One Life To Live Recaps
OLTL Week of August 4, 2008
Monday
In 1968, Renee and "Asa" (actually Bo) had a sweet conversation. Renee told "Asa" that there was no more future for them, or for Asa and Emma. (Of course, Asa and Renee went on to marry more than once.) Elsewhere, Emma tried to control Spencer. Emma asked "Bo" (actually Rex) if he had someone special in his life. He said yes, thinking of Gigi. Rex asked Emma if she still loved Ned. "It's not about that," Emma said as she began flirting with Rex. "If you can't be with the one you love..." she said seductively.
Maria connected with Clint at the café. She wanted to tell him that she's expecting his baby. However, they were interrupted with "Bo" and "Asa" (Rex and Bo). "Asa" made it clear that he didn't condone a relationship between Clint and Maria. Rex asked Bo if he really thinks he's Asa now. Bo reminded him that they couldn't start fooling with history, so he had to act as much like Asa as possible. "And if Asa doesn't sleep with Emma," Rex noted, "there will be no David Vickers." Rex said it was important they get back to 2008 ASAP. Jeremiah asked what Rex's cell phone was. "Time travel? I've read all about it," Jeremiah said. "Seemed like you two slipped through the portal of parallel universes." Jeremiah told them he has a copy of a book explaining it all.
Gigi found Brody at the bar at Rodi's. "AA meeting did you well," she quipped. She asked Brody not to make any plans for the future. Brody told her that Rodi's was looking for a bartender and waitress. "The jobs are ours if we want them," he said. Gigi thought living together and working together was a little too much "togetherness." She insisted that Rex's phone call meant he was in trouble, not "on anything." Brody reminded her that this wouldn't be the first time "Rex has left you in the dust." Gigi got a call from Shane who wanted to come home. "You can see your father tomorrow," she told her son. Gigi filled out an employment application.
Dallas and Clint reminisced about their trip through the Chunnel when they were a couple in Europe. Nora asked Dallas when she was going back to London. Dallas hedged she wanted to be with Clint "during this awfully difficult time," saying that her stay in Llanview was "open-ended." Nora wasn't pleased at that tidbit.
In Mendorra, Jonas told Talia that Antonio was dead. Talia didn't believe him. She demanded to see Antonio's body. "To say goodbye," she begged. Talia reminded her new groom that she hates him. "I'm going to get out of this crazy nightmare," she declared. Jonas wanted to kiss and make up. Her response? "You are a pig and I'll die before I'll let you put your hands on me."
Also at the palace, Cain and Tina were about to be beheaded. Cain yelled for help, but the people weren't interested. Tina begged for forgiveness from the people of Mendorra. She began to tell her life story, but Carlo put a stop to that. He reminded his people that Tina and Cain were con artists. Tina countered by saying that Carlo was a madman. Tina and Cain held hands as they were put in place to be beheaded. However the executioner turned out to be Cristian, who freed them. Antonio gave Talia a gun and then pummeled Jonas on behalf of Talia, Sarah and himself. An injured Antonio could barely manage to flee the palace. He told Talia that Sarah had gone over the falls. "My father killed Sarah," Talia said, horrified. Tina joined them, not knowing where Cain was. Cain ran through the palace hoping to escape, picking up the jewels on the floor. Antonio asked where Cris was. Tina didn't think Cris survived, but he did. Cain joined them, dressed as a woman. Carlo showed up and made it clear they wouldn't be leaving Mendorra anytime soon.
David Vickers and his canine namesake demanded that Nigel announce to Clint and Nora that he was there. David charged in, and Nora and Dallas excused themselves. David asked Clint if his check was still good, assuring Clint that he was splitting up with Addie. He promised that Dorian would give Buchanan Enterprises back to him and presented Clint with the signed transfer of power papers. Clint wondered why David was in such a hurry to get the check. He was about to call Dorian, but David stopped that. Nora showed David a newspaper clipping proving that David's marriage had been annulled before he made his deal with Clint. Of course, Clint said that the deal with David was off. David looked faint and later looked in the mirror and didn't see his reflection. "Must be the medicine," he said. Nigel saw man and dog out. "David Vickers is always one step away from the big score," Clint noted. He was happy he didn't have to tell David "that he's a Buchanan."
Tuesday
Jessica had a surprise for Natalie and Viki: She had decorated the living room and presented Viki with an itinerary which included a stop in London to visit Kevin and family and take in a show. Viki told Jessica she's very concerned about leaving her right now. "Why? Because I lost control of the lemon?" Jessica (really Tess) asked. Viki kept thinking something was off with Jessica but couldn't put her finger on it. Jessica/Tess assured her mother that she would be fine at Llanfair.
