One Life To Live Recaps

OLTL Week of June 1, 2009

Monday

Bess answered the Brennans' door to Brody and calmly informed him that no one is going to take baby Chloe away from her. He grabbed Bess in an effort to get through to Jessica, but Mr. Brennan approached with a rifle. She used Phil and Cindy's story about the state taking away Nash to get Mr. Brennan to trust her. Brody backed away, while Bess urged Phil to shoot him. Brody tried to dissuade Phil from making a huge mistake, but Cindy came up behind him and knocked him out with a vase. While Cindy was checking on him, Bess suddenly reverted to Jessica.

Stacy told Stan that she'd give him the money if he agreed to punch her. She even handed him a pair of leather gloves, promising that there'd be no evidence to connect him to the assault. Afterward, she immediately had a shiner around her eye. Stan walked off with the money, but told her she always has a job in Vegas. Stacy claimed that she had moved on with her life.

Schuyler, Rex and Gigi continued their conversation in the park, where Rex accused Schuyler of stealing Stacy's money. When Rex returned home, he noticed that Stacy seemed upset and asked her to tell him what's going on. When she turned around, he immediately saw the black eye and asked who did that to her. She told a whole long story about Stan's threats. Rex assumed that Stan had seen him with Gigi at the park and immediately blamed himself for Stan attacking her. She managed to get Rex to give her a massage, and it was clear that he was playing right into her hands.

Back at Schuyler's, he and Gigi lamented that Stacy and Rex are not acting like the people they fell in love with, respectively. Schuyler checked the refrigerator and noticed that Stacy's blood samples were missing. Gigi started to wonder if Schuyler was making this whole thing up. He assured her that he wasn't, and guessed that Stacy (the only person other than Roxy who has keys) took the bag of blood. Gigi apologized for doubting him, then wondered who really did save her child's life.

Starr asked Cole why he was so quiet. He said he was happy to hear the news about Hope and would be in touch after his drug test. Starr sat in the foyer wringing her hands, while Michael and Marcie waited in the living room with John and Todd for word of Hope's whereabouts. As Blair and Starr recalled the day Hope was born, Todd overheard Starr say that she wished her dad was there for her that day. Meanwhile, Todd managed to make Marcie and Michael feel so uncomfortable that they decided to wait at home. As soon as they were gone, Todd got up to go see Té, but Blair suggested that he stay. Starr expressed her confusion over the situation but said she didn't blame Todd for what happened with the baby switch. Back at the Angel Square Hotel, Michael was elated but Marcie wondered if the news about Hope was a good thing.

Marty accompanied Cole to the rehab center for his drug test. During a private chat with Rachel, he revealed what he'd just learned about his baby and admitted to being concerned about who would raise Hope if she returned. Marty ran into John in the parking lot and asked if he has an answer to her question, but he didn't. He gave her some comforting words about Cole, while Rachel challenged Cole to admit what he really wants for Hope.

Jessica rushed to an unconscious Brody's side and showed genuine concern for the boyfriend she wanted to get rid of five minutes earlier. When the Brennans realized that Jessica didn't even know her they were, they began to call the hotline, but Bess prevailed. After cutting the phone line, she grabbed the baby and wished them well. Just as she was about to walk out the door, however, police swarmed the house.

Tuesday

Blair comforted her anxious daughter and said they'd deal with handing Hope over to Marcie when the time comes. Dorian returned home and was thrilled to see that Blair was safe and sound after her kidnapping ordeal. Blair explained to Langston and Dorian that something more important has happened: They learned that Starr's baby is alive! Langston and Dorian were thrilled, although Dorian was miffed with Viki's daughter for taking the tot. Starr beseeched Dorian to consider Jessica's feelings in all of this, too, and said she doesn't blame Jessica.

Rachel took Cole out for dinner at the café an effort to get his mind off his missing child. Markko was nervous when he realized he was their waiter, but Rachel told him not to worry. Nora stopped and offered Cole her support. While Cole was talking to Markko, Nora and Rachel marveled over the baby situation and expressed their concerns for Jessica. Rachel wondered how all the drama was affecting Nora's relationship with Clint. She explained that Clint had to run off to Virginia to search for Hope, but that they have decided to get married. Rachel didn't even know that Clint had proposed and wondered why the sudden desire to get hitched. Nora revealed that she and Bo had nearly kissed, which basically prompted Clint's unexpected proposal. Rachel urged Nora to think about her real motives for marrying Clint, but Nora tried to deflect her questions by asking Rachel about her love life. Rachel announced that it's nonexistent and turned the conversation back to Nora/Bo/Clint.

Starr privately admitted to Langston that she's not entirely committed to giving Marcie her baby, while Dorian revealed to Blair that she and Lang were visiting Lola at St. Ann's. Starr confided her fears to Langston about the progress she and Cole had made. Starr suddenly realized she hadn't even asked Langston about her romantic night with Markko, so they sat down to gab about everything. Langston said the evening was great, but that Lola wasn't. Meanwhile, Markko asked Cole how he's feeling about the baby. Cole wasn't thrilled about giving Hope to Marcie, but said he would stand by Starr no matter what.

