up the divorce papers in Jax's face and threatened to contest. As Diane strolled by on her way to a shoe sale at the boutique, Carly enlisted her legal services. After demanding a hefty fee and a discount at the boutique, Diane enthusiastically took on the case, then made a beeline to the sale.

Claudia walked up as Johnny and Lulu were smooching and said that she hopes her little brother is kissing Lulu goodbye. He warned Claudia to mind her business and she asked when Johnny is "going to tell her what it really means to be a Zacchara." Lulu stood up to Claudia, which impressed Johnny, who took her to dinner.... On a phone call, Sasha boasted that public sentiment is turning against Sonny.

Maxie and Sam shared some girl talk over coffee. Maxie predicted that Sam would reunite with Jason once Elizabeth leaves him out in the cold. Lucky walked in and Sam rushed into his arms. Lucky explained to a sheepish Maxie that they only staged their breakup. Once Maxie left, a man in the hallway trailed her.

Patrick gingerly wheeled Robin and the baby out of the hospital, drawing chuckles from Elizabeth and Epiphany as he worried about the elements, the elevator getting stuck, etc. On the drive home, Patrick fretted about the security of the car seat. Robin was amused as he crept along under the speed limit. They finally arrived home safely.

A trapped Olivia banged on the office door as the coffeehouse burned. Sonny managed to pull out the barista, who told him that a woman was still stuck inside. Sonny charged in and brought Olivia out through the flames. After she was taken away on a stretcher, Jason questioned Sonny about what he was doing there. Sonny explained that he'd heard about the attacks from the Russian syndicate and that they have to strike back. "Not we," said Jason.... At the hospital, Olivia told Elizabeth about the coffeehouse bombing.

Nikolas and Nadine bumped into each other in the park. She confounded him by announcing that she'll marry him to keep him from getting deported. Nik stammered that his lawyers were working on it, but Nadine rushed off to make wedding preparations.

Back at the Metro Court, Carly and Jax spoke calmly and she said that she wants their marriage more than anything. "I need you to have faith in us and in our marriage," she pleaded. He seemed to be softening, but they were interrupted by Kate, who walked up to announce that she's broken up with Sonny and told Carly, "he's all yours." The editor noted that everyone had warned her about Sonny and Carly. Her diatribe was halted when Epiphany phoned to tell her that her cousin was admitted to the hospital for smoke inhalation. After she hurried off, Jax told Carly that he agrees with Kate: She'll always end up entangled with Sonny.

Lucky left Sam to respond to the coffeehouse fire. He questioned Sonny, who claimed that he was just walking by and didn't know anything about who started the inferno.... Sonny headed to the hospital to see Olivia. She was just saying goodbye to Dante on the phone when Corinthos walked into her room. She explained that she went to see Jason about protection for her cousin. Sonny was insulted that she didn't come to him, but she pointed out that he doesn't have that kind of staff anymore. Kate was about to enter the room when she heard her cousin talking to Sonny.

Spinelli headed to the coffeehouse to help Jason, who sent him home to do research on Karpov. Afterward, Jason told his henchmen, "Now, we take the Russians out."... Elizabeth went to the scene of the firebomb to check on Jason.... Two goons grabbed Maxie, who screamed. As Spinelli was walking by, he spotted an unconscious Maxie and ran to her side.

Tuesday

At Metro Court, Carly and Jax dragged Marty into their argument. Afterward, Nikolas informed Carly that about his immigration problems — and Nadine's offer to marry him. Nadine entered and got jealous seeing them talking. Carly excused herself and Nik said they needed to talk. Nadine countered, stating that she knows what he was going to say: he wanted to propose to her! Before Nikolas could say anything, Jax walked over and lowered the boom that he now owns Spoon Island.

At G.H., Kate came to visit Olivia and found her flirting with Sonny. Olivia told Kate that she was way off base. Sonny replied the reason Kate's accusing Olivia is that she still has feelings for him. Sonny left to avoid an argument and Kate said Olivia needs to admit that she still has feelings for Sonny. Olivia stressed she doesn't and she stood by her choice to keep Sonny away from Dante. Kate said maybe it's time that Sonny learned the truth.

