Why is there a new Michael? He doesn't look much older then Dylan Cash ( I hope that is the right name) so if they made him younger why not use him again? I thought Drew was doing a good job...anyone have any idea?
is he supposed to be older? I thought he was younger, he does have a baby face!
Quote:is he supposed to be older? I thought he was younger, he does have a baby face! This makes no sense. You can't make Michael younger. I was so against the Dylan being replaced but the other day I was thinking to myself that it was the right thing to do. That the story has really come alive with the this kid. I don't get it. He is a good actor. What is going on?
OH NO! Not Morgan, too! I love seeing that kid...he's one of the high points of the show. I'm sure the new Morgan will be cute and all, but it's going to be so hard to get used to the new faces! I'll miss both of them...a lot.
They are replacing the Morgan kid because the actor has scheduling conflicts. I say they should have written Morgan off for a while until they got the whole schedule thing fixed. then, they could have brought him on to keep the continuity. But NOOOOO.....
So true! Have missed your comments lately, Paul!
100% agree with Paul on this. Morgan is not on enough to make it a big deal to let the kid go shoot a pilot. What if the show doesn't get picked? I really like this Morgan.
They really blew it on this recast. He looks exactly the same age and doesn't have the same presence or impact. Scenes with the new Michael now are painful to watch... Bring The old Michael back!!
He looks more like Spinelli's relative.
As a viewer, I feel ripped off because I know that Drew Garrett did not leave of his own accord, and this is a storyline that should have been resolved with the original actor. It is not like [censored] had no choice but to recast. Drew was a recast of a popular actor, Dylan Cash, but the viewers had a chance to adjust with Michael being in a coma and all. But this is very jarring to me, so I can't imagine what Drew could have done, or not done, to deserve to be recast at this pivotal point of the story. That being said, I also feel for Chad Duell, who just took a job that someone would have taken anyway. But I agree, he does look like a relative of Spinelli, more than a son of Carly and AJ.
I agree that this recast has come at a very bad time. Nothing against Chad, but it's hard to watch because he's not Michael to the viewers yet. It has taken away from the impact of the story.
Totally agree at least Drew Garrett did look a lot like Jason so it was believable that he could be Carly and AJ's son. So far what I'v seen don't care to much for this new Michael. Hopefully he will get better
I just want to know what happen with Drew. I mean, the character did get on my nerves quite a bit, but I thought he did an awesome job with his portrayal. He was very believable with being the son of Carly and AJ....I will give this new guy a chance though. I'm not going to punish him for taking a job, but I do think this was a bad time to do a recast....at least wrap this whole story up before making a move like this. Whatever Drew did or didn't do to receive such an abrupt exit...it must have been pretty bad. I wish him luck though...he was a great talent.
I like the new Michael wayyyyy better than the old one. As for Morgan....whoever they get to replace him will have some big shoes to fill for sure
I think NuMichael has a bit more of an edge....something that would come from being raised by Carly and Sonny. I also think the look ties him darkly to AJ. As for NuMorgan...that's a botch job. I would have bee OK with him going to the attic for his skiis just to work the contract thing out, or until it was a sure thng the new show got picked up.
I agree with u Destiny! Don't get me wrong Drew did great but NuMichael looks like what you would get if Carly and Jason had a baby... Nuff said!
Quote:I agree with u Destiny! Don't get me wrong Drew did great but NuMichael looks like what you would get if Carly and Jason had a baby... Nuff said! Point being Carly & Jason didn't have a baby. Are you thinking AJ??
I like this Michael also. He appears slightly older, and I think that is probably what they were gunning for, without the baby face and the child voice, he seems edgier. Like someone who at one point was raised by Carly, Sonny and Jason. And yes, if you look at him and those mannerisms, he looks like someone born to Carly and AJ, and there is a passing resemblance to his BIOLOGICAL uncle Jason.
Lest we forget AJ and Jason are half-brothers.
He certainly doesn't look like a Quartermaine, a Spencer or Carly's biological father. At least the last recast looked like he belonged in these families. So far, I haven't seen enough of his acting to make a judgement about that.As for recasting Morgan, I feel the same way. Make the kid pull a Michael & run away for a while & have Michael or Jason find him when he's done filming his pilot. They do these things to accomodate women when they go on maternity leave or Tony Geary when he goes on his 4month vacations. Why not make the same concession for a talented child too?
I am so happy u understood that while I know Jason is not Michaels father he is the brother of his biodad... So when I say nuMichael looks like a combo of Carly and Jason its because AJ is gone and since Jason is the closest thing to compare to him... Viola!BTW- anyone notice that nu Michael is doing WAY better than nuMorgan.
New Michael brings an entirely different look to the character. He's less cocky and abrasive. It's unfortunate that the character was again painted into a corner and the only way to make all of these changes work was to recast him. As for nuMorgan, not liking him very much. It appears that they are "dumbing down' the character and that will ruin him.
