One Life To Live Recaps

OLTL Week of August 18, 2008

Monday

Blair promised to cheer John up. He offered her a glass of wine, but she preferred a can of beer. Blair said she was sick of suffering. "I would like a little joy in my life," she admitted. "I think you deserve that," John concurred. Blair suggested John wear some different colors to play up his beautiful blue eyes. "Good luck with that," John said. Blair found a Hawaiian shirt in John's closet and said she'd do something special for him if he would put the shirt on. Blair whistled at the brightly clad John, and promised to buy him a blue shirt. The two began kissing passionately. After they made love, John woke up and imagined Marty looking at them.

Todd ran to Marty's side when she had a nightmare about the rape.
"Everything is fine," he said, quieting her down. Marty begged him not to leave. "I can't sleep," she said as she recounted the dream. "I was being raped, wasn't I?" she wept. Marty said that Todd had been in her dream. "Have we ever been in that room together?" she asked a very uncomfortable Todd. Marty thought he had appeared in her dream because she needed him. She didn't want Todd to leave because she was afraid she would fall asleep and "go back there." Marty asked him to lie next to her. "Sure," Todd replied. Marty fell asleep and imagined John in her dream.

In 1968, Gigi tiptoed into a big house. Renee asked Gigi, thinking she was Emma, if she was all right. Gigi soon learned that it was 1968. "If it's 1968, have you seen Rex?" she asked. "I haven't come across a Rex in a dog's age," Renee replied. Gigi was stunned to realize that she was talking to Renee. She soon met Clint, but thought he was Jared. A frustrated Gigi couldn't get through to anyone. Clint explained that a professor kept calling Bo Rex. Gigi then spied Spencer. "Shane!" she called. The boy kicked Gigi and denied she was his mother.

Rex paced back and forth in his room. The electricity had gone out. "Balsom, are you all right?" Emma asked. Rex told her he had to report to boot camp tomorrow.
Emma tried to stay optimistic about the war ending "by next summer." "They are wrong, they are all wrong," Rex said, sadly. He touched Emma's face, saying,
"You are so much like her." "I can be whoever you want. I can be your girl tonight," Emma offered. Emma and Rex began kissing. Jeremiah told Gigi that he saw "Bo" go down the hall. (By then, Gigi figured out that everyone had different names.) Gigi opened Rex's door and beamed at the sight of him. Rex was a little less joyous, as he knew Emma was lying next to him.

Michael didn't know what to say to Marcie. She told her husband that Cole had given up his rights to his baby. Michael worried that Todd would still be involved; "Todd is the grandfather," he reminded her. Marcie asked Michael if he would divorce her if she brought this baby into their lives. "You are my life," Michael told her, adding how difficult it was for him when Marcie ran off with Tommy. "I can't live like that," he said. Marcie tried to convince him that things would be great with a new baby, but Michael didn't buy it. "I will pray for you and your baby every day," he said. "Are we breaking up?" she asked. "It sounds like we are," he replied. Michael couldn't go back to John's because "he's entertaining." Marcie said she'd make up a bed for Michael at their house. The pair hugged each other. After they made love, Michael began to cry.

Tuesday

John and Marty saw each other in their dreams. "Is this a bad time?"
ghostMarty asked John, who had just made love with Blair. "You must be John McBain," Marty surmised. "You remember me?" he asked her. Marty asked John why he hurt her. GhostJohn asked who told her those lies about what he had allegedly done to her. "It figures Todd would tell you something like that," he said. John asked ghostMarty if this was a dream. "Isn't any dream of mine," she noted. Marty asked why he was moving on to Todd's ex-wife. "Do you miss me at all?" she asked. "More than you know," he replied. "I think about you every day." John insisted that sleeping with Blair wasn't about hurting Todd. "Anybody but Blair," ghostMarty said, shaking her head in disgust. She warned John that Todd would strike back. "I hope Blair is worth it," she warned. GhostJohn tried to convince Marty that Todd is a liar. Marty hinted that Lee's death was also ghostJohn's fault. "I must be a really bad guy," ghostJohn grumbled. Marty kept defending Todd. "He's the exact opposite of you," she claimed. GhostMarty asked John if he was trying to save Blair. "Me, Natalie, Evangeline," GhostMarty intoned, listing the women John had tried to save. "The last thing I need is you shrinking me in my dreams," John bristled. John said he would take care of Blair. The ghosts disappeared from both bedrooms, but not before ghostMarty kissed the real John goodbye.

