I've said this in other forums but I feel like TPTB are writing NuLucky in a way that's going to get him fired from the police force. JJ just can't sell Lucky as a police officer like GV could. I think they might be trying to get Lucky back to his original nature.

Could not agree with you more. It is just not clicking. TPTB made a huge mistake at a time when people are just plain fed up anyway.

I really really love JJ, but for me, he just is not Lucky anymore.

Unfortunately I am not buying him as Lucky anymore. I did enjoy the interaction with him and Jason, that seemed more like what it should always have been, but it seemed very fake at the same time.

The one gripe I have about JJ is that no matter what he is saying it sounds like he is whining, and that has been a complete turn off. It's not his fault how his voice sounds, but it just doesn't click for me now that others have played Lucky. JMHO.

That's my problem with jj's Lucky. His voice is too soft. Maybe I'll get used to him....

Can you say "turn up the volume" when he's on. Did somebody tell him he sounds sexy or something when he talks like that? Jeez

Speaking up wouldn't help if he still mumbles.....he talks like he has something shoved up his nose.

He just does not naturally come by a strong voice. Kind hard to picture him being a cop with the soft voice....

I am trying not to be biased against JJ. Did not watch GH when he was Lucky. But having a hard time with this incarnation of Lucky after GV's Lucky. He just does not seem to fit a "mature" Lucky. But I will try to give him some more time, seeing as though there is really no going back at this point.

Part of my problem is the character, not necessarily any of the actors who have portrayed him, but I ma seeing it more now with JJ. They keep playing up the "love" that Lucky and Liz had when they were kids and Lucky currently keeps harping on it. I am sorry, but that was then and this now, things have changed and (supposedly) you have all grown up, and as you grow up you change and mature, which happens to everyone over time. I am beginningt to think the writers are trying to do a Laura/Luke redux.I just don't see this happening. As Liz has repeatedly stated, she loves Lucky, but it is not the same. I don't want to see a whole SPencer/Cassadine feud. I like that Nik and Lucky have a great brotherhood. I don't really want to see a Lucky/Liz part what are we now 10? I like Liz and Nik, but not if it is going tp destroy brotherhood and friendships. I am not crazy about Matt and Liz. I think she has way too much baggage for a carefree guy like that. I just think the writers have destroyed Lucky and instead of moving him forward, the character is being moved backward in an avalanche!

I agree. He might find out it was Michael and cover it up, thus getting fired...Oh, and Dante will be the new hot cop..

So watching today's show at the scene of the shoot out, I was thinking who is the chief of police? The way Lucky was barking orders, you would think he was. Does anyone else think they are trying to make JJ's Lucky more "cop-like"? Or am I just biased because I never watched GH when JJ was on before?

No insult intended to JJ fans, but my husband, who does not normally watch gh, came into the room while I was watching Friday's episode and asked "what the hell is that, a 19 year old cop?". Sorry, but JJ just doesn't fit all the history that is supposed to be the Lucky of 2009.

No offense to JJ playing Lucky; but don't the characters of Michael and Lucky look about the same age?I never watched GH when JJ played Lucky, I only knew GV, so, yeah, I'm having a hard time adapting to the soft spoken JJ's Lucky. NuLucky is so, so not believable playing a cop.

I gotta say it - I'm not buying it for a second that Lucky The Cop (or the PCPD for that matter) is good enough or smart enough to go to a crime scene and assess, based on "shots fired", that 'This doesn't look right' and 'Here's what I think happened'. Not buying it at all! I think someone has been watching too much CSI!

Lucky has been written as a doofus spud for so long I can't say Jonathan's Lucky is not believeable.

IMO they way they watered down (hacked) the character (history) of Lucky Spencer who is to say...if they wrote him true to form he probably wouldn't have become a cop anyway....but he had to be on the canvas with a career unless he ran the Haunted Star or Kelly's.