Elizabeth was relieved to learn that Jason wasn't hurt in the fire. Jason reiterated that they really need to stay apart for the safety of the kids. Just then, Lucky arrived on the scene and said to Liz, "Are you crazy?" "Do not tell me how to run my life," she shot back. Jason said that Lucky was right. Liz told Jason he needs to figure things out and left.

Spinelli was frantic when he found Maxie unconscious on the steps in the park. He called 911 but couldn't get through. He picked her up and carried her to G.H. Spinelli and Matt butted heads. Once Maxie was taken in to be examined, Leyla came over to comfort the distraught Spinelli. He admitted flashing back to Georgie's death upon finding Maxie in the same spot. Later, Matt told Spinelli that Maxie will have a bump on her head but she'll be
okay. Spinelli was relieved and allowed him to sit with her. Spinelli told Maxie that he loved her. Just then, she opened her eyes and smiled at him. He teared up and smiled back. Maxie then told Spinelli the last thing she remembered was the Russians following her. Mac interrupted and pulled Spinelli into the hall. Mac read Spinelli the riot act and blamed him for Maxie's attack. "Stay the hell away from Maxie," he ordered. Later, Maxie was crushed by Mac's actions.

At Johnny's apartment, he and Lulu made love. Afterward, the two cherished their renewed closeness. Lulu tried to allay Johnny's concerns about him becoming his father.

Ric showed up at Sonny's and ran into Claudia. They talked about her upcoming nups to Sonny. Ric told her she didn't have to go through with it but she insisted that she did. Sonny came home and stated, "Am I having a party that I wasn't aware of?" Ric advised Sonny not to take Anthony up on his offer. After Ric left, Sonny was surprised by Claudia's sudden acceptance of their union. She advised him to stop dragging his feet before he ended up dead.

Back at G.H., Lucky tried to talk Elizabeth out of being with Jason, citing the mob war. Jason went to interrogate Olivia about the fire. Kate shut him down and said that thanks to him, Sonny has no choice left but to marry Claudia to regain his power.... Sam met with Jason and offered her assistance in the mob war.... Spinelli investigated Karpov on the web, then went and took Jason's gun and left the penthouse.

Wednesday

Luke summoned Johnny to The Haunted Star and challenged him to a game of chance. While playing high card, Johnny topped Luke, allowing him to retain his financial stake in the casino. Luke said he needed new cash to re-open the place and reminded him that the Zacchara's framed him for money laundering. Johnny congratulated Luke on stealing the remaining clean money
to live off of while on the run in Mexico. Johnny agreed to bankroll him but with a five-point profit increase. Luke agreed, as long as no other Zacchara's were involved. As they toasted, Lulu busted in and told her father that there was no sense in trying to keep her and Johnny apart. The boys just chuckled and Johnny sheepishly told Lulu her name never came up, kissed her and left. Alone with her dad, Lulu told Luke that the best thing to come out of her ordeal at Shadybrook was getting Laura back.

At G.H., Sonny picked up Olivia's cell phone again and got Dante. Sonny said they needed to talk about his mother. Olivia returned, grabbed the phone and told her son not to come to P.C., as there was nothing he could do for her. She then told Sonny to stay out of her life. Sonny chuckled that Olivia's buttons were so easy to push. Kate arrived and was cold to both of them. Sonny left and Kate told Olivia it's time that Sonny contact his son. Olivia refused.

Spinelli returned to the penthouse and Jason said he shouldn't be carrying a gun. Spinelli said he's going to get revenge on whoever attacked Maxie. Jason told Spinelli it's too dangerous, and made him turn over the weapon, insisting he'd take care of it. Jason got a call and Spinelli ran out. Spinelli snuck into Sonny's house and lifted one of his guns. Max found him and was suspicious. Afterward, Spinelli went to visit Maxie and brought her a plant. He informed her that Mac was right and it was better for her if he stayed out of her life. Maxie refused to accept that. Spinelli retorted that if anything ever happened to her, it would kill him.

