One Life To Live Recaps

OLTL Week of November 17, 2008

Monday

At the police station, John informed Blair and Nora that Marty is alive. Blair was shocked, especially when John reported that Marty had been living with Todd. John explained that Marty had amnesia and thought she was living with him of her own free will — and had slept with Todd.

Meanwhile, doctors worked on Todd, who'd been beat up by McBain, while Cole was stunned to run into Marty in the hospital hallway. He and Marty shared a hug and declared how much they'd missed the other, but Marty seemed out of it. Talia interrupted them, explaining that Marty suffered a head injury. Cole was hurt when he realized that Marty didn't know him. Cole was happy to
have her home and alive, and was confident that she'd get her memory back. Marty replied that she did remember a little boy.... While he was operated on, Todd dreamed of the happy life that could've been with Marty.

Langston paid Starr a visit in her hospital room. Starr was grateful to see her friend. Langston shared that she'd asked her grief counselor how she could help Starr deal with her baby's death. She then gave Starr a touching gift.

Marcie and Michael were devastated to come home to decorations that Marcie had purchased, welcoming home the baby. Marcie couldn't believe that Starr's baby had died. Michael quickly picked up all the decorations, but when they went into their room, they found the baby crib that had been set up. Michael promised to be there for Marcie and not walk out on her again.

Cole questioned Nora about his mother's situation. Nora informed him that not much was known, other than Marty had been with Todd. Cole was understandably furious. Blair couldn't understand why John was in handcuffs for beating up Todd, while Todd had violated Marty. John continued to fill her in on how Todd had been planning to raise Starr's baby with Marty. Blair sadly told him that Starr's baby died.

Talia stayed by Marty's side as a doctor examined her. Nora then paid a visit and Marty recognized Nora as being the lawyer who'd defended Todd during Marty's rape trial. Nora explained how she'd done her best to put Todd in jail and that she and Marty are friends. Nora promised her that Todd would never hurt Marty again. Nora asked Marty if Todd had raped her again; Marty replied that he hadn't, but she feels like he did because she slept with him willingly. Nora told her not to blame herself. Marty feared that
she was pregnant.... In his hospital room, Cole put a pillow over Todd's face.

Tuesday

Natalie was surprised to hear that Rex and Gigi are together, but beside herself with joy to see that Rex is all right. Jared, Natalie, Gigi, Rex and Roxy sat down to catch up on all the craziness Jared and Natalie had missed. Roxy revealed that Shane is Rex's son and not Brody's. Natalie was shocked.

Wes visited Brody at the VA hospital and was happy to see he was doing better. Brody admitted he's resigned to going to jail, but Wes urged him to fight. Afraid that Brody has given up on life, he went straight to Rex and Gigi's to request their help.

Clint visited Jessica in the psych ward and assured her that his new granddaughter is doing just fine. He promised Jessica that she'd get the help she needs. Jess suggested she'll never get her life back unless she knows everything Tess did. Clint explained that Tess left Jared and Natalie to die in a sound-proof room and that she made a bomb. Jessica couldn't believe she even knew how to make a bomb and was horrified as Clint provided more details of her crimes as Tess. "It wasn't you!" he assured Jessica as she sobbed. Clint phoned Natalie and informed her that Jessica is requesting her presence at the hospital. Later, Jessica was surprised to see Jared at her door.

John gave Blair the comforting hugs she needed after learning that Starr's baby died and Marty is alive. She asked if Marty remembers John, and he explained that Todd told a bunch of lies about him and how he treated Marty. An officer arrived and told John he has to go to Central Booking.

Marty revealed to Nora that she slept with Todd and didn't use protection because she secretly wanted a baby. She confessed that she'd pictured spending her life with him before she learned the truth. While Nora was speaking with the doctor, Marty curled up in the fetal position on the floor. Later, the doctor explained to a dejected Marty that she has up to three days to take the "morning-after pill" but she took them right away, certain that she could never bear Todd's child. Afterward, Marty asked Nora if she has any children of her own, and when Nora pointed out that she knows Rachel and Matthew, Marty said she knows no one but Todd. Marty lamented the irony of Cole looking at her with such love when she doesn't have a clue who he is. Nora tried to lift Cole and Marty's spirits as she excitedly informed them that Marty is coming home to the mansion. Cole promised his mom that no one would ever hurt him again.

Cole shook as he held a pillow over Todd's battered face and told him he should die for what he did to Marty. Cole was further enraged when Todd admitted that he slept with Marty, and revealed that Starr's baby is dead. Blair high-tailed it over to the hospital and got there just in time to confirm for Todd that Cole's claim is true. Blair wondered if Todd thought he could just erase the past and prove himself to Marty. "I thought she and I could be happy," he whispered, which only made Blair laugh. Before she left, she said everyone would have been better off if John had just beaten Todd to death. Meanwhile, John phoned Nora and asked if Marty's doing okay. Nora said Marty's scared and confused, and doesn't remember Cole. Nora then wheeled Marty toward the elevator, just as Todd was escorted out of it and met Marty's uncertain gaze.