Natalie called Clint, who still didn't want to talk to her. "It's about mom," she said, begging her father not to hang up. Natalie invited Clint and Nora to the goodbye party for Viki. When they arrived, Natalie greeted them. Todd arrived and asked Natalie about the brakes on her car. "Do you think someone was trying to kill you?" Todd asked. "Always the sparkling conversationalist," Nora quipped. Jessica/Tess thanked Todd for taking care of Bree. Jared arrived to a chilly welcome, but managed to make small talk with Clint. "See? You talked to my dad," Natalie beamed. Jessica made some remarks to the guests and reminded her mom that she'd be well watched over. Dorian, dressed to impress, then crashed the party.
Earlier at LaBoulaie, Dorian showed Langston a copy of the latest Cramer Enterprises newsletter. Langston wondered if it might be time to let the whole fight over BE die down. "Where's the fun in that?" Dorian replied. They walked into the living room and found a silent Starr watching a movie. Dorian and Langston rushed to her side. Starr said that Cole had changed his mind. "Now Mrs.
McBain can have the baby," Starr shared. But she quickly added, "We broke up."
Langston tried to assure Starr that maybe Cole would change his mind. Dorian thought someone told Cole to break up with Starr. Starr didn't think that was the case. "Your father doesn't want any man close to you," Dorian reminded her.
Starr said there was nothing she could do about it. Dorian said she would find out what Todd did to "make that boy break your heart." Dorian left the two girls together. Starr didn't want to talk about it. "Let's just watch the movie. I saw it the first time with Cole," she said, breaking down into tears. "I thought that we would be together forever." Starr told her friend that she still loves Cole. "I know he still loves me. But he never wants to see me again. Never," Starr sobbed. Starr ran into her mother's arms but immediately said she really didn't want to talk about Cole. Blair told the girls she had gone shopping and gotten them some fabulous tops. Starr thanked Langston for not lying to her, for confirming that "things will never be okay," Starr said.
Blair went through her purchases and realized that she had picked up Todd's packages by mistake. She found a white nightgown. "So much for platonic,"
she quipped about his houseguest.
Cole came home and told Nora that he and Starr had broken up. "I signed away my rights to the baby and then we broke up," Cole shared. "You are becoming quite a man," Nora told him. "I don't know what I'm becoming," he replied. Nora said that Marty would have been proud of him. "It's just all so sad," she sighed. Markko came by with a new video game. "Nora called you?" Cole asked. Markko nodded his head. "Fine. I'll kick your butt," Cole teased as he grabbed the game out of Markko's hands. Markko didn't understand why Cole broke up with Starr if "you still love her." "There is no way I'm getting over losing that baby," Cole explained. Markko wondered how his friend felt about "what you were doing to Starr."
Blair and Jack ran into Todd at the coffee bar. Jack was delighted to see him; Blair, not so much. The exes began to squabble. Blair sent Jack off to play, so she and Todd could have some conversation. Blair was surprised to learn that Cole had signed over his rights to his child. Blair made it clear she had nothing to do with that, and that she wasn't manipulating their daughter. "Her baby is our flesh and blood," Todd said. "Well, so is Starr," Blair responded. "It's killing me not to see my kids, Blair," Todd whined. Todd's cell phone rang — it was Viki, inviting him to her goodbye party. "You're leaving tonight?" Todd said, surprised. "I'll be there." Jack begged for permission to hang out with Dad. Todd made a snarky remark, and Blair and Jack left. "You don't know when to quit, do you Dad?" Jack sighed as he followed his mother out. Blair arrived at Dorian's, who was horrified to learn of her run-in with Todd. Dorian was hurt that Viki didn't invite her to the party. Dorian urged Blair to talk to her heartbroken daughter.
Jared paid Charlie a visit at the Angel Square hotel. "I'm doing okay," said Charlie. Charlie told his son he knows Viki is leaving and that he's been going to lots of AA meetings. Charlie thought it was better that Viki was going to be gone for a while. "It will give me time to figure out what to do to make it up to her," he reasoned. Jared didn't want to go to that party "where everyone hates me." Jared's gift to Charlie left him speechless.
In Mendorra, Talia told Carlo if he would let her friends go, "then maybe I won't hate you that much. That's what I have to negotiate." Antonio begged Talia to join them on the plane. Talia demanded that Antonio hand over the gun. "Let them go," Carlo relented. "Good decision, Dad," Talia barked. Antonio refused to leave Mendorra without her. Talia said he had to go back to Llanview for Jamie. "You have to get on that plane. Don't make my horrible father make her an orphan," she begged. Talia and Antonio said a bittersweet goodbye. "I'll always have you in my heart," she said. On the plane, Antonio vowed to return to Mendorra and bring back Talia.
