The writers trying to make Ryan the next great business mogul of PV since Adam may be leaving, is laughableI realize since Thorsten Kaye left there isn't one viable male left on AMC, but to try and make Ryan anything like Zach is just a joke and makes bile rise into my throat.It's just too sad to see how pathetic and messy this show is and remember how great it once was. HD, new studios are not enough. Vile characters like Ryan, Greenlee and Annie are a blight on AMC and are giving this show a bad name. No writer is going to overcome the hate the fans have for Ryan alone and the indifference to Greenlee and Annie. I doubt the new writers will have the guts to get rid of Ryan, back burner Greenlee and kill off Annie. You cannot have a character such as David who has been a vile wife abuser and a villain, or Ryan a con man and woman abuser, or Greenlee a vapid airhead and kidnapper or a cold blooded killer like Annie without them ever suffering any consequences for their crimes and then do a 180 in the writing for these characters as a way to undo the previous head writer's damage to make them accepted by the fans. It doesn't work that way. The damage is done and these characters have had their day.I wonder how in the world this show can continue to showcase Ryan when he is so universally reviled. But then again I guess we can answer that in one word....Frons.

Well, I think if AMC continues down this destructive path, we won't have to worry about it, because ABC will pull the plug on the show...I don't care how much they talk about how much support they've been getting from the network. If they continue with these stories, and continue to keep running their fans off, they will have no choice but to cancel the show.The character of Ryan Lavery is totally reprehensable....there is nothing that can be done to save him He should go on a long vacation, and when he returns only be shown in the background. The fans are sick of looking at him on EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. The camera may love him, but the fans don't....so give us a break.AMC needs to do some serious recruitment. There are a lot of characters that need to be pulled from the show. They need to pull a OLTL and lose some characters. Although, I think the people OLTL were undeserving of their pink slips. AMC has a lot of DEAD WEIGHT.....Marissa, Colby, Scott, Fake Liza, Randi, Madison, Brot, Damon...they could easily lose these characters, and they wouldn't be missed.I actually believe that Annie and Greenlee could be saved, but they have to approach it smartly. They both need to start facing some consequences and realities. That is the only way to appease the fans. Annie has a laundry list of crimes that she has never had to pay for, and that's just not reasonable, practical or believable. Greenlee stomps around town like a spoiled brat and never has to face any consequences either. Just simply making these two pay for their behaviour would be enough to put a smile on the fans faces.And as far as paying for bad behaviour....let's not forget about Erica, Natalia, Jake, & Jessie. These four have taken the law in their own hands way too many times, going after David....and for me, it came off very badly. They too acted like a bunch of spoiled brats that were stomping around town, taking the law in their own hands, and weren't going to be pleased until they got what they wanted.They have a lot of repair work to do with this show. There is absolutely nothing intriguing about the show anymore. No tense court room scense, no true romance, no thrills, suspense...nothing. And no, I'm not buying one day of Jake & Amanda kissing in Confusion as a great representation of romance. Adam & Annie? Are you serious? It's no wonder everyone is waiting for Zendall to come back...they are the only couple on the show that we can believe actually loves each other. Hell, they're just about the only couple on the show...cause I don't count couples that spend absolutely no time together...Angie & Jessie, Randi & Frankie, Jake & Amanda....and that's pretty much it, for couples on the show.I mean, what is the show currently about? Ryan going around town buying up every business....Erica & Greenlee fighting over a company that's not worth a hill of beans....Annie trying to convice us that she really loves Adams' money, I mean Adam. (LOL) And Angie struggling as Chief of Staff, a storyline that is just completely stupid. For me, the time to blame Pratt for this travesty is over...LB should have immediately wrapped these garbage stories up and started off fresh. I don't believe the fans would have complained if Pratt's stories would have abruptly ended. GIVE US OUR SHOW BACK, NOW!!! It should have been like night and day, when switching from Pratt to LB....but as it is now, I can't tell the difference.

I am having a difficult time watching this show. It is better, but not a whole lot better. The only time I was really watching was during Dixie's scenes. And I agree, they could dump some those characters and no one would probably care. I am looking forward to seeing what Donna Swajeski and David Kreizman can do with these characters because Lorraine Broderick seems to be as clueless as Pratt. Which is a shame because she usually writes good stories wherever she goes.

