Quote:Hey, we created a whole story giving Laura a kid out of thin air & even added a brother for Stavros.
Ahhh...but Laura's story was plausible. Luke's story is down right insulting to the viewers and Mr. Geary. They couldn't come up with a better storyline so they just pluck something out of thin air? This isn't spaghetti...throw a bunch of storylines on the wall and see which one sticks...
Yeah, but I think that's what they do when they come up with these stories. 3 fathers reunited or soon to be reunited with adult children in 2 years! They've got to get a new idea or new writers. They just keep recycling the same junk over & over. I know this particular plot is a staple of soaps & has been done successfully in the past, even on this show (Alexis & Sam). But, there is usually a space of more than a year & a half between the big reunions. Look how much time between the Bobbie/Carly reunion & the Alexis/Sam reunion. By the time Alexis went looking for her daughter, the audience was ready for it & it was done in a believable way. There was hope for the Scott/Logan story, but for some insane reason, they just gave up. They should've given that story the attention to detail they've given this implausible one. It's like they felt Mr. Geary would be jealous or have his feelings hurt if Luke didn't get the same kind of surprise. I seriously doubt Mr. Geary would care, but it seems like that's where their minds were. And, I totally agree about the whole thing with Rebecca spilling her guts to a stranger. She doesn't strike me as that kind of person. She seems too guarded to just open up to someone she met in a hotel bar. Again, I think the writers were trying to cram a year's worth of backstory into five minutes. If they'd had them meet in a bar he was working in & they dated for a bit before she blabbed her story to him, it would make more sense & go more with her character. Someone who grew up the way she evidently did would not be that naive.
Alexis/Sam and Bobbie/Carly weren't rushed. We got to know the daughters before the dots completely connected. They were both bad girls to good mothers and it all just fit. Scotty/Logan was a blip. Logan had the typical "I hate my dad because he abandoned me" storyline, but there was a lot of hope there. How cool would it have been to see a Spencer and Baldwin together for the long haul? Think of all the story for Scotty and Luke with that. Now that would have been fun. Yeah...I seriously doubt Mr. Geary would have been upset if he wasn't given a surprise son. I wonder how he feels about this whole rewrite of history and the basic distruction of L&L.
I do not like Ethan one iota. But unlike other's I also very much dislike Rebecca. I think with-in a year she will BE Emily. This is the feeling I get, they knew they made a mistake getting rid of her, and they are going to just redo her, so to speak. And I could not agree more with Kitty on another post, about the writers seemingly just writing day to day instead of a long term plan for anyone. I with her will keep watching, but for how long, who knows! It just all seems so redundant. No more love in the afternoon, now it seems more like, see how long I can sit here and stomach this, this afternoon. I sometimes think the writers are deliberatly setting out to ruin this show. JMO.
When Emily died I was very confused. Nic stayed with her dead body for a week or more, it seemed like forever. It seemed odd to me the whole time that played out. I wanted her to come back, but the longer they left her laying around dead it seemed unlikly to me. I think this girl may be her sister, but I do not like the way story is being told. Was Page Emily's real mom or did she adopt her the same as Rebecca's adopted parents did? Also this hook up with Ethan makes no since to me at all. I would prefer that Rebecca be not much like Em at all. Have some likes, but at the same time make her different.
Wow. the possibility that Paige adopted Emily, never even entered my head! I just assumed Paige is both their mothers'. Good one!

