One Life To Live Recaps

OLTL Week of July 21, 2008

Monday

The 40th anniversary episode opened with two blonde women watching a TV, on which Dorian pronounced Viki dead. The older woman told the younger, "I think you should go get her." Dorian then saw a deceased Mel, who was determined to have a conversation with her. The older woman changed the channel to Carlo and Cristian; Carlo informed Cristian that he still has a computer chip in his head. Cristian punched Carlo. A confused Viki arrived in Heaven where she recognized the blonde who met her. Viki noted how much the woman looked like Jessica. She told her she should — she's Megan, Jessica's daughter. Megan informed Viki that she was transitioning between lives. Viki noted that Megan should only be 10, but Megan said time moved differently in Heaven. Viki asked Megan where they were going; "All the way to the top," she replied. But they had some stops to make...

First up was Asa Buchanan. Viki happily greeted him. He said he was on hold with God. Viki told him about the accident. Asa asked where Dorian was. She said maybe in Hell, but later conceded that Dorian might still be alive. Viki apologized for what happened with BE. Asa said that Clint was on it, and that his son reminded him of himself. Viki retorted that's what she was afraid of. The two admitted that they missed each other. Megan and Viki reconnected in the elevator. Viki couldn't get over how much her granddaughter looked like Jessica.
Megan pushed Viki out of the elevator, where her clothes had changed. Then she saw Elvis! Niki Smith's head popped up from behind the couch. She informed a shocked Viki that she goes where Viki goes and that includes Heaven! Niki asked Viki what she was doing there. Viki had no idea, but told her alter about Jessica losing Nash and being pregnant. Niki warned that Jessica will deal with her problems by calling Tess out. Viki claimed Tess was dead. Oh yeah? queried Niki.

Viki then arrived at "The Banner," where it was revealed that Mel was out chasing some big story. Viki and Megan arrived at the television studio where young Megan said Viki's daughter Megan was the executive producer, but currently at a network meeting. Viki then met the creator and "Big Cheese." "Hello, Victoria," she said. "I'm Agnes." Agnes revealed that Megan talks about Viki, and that Agnes had been watching over her for 40 years (although technically only 38). Agnes showed a video that Viki's daughter and granddaughter had made for her, which included when Megan and Viki fought. Viki was hurt by the video and did not know why Megan chose that. Her granddaughter claimed that her daughter loved her. Young Megan advised Viki to think about forgiveness. Viki asked Megan how could she give Charlie another chance? Megan took her to the elevator.
Viki walked into CrossRoads and picked up a pool ball. Ben stood up behind her. "Hiya, Blondie..."

Dorian could not believe her eyes — it was Mel! "Do you know of any other dead, alcoholic reporters that you're married to?" he quipped. Dorian hugged him. He told her that he knew what she did to Charlie. Mel was angry because she knew how hard it was for him to stay off the booze, yet had sabotaged Charlie. Mel asked why it was so important for her to take over BE. She said it was for the money. He said it was because of Clint. Why was she with Clint anyway? She asked how she was supposed to react after Mel's death. Should she have shut down? Mel told her to stop living her life in reaction to Viki. He called her insecure. Mel added that he knew she saw some good in Charlie. Dorian concluded that Mel wanted her to admit her feelings for Charlie and step out of Viki's shadow. Mel informed her it was her last chance to atone. She broke down when she saw Viki in the driver's seat, dead. She realized that everyone will blame her. Mel told her, "Well, you will just have to bring her back, won't you?"

Over in Mendorra, Carlo forced Cristian, Sarah and Tina to come with him.
The guards continued their strong-arming of Sarah and Cristian as Carlo informed Tina this was payback for what she did to Johnny Dee — seducing and killing him. Tina clarified that it was Niki Smith who killed him. Carlo did not care. Tina wanted to know where Carlo was taking them. She heard the falls. "Does it give you that sick feeling of déjà vu?" he taunted. Tina relived her memory of going over the falls. She begged Carlo not to do that to her; he retorted that Sarah was going this time. Tina begged for Sarah's life, as Carlo ordered the guards to tie Sarah to the boat. Sarah tried to fight back, and Tina offered to switch places. Sarah was chained to the boat and pushed off into the water. She told Tina that she loved her.