Happy to be home in 2008, Bo had a conversation with Asa. "It's time for us to put the past behind us," he said. Bo didn't plan on joining Asa in a drink, however. He explained that he had been Asa way back when. Asa didn't believe a word of this "time travel crap." "You were a real SOB, Pa," Bo pointed out. Asa insisted that everything he did was for his family. "I was a damn good father," Asa barked. Bo explained that going back in time made it possible for him to let go of Asa. Bo told his father that he could now start over. "I like Bo Buchanan," Bo realized. "I could have told you that," Asa said. Bo told his father he could rest now. "I can take care of myself," Bo said, adding that he still missed his father. "I miss you too, Bo," Asa answered. Is that what you wanted me to say?" Bo nodded. When he turned away, he saw that Asa had disappeared.

Shane woke up and told Brody that he just had a really bad dream. "I dreamed you weren't my dad anymore," he said. Brody hid Rex's toothbrush that Adriana had sent to Gigi. Brody gave Shane a glass of warm milk and asked him about the dream. "I dreamed that you did die in the war," Shane explained. Shane said that if Brody went away now, it would be worse than thinking his father was dead. He wondered what would happen if Gigi wanted Rex to be his dad. Brody promised Shane he'd be his dad always. Shane asked Brody why he let Gigi go look for Rex. "I wish we could make Mom see she would be happy with you," Shane said. Shane admitted to liking Rex and added that he had once hoped that maybe Rex could be his dad, before Brody came home. Brody promised that he'll always be a big part of Shane's life, no matter what happens between Rex and Gigi. Shane headed up to bed and Brody looked at that toothbrush.

In 1968, Gigi walked in on Rex and Emma. "Oh, my God," she said when she saw that Emma looked exactly like her. Rex introduced the two women. "How did you do this?" Rex said, grabbing Gigi. Gigi explained how she got to 1968. Rex couldn't believe what she went through to find him. "How could you do this to me?" Gigi asked. "Me? I thought you slept with Brody," Rex said to a surprised Gigi. She explained she hadn't slept with Brody. "Everybody here is somebody else," Rex tried to explain. Emma crept out of the room and wished Balsom the best. "I don't want anybody but you, Gigi," Rex said. "It's always been you Rex, always," she replied. Rex brought Gigi up to speed on who's who in 1968. Gigi wanted to bring Rex back to 2008, but Rex didn't think it was all that easy. Gigi panicked at the thought about not making it back to Shane. "I cannot stay here. This place creeps me out," she said. Rex promised Gigi that they would get back to 2008 — and he sealed that with a kiss.

Wednesday

Jared and Natalie basked in their post-lovemaking glow...which was interrupted by the smell of smoke caused by Tina's burnt muffins. The couple charged downstairs to check on everything, and learned that doggie David Vickers wasn't exactly potty trained. Jared read aloud from the newspaper, saying that Dorian's takeover of Buchanan Enterprises had been a financial success. Tina offered to speak to Dorian on the family's behalf. Natalie was surprised at Jessica's mean remarks to Tina. Jess brought up Nash, which silenced Natalie and Jared.

Earlier, Jessica barged into the kitchen from the basement. Tina asked her where she had been. "Isn't that the way to the mausoleum?" she asked. Jess (really Tess) made up a story about fixing a fuse. Tess thought Tina should go somewhere else if she wanted to be waited on. Tina offered to call Viki, but Tess stopped her. "I don't want my mother," she declared. Jared headed out to look for work. Tess reminded Natalie that she had forgiven them. "Now that's a man," Tina gushed over Jared. Doggie David Vickers started to bark at the door heading downstairs.

Nora told Clint that Bo was at the ranch and he was coming home to Llanview.
Clint was delighted. He reported that his plan to win back BE was in its final stages. Simon, the private investigator Clint had hired, came in with a file full of information — on Langston Wilde. "Oh my God, Simon, you deserve a bonus," Clint smiled. Jared showed up at the door and asked to see Clint, saying he would do anything to help Clint get BE back. Clint gave Jared the file on Langston.

Blair returned home from her night out to a kitchen full of Cramer women with raised eyebrows. Addie assured her there was no shame in being out on "a booty call." Starr, Langston and Addie tried to guess who she had been out with. "Would I really hate him that much?" Starr asked. A coy Blair said she was just enjoying being single. She didn't want anyone to know who the new man was. Addie threatened to bring Madame Delphina into the story. Blair called Delphina a con artist. Starr and Blair then headed to their OB/GYN appointment. Marcie waited for Starr at the doctor's office. Starr hadn't told Blair that she had invited Marcie to come for the ultrasound. Starr went into the examining room, which left Blair and Marcie alone to talk. Starr told the assistant that she was giving up the baby to Marcie. "My parents were not cool with it," she added. Starr said she had done so many stupid things and was glad that she could give something to someone who deserves it.