While I don't dislike Rebecca, I do dislike this storyline. It's getting dumber by the day. She's going to start to really love all these people that she came to town to fleece & when she decides to get out of this plan with Ethan, he's going to show, that like his father, he has a very nasty temper. They're probably going to revisit Luke raping Laura with Ethan attacking Rebecca so she can have yet another thing in common with her twin sis & something to finally bond with Liz over. Then, it'll be like Em never died. Oh, & she'll have to have that moment where she truly bonds with Jason as a big brother. With all the weird stuff they've done on this show over the years, why couldn't they have kept this simple & have her turn out to be Emily? There are a million different scenarios that would've been plausible reasons for her to be lying dead on the ballroom floor for hours & then pop up alive. There are all kinds of drugs that slow & stop the heart, especially on soaps. Nik passed out. He didn't see everything. What he saw was Diego putting the rope around her neck. They could've had him working with Helena to kidnap her & reprogram her brain like she did to Lucky. This would've been plausible & it wouldn't have involved the nonsense this plot with Ethan does. As for the Ethan angle of this story, I'm still wondering what the real deal is. I think it'll turn out to be one of 2 different scenarios:Scenario 1: Ethan isn't really Luke's son & this was all a plot concocted by Holly to con Luke. Remember, it was Ethan who took the DNA sample out to mail it & today, he supposedly got a message from Luke, but the audience knows it couldn't have happened because Luke was talking to Helena at the time Ethan got the message.Scenario 2: Holly's scamming someone, but it isn't Luke. It's Ethan. In this one, the key is the heart of every good scam. Mix just the right amount of truth in with the lie to con your mark. If she really is his mother & wanted to reunite him with his father & thought he'd be reluctant to, she might send him there to "learn from the best," or to con Luke, knowing he'd get a DNA test that would prove Ethan was their son. Ethan would be ready to leave town & either Luke would have to follow him, leading him to Holly or Luke would stop him just as he was about to leave town. Helena coming when she did screwed up whatever plan Holly had in the works for him so now, Ethan will put even more pressure on Rebecca to stick to the plan, leading, I fear, to the aforementioned rape scenario.
That was a great catch... Luke couldn't have texted Ethan because he was with Helena. Neither of those scenerio's sounds very good. I really hope the rape doesn't happen, I really don't see how that could help this story at all. Liz hates her and even if she did fell compassion for her I don't see it going any further than that.
Caught the inconsistency about the text message, but chalked it up to maybe it was the lab and not Luke on the phone. Ethan never said it was Luke, he just said that it was the test results. Lucky would not have questioned either source. Who sent the message??? Seems kind of strange that an event as important as proof of Ethan's parentage would be handled in such a slipshod way. If you blinked, you missed it. Something's up again!!!Why did Helena order her goon to leave after he hit Luke over the head? Who's going to carry him off the boat so that Mr. Geary can go on vacation????
Lots and lots of questions. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for at least some of the answers.

What happened to the love and fun in the afternoon? It's all gone .
I thought the same thing about Luke/Ethan. Didn't add up. However, I was liking Rebecca becuase she had some edge to her. BUT I was not an Emily fan. Too saintly and perfect for me. My gag meter always ran overtime when she was on. (Sorry to the Emily lovers). However, the thing that bugged me about teh Rebecca/Ethan flashbacks, was that Rebecca looked exactly as she does now, Emily part deux. Not the dark makeup streaky hair she had when she first came on. Very disappointing. I don't like that they are connected and I the more I watch it, I retract an earleier statement I made about thinking they could work together. Ugh.I was strating to like Ethan, but not now, he is annoying. It seems everyone is annoying me on this show lately. Hmm.
Me too. The only character right now who isn't irritating me is Jason, because he's the only one who's behaving true to character. All the progress Ethan made went out the window with the scenes in Rebecca's room over Kelly's & the flashback scenes.
I take back everything negative that I've ever said about Ethan & Nathan Parsons....he has really grown on me.
I don't take back what I've said about him in the past but I will say the actor has grown & the character has matured. He's no longer Jerry Jax #1 meets Capt. Jack Sparrow. Now, he's more like what Luke & Holly's son should be. He's also more viable as a love interest, but I'm really not sure Maya's the girl for him. She's too much like Emily & should be with someone like Lucky. Being with Ethan would be a replay of Em & Zander & it isn't fair to the actress playing Maya. Ethan should be with a woman cut from the same cloth. Not a woman who's as focussed & dedicated to a career as Maya. Maybe musician BrookLynn? She was edgy & a guy like Ethan would give her cred in her business (if she's still a singer this time around).
I'm still a bit raw here the boy is concerned. I actually have started to like him but am still reminded each time the change in history that has been done to create the character. Thats not the actor fault just the writer who doesn't do his home work.
I have always liked Ethan. But I felt that he was too much of a doormat during the Kristina story. His disposition was truly like the old Holly when she first came on the show, but I would have liked to have seen more of his Luke side. You know, using his cunning and wits to try to get out of this particular jam.