In 1968, the maid was watching OLTL where Victor told Viki that she would take over The Banner. Chuck and others dragged in Rex and Bo. Chuck asked Bo if he knew what year it was. Bo told him it was 2008. Bo woke up Rex, and Chuck told them it was actually 1968. Then the first version of the OLTL credits ran — the title in front of a roaring fire. Bo told Chuck not to joke about what year it was. Rex got all up worked up over the fact that they were struck by lightning. Meanwhile, he and Rex began to argue over Bo taking the ride despite Delphina's warning. Next, Chuck referred to Rex as "Bo" and Bo as "Asa." Bo could not believe that he was "Asa." Rex could not believe it was 1968. Chuck revealed he was not Chuck the Third, he was Chuck Jr! Bo ordered the men to get his horses. Bo told Rex to turn on the TV, but Rex did not know how without a remote. Bo did it, and they waited for it to warm up (!). Again, credits for OLTL ran. Rex changed the channel and they saw news about the man who shot Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Bo and Rex tried to figure out how they got to 1968. Jared came tumbling in, and referred to Bo as "Paw" and Rex as "Little Brother." Bo informed Rex that they were not in Kansas anymore. Bo tested "Clint" by asking him the names of the dogs. "Clint" got "Chuck Jr." to bring them some drinks. "Chuck Sr." showed up, looking like Nigel. "Maria" brought in food; Rex pointed out that it was Natalie. "Clint" greeted her, and Bo explained that "Maria" is Cord's mother and Sarah's grandmother. Bo clarified the history of Clint and Maria to Rex. "Chuck Sr." informed "Asa" of "Clint's" habits of nosing around the hired help. "Asa" and "Bo" announced they were going to sleep. Rex and Bo attempted to make sense of their situation. There was a knock on the door — there stood Gigi and Shane. "Morasco," Rex sighed with relief. Neither recognized him. They brushed past him to "Asa." Gigi said she had a bone to pick with him.

Tuesday

During the opening of the second episode celebrating OLTL's 40th anniversary, creator Agnes Nixon summarized yesterday's episode.

Viki, now dressed in white, was thrilled to see Ben. He asked her to play pool and bragged he could handle Niki Smith — as long as there were no open windows. The couple reminisced about the first time they met. Ben
informed Viki she could not stay in Heaven; she needed to go back. She refused. Ben asked why she could forgive him, but not Charlie. He reminded her that she was a fighter, and there was nothing to fight in Heaven. Ben encouraged Viki to search their heart for the answer. Viki wanted to stay with him, but he explained their time was over. She and Charlie, however, had more to their story. Young Megan showed up on the television over the bar, and surprised Viki with a montage of her and Ben's love story. Ben and Viki said goodbye with a kiss, and then she surfaced in the elevator. Viki admitted dying was hard. Megan responded that it was change that was hard. The elevator suddenly stalled (because Dorian was having trouble saving Viki's life on earth, read on!) but after a moment of panic began to move again. Viki and her granddaughter shared a hug, ending Viki's journey to heaven.

Dorian could not figure out how to save Viki. After encouragement from Mel, she attempted CPR, but Viki would not wake up. Dorian pronounced her dead as David came out of the trees, visibly upset. David pleaded with Dorian to save Viki, and agreed to divorce Addie if she did. A heartbroken Dorian realized how much David loved Viki, but he promised that Dorian always had a place in his heart. She took David at his word, and after seeing Mel standing behind him, she began to work. Dorian pulled a huge syringe out of her bag — the miracle that David was asking for — and jammed it into Viki's chest. Viki began to slowly wake up, much to David's relief. Mel told Dorian he was proud of her, then exited. She blew him a tearful kiss good-bye.

In 1968, Gigi ripped into Bo for sleeping with her and then ditching her. Gigi told them that she was one of Renee's girls from the whorehouse in Nevada. Rex got flustered when Bo (as Asa) called Gigi "Honey." Gigi continued to reprimand "Asa" for running out on her — and revealed herself to be "Emma Bradley," his true love. That made Shane "Spencer Truman"! Gigi wanted to know how "Bo" knew "Spencer's" last name, but "Asa" could not remember "Emma's" name. "Emma" noticed "Asa" did not have a wedding ring on, and thought he should propose to her. "Emma" wanted to know why "Asa" kept calling "Bo" Balsom. "Asa" told her it's from the Bible. "Asa" told "Emma" what happened earlier that night during the storm, but she informed him that was no excuse. "Emma" declared she was tired and was leaving. "Bo" asked where they were staying. Paris, Texas! Rex expressed his distaste over the fact that Gigi was in love with Bo; Bo promised not to sleep with her. Bo tired to separate fact from what they were seeing. Rex realized that Bo needs to sleep with Gigi in order for David to be born. The boys decided they could live without that.