I would like to know how they will let Morgan grow up. I wonder if they will find a way to damage that kid like they did Michael or will they let him grow up to be entirely different from Carly and Sonny. He is precocious without being annoying and he is not a scheming child. You know that boy will have great storylines in the future being that he is the bio kid of legacy characters Carly and Sonny.
I love the new Michael. And you are right,he is a lot less cocky. The old Michael really got on my last nerves. As for the new Morgan...so far not feeling him at all.
I really wish they wold have worked out something to keep the old Morgan. He is one of those kids I would like to see grow up. Now if he gets a chance at bigger and better things then good for him but darn it he was good.
I absolutely loved the old Morgan I am not feeling this new Morgan at all but I am beginning to like the New Michael he does seem less cocky but maybe that is what this character as Michael entails. Who knows I just dont see the point of bringing in a new michael to put him into jail that is why I am thinking something is going to happen real fast with this story line. But I am a bit glad to see crazy Anthony Z back he is funny to me and for him to bascially thank Michael for killing his child was just a little bit amusing to me...
Not feeling the nuMorgan either. I wish the best for Aaron Revfrem, but I wish he could have stayed. I'm having a hard time with nuMichael, mostly because I feel the recast came at a horrible time, in the middle of the trial. Can't show flashbacks and I think Drew could have handled the scenes well. But nuMichael is a lot better than nuMorgan, nuMorgan looks a lot younger or something.
Has anyone noticed that nuMichael and nuMorgan look alike? And none have Carly's blonde hair. oldMichael, to me, looked like Carly (and Jason). Also oldMorgan is moving up in the world, he was on CSI NY the other night. So i think it's more than just shooting a pilot.
I like the new Michael now. His looks and actions are totally appropriate for the storyline. No arrogance or cockiness on his face...just sadness and acceptance for the consequences of his actions. I still love the original, sweet Morgan though. He had such a charming personality, and look of innocence and trust, and sense of right and wrong, which was kind of amazing, considering he was the son of Sonny and Carly. Love that little elfin face! NuMorgan seems more angry, where old Morgan would have been more hurt and sad. I truly hate prison stories, so I may have to FF a lot for the time being. It's OK when someone goes to visit Anthony (briefly), but seeing a main character..especially a kid...having to interract with mean guards and, probably worse, other prisoners on a daily basis, is going to be upsetting to me. UGH! I know people have to go to prison sometimes, but I don't want to see life on the "inside". Call me too sensitive, but I don't find it entertaining.
I am with you on the prison thing. If you cannot depict it correctly, do bother at all. When we were in our 20's, one of my friends broke the law, and had to do 24 months in state prison. We talked, and he went in with the mind-set of acceptance. He was thinking that he would serve his time, and get out and re-buiild his life. After all, he was just 22. He was sexually assaulted in the first week, and that was a continuing pattern for 18 months. (paroled) 18 months of almost daily rape and assualt! 20 years later, he is barely holding it together. Has a girlfriend, and a half-way decent job, but his spirit is broken, and he is forever haunted. If GH were to show a glimpse of what the reality of a cute young kid in prison would face, it would add tremendous layers to Michael, and give so much story to be mined at a later date. Now, to be clear, I am not saying have the kid raped, but maybe expose him direclty to the violence of his father's world. Let him figure a way out without having daddy do it for him...Just random ideas.
Spoiler Alert:If you think Friday's scenes were bad, I have read that things are going to get A LOT worse before Michael gets out of jail. Unfortunately, he isn't just going to get beat up.........
I won't be watching.

Those parts, I mean.
While part of the judge's motives were good in sentencing Michael to prison, I don't think it should have been a place like Pentonville. In 2 to 5, the young, relatively innocent Michael will be more than ready to join Sonny's organization. In attempting to keep Michael away from Sonny and the violence, he is now exposed to situations ten times worse. It was a good way to punish all of the adults that lied and thumbed their noses at the law, but I think Michael will pay a terrible price for all of this. I agree, there will be a lot of fast forwarding of prisons scenes for awhile.
It'll also make it clear that the safest place for Michael when he gets out is working with his father. From what I can see, Michael's determined to be a gangster. If he doesn't work for Sonny, it'll be for some other gangster. Probably Anthony & he won't have the same loyalty & protection from the other goons that he would from Max, Milo, etc.
Sad, but true. Obviously the recasting of Michael did not include changing his life goals. He's still short tempered and hot headed and determined to show everyone he's good enough to be a mobster. So now he'll be backed into a corner and end up dead.

I have no idea, but I was totally against them making him older. Just when I finally go used to the new ones they are changing again. All I have read is this new one is envolved in a huge May story. The new kid was a Disney Channel kid star. He has a baby face to me.
