I just read in SOW that OLTL & AMC will be pre-empted for a day to give all of us people who may never have heard of Brenda a chance to get to know her! While it is no great loss that AMC is not on for a day, it is a slap in the face to the loyal viewers to both those shows. 'Legacy' Characters that return to these shows, other than Greenlee, do not get the same treatment. ( I do NOT think Brenda is a legacy character) Angie and Jesse did not get the royal red ABC carpet when they returned, and their return is SO much more intricate to the History of AMC.

ABC has put all thier eggs in a character's basket before (The REAL Greenlee returns) and has broken every single egg. Given ABC's track record, I expect the same.

ABC is basically telling us that Brenda is a great character, and that we are to love her. Why not simply write a great story that is compelling and drawn on history, rather than shove her down our throats?? I do not trust Guza and team to write a great story for Brenda....sorry.

I dunno...the character of Sonny is so ruined for me, that any character placed in his orbit is ruined as well...

What do you think??

I agree with everything except for the part about Sonny. I don't even think he deserves that kind of torture. There are other ways for him to do his pennance.I love Vanessa Marcil, but Brenda irritates me almost as much as Skye. The overly long sleeves will be back come fall. The whining will start immediately. Jax & Sonny will be bumping into walls, each trying to keep her away from the other. Poor Jason will be stuck in the middle of all of that. The boyfriend she brings with her will be another lunatic who's fixated on Sonny & Jax just like Luis Alcazar. About the only entertaining thing will be watching Kate fawn all over her & Carly, Olivia & possibly Claire get into it with her over Sonny. Even that will just drag the other characters down & the story she's handed will either be one with a dead end or one that ends up irritating or boring VM into leaving before her contract was up.As for pre-empting AMC & OLTL to publicize her return, I don't watch either of those shows so it doesn't affect me, but I would be furious if I did. It's an insult to all the actors who've made grand returns. I remember the outcry over the "Real Lucky Returns" & those were just commercials lasting 30 seconds or less.I'm disgusted with alot of their "big" returns. Maya (part of two legendary GH families) is just Emily with a really dark tan. Actually, she's less interesting & the coupling only skates by on Ethan's dubious charm. The "big" return of BrookLynn. She might as well go back to her namesake for all I care. What a character assassination! She just isn't what that character would've grown into. She's a spoiled brat [censored] with no loyalty & so far, nothing to respect. No character growth in the years she's been gone. In fact, she's regressed. Olivia is supposed to be her friend. Oh & so is Sonny. Yet there she is, doing everything she can to get into Johnny's bed. Personally, right now she & Johnny Z deserve each other. I say it's about time Liv got a guy her own age like...Steven! A little of Dr. Webber's medicine & she'll be saying Johnny Who?

As a huge fan and supporter of OLTL the news of pre-empting my show just so Guza and company can fawn over Brenda really ticks me off!! I agree with what was said earlier....AMC & ABC did the same thing for "The Real Greenlee," and we all see how that panned out. Not only do I think that this is a slap in the face to the characters on GH, to put Brenda on this pedestal...like she's the only important character on the show. But it is a humongous slap in the face to the fans of both AMC & OLTL...for ABC to assume that the fans would rather watch episodes or scenes centered around Brenda than to get their daily dose of AMC or OLTL is very presumptious.... This is the reason that ABC daytime's ratings continue to plummet. Frons needs to be fired immediately!!OLTL is one of the bright spots in my day, and I don't appreciate it being pre-empted, just so ABC can have a love-fest for Brenda. It's so funny because they are doing the same kind of promotion that they did for Rebecca Budig when she came back....with this whole ridiculous countdown of days. This return is sure to disappoint....and we all know that Vanessa Marcil is only going to stick around for a short stint.....so, who really cares!!

Totally agree tbreath! I am highly pizzed that OLTL is getting pre-empted. It's about the only soap worth watching these days. And yes it is a slap in the face to other characters on the show. Hell, Robin (even though I am not crazy about her) grew up on the show and they didn't do all of this when she came back to the show. And what about when Tracy Q left for a good while and came back. Now thats someone that deserves a party....jmo.And here's to hoping Brenda's azz is only back for a very short while

Well, unlike a lot of people on this board I'm a huge Brenda fan and can't wait for her to come back. And also there is nobody for Sonny but Brenda in my opinion. So, I'm excited that they are going to be put together. Now, with that being said. I think it is a bit much to pre-empt the other two soaps. I don't watch them but I would be mad. So, if Laura ever comes back does that mean we will get three hours of the best of Luke and Laura? Probably not, so if you're not going to do it for all the "big names" then you shouldn't do it at all. And I mean that for all the soaps.