Lucky was "never written" IMO as he should have been he became a Jason Morgan foil....and never solved a case that I can recall...they always let the mob run ramshod over any police investigation and they were "always" for years made to look like the keystone cops...

What is unbelievable (since maybe Taggert) that they actively have them on screen even trying to solve cases without dropping them out of the storyline...'after their initial coming in to ask questions they never show them "actively" "continuously and doing police work on a case in a storyline and power it out to the end and actually "solve a case" without the mob taking over ....they never have "police storylines" on this show which is even more unbelievable....what is Dante the police who will bring down the mob because the PCPD never could? Will he do it after he finds out Stumpy is his daddy
No. so he too will fold to the mob.

...I'm glad if they are giving Spuds a new direction because I thought the PI would become the new PCPD which is even more ludicrous...

Anytime I see JY's Mac with JJ's Lucky on my screen together it makes me warm and fuzzy..They serve as a constant reminder of when GH was good and not the mobcentric mysoginist, nihilistic muddled mess its become.

They can tell by the positions the bodies are in & their locations. This is one thing the writers actually got right. If a cop's been to enough crime scenes, especially shootouts, they can usually tell these things & as far as Lucky figuring out that Limbo's body was posed, he's seen enough of Jason's work to tell when something's not right. But, I did find it amusing to watch him pointing it all out to Mac, who is supposed to be the more experienced cop. I guess ever since his drunken spectacle at Spixie's nonwedding, everyone's wondering if Mac's gone senile, including Lucky.

I agree that Lucky has been written as a doofus spud for a very long time, which is why it's suddenly hard to believe that with a new actor Lucky gets a brain! This isn't Oz! I like the Keystone Cops analogy too!If a cop's been to enough crime scenes, thenyes he could probably assess the situation accurately, but Lucky hasn't been to that many crime scenes that I recall. It always seemed like Mac wouldn't let him get involved in anything cause it would be conflict of interest or something. I think Mac has been pushing papers for too long and has gotten soft when it comes to actual police work. And the reason we don't see much follow-thru with these cases or arrests is because they usually baseless. I mean how many times do they arrest Jason just because?

Ya know what's really pissin off? Watching NuLucky get major facetime with everybody on the canvas, in an effort to reestablish him, while others (like Jason Cook's Matt) get NADA!

No kidding....what a bunch of BS. I hope JJ return bumps up their ratings, 'cuz otherwise he's not doing it for me. I read somewhere that Guza said people want to see familiar faces and that is why JJ's return is so important. Well, that could be true in some cases but not in the case of a character that has been played by someone else for 6 years. Any newer viewer like myself, is not impressed.

What I think viewers really want is decent writing. If TPTB had every big name is Daytime on your show reading insurance policies, they still aren't going to get the ratings they want!

I have to admit that seeing JJ on the screen again got me to tune in. GH continuously brings in new characters that I just do not care about. I've been waiting years for them to bring back the only actor I ever saw as Lucky and they finally did. Now if they can just write him something worth watching problem solved. I mean he is a Spencer. Let's have him act like one.

Or at least not be so stupid. He's way too naive. I realize he'd never in a million years guess that Liz is sleeping with his brother, but it should have crossed his mind that she IS cheating on him with someone. She's wracked with guilt & it's obvious to everyone but him that the last thing she wants is to marry him again. At least right now.I love JJ's acting. He brings something to Lucky that neither of the other two did. However, there's only so much an actor can do. If the writing is awful & the writers have no love for or respect for the character or it's history, no actor can fix it. Not even someone who created the role & put as much care & thought into it as he does.

I am still not impressed by his acting. He is showing no emotion. He gets angry, but you can only tell by the words, not any emotion or vocal change. Sorry, but I am not buying it.

Maybe his soft spoken voice will get a little louder when he catch Liz and Nik in the act. Can't wait for that!! I hope when and if he calls Liz a hore he shouts it from the roof top. The big dummy
