I had such high hopes for the movie on Reva's life. I have been a lapsed viewer for several years now, I pretty much just read the recap in SOD. However, when I found out they were making a movie about Reva, I started watching again. I thought "What a great way to mine Reva (and GL)'s amazing history." Unfortunately, I am losing patience and faith. Last week, Jolene asked Josh and Reva about the fact that Josh is now married to Reva's sister. Josh got angry AGAIN (how did Josh become a minister and so angry in the time I wasn't watching?). Josh left, Reva blew Jolene off and the scene ended. Here's what I would have loved to see instead: Josh tells Jolene that marrying Cassie was nothing since Reva had already married Josh's brother, father, and was involved with Kyle (who they briefly thought was Josh's half-brother). Reva responds with the fact that Josh is not the first guy she and Cassie have shared. Then Reva talks about Prince Richard, and his look-a-like Jeffery. Jolene is fascinated by the identical "strangers" and Reva offers to show Jolene pictures of Cassie and Richard. Josh feels left out of the discussion, and leaves. That scene does exactly what the aired scene does, with a much deeper level and respect for history. That scene could also be stretched out much longer if you wanted to replace some of the annoying music montage crap they're passing off as writing these days (which I STRONGLY recommend doing). If you're running short on time, and starting to create a music montage, have Billy read the phone book instead. I would rather watch that man do anything then sit through another "video" of a town I barely recognize set to music I wouldn't listen to.
