One Life To Live Recaps

OLTL Week of August 20, 2007 Recaps

Monday

A mysterious visitor heard from the motel manager that Asa had died two days earlier. As the visitor was reading Asa's obituary, he opened
the bio to a photo of Jessica and Natalie and said he'd be seeing them soon.

Nora checked in with Bo to see how he was doing. "I can't believe he's gone," he said about losing his father. Nora reminded him to take a few days off from work if necessary.

Talia couldn't help smiling when Antonio returned to work at the police station. Antonio knocked on Bo's door, offered his condolences and said he
needed to be back at work. "I need your help," a delighted Bo said. Bo handed Antonio a stack of files. The conversation soon moved to the topic of Bo's niece (Antonio's ex-wife, Jessica). Bo reminded Antonio that he would slowly recover from the breakup. "We'll see," replied Antonio. Talia told Bo and Antonio that Miles' upcoming hearing was drawing a lot of press. Bo told Talia and Antonio that they'd be working together on the job. Talia was thrilled but covered her excitement. Antonio asked about George, Talia's "boyfriend" (actually her made-up boyfriend). A flustered Talia reported he was fine.

Natalie pretended to enjoy Miles' breakfast. She assured Miles she'd be in the courtroom today during his hearing. "What makes you so sure I'm not guilty?" Miles asked. "You have a good heart," she replied. Michael dropped by Viki's but wanted to see Nat. He asked her if she still had any pull with John. Natalie said she didn't and asked why he needed her help; she thought Michael and John were quite close these days. Michael chose not to
go into any details.

Blair was embarrassed when Todd overheard her conversation with Max,
specifically the detail that they had kissed. Todd and Max began arguing. Max told Todd he had asked Blair to come back with him. Todd pretended not to care, but did. Blair asked Todd, "When are you ever going to get over this?" ("This" being Todd's rivalry with Max.) Blair admitted that the thought of starting over was tempting, but added that she didn't really want to go. Max interrupted and asked, "Is the tantrum over?" He said goodbye to Blair and offered her the view from his veranda in Argentina anytime. Max kissed her farewell and assured Todd that Blair
considered Todd the love of her life. "I can't believe he said that," Blair marveled. Blair and Todd's argument was interrupted when Miles was
escorted into the courtroom. Natalie arrived and began
arguing with her Uncle Todd. Nat sat by Miles, who was delighted to see her. Miles admitted to being a little nervous. Blair and Todd retired to the courtroom. Todd began screaming when Miles was found not guilty of the
attempted murder of Todd Manning. Miles looked at
Todd. "What you looking at, tuna face?" Todd spat. Much to the courtroom's shock, Miles then pled guilty to all the
other charges.

Marcie thought it was hysterical that John thought she might have killed
Spencer. She didn't know why John was still looking for the killer since Marty Saybrooke had confessed. Lindsay interrupted their breakfast at the diner. Michael left the gals. Marcie told Lindsay that Lindsay had just been named
2007 Woman of the Year. Lindsay dropped her fork. Marcie said Jen would be so proud of her. Lindsay kept hinting that she had done
something that perhaps people wouldn't be proud off. Marcie assured her that Lindsay was as much of her family as her blood relatives were. John
overheard Lindsay tell Marcie that nothing or no one should take Tommy away from her.

John woke up Marty, who was dozing off in her cell. He told her he figured out who killed Truman "and it wasn't you." John
explained for the umpteenth time that Marty didn't remember any details about actually stabbing Truman. He promised that he'd get her out of this. "No matter what I have to do," he assured a doubtful Marty. John offered to walk Marty to the courtroom to keep the press at bay.

Jessica told a surprised Nash that she was heading to London to spend some time with her family. "I just need a little space. Can you give me that?"
she asked. Nash reminded her that they hadn't even had a real honeymoon, not
counting the faux Niagara Falls he had created in her hospital room. Nash agreed to give her space, but "tell me why you need it," he said.
Jessica explained that Llanview was feeling a little too small and that everyone knew she had cheated on Antonio. Nash and Jessica made love before she left for her vacation.

