Unfortunately from what I read here also it sure looks like they have beeb. Wonder who will be next. They are only hurting the show. These kids won't be able to carry it all on their own. I prefer the story lines with the more established characters such as Marlena and John.

I think they've been given as much respect as the previous couples who carried the show and then were shuffled off.After awhile it's time to move on.

I love John and Marlena and I'm very sad to see them leave the show. They are such a staple on Days that it's going to be weird to not see them. THey will truly be missed.

It would be great if John would "come back" and if they could bring back Shawn (Jason Cook) and Belle (Kristin Storms)...a final family moment before John and Marlena ride off in the sunset! I will miss John and Marlena...they are and always will be a Days of Our Lives staple!

It's disgraceful that Days would dump its most recognizable star in Deidre Hall, and get rid of a legendary couple like John and Marlena.These are the kind of boneheaded moves that got the show in the shape it's in now. Corday's interview in Digest was bull. He took no responsibility for letting Days get to this place, nor did he give enough respect to Drake and esp Deidre for their years of service. They made him a ton of money and deserve better than "they have been wonderful for a long period of time". Whatever. I'm done with Days as soon as J&M are gone.

I still haven't quite accepted this yet. It's all over the net, on TV on Magazine covers and I can't believe it. John and Marlena were the reason I started watching Days of Our Lives in the first place and when they leave, so will I. To me John and Marlena were the heart of the show. I'm just disappointed that when they finally had a chance at a really good love story this year, we never quite got it. They story kept changing. Now there is no time left except for a quite ending. It's such a shame and such a disservice to Dedire, Drake and their fans.

I'm not surprised at this at all, and I'm not even that upset. I only watched for J&M anyway, so now I won't be tortured anymore by this show.

My last tie to DAYS is gone. Now that Deidre and Drake have been fired, I can finally stop watching this trainwreck. And Corday doesn't even have the class to thank them....in fact he says the show will be better without them! Thanks to Deidre and Drake for giving me so many years of enjoyment.

There were so many actors that should have been let go before the DH's were even considered. Corday yet again proves he is the biggest idiot in the industry. I hope this show is cancelled and a mob of angry actors and crew go after Corday since all he's done is make one stupid decision after another causing what was once a great show to become such an embarrassment and brought it to the point of cancellation.Once Deidre is off the show I'm done with Days for good.

I am with you, if they get rid of John and Marlena I am done with watching that show, this writer has no clue how much the fans like them, They just brought John back after making the mistake of letting him go. Their ratings are already low. They need a new writer and how about bringing back the old ones that made a strory, Like Stefanos other children, Kristen and Peter.

I am getting more and more outraged at the firing of John and Marlena each day. I am puzzled as to why they are bringing in new actors, but letting John and Marlena go. Quit bringing in new characters and give John, Marlena, Roman, Hope and Bo more stories to sink their teeth into. Ken, it just doesn't make sense.

I just found out what's going on at Days. Why would you let the main two people from your show go. How crazy is that! I love Days, but its now in a losing battle. The show used to be about so much. The actors that are left really don't have great storylines either. So are Peter Reckell, Kristian Alfonso, James Reynolds, and Renee Jones out next? Its only a matter of time. Come on Days get it together.

I read somewhere either here on this site or on Soap Net that Ken Corday said they would be gone for an unspecified period of time. Just have to wait and see. Hopefully when and if they bring them back it isn't too late.

I just read on another site that Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso took substantial pay cuts. So it looks like they will be staying. YEAH!!!!!! It is all about budget so, at least some of the favorites will be there, at least for awhile.

Forget about the Shawn and Belle you mentioned they are both on GH getting shot at all that stuff that GH does

John and Marlena are just a waste of air time. It's been so long since they've been interesting I can't even remember their last interesting story. Breaking them up once more in yet another absurd way is only hurting the show. Maybe they should do one of those dream things where John or Marlena wakes up to find the last few months was only a dream, and the writers could start from scratch, because I don't see any kind of miracle redemption for John anytime soon, without a very long absence.