Viki, Clint, Bo and the cops surrounded the Brennans' house in the rain. Jared, Natalie and Charlie arrived shortly thereafter. Inside, Phil and Cindy refused to help Bess escape, while Brody came to and grabbed Bess from behind. He tried to get Jessica to emerge, but Bess ran upstairs and locked her and Hope in a bedroom. Bo and the rest of the gang entered the house and considered breaking down the door and forcing Jessica out. Viki stepped forward and came up with a radical idea, while Tess tried to reason with Bess to let the baby go and let Jessica face the truth. Bo gave Viki 15 minutes to work her magic, so she snatched Clint's glasses and headed upstairs. Outside the bedroom, she announced, "It's Jean Randolph" in a curt tone. Doing an impersonation of her alter ego, Viki tried to talk her way into the room. Natalie and Jared explained to Phil and Cindy, who were understandably confused, that they do have a granddaughter and that Bree is a terrific little girl. Brody, meanwhile, told Bo he can only hope that Jessica will come back to him when this mess is over. As Viki kept talking to Bess, the door to the bedroom suddenly opened.

Wednesday

Jessica (as Bess) listened to Viki's impersonation of Jean Randolph and opened the door to the bedroom. Bess accused Jean of not being able to maintain control of Viki's darkest secret. "Jean" tried to convince her that there is nowhere for her to go and nothing left for her to do but accept the truth. Viki had to collect herself as she considered the pain it would cause Jessica. "What happens then ... Viki?" Bess hinted. Viki apologized for fooling her and suggested that Bess gave her a chance to speak because she secretly agreed with what Viki had to say. Viki grabbed her daughter and begged Jessica to come out. Jess was scared, but finally she allowed Viki to remove the glasses.

At the Angel Square Hotel, Schuyler surprised Kyle from behind and demanded he hand over Stacy's blood samples. Fish came on the scene and asked what was going on. Kyle demanded an apology from Schuyler, who gave him a rather insincere one. Kyle thanked Fish for covering for him, but Fish told him it didn't mean anything.

Rex set Stacy up in his bed and treated the bruised beauty like a princess. While Rex was out running her errands, Stacy received a call from Kyle warning her that Gigi and Schuyler are onto her. When he suggested that she took the blood, she had no idea what he was talking about.

Marcie and Gigi talked at Rodi's, and Marcie copped to sympathizing with Jessica for running off with Hope. Schuyler arrived and pulled Gigi aside. After he claimed that Kyle isn't the right person to go after, she proposed they head over to Rex's loft and sneak in with her key. Michael rushed in to see Marcie and announced that Bo has located Jessica and Hope. He excitedly suggested that they go buy a crib, but Marcie seemed hesitant.

Clint sulked outside of the Brennans' house and refused Natalie's offer of a shoulder to cry on. She recalled taking care of Roxy when she was a kid, which led to a speech about how all of this is her fault. Clint told Natalie that he's proud of her for protecting her sister. Meanwhile, Brody confided his fears to Charlie about what would happen to Jessica once she learns the truth. Upstairs, Viki managed to get Jessica to emerge and begged her daughter to recall what happened the night Chloe was born. Jessica broke down as she tried to remember, so Viki began the story for her. Jessica buckled over in pain as she flashed back to going into labor and imagining Niki Smith next to her. "It's a girl!" she suddenly cried. "She's so beautiful, but ... she's not crying." Viki beseeched her to speak the truth, and Jessica finally said it: "My baby's dead."

Thursday

Thinking no one was home, Gigi and Schuyler walked into Rex's loft to find him caressing Stacy in bed. Gigi was disgusted, but Rex claimed nothing was going on, noting that it's not her business anyway. Schuyler noticed Stacy's black eye and jumped to conclusions, but Rex explained that Stan hit her because Schuyler stole all the money she owed him. Schuyler denied stealing any money and claimed he knows that Stan would never hit a woman. Gigi announced that she's there to convince Rex that Stacy is a conniving liar, then went to look for Shane's baseball glove. An argument between Gigi and Stacy ensued, and suddenly they were on the sofa in a catfight. Once the guys broke it up, Rex barked at Gigi to leave her key. She tossed it in his direction and stalked off, with Schuyler trailing behind. Afterward, Stacy tried to gain Rex's sympathy, while Gigi surprised Schuyler with a sample of Stacy's hair.

Layla and Cristian hosted an open house to find a third roommate and were surprised to discover that Fish was their first applicant. Although Layla was skeptical, Cristian urged her to consider the idea of Fish living with them. When he offered to help them fix their cable situation, the idea of having a resident tech wiz seemed appealing. Layla and Cristian settled on their new roommate, and Layla offered him Talia's old room, which Fish considered an honor. Soon, they were all fighting over the remote.