Meanwhile, Blair told Marcie she didn't want to get too attached to Starr's baby. She assured Marcie that she knows what kind of mother she is. "What I feel about the adoption doesn't matter," Blair admitted. Marcie disagreed, saying she wanted the baby to have a grandmother and "for that person to be you." Marcie didn't care to know the sex right now. "We want to be surprised," Starr said. Starr gave Marcie a photo of the ultrasound. Blair invited Marcie to join them for lunch.

Cole woke up with a headache (probably as a result of Sam playing with the voodoo doll Todd had given Starr). Nora assured Cole that he has a long future ahead of him as she handled him a catalogue of colleges.

John charged into the police department, still haunted by the dream of Marty last night. He put out a call to pick up Keyes, Todd's bodyguard. Keyes demanded to know what he was being picked up for. John called him a disgusting human being. Keyes said he was caught between some bad business between the Mannings and mentioned "the lady he was keeping up at his place." Keyes went on to say that "if Manning was keeping a woman at his place, she might have come from Ramsey's place." He told John Todd had fired him and he had no idea what the woman's name was.

Todd woke up holding Marty's hand. Marty woke up and accused Todd of snoring. Janet brought in breakfast and Todd yelled at her. Marty shared her dream about John with Todd, and reported that John was challenging her in the exchange. "Forget about him," Todd insisted. Marty wanted to talk to John in person. Todd said no. He wanted Janet to make sure that Marty saw the new issue of The Sun, with the picture of John on the cover. Marty told Janet about her dream with John; Janet used that moment to show her the newspaper. Janet assured Marty that Todd wouldn't let John get past the front door.

Thursday

Tina threatened to call Viki because Jessica was acting too weird. (You think? It's Tess, silly.) Tess forbid that and continued to bark at Tina. When Cristian entered the kitchen with Sarah, Tess immediately backed off her aunt, explaining that pregnancy hormones were causing her bad behavior. Tina asked about Cord, but Sarah reported that he'd gone back to London for work. Cris and Sarah asked Tina for some scoop on Jonas and Mendorra. The minute they left, Tess resumed her verbal abuse of Tina.

Antonio said goodbye to Jamie and Carlotta. He was heading back to Mendorra to get Talia. Cris and Sarah arrived at the airport and insisted on going with him. Antonio didn't want the help, but there was no saying no.

Jared said he'd do anything to help Natalie get back into Clint's good graces. "Do you want a job or not?" Clint asked him bluntly. Clint hinted that they would have to hit Dorian where she lives — her family. Jared wondered how Dorian's foster daughter would help them win back the company. Clint reasoned that Dorian lives for her family, and he knows of somebody who could take Langston away from Dorian. He explained that Langston's mother has a brother who lives in South America's Colombia. "This uncle of Langston isn't exactly a white knight," Jared observed. He wondered if it bothered Clint to screw around with Langston's happiness. Clint pointed out that Jared had screwed around with the Buchanan family's happiness. He assured Jared that Langston would be fine, "if everything goes according to plan." "Are you in or out?" Clint asked, wondering why Jared was having a problem with this plan. "I think it sounds a little dangerous to me," Jared admitted. "I think you can handle it," Clint said.

Markko was busy filling out a new application for a job at the club.
He and Langston ran into Cole, who was busy looking at college listings.
Cole wished that they could fast forward to the spring, when the baby would be here. Langston couldn't believe Cole didn't even ask how Starr was. She and Markko began arguing but Cole broke it up. Cole almost had a message for Starr, but took it back. Langston told Markko that she keeps thinking about what Delphina told her, that she wasn't alone.

Nora thought it was good for everyone to "leave the nest" after high school.
Langston didn't think Nora knew anything about her life or what she was going through at the moment.

Starr, Marcie and Blair had lunch at the club. Marcie told Starr that she wanted Blair to be a grandmother to the baby. "Wow," Starr said. Marcie asked Starr if she wanted to be a part of the baby's life, as well. Blair told her daughter she doesn't have to answer right now. Starr made it clear that Marcie was her baby's mom, but she did mention that she'd made a video for the tyke. Marcie told Starr that she was an amazing birth mother. Starr invited Blair to be her birth coach and Marcie to attend the birth. Nora and Cole ran into them, and Cole saw the sonogram. "Is that my baby?" he asked. Cole looked at the photo and asked if it was a boy or girl. Starr didn't want to know. "Oh, so now Starr is calling all the shots?" Cole said snidely. Marcie thanked Cole for letting her adopt the baby and said he could be a part of the baby's life. Cole declined, saying he didn't want to be going in and out of his child's life. A very upset Cole stormed off. "I need to be by myself," he huffed. Moments later, he ran into Starr in the courtyard. Awkward....

