General Hospital Recaps

GH Week of October 13, 2008

Monday

Patrick recapped Kate's Big Baby Secret for Coleman who, being no dummy,
guessed it was about Sonny right away. "Do I have a right to keep that
secret?" Patrick mused. He also told Coleman that he has a long lost brother
but "it's a long story." Nearby, Olivia and Claudia sized each other
up and traded insults. At GH, Kate apologized to a baffled Carly and asked
her to convince Sonny not to avenge her shooting. They traded words; Carly stormed off. At the coffeehouse, Max and Diane continued to tapdance around Maximus, hoping he wouldn't realize Max is no capo. Max was ready to let his father show him how
to be a good boss.

Back at the bar, Patrick talked about Sonny and Robin's friendship (leading Coleman to fondly remember the Paradise Lounge) and wondered how keeping this secret would impact Robin. A few seats down, Claudia and Olivia continued to bicker. Coleman interrupted, cracking that he should've let them brawl and sold tickets. Patrick
toasted to his brilliance and then called Robin, saying he'd picked his best
man.

At GH, Olivia told Kate that Sonny still attracts
attention from "skanky parties," dubbing Claudia a "rank scheming bitch."
Kate noted Claudia is dangerous and Olivia cited her as an example of the
poisonous Mob environment — what she was sparing Dante.

Carly went to Casa Corinthos to talk her ex out of going after Karpov. When
Sonny got testy, Carly played the Morgan card. They went a few rounds.
Back at the bar, Olivia talked about Sonny's

Robin called Maxie over to GH to admire her engagement ring. Robin told Maxie she and Patrick were marrying on October 29 and that Maxie is her Maid of Honor. They both wished Georgie could be there and also referenced in vague terms why Robert can't make the wedding. (He's been in a coma on GH: NIGHT SHIFT.) Maxie went into wedding planner mode, citing her "bad heart"
when Robin considered not wearing shoes. Patrick's call made them
debate who Patrick's best man might be (and how eligible he was for Maxie)
and they headed to Jake's. Maxie was decidedly skeeved by the locale — and
by Patrick's choice of best man, Coleman! Robin had a much better reaction,
smiling at the sincere barkeep. Coleman offered up a toast. Maxie did her shot right away,
turning down Coleman's offer to teach her how.

"Killing Alexis seems a bit extreme," a skittish Jerry told Karpov, adding, "It's very bad manners to shoot the woman that you're sleeping
with." Too bad Karpov didn't care. Alexis, meanwhile, lectured Sonny about
trying to take out Karpov. "Go do something that's good for you," she
advised. Sonny insisted he needed to make things right. "Is revenge worth
losing Kate?" Alexis countered. "Tell Kristina I love her," he said, walking
out. Back on the docks, Jerry kept trying talk down Karpov.

At Sam's apartment, she was impressed by Lucky's command of stir fry. He namechecked
Aunt Ruby's skills in the Kelly's kitchen. Naturally, a call interrupted
their lovely evening and Sam had to go meet Karpov. She got back late, and
Lucky was still waiting. She told him she was thisclose to having the
evidence to bust Karpov and suggested to Lucky that they move in together. Back
at the DA's office, Jerry handed Alexis photos of Sam and Karpov's dealings,
raising (and diverting!) Mama Alexis suspicions. On the docks, Sonny took a
warning shot at the Russian and then jumped him, wanting to "look you in the
face when I pull the trigger."

Tuesday

Lucky and Sam made out on the dining room table while Alexis and Jerry fretted over the photos of her and Karpov. Jerry suggested Sam didn't know Karpov is evil, raising Alexis' suspicions. Jerry revealed he heard Sam was looking for work piloting ships for Karpov. Lucky asked to move in, and she agreed. He got a call from work, and went to the docks to see Claudia, asking if Johnny tried to ram another ship. Claudia lied that Johnny (who was hiding behind Lucky) was with a hooker. "Johnny is the reason my sister is crazy," Lucky snarled, and stalked off. Johnny then scolded his sister for telling Lucky a lie he would take straight to Lulu. Actually, he went straight to Sam — who told him Karpov just summoned her. Back at the docks, Claudia vowed to save him from the unworthy Lulu: He makes Lulu ill, and she makes him weak. Later, Sam skulked in the shadows as Karpov gave Jerry operational control of his smuggling operation. Mischa caught Sam snooping.