Tuesday

Marty was stunned to learn that Miles had pled guilty to the lesser charges.
Miles' lawyer equally as surprised. "This is my decision," a very serious
Miles told his lawyer. And as if on cue, Todd began a courtroom scene but
was soon quieted down by the judge. Miles freely admitted stealing a tape
from Marty's psychiatrist which he used to blackmail her into marrying him. "I'm ready to accept any punishment this court deems appropriate," Miles said.

Marty and Todd both asked Miles why he changed his plea to guilty. "It was
the right thing to do," Miles said. Todd began to antagonize Miles. "One way
or another, you are going to pay for what you did to me," Todd threatened.
Miles' lawyer scurried him away. Todd and Blair were ready to leave, but
Blair had something to say to Marty first. Blair thanked Marty for killing
Spencer "and saving my life." But Blair wondered why Marty hadn't stayed
with her. "I don't remember," Marty said.

Lindsay told John that Marcie was off limits and demanded he stay away from
her. She asked John if Michael and Marcie hadn't been through enough
"without you raking them over the coals." Marcie told Bo, Clint and Dorian
that Lindsay had been named Woman of the Year. "I can't believe it!" Dorian
snapped. "I've been overlooked again." Bo, on the other hand, was delighted
for Lindsay. Lindsay just looked embarrassed.

At the hospital, Michael asked John why he was still digging around the Truman case and begged him to please give it up and promise to keep the secret of Tommy's identity a secret. John couldn't make that promise. Michael thought that had their father been alive, he would have done anything to make sure Tommy would stay a McBain. "Last thing I want to do, Mike, is tear your family apart," John said. "Then don't," Michael begged.
John thought there was no way the truth wouldn't eventually come out. Michael disagreed. "Nobody I trust would want to destroy that [the bond between Michael and Tommy]," Michael told his brother. "I will do anything for them, anything," Michael added, "and accept that my wife Marcie had nothing to do with Spencer's murder." John wasn't so sure.

Clint was harassed by a reporter, who was asking about the fall of Buchanan stock. Fortunately Dorian scared the reporter away and took Clint to lunch at the diner.

At the gym, Adriana and Layla couldn't take their eyes off of the new guy.
Later we saw him make a phone call. "I think I know how to get in with the Buchanan girl," he said to whomever was on the other side of the phone. In the steam room, Vincent, Rex and Nash talked about Nash's financial problems. Vincent didn't have any money to loan him at the moment, but Rex had an idea, one that involved an element of risk. Rex
explained that Roxy is hosting an invitation-only poker game at Foxy Roxys. Rex assured Nash that there would be high rollers present. The "new guy"
also happened to be in the steam room, carefully listening to every word.
Nash was interested in the poker game.

Natalie arrived in her office at Buchanan Enterprises. Her assistant knocked on her door and said there was a Jared Banks to see her. Enter the "new guy" who announced, "I am the answer to your prayers."

Wednesday

Lindsay learned that Nora was going to present her with the Woman of the
Year award. Nora couldn't believe Lindsay was the honoree until Bo told her that Dorian wasn't joking. "Lindsay is Llanview's Woman of the Year," Marcie
assured when she volunteered to help Nora write the speech. Bo, Marcie, Dorian and Clint rattled off all the great things Lindsay had done to deserve
the honor. Nora wasn't convinced. Marcie got very defensive of her friend
and reminded Nora that all Lindsay has are memories of Jen, while Nora goes
home to see Matthew every night. Nora asked Marcie why Lindsay was so
special to her. Marcie explained that Lindsay has always been there for her.
"I don't know what I'd do without her," she said. Nora asked Bo, "Now what I am supposed to do?" Bo suggested Nora look into her own heart and tried to convince her to get past any bad blood between them. Later, at the award ceremony, Marcie asked Lindsay why she looked so
preoccupied and why she was reading an article on Marty's upcoming trial.
Lindsay only said that no one should be punished for killing Spencer Truman.

