General Hospital Recaps
GH Week of September 22, 2008
Monday
In Bensonhurst, Sonny bought the woman who approached him a drink. It was Olivia, Kate's cousin. It was established that they dated for "five minutes" in high school. Making a jab at her cuz, Olivia joked about changing her name to Gwyneth and was surprised that Kate would give up her pedigree to marry a gangster. "Actually, I'm retired," Sonny corrected. Sonny and Olivia reminisced about the old days, and Sonny defended Kate's choices. He stated that Kate missed her family. Sonny went on to ask Olivia to come to the wedding. Olivia reluctantly consented.
Kate visited Jason at the coffeehouse to persuade him to attend the wedding — for Sonny's sake. Jason pointed out all the tension that exists between him and Sonny. Kate stressed that Sonny wants him there, then left. Carly stopped by, admitting that she was avoiding her empty house since Jax left. She also lamented that she had no idea how to break the news to Morgan.
In her effort to get close to Jerry, Sam went ahead and kissed him. Jerry pushed Sam to take things over to a hotel in order for her to prove that she's serious but Sam turned the tables on him, citing his relationship with Alexis. Sam said she's not doing anything more with him until Jerry ends things with her mother first. Jerry said he needs to, "Consider his options" and left.
At Shadybrook, Lulu was distressed when Laura wouldn't wake up after she brought Nikolas and Lucky to see her. The boys were skeptical. Lainey entered and said she knew of no change in Laura's condition but Lulu remained adamant that her catatonic mother had been awake. Lulu recounted how she's been communicating with Laura for the past few weeks. Lainey
checked Laura's records and told the Spencers that there has been no change in Laura's condition and there was no Dr. McGuinness on the staff. Lulu started to get hysterical.
At GH, Matt rebuffed Noah's attempts to help him. Patrick also spoke out against Noah for ignoring his other son. Matt told Patrick he doesn't need his help. At the nurses' station, Patrick vented that he tried to help Matt, who rejected his aid. Robin encouraged Patrick to keep trying. Patrick couldn't get past his anger for Noah. Robin went to Matt and tried to talk some sense into him. Patrick overheard their talk. In the lounge, Anna tried
to support Noah and encouraged him not to go have a drink. Anna said she believed that he'd do the right thing. Rather than go to a bar, Noah opted to hit an AA meeting instead. Patrick visited Matt and said they don't have to like each other, but they're brothers and Patrick wasn't going to walk away from that.
At home, Kate read her diary from years ago. She read the entry about Sonny kissing Olivia back in the day, which made her jealous. Maxie entered and asked Kate why there were no Howards on the guest list. Kate explained her parents are deceased and she has no immediate family. Maxie said that explained why Kate took Sonny back. Kate noted the comment was inappropriate and Maxie apologized. At the penthouse, Maxie was sorry that Lulu couldn't
attend Sonny's wedding, then asked Spinelli to be her date. Jason entered, and Maxie asked Jason who he was taking.
At Metro Court, Carly looked over plans for the new hotel spa when Kate approached. Kate confronted Carly over the limo sex and barked, "Stay away from my husband." "He's not your husband yet," replied Carly. Kate assured Carly that she is the woman Sonny's been waiting for and left.
Lucky visited Sam, confessing how upset he was over Lulu's deteriorating condition, while Nikolas tried to assure Lulu that she's not going crazy. Lucky was scared that Lulu was going to end up like Laura. Lulu went back to Laura, and rested her head in her mother's lap.
Tuesday
At Metro Court, Jax and Carly quarreled over hotel matters. Jax suggested
they proceed with the divorce as quickly as possible to get it over with.
"How did we end up here?" Carly questioned. "I think you know the answer to
that," Jax replied. Alexis then showed up to meet with Jax. Jax asked Alexis
to represent him in the divorce but, "Please don't say I told you so." Jax
pondered aloud whether or not he should give his marriage one last shot.
At the penthouse, Jason insisted to Spinelli that he was not attending Sonny
and Kate's wedding. Spinelli wouldn't take no for an answer and secretly
measured Jason for a tux. Jason barked at Spinelli to back off.