At Jason's office, Diane told Jason that Maximus, Max and Milo were out breaking heads, and Jason fretted over going to war just to impress Maximus. Diane promised Max wouldn't start a war. When Carly arrived, Jason hoped she could convince Sonny to back off Karpov. At that moment, Sonny was holding a gun to Karpov's head. As Sasha and thug Mischa drew on him, Sonny told Karpov the rule is, "no women, no children." Then Max, Milo and Maximus arrived. They convinced Sonny to release Karpov and left with Sonny. Sasha urged Karpov to leave PC, but Karpov wouldn't go. He called Sam with a job offer. Delivering Sonny home, Maximus (and Max) scolded Sonny for going it alone, without the backing of "the boss." Maximus went back to the office and praised Max, while Jason fetched drinks. Maximus worried that Jason was too independent and needs to be taken down a peg. Later, Claudia burst in on Max, but a stunned Maximus took a shine to her. Elsewhere, Alexis consulted Diane for advice about what to do about Sam. She feared her daughter was smuggling drugs for Karpov, and wondered if she should get a warrant. Diane told her to talk to Sam before arresting her. Meanwhile, Jason went to scold Sonny for going after Karpov alone, but Sonny said he had no choice — in fact, he hopes Karpov makes a move.

In Connie/Kate's hospital room, Olivia insisted the Falconeri family would freak if they found out Sonny is Dante's father. Kate insisted Sonny is a good father, but Olivia noted that Sonny gets people shot. Kate suggested it would help Sonny make a new life if he knew he had a child; he'd have another reason to live. Olivia admitted she pondered telling him, but realized he's "a dark, angry man" who cares about power more than love. "His life will never touch my son's," she vowed. Kate asked how she could keep Sonny's son a secret when Olivia once told Connie that Sonny was a good man. Olivia said Connie tried to change him as a teen, and staying with him now puts Connie's life on the line. Olivia recalled the night Connie ran away because there was no place in her dream life for Sonny. Kate suggested Olivia fears she might tell Sonny about Dante. She wondered if the bargain they made as teenagers was fair to Sonny — or to Dante. Olivia said she's confident Connie won't tell because Sonny would hate her for keeping the secret all this time. "We both know that father and son are better off if this secret stays hidden," Olivia reasoned. Carly arrived at that precise moment and said, "I love a family secret."

Wednesday

Max introduced Claudia to his father Maximus, the "living legend." She claimed to be obsessed with Max, even though they are from rival families. She started kissing Max just as Diane arrived. "Hands off, barracuda!" Diane hissed. Claudia sang the praises of sex with Max, while Diane fumed. Maximus slapped Diane's butt — and got a slap in return. Max took Diane and Maximus to the docks, where Maximus said he knew Domenica (Claudia's mother). He urged Max to get a girl who knows how to cook, not some professional broad. Maximus admitted his marriages didn't work, but each of the seven brought some measure of happiness. Then he headed for the airport. Claudia went back to Jason's office to head off a war by covering for Johnny's reckless boating. After she assured him Karpov wasn't involved in Kate's shooting, he asked about the Zaccharas.

At the pier, Sam told Karpov she was just being careful about whom she does business with. Meanwhile, Lucky went to Alexis' office and told her he chatted with Claudia about Johnny. Alexis asked about Sam, so Lucky beat a strategic retreat. Scott arrived and terminated Alexis' surveillance of Karpov, claiming it was a waste. Later, Jerry arrived to take Alexis to dinner. She lamented that she has to have her daughter arrested, then called for a warrant. Later, Sam met Lucky at the docks and told him Jerry has a PDA with vital info about Karpov's shipping business on it. Sam then called Jerry to ask if he's interested in having dinner tomorrow night.