On the plane, Cris looked out of the window and saw Sarah floating in the ocean. Moments later, he brought a disheveled Sarah into the cabin. Tina was overjoyed.
Wednesday
At Viki's going-away party, Clint told Dorian that they hadn't forgotten to invite her— she just wasn't invited. Dorian bragged that she saved Viki's life.
Jessica reminded Dorian that she blames her for Nash's death. Dorian made a beeline to Todd. "You are the reason I am here," she claimed. He announced that Cole had broken up with Starr. Todd began to argue with Dorian but Nora quickly put a stop to that. "You just came here to make a scene," Clint accused. Viki asked Dorian nicely, "because you saved my life...Please leave." Viki added that she would never be able to forgive Dorian for what happened to BE, Nash and "probably Charlie." Dorian snapped, "What are you going to do? Have one of your alternate personalities throw me in the secret room?" Jessica/Tess's ears perked up at the mention of a secret room.
Dorian left, but not before telling Todd to stay away from the Cramer women.
Viki thanked everyone for coming. She asked Clint and Nora to keep an eye on Jessica. She begged Todd to keep a lid on his temper. She asked Jared to keep Natalie happy. "I'll do anything for your daughter," Jared vowed. Viki told Jessica to call if she needed anything. Jessica said she'd be okay and would take care of herself. Viki said goodbye.
Natalie thanked Clint and Nora for coming. She knew that they were still displeased with her relationship with Jared, but Clint said, "I still love you." Clint kissed Jessica goodbye. Jessica sent Jared and Natalie upstairs to bed. She was eager to find out about the secret room.
Rex managed to call Gigi's cell phone, but Gigi had left her purse with Brody and he didn't pick up. Rex tried again and this time Brody answered, but he refused to put Gigi on the phone. "She's in the shower and I'm about to join her," he lied. "Face it, Balsom, you are living in the past." Brody hung up. Rex was very, very frustrated. Bo tried to calm his buddy, reminding him that Brody might not be telling the truth. (Of course he wasn't — Brody and Gigi were working at Rodi's.)
In 1968, Jeremiah tried to explain to Bo and Rex the intricacies of time travel. Bo shared that he had already tampered with history because he broke up Asa and Emma. Jeremiah said Bo had to go to the hotel and make a baby or "neither one of you are going back." Bo made plans to go over to the hotel and "father Vickers. Then we can go back and you can see the real Gigi." Bo left the diner. Jeremiah gave Rex the book. He realized that the author of the book, Delbert Doolittle Phina, and that name sounded familiar. "Delphina?" he said as he turned the book over and saw a man who looked liked Delphina.
Gigi wanted to take Layla's order. Layla was waiting for Vincent, and she became furious when another woman showed up calling herself Vincent's girlfriend. Vincent told Layla that had she been more available, then maybe this wouldn't have happened. "Don't make this my fault," Layla cried. She broke up with him on the spot at Rodi's. Vincent begged to make it up to her, but Layla said no, her face covered with tears. Vincent left. Gigi came to take her order. "Enjoying yourself?" Layla asked. "No. I know how you feel," Gigi responded. Gigi soon had another customer, Delphina. When Gigi asked if she could take her order, Delphina suggested it might be the other way around.
At the airport, David Vickers and doggie DV got ready to board a plane.
David walked by a mirror and saw no reflection. He was worried. He also passed a group of nuns who were taking donations. He wanted to give them doggie DV, but they said they weren't taking animals. David got them to change their minds, and he left the dog. David ran into Viki, who was going to Africa. David was sorry things didn't work out with Charlie. "But since you are back on the market..." David smiled. Viki wasn't interested. When David kissed her goodbye, he saw that his reflection had returned in the mirror. At the airport, Viki ran into Tina and everyone else who was returning from Mendorra.
Blair arrived at Todd's with the white nightgown. She insisted on going upstairs to see who was there. Todd's bodyguard wouldn't let her up, despite her attempts to flirt with him. Blair offered herself to him. He wasn't interested but then suggested she try on the nightgown. She tried it on and as she modeled it, Todd returned home, stopping Blair in her tracks.