In Bensonhurst, Olivia's brother, Vito, asked his sis what she was doing
with Sonny Corinthos the night before. Olivia explained that Gloria Cerullo called
and said Sonny wanted to meet with her. She continued to say that Sonny was
marrying their cousin Connie and he wanted her to be there. Vito was angry
that Olivia said yes. The sibs rehashed Olivia's past with Sonny and the big
blow-up that occurred between Olivia and Kate. Despite Vito's objections,
Olivia insisted she was going and told Vito that he was taking her to the
airport.
Sonny returned home and Kate demanded to know where he had been. Sonny
would only say that it was a surprise and it would be worth the wait. Kate
confided that she went to see Carly the day before and ordered her to stay away
from Sonny. The two began to kiss on the couch when the doorbell rang. It
was the Episcopalian Reverend. After discussing their past histories, Kate
realized that in the eyes of the Catholic Church, Sonny was still married to
Carly, since they never got an annulment. Kate saw this as a bad omen. The
Reverend assured Kate that as long as the divorce was legal, they could
still go through with the wedding. They proceeded to discuss the vows and
Kate stated that she would not say the word "obey." After the Reverend
left, Kate still fretted but Sonny assured her that his surprise was a good
omen and pulled her into a hug.
Maxie visited Lulu at Shadybrook with a goody bag but was unable to lift the
girl's spirits. Maxie told Lulu that she'd be safe confiding in her,
considering all they've been through. Lulu admitted that she felt like she
was losing her mind and opened up about her experience with Laura. Maxie was
so touched, she hugged Lulu, surprising both of them. Maxie tried to put a
positive spin on the issue. "Concentrate on getting better and come back to
work," she smiled before leaving. Lulu was touched by Maxie's concern.
Johnny arrived at Metro Court and asked Carly to deliver Lulu a message.
Scott saw them together and told Johnny that one day, his father will
experience the pain of losing a son, too.
Jason went to see Anthony and warned him that Mr. Z violated their truce and
he's got a shipment to move or else Jason will blow it up. Anthony just
laughed but agreed to move the shipment. After Jason left, Anthony stood up
from his wheelchair and hurled an object across the room. Later, Trevor and
Ric paid Anthony a visit. There, Anthony told the Lansings that he's sending
the shipment back to the Grand Caymans and chastised Trevor for making such
a poor decision. Anthony put Ric in charge of the operation, as a thank you
for getting Johnny cleared of the murder charges. Trevor said he'd live to
regret that decision. Anthony told Trevor that if he could split up Johnny
and Lulu, he could come back into the fold.
Maxie went to Metro Court to persuade Carly to attend Sonny and Kate's
wedding — with Jason. Carly liked the idea and asked Jason. "I'll let you
know," he replied.
As Lulu spoke about Johnny's murder to a catatonic Laura, a figure stood
eavesdropping at the door. Lulu thanked her mother for coming through for
her and she vowed not to spend her life in a chair. "I'm going to live my
life and claim everything you ever wanted for me," she stated. Lulu kissed
her mother on the forehead and left. Laura smiled.
Wednesday
Jason entered the penthouse and caught Spinelli practicing his dance moves for the upcoming wedding. Spinelli tried to get Jason to admit that even Stone Cold needs love, but Jason remained, well, stone cold. Just as Spinelli was succeeding in pushing Jason toward Elizabeth, Diane burst in with a business question. Spinelli shut her down immediately. Jason told Diane that he was not available and that the business would take care of itself. Spinelli was thrilled that Jason finally chose his personal life over work.
Olivia boarded a plane for Port Charles and ended up sitting next to a nun. There, Olivia opened up about her days in Catholic high school and she noted that, despite some obstacles, she's happy with the way her life turned out and thanked God she didn't end up with Sonny. However, Olivia went on and on about Sonny, indicating that the old flame still burns.
At Kate's, Sonny found Kate fretting about the continuing series of bad omens. The latest mishap was that Kate couldn't find a family heirloom. That prompted an emotional conversation with Sonny in which Kate said that while she doesn't regret her choice of career, she misses her family terribly and regrets that, after a big fight with Olivia, she never returned home again.
At Metro Court, Jax overheard Carly discussing her dress for the wedding. Jax couldn't believe that Carly had the nerve to attend the nups.