I've already posted this message on other board that I had just mailed three letters to Ken Corday, Gary Tomlin, executive producer and Steve Kent, VP of Sony Pictures expressing my outage of the firing of Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn and the possible firings of other major vets on the show. I made it clear that fans love the vets John, Marlena, Bo, Hope, Patch, Kayla, Stefano, Tony and Anna and don't like them being sidelined in favor of Max, Stephanie, Nick, Chloe, Dan and Melanie and all the other younger set. I pointed out firing their greatest stars would decrease their ratings and that some viewers are already plannint to boycott the show once they're gone. I even suggested regarding the budget cuts they should instead axe characters of Dan, Stephanie, Chelsea, Melanie, Chloe and newbie Rafe and have several underused vets taken off contract like Roman, Maggie, Caroline, Victor and Kate and even giving paycuts. I also urged them fire Dena Higley since fans like myself don't like her material and have been complaining about for a while now and even suggested bringing back one of the several former head writers to turn the show around. Although I'm not sure if it will help I urge other fans to write to these people and let it be known that the vets like John and Marlena are what made the show over the decades and you would like to see more of the popular long time vets that I've mentioned front in center just as much as some of the younger set as well as insistince they get rid of Ms. Higley. I'm even considering writing to the VP of NBC or head of NBC Daytime if I could find their address. Thank you.

I think Drake and Deidre should be given the opportunity to take a pay cut and remain on Days. They are and always have been a strong couple on the show. Mr. Corday may be looking in the wrong direction to make financial cuts. He thinks that the show can't survive without the ludicrous Stefano DiMera character. He's probably paying an outrageous salary to Mr. Mascolo to play a cartoon-character version of a villain with a horribly fake accent. At least they got rid of the buffoons he called his minions. Good grief! Look toward John Aniston. Victor is a far superior, far more realistic baddie than Stefano ever was or will be. Victor makes my blood run cold while Stefano is simply laughable. If Corday thought it through, he'd be able to save the characters we really want to see and weed out those we feel are expendable. I have watched Days from the beginning and have become tired of some of the silly stories built around Stefano. If I lose John and Marlena, that will give me enough reason to finally stop watching. Lest you think I'm not the demographic you deem important, let me say this: My age does not preclude my ability to spend money on your sponsors' products.

Finally I can watch this show again. When they got rid of Drake last year I was elated but then he was brought back. Hopefully he is gone for good this time. I have gotten in trouble for complaining about him in the past but now there will be an end to the horrible acting he has forced on us for years. Squinting, sucking his teeth and whispering every line is NOT acting. It seemed every time I tuned in, he was on screen. It is about time and I applaud this decison. So long Drake.... See you on the next episode of Fear Factor.

I tend to agree with those that state they won't miss John or Marlena.I had long grown tired of John Black and was glad to see him killed off in the hit and run a year or so ago. It actually made Marlena kinda interesting again as she wasn't strapped with constantly acting like a teenager whenever John was around. ( A fault of the writing, I think, and not Diedre's) She was strong, she was engaged in what was going on with her kids, she was a professional - all of which made her interesting. Then John was 'found'. And while this 'new' John was kinda fun to watch, Marlena was back to pouting around after him like she was a kid. It was nauseating. (again, not a fault of the actress but the material she was given). At this point, I am so over the whole Marlena/John thing I will be glad to have them gone. Now, if I can get Martha Madison back as Belle... !!

As the John & Marlena story gets ready to end in two days, I find it hard to believe that its really going to happen. Hopefully in the future they bring them back, even if its for a little visit. I'll miss seeing Deidre and Drake onscreen. Outside of the show, they probably have a million other projects going on to keep them busy, but there's nothing like "home". Who knows we'll probably see them on another show, these days everybody soap hops. Drake on GH with his real-life son Ben Hogestyn would be cool. Deidre on Y&R giving Nikki and Ashley a run for Victor. Now that would be real soap watching. I've decided to stop being angry about them being fired, and just believe that we'll see them again doing bigger and better things. So cheers to Deidre & Drake and so long "tear" John & Marlena. I won't watch everyday, but I'll still check up on the show. I want to see what happens with Sami. I do have one request, I wish they would have let Marlena beat the crap out of Charlotte. I think she could take her.lol. Good luck Days in the future.
