This is something we constantly talk about but, I had to start it as a topic because it's gone into overkill. In the past it was bad enough when it was just Heckle & Jeckle (Mac & Scott). Now, you have Mac, who's completely incompetant (& from everything I've heard & read about the glory days of Robert & Anna) an insult to the Scorpio name. In all the years I've watched it, I've seen one moment of professional competance & that was when he caught Warren Bauer when he came into the hospital with the gun & even at that, Warren was able to shoot 3 people, including Mac.
Then there's Dante, who started out great- smart, professional, but not anal. Now, he's anal, but unprofessional. He has a built in conflict of interest that in a real police department WOULD get him removed from the case. No real police department would risk his involvement because his personal bias against Sonny would create reasonable doubt about any evidence against him. Plus should Dante make nice with Sonny, it would be too tempting for him to get rid of evidence against him. That's why real police departments have these rules.
Lucky's finally got his groove back, but he's still slow to figure things out & he's the smartest of the good cops.
Next up is "Rancid Ronnie", who is the very definition of corrupt. Committed armed robbery as an adult & let someone else take the fall for it. Then, he repayed the guy by covering up the hundreds of murders he's committed. Plus, I've always believed that he's been Zacchara's guy inside Brooklyn PD & he's probably the one who really killed Det. Poletti.
Finally, there's Claire. The woman who'll torture innocent victims because her ego is bruised. She's using her job to settle a personal vendetta. It doesn't matter that she feels guilty for doing it. She has no integrity or she never would've done it. That she fell for Sonny's crap is her own fault. Just because she'd consider using Michael after what he's been through, I hope Johnny honors his truce with Sonny by telling her Sonny wasn't responsible for the car bomb & sends her in the direction of the guys that beat Ethan up. Mainly because she'd look like the vengeful twit she is & Sonny would owe him & it would be entertaining to see him hold that over Sonny's head.
I don't know how real law enforcement professionals feel about how they're portrayed on GH, but it can't be good. The fact that they don't have a single cop on there that viewers could feel completely positive about is sad & pathetic. I don't know what kind of issues the writers have with law enforcement, but I really wish they'd work them out in their private time & start making the balance between the "good" guys & "bad" guys a little more even otherwise GH will be the next iconic ship to sink.