Sam made her way to Karpov's warehouse, where she asked Sasha for a job. Sasha mentioned that Karpov spoke highly of her. She told Sam to come back in an hour. Sam met with Lucky and filled him in. He was afraid she was getting in too deep. Meanwhile, Cody informed Jason about the activity at the warehouse. Jason said it was time to call a meeting with Sasha. He ordered Cody to keep anyone else away from the warehouse. Later, Sasha assigned Sam to oversee an arms shipment. Meanwhile, Jason and Cody readied to attack the place.

At home, a recuperating Robin was ready to take over as Emma's mom. A very tired Patrick showed up for work, as Robin was daunted by how complicated it was to put together a high chair. After Patrick kept pumping Liz for childcare advice, Epiphany politely advised him to either be a doctor or go home and be a dad. Feeling overwhelmed at home, Robin called Patrick and he left work for the day. Patrick arrived home and once he picked up Emma, she stopped crying. "I suck," sighed Robin.

Tracy showed up for a G.H. board meeting where Edward was waiting for her. Edward was determined to make Monica Chief of Staff to get her out of the house. He huffed that all her "12-step nonsense" was driving him crazy.

Back home, Max informed Sonny of Spinelli's visit. Just then, Kate arrived. She said she wanted a clean slate between them. "No more secrets," she said. "I'm fresh out," Sonny replied. "I'm not," noted Kate. "You need to know the truth ... about your son."

Outside the warehouse, Spinelli pulled a gun on two Russian thugs.
Simultaneously, Jason and his men busted in and gunfire erupted. Sam dove for cover as the bullets flew.

Thursday

At The Haunted Star, Luke told Lulu that he'll always love Laura but he's sticking by his wife, Tracy. Lulu said she wished her parents could be together but Luke gently said it wasn't going to happen. They exchanged "I love you's" and Lulu left. Luke poured himself a drink as Tracy came in. Then, Ric showed up, saying that Johnny's money would not be forthcoming, as Anthony didn't think it was a wise investment to pour money into the casino.
Luke ordered Ric to tell Anthony that The Haunted Star would open without Zacchara's interference. Luke mentioned to Ric that Anthony has bigger fish to fry with the Russians on the rampage, then Ric left. Tracy was miffed to learn that Laura didn't ask Luke to accompany her to France and she felt like she was second best. Tracy said their marriage was over.

Olivia checked herself out of the hospital before, "All hell breaks loose."

Jason and his men shot up the warehouse and split. Later, he and Sam met up with Elizabeth ad Lucky. Jason warned Liz a war had started and she should keep her distance. Jason and Lucky suggested the girls head out of town to stay safe. Lucky advised they head to a remote cabin in the woods.

At Sonny's house, when Kate mentioned Sonny's son, he assumed she meant Michael. She said he deserved to know all his children. Just then, Olivia burst into the room saying she needed to talk to her cousin. Sonny was miffed as the gals argued about him like he wasn't even in the room. Kate left. Afterward, Olivia wanted to know if Sonny dated Kate to get back at her.

Spinelli confronted the Russians with a gun. They laughed at him but when the warehouse came under attack, Johnny jumped Spinelli, grabbed the gun and fired, scaring off the goons. When Spinelli lamented that he couldn't pull the trigger, Johnny told him that's a good thing.

Lulu showed up at G.H. ad found Maxie hiding behind a couch in the waiting area. Maxie said she was checking herself out and wanted to go looking for Spinelli, as she was afraid he was going to do something dire. Later, the girls caught up with the guys and Maxie was relieved that Spinelli was okay. When Maxie found out Johnny saved him, she gave Johnny a big hug.

Nadine showed up unannounced at Wyndemere, said she had to leave then burst into tears. She was touched that she had been asked to ride a horse in her hometown parade. She felt bad for deserting Nikolas and promised she'd marry him upon her return so he could stay in the country.