At the coffeehouse, Jason warned Sonny he could end up dead if he keeps pushing for revenge on Karpov. Sonny dismissed Jason as "either blind or delusional." When Jason refused to team up, Sonny declared, "You're on your own." So Jason stormed out. At GH, Carly did not appear to have heard the actual "family secret" when she burst in on Olivia and Kate/Connie to say Sonny will not be talked out of going after Karpov. Kate looked at Sonny as trying to stop more violence, but Olivia likened him to a bully. Kate vowed to get through to Sonny. She pointed out Carly and Olivia have "so much in common." Over beers at Metro Court, Carly noted Olivia knows how angry Sonny gets. "Connie sees Sonny the way he wants to see himself," Olivia commented. Back at GH, Kate summoned Sonny to talk about their future. She doesn't want to be shot a third time; she wants the life they planned on. Sonny said he cannot guarantee her safety. She begged him to stay out of organized crime. "I tried; it didn't work," he moaned. She pointed out it's only been three months. She's willing to accept the risks if she knows he's sincerely out of the life. He insisted he's going to stay involved, because "that's who I am." He stalked out, leaving her sobbing. He went home to find Maximus waiting. "Pour me a drink," the boss demanded. Back at MC, Olivia called Carly more of a backseat girl than wife material. Carly revealed it was "hate at first sight" with Sonny, and showed Olivia a photo of Morgan. She explained how Michael got shot and she took Morgan away. "Nothing's more important than protecting your kid," Olivia said. Carly observed that Sonny built everything for his kids, but his anger tore it down. Olivia suggested Sonny chose Carly because it's almost like he knew he needed a mother who would keep his kids safe — even from him.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Tracy told Edward and Monica that she got a lead on Luke's location in Mexico. The Qs noted Luke faces an outstanding warrant for money-laundering, so Tracy demanded Edward quash it, but he refused. The Qs claimed Tracy was using Lulu as an excuse to rein in Luke. When Tracy threatened to tell Edward's friends he dabbles in Internet dating, he agreed to quash the charges.

Maximus reminded Sonny not to mix business and personal matters, because "I don't want to see my son get his ass shot off working for you." He revealed he figured out the ruse five minutes after walking in the door, but was impressed by Max's friends going to such lengths. "Take care of my sons," he asked. Back at the coffeehouse, a relieved Jason stripped off his suit, and Max suggested if Jason wants to retire, he'd be ready to step in as boss.

Thursday

Tracy asked the bartender if he had seen Luke. He pointed to the slob lying on the table. "Husband?" she cried. "Wife?" he mumbled. Tracy splashed ice water on her drunken husband. She furiously cleaned up all the shot glasses and threw chips at Luke's face when he asked for more tequila. She then told a distracted Luke about the events leading up to Lulu's breakdown. Not knowing the truth about Logan's murder, Tracy said she was worried because Lulu's breakdown didn't make any sense. She angrily talked some sense into Luke after telling him about the trial. Luke was disturbed when Tracy told him that Lulu thought she was talking to Laura. That was all he needed to hear — he finished his coffee, got up to get back to his daughter...and passed out cold.

Spinelli offered Jason a smoothie and tried to help him with his problems. Jason told him about Sonny's attack on Karpov. Spinelli offered to find out who shot Kate, but Jason didn't want him to get hurt again. Spinelli went over the facts with Jason. He thought Karpov was involved in the shooting due to all the evidence, including the Russian bullet. Jason couldn't believe that Karpov would wait so long to retaliate against Sonny over their differences. Spinelli believed it was revenge, plain and simple. Later, Carly arrived and asked Jason if Nikolas could be trusted. Jason replied that she didn't have to lose the hotel just to stick it to Jax. Carly happily left, but before Jason could breathe Elizabeth called and said she needed to see him.

Nikolas met with Carly to discuss Metro Court. Carly expressed her suspicion. Nikolas claimed he simply enjoyed the view from the terrace. Carly questioned why he came right to her after Jax turned him down, and asked if he stood to gain something from buying Carly's share. Nikolas said he merely liked the idea of going to work every day. He assured Carly that she wouldn't lose her power at the hotel, then left.

Anthony questioned his son about his reckless behavior as Johnny prepared his gun. Johnny put the weapon down and told his father that he knew he wasn't really paralyzed. Anthony asked if he wanted to get involved in the family business. Johnny replied, "What have I got to lose?" Anthony told his son that all his feelings of dejection were because of Lulu. He told Johnny to go have fun but not get killed.

Maxie waited impatiently in Lulu's room. When a slightly dazed Lulu walked in, Maxie tried to cheer her up with presents and snacks, but Lulu would only ask, "Have you seen Johnny?" Maxie told Lulu about the speedboat incident and Lulu said that Johnny was always doing things like that. Later, Spinelli came to visit Lulu. She flatly offered him some of the truffles Maxie brought her. Spinelli gave her some comic books.

Maxie arrived at the Zacchara residence and ran into Anthony. The sleazy mob boss irritated her and she threatened him with Jason if he didn't get Johnny. Johnny walked in and Maxie insisted that Anthony leave. She told Johnny that Lulu needed him. Johnny thought that seeing Lulu would only hurt her. He said he knew what could happen when mental illness goes untreated, referencing his father. Later, Lulu and Lainey talked as Johnny listened in. After he heard their session, he took off.