Earlier, Cris brought Sarah into the cabin of the plane. Sarah told the story of how she survived, and how she managed to get to the airstrip, where they found her. She asked where Talia was. Cris gave her a big kiss, so happy to have found her. Cris told his big brother he'd be okay. Tina told Sarah she would have gladly gone over the falls in her place. Sarah smiled, "You are being such a mom." Cain looked at the jewels in his pockets. Sarah caught him. "You have the jewels. That's why you went back," Tina scolded. "Honey, I was doing it for us," he claimed. Sarah didn't believe him. Tina remembered that Cain had the fake jewels, so she happily went along with his plan to keep them. "What do you think if we give the jewels to charity when we return to Llanview?" Tina suggested to Cain. "What are we going to do about getting Talia back?" Sarah asked. She reminded Antonio that Talia was tough, and she'd survive. Cain reappeared dressed in a parachute jumper outfit. He leapt out of the plane with the jewels in his pockets. "You know you are still hung up on Cord," he said to Tina before leaving. "Mom, are you still into Dad?" Sarah asked. Tina didn't want any more men at the moment. She vowed to find doggie David Vickers (who had the real jewels in his coat).
Thursday
Rex began reading Professor Phina's book on time travel. Rex asked Bo if he had slept with Emma and if that relationship is now over. "Yeah, it's over," Bo shrugged. Emma followed him and demanded an answer. "First you break up with me, then you want to sleep with me," she scolded. Later, Rex called Delbert Phina from the pay phone. He pointed out to Bo that there was a connection between this professor and Delphina in Llanview, circa 2008. The professor showed up at the diner. Rex and Bo tried to explain what happened when they were struck by lightening in 2008. He started laughing. "You are aware that the year we are in is 1968," he said. "So you are saying you are time travelers?" Rex showed him his cell phone. "I've never met anyone who had gone through the portal," he marveled. Prof. Phina assured them that they could get back home.
Todd asked why Blair was wearing a white nightgown in his house. "That's not yours," he reminded his ex. Blair asked Todd about the nightgown. Todd pretended to know nothing, but Blair reminded him that he purchased it. "I guess I had picked up one of your packages by mistake," she said. Blair wanted to meet "this lady and warn her about this man she's about to get involved with. Does she know all the horrible things you've done over the years?" Blair asked. Todd showed Blair the door. "Todd, you are going to mess things up," she warned.
At the airport, Viki, who was heading out of town, ran into Tina, Sarah, Cristian and Antonio, who were returning from their nightmare in Mendorra.
Tina tried to explain why she was pretending to be a Princess of Mendorra.
Tina admitted that she said, "I love you, Cord" instead of "I love you, Cain,"
when she was about to be beheaded. Tina thought it was very significant slip of the tongue. She thought these feelings were bubbling up because she had been spending so much time with Sarah. Viki said she understood. Tina asked Viki who she was running away from. "Who's the guy?" she asked. Viki said she was going on a heart transplant tour. Tina said she no longer needs a man. Viki didn't believe her. Viki said she had had a dream about Niki Smith the other night and wished she could remember what it had been about. Viki explained to Tina that she didn't think Jessica would ever be the same after Nash's death. Tina said the first thing she going to do was find David Vickers. Viki was horrified until Tina explained that it was David Vickers, her dog. Tina remembered sewing the real jewels into his doggie coat. Just then, Tina walked by the nuns and found doggie David Vickers. "This is dog is going to bring joy to an unfortunate soul," the nun said. "I am that unfortunate soul," Tina replied, as she made a donation to the nuns so she could get doggie David back. Tina then headed over to Llanfair, dog in tow. "Your Aunt Tina is moving in, and her little dog, too," she told a surprised Jessica.
Delphina showed up at Rodi's and told Gigi that she could help her find Rex.
She wanted $50 first. "Well, you are just a little hustler, aren't you?" Gigi said. Delphina told Gigi to ask the officer, meaning Brody, about the phone call "you missed." Gigi looked at Brody, who was talking to Layla at the bar.
Gigi asked him about the phone call. Layla offered Brody some advice about changing for himself, not for someone else.
After being paid $50, Delphina explained that a portal had opened. Gigi told Delphina about the phone call with Rex. Delphina got a message from the spirit world. "Oh, 1968, why didn't you tell me that the first time?" she said. Gigi returned to Delphina and said she believed her and begged her to help her go back to 1968. Delphina said she would help her time travel.
Rocco, the local mechanic, came by with the update on the condition of Natalie's car. "Someone tried to kill them," he said, "and when I leave here I'm going straight to the police." That wasn't what Tess wanted to hear. "Oh, my God, please come in," Tess insisted. "Are you saying my mother's accident wasn't really an accident?" she said, pretending to be shocked. Tess took the police report from Rocco. She gave him a nice big check. "That's a bonus for keeping it confidential," she smiled. Tess asked Rocco if he knew anyone in the construction business. He just had a cousin who makes concrete. Tess was eager to put that mysterious secret room in Llanfair back in action.