I have always had a love/hate relationship with Brenda (pretty much like her and Sonny). I always felt that there was no one for her but Sonny, when she wasn't being whiny. I do think this is overkill because let's face it, Brenda's return may spike ratings for a few days, but the quality of the show may suffer more, because GH's writers will forget about all the other characters except for Brenda. And Sonny. And Carly. And Jason. And Jax. All other stories will suffer. So ratings will plummet. Again. So what is the point. Actually, I am ready for Robert Guza and Jill Farren Phelps to be replaced. They have killed off alot of important characters on the show, and I mean ones that are part of legacy families (Justus, Alan, Georgie, Tony, Emily). Decimated the ones that are still there (Sonny, Spinelli, Carly, Johnny, Alexis, Elizabeth, Nikolas, even Luke, and fawn all over the ones no one really cares for much (hello Claire!!, hi Franco). I used to run home to watch GH, now even when I DVR it, I may just delete it without even watching it. It's a shame.

I completely agree and wish for new writing blood on the show as well. ABC should not pull the other two soaps for one character who hasn't been on the show for more than a couple months in over 10 years. Between the magazines with the will she won't she come back covers and ABC pulling this stunt I have lost any good feelings I had towards the characters and fully expect to be disappointed with yet another GH story.

I agree I am definitely not looking forward to Brenda coming back. I loved Brenda in her day but I have outgrown her. I definitely don't want to see her back with Sonny, I may be the only one who loves Sonny with Carly always have and always will. I hope Brenda's stay won't be for long.

If they have to bring her back & put her in the middle of any of the couples on there, it should be Jason & Sam. I can hear JaSam fans screaming everywhere, but they are the only couple she can be in the middle of where there's a chance it will be interesting & even funny. In the middle of Patrick & Robin would be a betrayal & make their poorly done remake of "Fatal Attraction" even worse. If they put her with either Sonny or Jax, it would be a boring rehash of the past, with all the kids thrown in the middle of yet another mindless pizzing contest between Jax & Sonny. Besides, she already had that battle with Carly. If done right, a triangle between Brenda, Jason & Sam could be fun. Carly would be in the rare position of taking Sam's side. And, since the show loves to rewrite history, they could have flashbacks of that one night Brenda & Jason had together & have her surprise Jason with a secret daughter. Of course, that probably won't happen because it's thinking outside the little box they've created just for Sonny, Jax, Carly & Brenda.

Mob-infested General Hospital hasn't been any good at all in the last 20 years! And the FEW minor moments that saw any hope of improvement whatsoever did NOT include the very forgettable character of Brenda! WHO CARES ABOUT BRENDA?! Obviously Guza does, unfortunately. (Can we please get rid of Guza already?) I would like to see just about any other character return to GH instead of Brenda! Laura, Robert, Anna, Felicia... Greg Vaughan as Lucky! Brenda wasn't any good the first time around... why would anybody want to watch that crap again??? That said, this very long-time GH viewer would rather watch any other soap in place of GH! And that's any day of the week! Unfortunately for us, we're just plain out of luck! What a rotton deal!

That said, today was a great reminder of the comic relief that GH used to be capable of and also what a bewildered cutie Jason was back then.TPTB have made him too dark and brooding now and I can't remember the last time I laughed at anything on GH.

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Whether or not people are happy that Brenda is returning, I thought it was absolutely wonderful to see so many of the "old" characters today! Thank you, GH, for the trip down memory lane.

I agree! Even tho I was always a fan of Brenda's, I could really care less about her return. But it was so much fun seeing all the old characters & remembering when it GH was the best thing going in daytime soaps!

I recorded the reruns anyway, and I have to admit, it was fun to watch the old episodes...especially from the 90's. The one thing that struck me was how much better the writing was. I was actually great fun to see the old faves again before the show was Guzanated. It was kinda wierd seeing Amber Tamblyn as Emily.....SB as Carly...Was there a Miranda recast?? I don't really recall that. Great fun!