Lulu called Johnny and asked him to come by for a visit. Both Nikolas and Claudia told their sibs that they thought seeing each other was a bad idea. After Claudia and Johnny's disagreement, Ric entered and Claudia seductively told Ric that she could use is help. At Shadybrook, Carly visited Lulu and filled her on about her divorce from Jax. Lulu was sad for her cousin.
At G.H., Lucky asked Elizabeth for permission to take the boys away for a few days to spend time with he and Sam. Liz realized that Lucky and Sam have grown closer and was hesitant, but gave her permission. Cameron was thrilled to hear about the getaway. As Lucky left, Jason called Liz and asked her if they could meet. Later, when they caught up, Jason asked Elizabeth to join him on a trip to Italy.
At Metro Court, Jax warned Alexis that Carly was attending the wedding. Diane stormed in and Alexis said if she was representing Carly in the divorce, she didn't want to discuss the case. Diane was fuming for another reason. She learned that she and Alexis were planning on wearing the same dress to the wedding. The women argued, then agreed to let the other wear the dress but decided that wouldn't solve anything. The women were at an impasse.
At the church, Kate got a call from Giselle, saying that she threw her back out in Cannes while drunk and couldn't attend the wedding as Kate's maid of honor. Then, second choice Clarice came down with food poisoning and she had to decline. Kate grabbed Maxie and ordered her to be her maid of honor. Maxie happily complied. When Kate saw the flowers that had arrived were lilies, a.k.a. funeral flowers, she stormed off saying she couldn't go through with the wedding. Sonny calmed her down and convinced her to go through with the rehearsal. Maxie even went outside and picked new flowers for Kate. The rehearsal proceeded.
Ric blabbed to Lucky that Johnny was on his way to visit Lulu. Lucky informed Lainey, then ambushed Johnny in the hall at Shadybrook. Claudia was thrilled when Ric told her the news. Claudia offered to express her gratitude: by accompanying him to Kate and Sonny's wedding.
Thursday
Elizabeth was shocked that Jason wanted to go away with her to Italy, but accepted his invitation and gleefully planted a kiss on him. At Sonny and Kate's wedding rehearsal, the reverend asked which names they'd like to use during the ceremony. They hadn't thought about it, but decided to go with Kate and Sonny. With Mike and Maxie at their sides, the soon-to-be-marrieds got through their vows without any unusual occurrences. Afterward, they parted ways so that Kate could change into a different dress for the dinner. Meanwhile, Claudia begged Ric to take her to Sonny's wedding. He wasn't so sure it was a good idea, so she suggested he be there in case she has a meltdown.
Carly listened in as the Metro Court receptionist informed Olivia that Sonny is paying for everything. Carlo introduced herself to Olivia as Sonny's ex — four times. Olivia revealed that Sonny tracked her down to attend the wedding, and Carly caught on that Kate and Olivia are cousins. Kate shared stories of Sonny, remarking that he was quite the neighborhood catch, and admitted that she dated him when they were teens. Carly was mainly amused to hear about Kate's humble upbringing. Olivia recalled the night of "Connie's" graduation, when Kate boarded a train for Princeton and never looked back. Later, Jax caught Carly telling the receptionist to make sure Olivia gets the royal treatment and questioned Carly's motives.
Lucky and Johnny got into a confrontation outside of Lulu's therapy session, during which Lulu was insisting that her life was better since Johnny came along. Afterward, she saw Johnny outside and reamed Lucky out for sending him away. Johnny returned home and explained his frustrations to Claudia about not being able to see Lulu. But Lulu soon phoned and reminded him that he promised her they'd be together. Johnny was reluctant to go back to the facility.
Kate returned home to find Olivia waiting for her. "Surprise!" Olivia cried with a tentative smile. Kate was shocked and deduced that Olivia was the surprise Sonny referred to. She admitted that she'd been thinking a lot about Olivia lately and missed her. They reminisced over glasses of wine, and Olivia marveled that Kate's really made something of herself. Anthony, meanwhile, paid Sonny a visit under the guise of wishing him and Kate well.
At the hospital, Nikolas begged Nadine not to pursue her latest hunch about the counterfeit drug scheme. She told him to get back to "whatever it is princes do all day" and left the nurses' station. Later, Nadine sneaked onto a Russian boat but was captured by two guards. Karpov's sexy lawyer told the men to unhand her.