"Clint" followed "Maria" around, while the other maid informed him he must leave "Maria" alone or Asa will have her deported. "Clint" left, but only after telling "Maria" to sneak up to his bedroom later that night. "Maria" told her companion that she was pregnant, and she would name the child Cordero.

Back in 2008, Clint attempted to reach Bo, but received a call from Cord instead. Cord expressed worry over how Sarah was dealing with Nash's death. Clint informed him that Bo was MIA, but Rex was out looking for him. Clint noted that Rex reminded Bo of Drew, his son. Clint expressed the fact that he wished he had known that Maria was pregnant with Cord. Cord said he was still worried about Sarah, and had not heard from Tina in a while. Clint tried to comfort Cord by declaring that Cristian and Sarah were probably off on a romantic trip. Cord then called Clint "Paw," acknowledging that Clint was now the head of the family, taking Asa's place.

Meanwhile, Cristian punched out the guard in Mendorra and tried to get to Sarah. She cried that if this was good-bye, then she loved him. She kept repeating herself, until he returned the sentiment. Carlo snarked that the scene was touching, and attempted to shoot Cristian. Tina took him out. Cristian jumped into the river and swam towards Sarah. He made it, but Carlo pointed out that Cristian could not stop her from going over the falls. Cristian worked to free Sarah, but the couple ended up floating down the waterfall.

Agnes Nixon ended the show by musing that there was no way Sarah and Cristian could have survived, but at least Viki had lived. Erika Slezak (Viki) then showed up and sat next to Ms. Nixon. The duo turned to the camera and wished OLTL a Happy Anniversary.

Wednesday

David and Dorian rushed Viki to the emergency room. Dorian told Michael about the accident and that she brought her back with the heart medicine. David thanked Dorian for saving Viki's life. Dorian reminded him that he now had to divorce Addie. Michael reported that Dorian had indeed saved Viki's life. A young man named Carl walked up to them. Dorian introduced him as someone from "my attorney's office. He's going to handle your divorce." Dorian insisted that David sign annulment papers. "She's going to be really disappointed," David sighed as he signed the papers. David admitted that he liked Addie. Clint called David who demanded he come over immediately. But before leaving the hospital, he went in to see Viki. "Obviously, you came back for me," David quipped. He explained that Dorian had saved her life. Viki's eyes grew wider and wider. He kissed Viki goodbye and headed over to Clint's, who promptly offered David $10 million to divorce Addie.

Michael told Viki that she was lucky to be alive and that she had been clinically dead for a time. Viki asked how Dorian was and learned she was okay.

Marty and Todd watched TV with the sound off. They were drinking wine and chatting. Marty asked if she could help as Todd was clearly upset about something. Todd explained that his 16-year-old daughter was pregnant and there was nothing she could do. Todd didn't tell Marty who the father was, though he had no trouble bashing him. He further explained that Starr wanted to give the baby to John McBain's brother. Marty wondered how John managed to spin things so Todd was made out to be the bad guy and John the good one. She attempted to cheer up Todd. "Spoken like a true shrink," he remarked. "I'm a shrink?" she asked angrily. "What else have you been holding out on me?" Todd wondered if she was remembering anything. "Why? Does that worry you?" she wondered.
Marty peppered Todd with questions about her college life. As he began to exercise Marty's legs, she asked if she had liked to party as a college student. Todd claimed Marty was his tutor. "We were friends?" she asked. "We slept together," he told a stunned Marty, who admitted she didn't remember that at all. "I was a bit of a bitch back then?" Marty asked while laughing. She begged Todd to help her fill in the missing pieces of her life. "Did something happen to make me go from party girl to doctor?" she asked. "Yes, something happened," Todd admitted. Marty asked to know what happened. "You were raped," Todd replied.

Starr asked Langston how things were with Markko. Langston showed her friend the video she had made when she tried to seduce David. She explained that she had tried to set up David for Dorian. The two girls began giggling.
Langston pointed out that Starr was starting to show. Starr grabbed her stomach and wondered if her baby would hate her for giving him up. "That's heavy," Langston observed. Starr wondered if she'd ever be able to explain why she did what she did. Inspired, she began to make a videotape for her unborn baby.