Friday
In 1968, Bo/Rex studied the book on time travel while Asa/Bo read the newspaper. Clint/Jared and young Chuck grabbed Bo. "You're in the army now," they said. Bo/Rex looked ill at the thought of his future in Vietnam. Bo/Rex didn't want to go, and begged to be sent to Canada. Asa/Bo played the Asa
role firmly. "A real man doesn't run from the fight," Asa/Bo snarled. Prof. Phina arrived and said he would figure out a way to "catapult you back to the future." Asa/Bo tried to explain Prof. Phina to the rest of the people in the room. Great confusion followed. Asa/Bo told Clint/Jared to go to that
livestock auction. Rex/Bo grabbed Phina and demanded that he help them get back. "I must make sure that you haven't altered history while you were here," he said. Bo/Rex explained that Asa/Bo hadn't slept with Emma to
create David Vickers. "I think we can get around this Vicker's situation," he said. Bo/Rex begged Asa/Bo to stop being so mean. Asa/Bo prevented Maria/Natalie from telling Clint/Jared about her pregnancy. Asa/Bo insisted Clint/Jared go to the auction. "I'll be back," Clint/Jared said. Asa/Bo told Maria/Natalie to get as far away "from my son and you can never come back." Maria/Natalie looked devastated. Phina had never heard of two people passing through the portal, thought. "I love your son," Maria insisted, "I am carrying your grandchild." Asa/Bo gave Maria a wad of money and demanded she go. Maria wasn't going anywhere until she could tell Clint/Jared she was pregnant. "If you love Clint, you will get out of his life," Asa/Bo said. Maria took the money and ran.
Rex showed Phina his cell phone. "The portal," he announced. Phina wanted to go to 2008 with them. Asa/Bo returned. "We're good to go," Asa/Bo said. "You really should be there tonight," Phina told them.
At Gigi's, Brody told Shane that Gigi was going off to find Rex. Shane wondered why Gigi had to leave. "Doesn't he have a mom," Shane asked and demanded that she not go. Gigi was flabbergasted at that request. Gigi explained that she had to help Rex, her friend. Gigi pointed out to Shane that her helping Rex "wasn't changing anything in your life." Delphina came by to pick up Gigi. Gigi told Delphina she couldn't commit to "this trip" unless she could know how she's getting there and how she's getting back. "We need to find that conduit," Delphina said. But there was one small problem. "You need to pay me five grand," she said. "Are you crazy?" Gigi answered. "Aren't you doing this to find your son's real father?" Delphina asked a surprised Gigi. "You are good," Gigi added but said she didn't have five thousand dollars to pay her. "Sorry," Delphina left.
Brody promised he'd never leave Shane. "When your mom leaves, we'll be men about it," Brody said to Shane. Gigi was sorry to have upset Shane as she wasn't going anywhere. (No money, see above.) Brody gave Gigi a check. His VA benefits. "I've been hoarding them for a rainy day," Brody said. Delphina returned. "Well done officer. I had a feeling you might come through," Delphina winked. Gigi gave Shane a goodbye hug and left with Delphina. "If we don't leave now we won't reach Rex in time," Delphina said as Gigi went with her.
Sarah woke up next to Cristian. She had a nightmare about going over the falls. Sarah wondered if Talia would be stuck in Mendorra forever. Cris was sure that Antonio would get her out.
Tina happily took the jewels out of Doggie David Vickers's dog coat. She put the jewels in the safe. Tess wanted Tina out. Natalie and Jared came into the living room. Tess did a 180 and pretended everything was great with auntie Tina. Natalie was introduced, as was Jared. "Your boyfriend is to die
for," Tina said. Tina wondered how long it took for Jessica and Natalie to bond. Tina asked Jessica if it was okay between them. Jessica (actually Tess) said it was. Tina asked if Natalie was as happy with Jared as Sarah was with Cristian. "Yeah, I am," Natalie said, and Tess gave her a creepy look. Natalie failed to tell her new aunt Tina that she had once been
married to Cris. Oh well, she'll find out eventually. Sarah and Cris visited Tina. Jessica grabbed a contractor's business card. Tina announced she would be staying in Llanview forever.
John was stunned with the news that Talia was Hesser's daughter. He also heard all about Ramsey, Ramsey's death and their adventure in Mendorra. The mayor barged in. "No one from this department is setting foot in Mendorra,"
he said. "Ramsey was a real disappointment," the Mayor said as he appointed John the new commissioner. "Why me?" John asked. "You have connections," the Mayor said as he left the office.