Nadine asked Elizabeth if she'd seen Nikolas. Nadine said she'd been feeling off, and then confided to Liz that things were awkward for her. After her shift was over, Nadine and Nikolas met up on Spoon Island. He told a smiling Nadine that their night together was really important to him and that it was the first time in a long time he'd felt that way. He assured her that she wasn't one of many girls and that he wanted her to be comfortable. Nadine said that her life was better with him in it, and the two shared a kiss. Their passion intensified and they were about to make love when Carly walked in and asked, "Am I interrupting?"

Spinelli and Maxie met in a state of panic and both agreed that Lulu was in trouble — she was keeping to a schedule! They decided it was time to break her out. Back at Shadybrook, Lulu went back to her room and found another threatening note.

Friday

In Mexico, Luke was accused of disturbing the peace, destruction of property and refusing to pay for drinks. That last one made Luke indignant, and he suggested Tracy bribe the federale, who left with his payoff. Tracy told Luke he's a fugitive in America, so they have to wait until the money-laundering charges are dropped. The cop came back and got another payoff. Tracy called her father, who said he was working on quashing the charges. When a different federale approached, Tracy blithely gave him money, too, but he arrested her for bribery. She accidentally copped to bribing other officers. She appealed to Luke, who declared, "This woman is a snake in my grass," and encouraged the officer to cart her away while he bought drinks for the house.

Maxie and Spinelli crept through the halls of Shadybrook disguised as a sexy doctor and her mental patient (as part of their plan to help Lulu escape). But Lulu was not eager to leave, because she believed she was blackmailing herself with notes, like one reading, "You killed Logan. You should pay." Spinelli pointed out the handwriting is different, but Lulu insisted she did it. When a real doctor approached, Spinelli tried to distract him, but his bizarre babbling convinced the doc he's insane, so the Jackal was strapped into a straitjacket and tossed in a cell.

At Wyndemere, Nikolas and Nadine started tearing each other's clothes off, but Carly interrupted. "No need to get dressed on my account," she quipped. Nadine accused Carly of coming on to Nik, then stormed out. Carly handed Nik his shirt just as Jax walked in. "No need to get dressed on my account," he echoed. Carly said Nik has been "incredibly understanding" of her woes. Jax warned her not to sell her half of Metro Court to Nik because he'll sue (he has right of first refusal). After he left, Carly lamented that her marriage was over. She decided to accept Nik's offer, since Nik was willing to fight Jax in court. She helped him button his shirt — just as Nadine returned. Nadine left, returning to GH, where she saw a syringe and had a flashback to being threatened by Jerry, but wasn't sure what she saw.

Since Jason was limping after falling off the ladder, Elizabeth examined him and taped him up. He noticed photos of Jake. Liz noted that perhaps the ankle means Jason isn't meant to be domesticated. He said he was distracted by watching her. Meanwhile, Sonny decided he had to find a way to kill Karpov before he leaves the country. Ric arrived to see if Sonny will accept Anthony's offer to take over the Zacchara crew. Ric claimed Jason "stole" the Corinthos organization, and suggested Jason wants Karpov to kill Sonny. Ric left and reported to Anthony that Sonny could go either way. Later, Sonny told Jason they have to kill Karpov. Now. And Jason must help, "or I'm gonna have to go to the Zaccharas." He added, "I can't put my family in danger anymore," and told Jason, "Return my organization to me." (He even had the paperwork ready!) Jason said joining Anthony was too dangerous. "You spit in my face," Sonny lamented. Jason warned Sonny that joining Anthony would destroy himself and everything he built, then left.

At GH, Patrick lamented accidentally decapitating a doll during Lamaze class. He suggested Robin have a C-section, but she insisted a vaginal birth would be safe, and that Kelly agrees. They briefly pondered postponing the ceremony, but agreed they want to get married. And besides, Maxie was handling all the arrangements. They chatted about names — Alissa Rose? Georgie Rose? ("That sounds like a stripper," Robin complained.)

On the waterfront, Sam agreed to meet Jerry at her place in half an hour. When Jerry arrived, she met him a bikini. He took a call (speaking French), then donned swim trunks and joined her in the hot tub. She eyed his phone, then they started making out — just as Alexis arrived.

Jason met with Karpov, who said he wants to maintain the peace no mater what Sonny does. Meanwhile, Sonny went to Anthony. "You want me to run your organization," he said. "I agree."