Marcie brought Mike some clean clothes. John was glad to get them for his brother. "He's pretty smelly," he laughed. "I'd like my husband back,"
Marcie admitted. John tried to explain that Cole has his own reasons for not wanting to give the baby up. John asked Marcie if she was sure she wanted to adopt Starr's baby. Marcie insisted that Michael was just scared and that he'll accept the idea of being a father again. John listened intently. Marcie knew that adopting Starr's baby might mean the end of her marriage.

Clint told Nora about his conversation with Cord. Clint realized that there was no fast way they could nullify Dorian's takeover of Buchanan Enterprises. Clint didn't want to tell David he was a Buchanan yet, and added that he hadn't been able to contact Rex or Bo. Clint thought he might approach David with a money offer. Nora thought it was a brilliant plan but asked Clint where he'd get the money. "Dorian Lord," Clint said without missing a beat. He explained that he would get David to divorce Addie and that Dorian would no doubt give Clint money to make that happen.

Thursday

Starr continued making her video for her baby. She began to cry as she talked about giving the baby up for adoption. Langston cried as she watched her friend open up to the video camera. Starr assured her unborn baby that he/she was not a mistake and that she will love its father for the rest of her life.
Langston attempted to get Starr to understand Cole's point of view. A furious Starr told Langston to get out of her room. Langston hugged her friend and tried to get her to call Cole.

Cole told Markko he wants to start doing things for himself. Markko reminded his friend that trying to work with Todd was fruitless — Mr. Manning only does things for Mr. Manning. Markko didn't know why Cole had made a deal with the devil. He asked Cole if the baby was more important than Starr. Cole denied it, but Markko pointed out that bonding with Todd was sending Starr that message. He dared Cole to call Starr and prove "that you are not like her psycho father." Cole opened his phone and then closed it. "Maybe I am," he muttered to himself.

Marty pondered Todd's pronouncement that she had been raped. Todd thought it was a blessing that she doesn't remember the rape any more. Marty demanded answers. Todd remained cagey. "You knew the guy," he hedged. Todd headed out while Marty raged. "I just want to know," she wailed. "I want to get back to my life." Eyes filled with tears, she demanded to know more. Todd wanted to give Marty a new life, one where "you don't have to deal with this." He offered to put her up in a place, somewhere "far from here. And you wouldn't have to deal with anyone from your past." Todd said this recent injury of hers was nothing compared to what happened in college. "Oh my God, you were there for me. You are there with all the painful memories," she reasoned. Todd let her believe that lie.

John studied the x-rays of the mysterious woman's brain. Blair appeared at his door. "I was in the 'hood," she said flirtatiously. John invited her in.
"I could use the company," he said. John explained that he was studying these accident reports. Blair didn't know why she had come over, but then added, "I'm here because I wanted to see you." John grabbed a bottle and the two headed to the roof. He asked Blair when the last time was she felt proud of what she did. She said it was when she was a reporter, but then "Todd Manning became my full-time job." Now she was busy being a wife, mother, daughter and soon-to-be grandmother. "Yikes," she said with a sip. John figures she has lots of time now to be herself. "Problem is, I really don't know who I am anymore," Blair said.

David relished the thought of getting ten million dollars. Clint said that David would have to end his marriage to Addie and get Dorian to hand over control of Buchanan Enterprises back to the Buchanans. "You wouldn't happen to have a Plan B?" David asked. "There is no Plan B," Clint explained. David turned it down, much to the shock of Clint and Nora. They reminded him that Dorian could get him back in a prison in Morocco. "I hate couscous," quipped David as he changed his mind.

Dorian went into the hospital chapel and began talking to Mel. "Good works exhaust me," she sighed. Dorian begged for him to appear again. She reported that she saved the "sainted Viki's life." She admitted that she had done a terrible thing to Charlie Banks and hoped that "today cancels it out." A nurse named Mel entered the room. "Is there something I can do for you?" she asked. Dorian clarified that she was talking to her Mel, her ex, but then thought that nurse Mel might be a messenger from the beyond. Dorian opened up to nurse Mel, explaining that she had saved Viki's life and she had rescued her sister Addie from a vile man. "But you are still guilty," nurse Mel said. Nurse Mel began acting as if she was Dorian's Mel. Eventually, Mel left. Dorian finally admitted in the chapel that she had hurt Charlie Banks and had lied to Viki about sleeping with him. "I hate it when you are right," she told Mel.