Natalie met Jared Banks, who said he was a big fan of her grandfather's. He offered that he was the answer to Nat's prayers. Natalie wasn't impressed and soon cut him down to size. Jared pointed out that Buchanan Enterprises had lost five stock points each day since Asa's death. He said the only way out of this dilemma would be if she hired him. Natalie looked askance at that
suggestion. Jared rattled off a bunch of issues B.E. could use his help with. Natalie shot holes through Jared's resume. Jared looked uncomfortable,
to say the least. "How much of this is bologna? I wouldn't hire you to
bring me lunch," Natalie scoffed. Jared reminded Natalie that Asa "was a liar
and a cheat and that's how he built this empire," then he left Natalie's office.
Clint popped in to see his daughter and retired to his own office. Natalie
shredded Jared's resume.

Nash begged Roxy to let him into her poker game. Roxy reminded him that it
was a high stakes game. Rex tried to convince his mom that Nash was a legit
contender. "You do not want to mess with these people," she warned Nash and
added that she wasn't getting a serious vibe from Nash. Nash explained that
he didn't want to lose the vineyard. Nash left to get the money he needed to
enter. Rex and Roxy bantered and ate junk food. Lindsay arrived at the
beauty parlor for some quick glamorizing. Roxy serviced Lindsay on the house when Nash showed up with his cash. Nash was ready to play when there was a knock at the door. "Hey, who the hell are you?" Roxy asked as Jared breezed past her.

On his rooftop with a beer, John tried to figure out who really killed
Spencer by talking about the case out loud. His conversation ended when
Spencer Truman himself showed up. John tried to ignore Spencer's annoying
comments, but soon began a conversation with the dead man. Spencer claimed
that John's determination to solve the crime wasn't about "me, it's about
pretty little Marty Saybrooke. You've found another damsel in distress," he
teased. Spencer offered an explanation on how and why Marcie might have
killed him. John wasn't convinced.

Sarah and Cristian ran into each other at Serenity Springs. Cris helped her go through some weightlifting reps. Cris told Sarah that Asa had called her
"a piece of work," quickly explaining that that was a good thing. Sarah added
that she thought Asa "got me the way other people didn't." She thanked
Cris for the workout pointers. Cris asked her out for a bite to eat. Sarah happily obliged. Sarah and Cris arrived at the diner and ran to into Clint and Dorian. Tense moments followed. Clint asked about Sarah's last conversation with Cord. Sarah told Cris she felt awful about not having seen Asa before he died.

Thursday

Much of Llanview turned out for the Woman of the Year banquet honoring
Lindsay. Rex and Michael decided that the longer John keeps the secret the
better it is for Michael and Marcie's future with Tommy. Rex listened
intently as Bo told him about the past disasters that had befallen the
winner of the Woman of the Year. Lindsay got more and more concerned and
worried about how Nora would be introducing her. Dorian asked Nora to go
easy on Lindsay. Nora countered by recalling that Dorian had really
wanted that award. Marcie welcomed the audience with warm and loving
words about Lindsay, who she considers part of her family. Michael looked
queasy when Marcie mentioned Tommy. Bo assured Lindsay not to worry about what Nora might say. Nora said she wrote a speech for tonight but decided to rip up her notes and speak extemporaneously. A look of worry crossed the faces of Lindsay and everyone else in the audience. Nora recounted the lowlights of her relationship with Lindsay. (This was made ever more delicious by the wonderful use of flashbacks.)

Starr quizzed her mother on why she and Todd couldn't be together. Blair had
some questions of her own for Starr. Cole came by and told Starr he hadn't
been sleeping well because he was worried about his mom. Blair said she felt for Marty even though they had their differences. Todd called and was going to pick Blair up for the Woman of the Year event.

At Roxy's, the high stakes poker came began. Eventually it was just Nash and
Jared going head-to-head over the chips. Nash got suspicious when Jared began quizzing him about his life and wife. Nash realized that Jared knew about Jessica and this poker game because he had been in the steam room with the guys. Jared upped the stakes when he suggested they go double or nothing and threw his ring into the pot, which intrigued both Nash and Roxy.