I don't think it matters who ends up writing for AMC.... Frons is still hands on & that is the problem...LB isn't doing any better than McT, B&E, or PRatt.....I had hopes that maybe, but I truly believe that Frons is keeping her hands tied...You can see his influence everywhere...."THe Rylee Hour" is sucking the life out of the show...GL is everywhere...Ryass taking Zach's casino.... GMAFB.... Giving advice to Madison, telling GL revenge is bad..all the while standing in the casino he stole from his sons other dad....The show continues to be a red hot mess and it's a shame...As long as Frons is around, there is no hope for AMC..Ryass, GL, Annie all will continue sucking the air out of it...Hell, Brook/Erica haven't even shared a scene... >WTH is up with that...Erica being semi-okay with Ryass taking Zach's casino and not calling him on siding with GL & helping to push her out of Fusion.... Nothing has changed...Sure, Dixie returned.... With Red Hair... so what..Brook is back, which is great, but she stuck with Annie as a rival... Are they really kidding...Jack is back, but too few & far btw scenes for anyone to get excited about and most of Jack's scenes are about propping the man who abused his daughter.....What a joke...

I was telling a friend of mine who is an avid OLTL watcher that I had watched Wed.'s AMC show and that it was so not good, and she summed it up for me: It's boring. Same characters in the same situations every day, and nothing new or exciting going on. Nothing fresh, nothing that makes me say "I want to watch it!" To be honest, I'm excited to see AM and TK return to AMC in April, but I can predict what we'll see, as so many people have already guessed as well. Kendall will apologize to Greenlee, Zach will confront Ryan and Ryan will not see that he did anything wrong, Kendall will make a decision about Fusion, and they'll leave. If I didn't love Zach and Kendall so much, separately and together, I wouldn't tune in in April to see this. There are new HWs coming and I've only heard negative things about them. Maybe AMC is stuck right now because they are contractually obligated to use the cast they've got, the cast which moved cross country for this show, but boy, it's a dull show right now, and IA that alot of the current cast should be let go.

It's like comparing apples to oranges when you talk about AMC and OLTL. OLTL has a strong VETERAN BASED cast....and AMC does not. AMC has way too many youngsters floating around town, and they've made the huge mistake of losing just about all of their big players....throw that in with absolutely no interesting storytelling and you have a stinker for a show. I wish to God that I was the head writer for AMC because I have sooo many stories that I would like to see and I know they would help improve the quality of the show, but unfortunately I am not. I just hate to see this show get to this point...it's very disappointing.

I am concerned but not all that surprised that the new upcoming headwriters (in a recent interview) have stated that Greenlee and Ryan are hugely popular. On what planet I would like to know... I would think that they haven't read the fan mail or perused any message boards.

Maybe I am slipping but I don't ever remember seeing Greenlee and Ryan show up on any popularity polls anywhere either - in any soap mag or website.

This reminds me of Pratt's last year's statement that 50% of the people polled wanted Kendall and Ryan over Kendall and Zach, when the last poll that we saw published said something like 94% for Zach and maybe 6% for Ryan.. Obviously Pratt polled two people to get his results - Frons and Cameron Mathison's mother.

I wonder where the new writers got their newest information..probably polled the same two people. It's a crying shame.

I honestly gave up midway this week and quit watching. I have never done this, but I just couldn't take it anymore. They need to work hard on developing some good storylines that people want to follow....otherwise, I think I am done. I will just continue to watch OLTL and Y&R

Obviously either Cameron Matheson's agent and/or Frons.I see there is some support for David and Greenlee. It's most likely because fans would rather see this than a Rylee redux and because they don't want to inflict Ryan on anyone, even Greenlee. The support seems to me to be against Ryan and not for Greenlee and David.I wish they would match David and Erica up. There is more passion and tension between those two than Greenlee and David. They seem just so platonic and sterile. I lost all hope after reading the new head writer's interview. But then again, they haven't much to work with.