Brody announced that he'd just been to an AA meeting. Gigi was surprised and asked about it. "It wasn't my thing," he admitted. "I'm not like those people." Brody promised to deal with his problem so no one else has to. He added that he was doing this so he could be around Shane and Gigi. Brody explained that he always wanted to be back with her. Both agreed that Brody's mom had been awful to lie to both of them. Gigi explained that she had made up the story that Brody had died a hero for Shane and for herself. Brody asked why Gigi had lied to Shane about his father's paternity. Gigi said that a dead hero father was better than someone who just left town. "That's a better story for a kid," he agreed. Gigi was very grateful to Brody for coming into her life and taking care of her. She said every time she had told the story of Brody's heroism she added a little bit more.
Gigi apologized. "I set you up to fail," she said with a heavy heart. "Shane thinks you are a superhero." "Well, I came back from the dead, didn't I?" Brody replied as he went in for a kiss.

Friday

Viki thanked Dorian for saving her life. "I'm going to tell you the truth about me and Charlie," Dorian told a shocked Viki. Dorian said that she hadn't gotten drunk with Charlie, hadn't had sex, and hadn't bashed Viki. "Why did you tell all those lies to me?" Viki asked. "To get you off my back," Dorian explained. But Dorian wasn't quick to explain how and why Charlie got drunk. Dorian admitted that she sometimes talks to Mel. Viki shared that she still talks to Ben. "Mel always said I should find some common ground with you," Dorian explained. "Well, he was right. We were not always at each other's throats," Viki replied. (Great flashbacks of Dorian and Viki happy together aired.) "I'm very grateful that you are alive," Dorian added. The two shook hands in Mel's honor. Viki thanked Dorian again, who left the hospital room without telling Viki exactly how Charlie had gotten drunk. Dorian called Addie and found her at Carlotta's diner. She showed up and told Charlie about Viki's car accident. Charlie raced out. Dorian wanted to talk to Addie about her marriage.

David paid Viki a visit but when he entered her room he knocked his knee and hobbled out to bandage it. He tended to his knee and returned to Viki's room. "Where is she? Dorian?" David asked. "She's gone. Ten minutes ago,"
Viki said. "Ten million minutes ago," David said mysteriously. Charlie arrived at Viki's room and gave David a tip on where to find Dorian. David rushed to the diner and put some distance between Dorian and Addie right as Dorian was showing Addie the annulment papers.

Blair opened up to John about how she kept going back to Todd. "That's what abused wives do," Blair noted, her eyes filling with tears. John confirmed that mean husbands have a way of twisting things around to make their wives feel it is their fault. John asked Blair when she was going to start living her life as the new "Blair Cramer." John said he envied her. Blair was stunned. Blair yelled something from the rooftop. She tried to get John to yell something, but she fell into his arms instead. John and Blair started kissing. They pulled away. "Whoa," they both said — and immediately started kissing again.

Marty thought that Todd was there to help her through the aftermath of her rape. Marty asked who raped her. "Another student at LU," Todd claimed. "He hated you." Todd began to tell the story of Marty's rape but referred to himself in the third person. "You had made him feel small," Todd explained. "Tell me what happened," Marty insisted. Todd recounted her rape— her being drunk, the three rapists, the fact that she was gagged. Todd said that the guy who hated her (that would be Todd) did it first. Todd and Marty's eyes both filled with tears. Todd grabbed her hand. "That's the whole story," Todd concluded as he looked at the thunder and lightening out the window. "Are you alright? You started to remember, didn't you?" Todd asked.

Earlier, David told Clint and Nora that Addie was completely infatuated with him. "My heart really isn't in it, but if I do it, how will I know you won't stiff it?" David said of Clint's offer of $10 million. Clint handed him a check for the amount, and David danced happily off to try to scam Dorian and get BE back to the Buchanans.

Addie ran into Charlie at the diner. Addie didn't think Charlie looked that happy. Charlie replayed in his head what Brody admitted in the AA meeting, that Shane wasn't really his son. Charlie explained that what is said in AA meetings is confidential and he couldn't tell anyone, "not even the person who needs to hear it the most."

Gigi pushed Brody away when he tried to kiss her. She said she just wanted to talk, that was all. Brody told Gigi that he'd do anything for her and Shane. "I just don't feel that way about you," Gigi confessed. Brody wasn't listening. Brody reread the letter that Gigi had written him 10 years ago. "We can plan for the future when you are back here safe and sound," she said way back then. Gigi entered the living room on her way to get some water. She couldn't believe that Brody had kept the letter all those years. "Two days after I wrote that your mother told me you had been killed," Gigi remembered.