Todd told Starr's OB/GYN that he wants his grandchild. The doctor wasn't impressed with Todd's threats and went to call security. Todd insisted she put down the phone or "you'll learn what it's really like to have a sad and pitiful life." Todd showed her a file he had on her son. "You covered your son's tracks when he stole drugs from this hospital," he noted. "My son made a mistake. How dare you?" she blurted, as Todd threatened to make this all public unless she made it possible for him to get his grandchild. "What do you want me to do?" she asked.
Todd wanted to be kept up to date on any appointment Starr had, as well as being informed the minute she goes into labor. "I can do that," the doctor agreed. However, when she said no to another request, Todd called the newspaper to place her story. He hung up when she changed her mind. "You bastard," she muttered as she begrudgingly shook his hand.

Tess arrived, late, for her OB/GYN appointment and was extremely rude to the receptionist. Todd, who was the reason the doctor couldn't see her right away, overheard her remarks and walked into the waiting room.

Friday

Jared said he'd take Clint's offer. Bo walked in on the meeting, somewhat startled to see Clint and Jared next to each other. (After all, they were one and the same in 1968.) "Did you decide to forgive and forget?" Bo asked. Nigel came in to the living room. Bo explained that Nigel was Chuck Sr. in his dream. "Both Chuck and I were extremely loyal to your father," Nigel explained. Nigel gave Bo a box of the letters he had written Asa from Vietnam. Bo apologized to Matthew for not calling him and vowed to be a better father. Bo realized it had been 40 years ago that he left for Vietnam. "What the hell happened down there?" Clint asked his baby brother. Changing the subject, Bo asked about what was going on between Clint and Jared. "We're working it out," Clint said, making subtle reference to his new get-Dorian-via-Langston scheme. Bo was glad that John was the new police commissioner.

In 1968, Rex called Gigi a "hot hippie." "Everybody is somebody else," she noted. Gigi didn't want to talk about the fact that Rex was going to war shortly. Rex introduced Fina to Gigi. Fina told them that the time portal was closed. Gigi said she'd die if she couldn't see Shane. Fina said something supernatural would have to propel them into 2008, but he didn't know exactly what that might be. Fina asked them not to change history. "I wish you both the best of luck," he said, leaving them. "Let's run away now," Gigi suggested. "I can't run away," Rex said, as he tried to explain he couldn't change history. "Bo has to meet Nora, Matthew has to be born," he explained. "So you are just going to leave me?" Gigi said. Olympia, Renee and Emma all said goodbye to Bo. Spencer called Gigi Emma's evil twin. Gigi gave Spencer a big hug. "You look so much like my son," Gigi said. Spencer pushed Gigi away in disgust. Chuck and Rex came out in their uniforms. Asa showed up and said goodbye Rex. "Better get you and Chuck Jr. over to the bus station before the army calls you AWOL," Asa told his son. Rex looked ill at the thought of what lay before him.

Brody frantically placed a call to Gigi, then poured a cup of coffee for Layla. "I am here to butt in," she admitted, and asked if Gigi had received the package Adriana had sent to Gigi. Brody played dumb. Delphina returned Brody's $5,000 check. "I lost her," she said. Delphina said that Gigi was alive but she "just can't come back." "I have to find Gigi. Gigi would never leave Shane," Brody called out after Delphina. Brody panicked about what would happen to the boy. "He could end up in foster care," he said, as he took the toothbrush Adriana had sent Gigi out of hiding.

John asked a judge for a warrant to search Todd's house. Probable cause? The woman who was living with Ramsey was now living with Todd. The judge said the town thinks that McBain killed Ramsey. After much pleading, John got the warrant from the judge. "But if you don't find anything at Manning's, that's it, game over," he warned as John ran out of Rodi's.

Cole told Starr he missed her. "I miss you, too," Starr said. Cole didn't think it was possible to be a part of his child's life. He said he couldn't talk to her because he'll never forgive her for giving "our kid away." Starr said she'd never change her mind about giving her child to Marcie. Starr and Cole ran into some friends from school. They soon learned she was pregnant. The kids were heading to the pool and Cole joined them. Starr's heart broke into a million pieces.

Todd ran into Jessica screaming at the OB/GYN's assistant. Jess immediately apologized for her rudeness. "God, I hate being like this," Jessica said. "I haven't been myself." "No, you haven't," Todd agreed. She said she heard that Starr was pregnant. Jessica figured out why Todd was with Dr. Joplin — he was up to something with Starr's baby, as the courts were keeping him away from his children. Jessica asked exactly what Todd was doing. He didn't answer. Jessica thought Tina should move in with "her brother in his big house." Todd didn't like that idea. Jessica then exploded, and Todd was sure it was actually Tess he was talking to. Todd left without letting on. Tess stormed out of the doctor's office and arrived at Todd's house determined to snoop around. "What the hell is up with you?" Todd said. "I'm talking about the fact that you are Tess," he continued. The episode ended with a knock at Todd's door.