Moe and Noelle cooked up a giant meal at La Boulaie to distract Starr and Cole from their missing child. Noelle talked about how excited Marcie would be to finally get her baby back, and Markko suggested they change the subject. Moe pulled Noelle away as she prattled on about how Starr made the right decision to let Marcie adopt the baby. Starr and Cole exchanged awkward looks.

Rachel accompanied Matthew to La Boulaie, which delighted Shaun. Destiny followed and announced to Shaun that their brother Gregory is coming to town and is going to help Matthew. Shaun advised her not to get her hopes up. Matthew congratulated Starr on the good news and offered to help. He phoned Bo to get an update on Hope, and Starr was thrilled to hear that the baby was safe. While Destiny was visiting with Matthew, Shaun caught up Rachel on his family drama, then asked her to attend a show with him at Capricorn. She asked if it was a date, just as Destiny proposed to Matthew that they hang out that night, too. Noelle returned to the kitchen table with more food for the teens, and made a few more awkward remarks about Marcie and the baby.

Bo explained to Clint that Jessica is in serious trouble with the law, and because she crossed state lines, the FBI are on their way. Upstairs, Jessica sobbed in Viki's arms as she came to terms with her baby's death. She recalled taking the lifeless child to the hospital because she knew Starr had gone into labor, and grabbing Starr's baby to leave her own there. Jessica crawled over to the baby's playpen and sobbed, "Oh, Chloe. I'm so sorry." Natalie and Jared sat by Brody's side, to his surprise. Brody said he understood why Natalie and Jared tried to protect Jessica and promised to be there for her when this is over. Charlie, meanwhile, suggested to the Brennans that they plan a trip to Llanview when things calm down. They were delighted with the idea of meeting their real grandchild, Bree.

Bo and Clint agreed it was time to end Viki and Jessica's confrontation, so Clint headed upstairs. Jessica held the baby and stated one more time what happened. Viki allowed Clint into the room and explained that Jessica is fully aware of the situation. Viki approached her daughter, who was pained to let the baby go, then threw herself into Clint's comforting arms. Everyone stood still as the three of them came downstairs with the child. Bo alerted Starr to the good news that Hope will be home soon, and Clint escorted Jessica to the car.

Friday

While Jessica was sleeping off some sedatives, Viki explained to Dr. Levin that Jessie is fully aware of the things she did as Tess and Bess. She expressed her certainty that Jessica has no more secrets and that she could be fully integrated. Clint, however, was less sure of Jessica's chances at such a quick recovery. Jessica walked in and presented them with a list of Chloe's likes, dislikes, routine, etc. She felt horrible when Viki remarked that Jessica had been a good mother to Chloe/Hope. Viki went to retrieve the child so that Jessica could say good-bye, while Jess explained to Bree that her sister is going to live with her "other" mother. Viki and Clint bonded over the baby as they prepared to bid her farewell.

In anticipation of Hope's homecoming, Marcie and Michael struggled to put together a crib when they were interrupted by Todd's unwelcome visit. Michael immediately jumped all over Todd, assuming he was there to fight for Hope, but Todd assured them that Hope will soon be in their custody. He then handed Marcie and Michael a check and urged them to make their apartment "less grimy." Though it came off as crass, it was his weird way of making amends. They humored him by taking the check, but said they weren't going to cash it just yet.

Marty and Cole stopped by Rodi's for breakfast. John revealed that he has something for John and the two stepped outside. Marty approached Brody and asked how Jessica is doing. He reported that she was exhausted when they got home and didn't have much to say. Marty assured Brody that he is what Jessica needs right now. Outside, John gave Cole a book of Patrick's poetry, so Cole read a selection aloud. They returned to the bar and Cole announced to his mom that he's ready to see Hope. Afterward, John complimented Brody on his detective skills and gave him the rest of the afternoon off. Before Brody went on his way, he advised John not to let "that woman" get away.

Starr looked over the adoption papers and revealed to her mother that she'd never signed them. Blair asked Starr if she's certain this is what she wants. She explained that Cole wants to keep the baby but that she made a promise to Marcie. She recalled what it was like to be pregnant and how her feelings toward the baby had changed after that. Blair urged Starr to think about what she, and no one else wants for a moment. Todd walked in and asked what was wrong when he saw Starr crying. She insisted that she was just feeling emotional but will be fine. Cole arrived and they stole some time alone in the living room to prepare for giving up their baby.

After they assembled Hope's crib, Michael got caught up in the moment and bent down on one knee to propose again to Marcie. Meanwhile, Blair and Todd arrived at Llanfair to pick up Hope. Jessica had a hard time letting her go but managed to hand her over to Blair. Todd nodded sympathetically as Jessica explained all the things about Hope that they might need to know. Jessica ran upstairs to collect herself and arrived at the empty nursery, while Clint embraced a tearful Viki. Brody came over and ran upstairs to check on Jessica, who was crying in a heap on the floor.