I can overlook the rah-rah pom poms by the HWs of actors and characters, some of whom I will bet big money will not celebrate Thanksgiving in Pine Valley come November. What I have a problem with is boredom. Good to know that Jake and Amanda, who have had no story since November/December, will finally get a storyline that makes them closer, as opposed to the backburner treatment where they've had no conflict. So in other words, we can expect more of the same, except they'll get airtime. Good to know that for the umpity umpth time, Jesse and Angie will get a storyline where they'll grow closer, too, as opposed to AMC repeatedly writing for the Chief of Police and the Chief of Staff and not really challenging the couple. There's more of the same, too.Liza's purpose is tied to Colby, as opposed to being a man-hungry, marriage-busting, baby-raising Clarence Darrow. Ok, I will agree that Liza came on in the worst possible way, in the worst possible storyline, and the desire to change her from Queen of Hearts to Legal Eagle to Marriage Breaker to Tad's BFF/Lover has been all over the place, but at some point, AMC has to cut their losses and let Liza go. If no one has a clear idea who JL's Liza is, and she gets reinvented as often as people buy containers of milk, the character isn't working.AMC is relying on 3 flop ideas, IMO: JR as a compelling corporate shark (which, IMO, has failed every time AMC has tried with JY in this role before, and I have no confidence it will work now), Greenlee's/Ryan's love lives being the end-all and be-all of Daytime (and they're just not that popular), and Damon as the next generation of Tad Martin--charismatic, sweet, funny and sexy. I'm just going to speak my honest opinion on this post, so here goes....I don't understand why the new HW's are running with these stories. Don't they see that the direction they are heading in is a dead end? JR will never be Adam Chandler, so trying to put him in the position of being the head of the Chandler family is a complete joke. Let's just face it, Jacob Young doesn't have the strong acting chops to pull that off. I wasn't buying one bit of this cancer story, and I will not buy JR being the head of the Chandler family. Bring back the character of Ross Chandler to breathe life into the Chandler clan. This will help revive the Cordltands & the Chandlers.As far as the Hubbards are concerned, it's about Damn time they gave them a storyline, but I'm not for sure that it will be one of interest. Jesse is always so wrapped up in the whole Ryan/Greenlee drama that he can't seem to put focus on his family. I think it's about time they give the whole Hubbard family a storyline. Having Frankie look at his hand every now and then and show a look of conern on his face, is not enough. Natalia has absolutely no storyline and she's been on the show for some time now. I don't want to see her with Brot. There is absolutely no chemistry between the two of them. Brot should have been gone a long time ago. He is a stagnate character that offers absolutely nothing to the show. They should be using his salary to put forth in bringing back TK.We are all going to have to suffer through tons and tons of garbage storylines between Annie & the remaining Chandler clan. With Adam leaving and Annie sticking around, I'm sure they will devote tons of un-interesting story time between Annie, Colby, JR & Scott. Time for Annie to move on, get a place of her own with Emma and develop her own story that has nothing to do with Ryan or the Chandlers.The Martins need so much help, right now, it's just ridiculous. AMC needs to calm her down a bit, because she comes across to harsh, and her delivery on her lines is a little too over the top. Besides, I think AMC needs a DA to come into town and put an end to Jesse and all of his personal vendetta's. He sucks as a cop!! I hate, loathe and despise the sight of him prancing around the casino. As soon as he or Greenlee comes on, my TV goes off or doesn't go on at all.Ryan is not the go to guy when you have problem. He is not a business mogul..he's a con man, a woman abuser and all around dirt bag. I hate this character with such a passion that I revert to high school jargon and cannot post a coherent thing. I get it..you have no other leading man but Ryan??????????Writers! Get a clue! YOU CANNOT MAKE A SILK PURSE OUT OF A SOW'S EAR!!!!!!

Exactly...They need to bring back TK/Zach..They need to give Jesse a s/l with TK/Zach..Get rid of Ryan and let him take his vile, nasty green butterfly with him....Rylee sucks, but they continue to push it..

OK. I have a question and I hope I don't piss anybody off. I can understand the hatred for the character of Ryan Lavery. He has jumped from woman to woman, leaving many broken hearts in his wake, he's selfish, and dishonest. But I am reading some posts that mention really disliking Cameron Matheson and blaming him for the direction his character has taken. My question is why? CM is an actor. He is portraying Ryan as it is written in his scripts. I can see hating what the writers have done to RL but wonder what I have missed that have made some hate CM.?