An unruly prisoner got roughed up outside of Marty's cell. This altercation trigged a flashback for Marty of the night of Spencer's murder. She remembered Spencer fighting with her and knocking her head against the
window. She then recalled Spencer throwing her in the bottom bunk in the
resident's room. "I didn't kill him, did I?" Marty said looking John directly in the eye. John had a hunch he knew exactly who murdered Spencer, but needed some more of Marty's help. He pressed her for details. Marty remembered who murdered Spencer — Lindsay! — just as Ms. Rappaport accepted the Woman of the Year award.

Friday

Jared beat Nash with a hand of four ladies. Nash got up. "I've just lost every penny to my name," he fumed as he stormed into the other room. Roxy suggested Nash go to Antonio for more time on the loan. "Oh, I forgot you stole his wife away," she laughed. "I'm screwed. What do I do now?" asked Nash. Roxy offered Nash some money, but "I don't take money from beautiful blondes," he said. Jared apologized for winning and offered Nash a chance to win his money back. Nash wasn't interested. Jared left and made a call to Antonio and asked about the "vineyard you have to unload."

Miles kept hinting to Natalie that he might be able to help Todd find his son, but never actually said it in so many words. "I just don't like that he's out there hating me," Miles said earnestly.

Starr gave Cole the 411 on the whole Todd/Margaret Cochran/Blair debacle. Cole thought it was very odd, but reminded Starr he loved her, not her father. Starr wondered if John was interested in Marty. Cole got a call from his mom with news that their nightmare was almost over. "We're going to be all right," she said. Cole and Starr hugged happily.

Marty had a clear memory of seeing Lindsay stumble out of Blair's hospital room the night Spencer was murdered. "What reason would she have to murder him?" Marty asked. John said Marty didn't have to worry about the "why." That was his job. She couldn't believe she finally remembered. "You'll be back with Cole in no time," John assured her. Marty was so grateful to him. "You believed in me even when I didn't," she marveled. "What happens now?" John replied, "Now I have to go arrest Lindsay for murder." Marty reminded him that the Woman of the Year banquet was one of the most important events of the year. John said he'd do the arrest quietly.

Lindsay was moved to tears when Nora presented her with the Woman of the Year award. "Never in a million years did I think I'd be standing up here," Lindsay admitted to the full house. She graciously accepted the award and went on to explain how the death of her daughter Jen had motivated her to start working on behalf of less fortunate mothers. "I'm just a mother who mourns the loss of a her daughter every day," she said holding back the tears. Lindsay added that she would do anything, anything, to keep a mother from losing her child. She rattled off a few crimes — including murder — and then said, "I've already done that." Lindsay began sobbing. Bo started the applause to take the focus off of Lindsay. Rex looked confused and Michael muttered to himself: "What's going on?" Marcie helped a distraught Lindsay back to her seat. "I did an awful thing, and I'd do it again for you," Lindsay sobbed to her friend. "What, what did you do?" Marcie asked. Bo offered to take Lindsay home, but she said she was fine. "I can do this," she insisted. Lindsay returned to the podium and apologized for her meltdown. She said that like Jen, Marcie was such a sweet person. "Like a daughter to me," she said. Lindsay went on to say that Marcie was the most wonderful mother and that no mother should have to give up her child. A worried Michael started looking for Rex and instead he saw John in the back of the room. "What are you doing here?" he asked. Todd looked at Blair. "Showtime," Todd said with glee. Michael was convinced John was coming to arrest Marcie. John tried to tell him otherwise. "You are not taking my wife to jail," Michael yelled so everyone, including Lindsay, could hear. John told Bo he was there to make an arrest. Michael became frantic and was unable to hear what John was subtly trying to tell him. Marcie butt in to the conversation and told them she was not going to let them ruin the evening for Lindsay. "Marcie, he's not here to arrest you," Lindsay said from the podium. Marcie continued to explain to the audience that John thought she had murdered Spencer. A poised Lindsay stated clearly from the podium, "John didn't come here to arrest Marcie for the murder of Spencer Truman. He came to arrest me."