At G.H., Kate went to pick up a prescription, unaware that one of the Russians was stalking her. He left when Anthony showed up. Anthony asked Kate if Sonny would be marrying Claudia. Kate said she didn't care.

Liz and Sam packed up the car and headed off to the cabin, unaware the Russians were watching them.

Sonny showed up at Anthony's to say he was accepting the deal. Anthony actually made Sonny say the words, "I will marry Claudia."

Friday

Claudia waxed nostalgic with Johnny about leaving their apartment behind.
"I'll be playing wifey soon," she noted. Johnny was furious that Claudia was
planning to go through with the sham marriage. She assured him that she was doing it for Johnny's benefit to build the family business. Johnny was
worried what Sonny might do if he were to learn that they were involved in
Michael's shooting.

Jax visited Nikolas at Wyndemere to tell him about his plans for Spoon
Island. Nik refused to lose his temper as Jax announced his plans for a
resort. Just then, Carly showed up and told the boys to stop their
bickering. Jax denied Carly's claim that he was making this personal due to
their divorce. Jax claimed victory in this round and left. Carly stuck up
for Jax with Nikolas, who said he's not about to be a punching bag. Jax
returned to rub more salt in the wound. Carly suggested a compromise but Jax
stated it was far too late for that.

After Anthony insisted that Claudia was part of the deal, Sonny told Anthony
that he was in charge and if there was any double-dealing on Ric's part, the
deal was off. Anthony assured Sonny that once he wed Claudia, he'd be
family. Anthony even said he'd let Sonny carve the Thanksgiving turkey.
"How's that for a sign of trust?" he smiled.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Alan counseled a miserable Tracy, who was still
furious with Luke. Monica asked Tracy to keep her beefs with Luke confined
to The Haunted Star and mentioned that she's the new G.H. chief of staff.
Luke showed up, drank Edward's liquor and received a massage from Alice.
After Tracy vowed to kick Luke out, Luke had Alice clear the room so he and
Tracy could chat. Tracy assured her husband she's immune from his charms. He
insisted he's not giving her up. Luke stated that Laura is past and Tracy is
his future but Tracy wasn't buying it.

At the penthouse, Jason chastised Spinelli for going after the Russians on
his own and told him that Maxie needed him just the way he is. Olivia showed
up wanting to talk about Sonny. Jason dispatched Spinelli and Olivia advised
Jason that, to solve everyone's problems, let him back into the
organization. Jason refused to talk business with her. "Make peace with
Sonny before something terrible happens," she pleaded. Just then, Ric showed
up and made the "engagement" official and said if Jason wants to stop the
nups, the time is now.

Elizabeth, Sam and the boys headed to the cabin to get away from the Russian
mob. Once there, Liz told Sam she's glad for the company, unaware that the
Russians were spying on them. Liz called Jason to let him know they were
safe. Just then, Harper showed up and arrested Jason for the attack on the
warehouse. Sam went to collect wood and heard noises coming from the
forrest. She ran back inside, locked the door and told Liz, "They're here."
Liz tried calling Jason but the phone lines were dead. "We're on our own,"
noted Sam.

Claudia and Johnny arrived at Anthony's, where he acknowledged that Sonny
accepted the arrangement. Anthony told Claudia to go see Sonny and seal the
deal. Johnny barked that he wanted no part of. He stated that Claudia was
just doing this for their dad's approval, then walked out.

Sonny went home and broke the news to Max, who thought the marriage was a
bad idea. Sonny assured his trusted bodyguard that Sonny was the one playing
and not being played. Sonny told Max that he's beginning to think Karpov was
framed and he was planning to infiltrate the Zacchara's to find out who shot
Kate.

Lulu met Johnny at Jake's, where he was drinking, but not toasting,
Claudia's upcoming wedding. Lulu told Johnny he shouldn't feel guilty about
the choices other people make.

Claudia went to Sonny's and pointed out that he has yet to ask her to marry
him. Sonny threw an engagement at her and asked if she'd marry him, as
Olivia watched in horror from the terrace.