Maggie, I can only speak for myself, but I don't hate CM...I hate Ryan with a red hot passion.....As for CM..... I'm sure he's a nice guy.... My only problem with CM is, and this is JMHO, I don't think he's that good of an actor....Not a bash, JMOI also don't like the bias that goes on over at AMC because Frons & Co seem to love that guy....I think Cameron is an excellent photographer.... I've seen pics he's taken of TK, AM, AM & her beautiful baby, AM/Richie at their wedding, RB/Bob wedding, and they are stunningly amazing.I think he does an excellent job as a host on GMA and other shows....but as far as the acting gig he has on AMC.... He is no DC, VI, MEK, TK, AM, SL...I've heard some really nice things about CM as a person meeting fans, but also heard some bad things... since I haven't met him, I can't make a judgement, but I dont personally hate him, just the vile character he plays..I think a lot of the problem is the over-exposure....the fact that it seems Frons & Co favor him over others....but that isn't my problem..I see so many wonderful characters/couples damaged, decimated to keep Ryass Lavery around....give him a story, etc..We've seen really amazing actors with great potential pushed aside, while he's still front & center and that makes some mad...I know that it's hard for some to differentiate btw the character & the actor.....but I think the mass majority who hate the character, do not necessarily hate the actor...I want Ryass out of PV and I wish CM well in whatever he does.... I just want him to do it elsewhere.... Not another against him personally, just the vile character he plays...I also truly believe that there is a lot of favoritism from Frons toward CM & RB for that matter..... I truly believe Frons will do whatever to keep their characters in s/l at any cost, to any character, couple, actor, actress.....and that is something that some may also hate... but that's on Frons &Co....Hope this explains my feelings and not too long winded...LOL

I personally don't have anything against Cameron Mathison, as a person, but the character of Ryan Lavery makes my head spin while spitting out pea soup. There is way to much exposure of the character, and not to mention his character is an absolute jerk, but TPTB want us to pretend as if he's some kind of knight in shining armour. And by them forcing this whole Ryan & Greenlee "true love" story down our throats, it only intensifies the hatrid for the character even more. Also, having every character seemingly running around in circles to perform various tasks for Ryan is also an infuriating thing to watch. We need to see less of Ryan Lavery and focus a little more on some of the other residents of Pine Valley. All My Children is facing a big issue of not having enough Leading Men....and by trying to push Ryan in a leading position, it just pisses the fans off even more, because the character is not a lead character. Ryan originally came on the show as a con man...years ago, and he has shown very little growth from when he was first introduced. Also, AMC seems to hand this character everything on a silver platter. There was no good reasoning for having him take the casino from Zach, another move that is very under-handed and sneaky. The fans are eagerly awaiting to have Zach & Kendall return, and in the meantime Ryan snatches Zach's casino away from him, while he and his wife try to enjoy each others time and calm down from all the stress in their lives. Then if you add, the story of all the women in Pine Valley being smitten with this arrogant character....it all becomes a little too much.

Plus, I believe a lot of people are just iritated with the lack of interesting storylines for all of the characters...and we're supposed to be intrigued by this vile romance between Ryan & Greenlee. Like that's enough of an interesting story to carry the show....Well, it's not. All and all, it's just too much focus on Ryan Lavery and not enough attention paid to the remaining cast...also no intriguing storylines. Makes for a bad show and a lot of angry viewers.

We can't blame the actor for bad writing. Heck I feel sorry for Cameron. Saying those lines and doing the same old crap all the time...I'd think it make him pretty sick to his stomach. Just my opinion

Contrary to popular belief, I don't hate CM. I actually met him many years ago when he was dating Jennifer Esposito(they made a great looking couple BTW). It wasn't at a fan event either. He couldn't have been more charming and affable. Jennifer was a hoot. He was actually very nice with a great personality.That said, while I hate and loathe Ryan, I have to wonder why the actor doesn't say something to the writers about how Ryan is written and perceived. I know the actors probably don't have a lot of say in the writing but...he certainly must be aware of how the fans feel about this character and so must the writers. So why do they continue to write him in such a vile manner? Doesn't he care about how his work is perceived? Why are he and Greenlee shoved down our throats? They aren't fan favorites. He and she are hated because everyone is made to look bad so these two vile characters will appear to shine. They never are made to take responsibility for their actions, they act superior and self entitiled. Ryan in particular never earns anything or works for it...he steals. It is not an attractive trait.In short, I don't hate him but have little respect for him if he cannot stand up and say...'hey this guy's a jerk; a loser. He needs some humility and vulnerability. So while he may not be responsible for the writing, he is responsible for never questioning it and speaking up and allowing Ryan to be portrayed like the vile hateful and loathesome creature he is.

After reading them all I went back through every post I could find concerning CM/RL because I could have sworn I had read at least two posts slamming CM, and not just his character.However, I cannot now find those posts I thought I'd read. LOL So.....I must be losing my mind or something.

If you're losing your mind then you are in very good company..Lost mine a few years back, but I can fake being sane a hell of a lot better than Crazy Annie...LOL