Nik paid Jax a visit at the Metro Court to make a bid on the hotel, claiming he wants to be able to see Spoon Island from the terrace. Carly went to see Jason and declared that Kate's going to get just what she deserves on her wedding day. At Kate's, Sonny insisted that Olivia join them at the rehearsal dinner and revealed that Kate needs another bridesmaid in her wedding. After Olivia agreed and walked out, Kate indicated to Sonny that she wasn't too happy about her surprise, which Olivia overheard.
Friday
Maxie was freaking out when the maid-of-honor dress didn't show up. She
found it: Olivia was wearing it. Olivia introduced herself and informed
Maxie of the last-minute switch.
Mike met up with Kate at the church and told her how thrilled he was that
she was joining the family and thanked her for loving his son.
At Metro Court, Carly and Claudia got their dresses, each surprised that the
other was attending the nups. Diane watched the exchange and shook her head.
Diane called Alexis. When Alexis showed up, Diane filled her in on the additions
to the guest list. Alexis wasn't pleased to hear about it but stated there
was nothing they could do except keep an eye out for their friend, Kate.
Jason went to see Sonny to clear his presence at the wedding. Sonny said he
wouldn't have it any other way.
At Shadybrook, Lainey had a session with Lulu and advised her not to lay all
her hopes on just one person, meaning Johnny. Lainey ended the session and
asked Lulu to think about what she said. Outside her room, we saw an orderly
approach. Once Lainey was gone, the orderly entered Lulu's room. It was
Johnny. Lulu was overjoyed to see him. Johnny offered to sneak her out and
take her to the wedding. Lulu said yes.
Nikolas showed up at G.H. looking for Nadine. Leyla said Nadine didn't show
up for work, which made Nik worried. On Karpov's boat, Nadine was caught
spying and captured. Sasha showed up, complaining that Nadine was a nuisance
who needed to be stopped. Nadine managed to dial Nikolas on her cell. Nik
overheard Sasha threaten to toss Nadine overboard but then she realized what
the nosy nurse was up to and took the phone away. Nik heard enough of the
conversation to figure out she was in the harbor. Later, as Sasha was
preparing to dispose of Nadine, Nik showed up on the boat with a gun,
grabbed Sasha and ordered the goons, in Russian, to release Nadine or he'd
shoot Sasha. They complied. Nikolas and Nadine jumped overboard to safety.
Maxie fumed as she returned to the penthouse, wondering how WASPy Kate from CT could be related to harpy Olivia from Bensonhurst. Maxie ordered Spinelli
to research the women. Maxie was crestfallen to learn that the ice queen
she'd idolized was just a babe from Bensonhurst. Spinelli pointed out that
while her name may have changed, Kate earned all of her success. Maxie
fretted that Kate would be exposed at her own wedding. Then, she got dressed
(in a Federico original, of course) and they headed to the church.
Robin showed up at Sonny's to say that she had an emergency consult and
couldn't attend the wedding. She was thrilled for him and he was ecstatic to
hear that Robin was going to have a girl. They both agreed that Stone would
be happy that they were both living good, full lives.
Mike met up with Sonny, and Sonny fretted whether he should be going through
with this due to Michael's shooting. The men agreed that Michael would want
his dad to be happy. Sonny thanked his father for standing up for him.
Jason met Carly at Metro Court, where Diane beseeched them not to attend.
Carly assured Diane that she would not be the one to ruin Kate's big day.
Olivia brought Kate the Falconeri family heirloom. Kate was thrilled until
she realized that their Nona's necklace clashed with her gown. Olivia
couldn't believe that Kate wouldn't wear the heirloom and accused her of
being as cold and soulless as her gown.
Sonny greeted the townies as they arrived at the church. Spinelli was touched
by Sonny's kind words. Ric encouraged his brother to give Kate a happy life.
Sonny assured a concerned Alexis and Diane that there'd be no drama at the
wedding. Carly wished Sonny well. As she and Sonny hugged, Jax saw them
together.
Kate and Olivia's disagreement ended up in a screaming match that the entire
congregation could hear. Olivia huffed that she'd wear the necklace. The
ladies got over their spat and walked down the aisle. Kate looked beautiful.
At the altar, she and Sonny joined hands. Just then, a shot rang out.