Wednesday

Wes announced to Rex and Gigi that there's something Rex can do for Brody. He explained that Brody will not be represented by the Navy in court because he's no longer enlisted and will most likely be assigned "some overworked public defender." Rex wondered if Wes was asking him for a loan, but that wasn't it: Wes requested that Rex have the charges against Brody dropped, arguing that it would help improve things between Shane and Rex. If the charges are dropped, then Brody can get the help he needs at a proper
facility, Wes suggested. Rex agreed to think about it.

Dr. Joplin began to express her regret about what happened to Starr's baby, but Dorian told her to save it. She demanded to see the autopsy report and said she used her doctor powers to get the nurses at the NICU to admit that the child was never admitted. Dr. Joplin argued that the nurses are mistaken and probably failed to fill out the proper paperwork because it was an emergency situation. Dorian vowed to find out what happened during that missing period of time and what the doctor is hiding.
Marty approached Todd and leaned over him as she yelled in his face that she'd taken the "morning-after" pill to kill any chance of her getting pregnant. She kicked his wheelchair and circled around him, spitting that carrying his child would be enough to just about kill her. She reamed him out for not telling her about Cole, and promised to deliver a fate worse than death to him. Marty was disgusted to think that if John hadn't found her, they'd be off to New Mexico with Starr's baby. "The baby is dead," Todd groaned. Marty was shocked that Cole hadn't mentioned anything, and Todd was quick to blame himself. Nora told him it's too late to make apologies and escorted Marty to the elevator. Just as the doors were closing, Todd called out, "Marty, I really did love you."

Starr showed her mom the lock of Hope's hair that Langston got from Dr. Joplin. Blair was having a hard time trying to tell her daughter what she had to say, so she just spit out the first bit of news: Marty Saybrooke is alive. Starr was thrilled for Cole but sensed that there was more to the story. Todd explained that Marty is suffering from amnesia and doesn't remember Cole. Starr was even more floored to hear that Todd had been involved in keeping Marty away from Cole. Blair surmised that Todd's actions had more to do with clearing his conscience than getting back at her or Cole or anyone who'd wronged him. Blair not only revealed that Todd believes he's fallen in love with Marty but that they planned to move away — with Starr's baby.

As Jessica apologized to Natalie for Tess's behavior, Tess was inside her head, screaming to be let out of a cage. Natalie took her sister's hand and promised to help Jess recover from this latest disaster. In Jessica's screwed-up subconscious, Bess approached the cage. Meanwhile, Jessica asked Natalie to take good care of her girls and sobbed as she thought about the risks Tess could have put her baby through during the pregnancy. Natalie assured Jessica that she's in control now and is strong enough to get past everything. Bess coolly informed Tess that everything is fine with the baby
and that the situation has been taken care of. But Tess managed to convince Bess to let her out just to make sure that the baby is all right. As Bess was folding up Tess's multicolored dress, Tess woke up and found herself restrained to a bed.

Thursday

Although Michael wasn't too happy to hear that his brother broke out of jail, he was quite impressed that John was right all along about Marty being alive. "You saved Marty's life," he praised.

Marty was impressed with Nora's "grand" home, and Nora expressed her condolences to Cole regarding the baby. Cole marveled that at one moment he felt completely alone and the next he was staring his presumed-dead mother in the face. "It was like a miracle," he said, locking eyes with Marty. While Nora was checking on Marty's room, Cole explained to Marty about how
he and Starr dated, broke up and got back together because she and Blair said it was okay. Marty suddenly realized that she doesn't know anything about Cole's father. Cole fetched a photo album in an attempt to help job her memory and began to show her photos of Marty and Patrick's wedding. Cole explained that they moved to California because Patrick wanted to keep far away from Llanview, afraid that the people in Ireland would find him. Marty
was shocked to hear that the men who caused her accident were the same people who killed Patrick. Cole revealed that John was the one who cared for him (aside from Nora) after the accident. Marty was surprised, and asked Cole to explain what John was to her.

Blair was about to tell Dorian about Marty and Todd when Dorian revealed the front page of The Sun, which pictured Todd and Marty. Blair began to rage about Todd's "sick" claim that he and Marty fell in love. Dorian offered her two cents, reminding Blair that men like Todd get away with abusing women because there's always some woman out there who thinks they'll change. Dorian wondered if Marty would remember everything and end up fighting Blair for John, raising an eyebrow at Blair.

Bess stared at Jessica in the cage that is Jessica's mind, while Tess
struggled in a straitjacket at the asylum. Viki called out, "Jessie?" to which Tess barked, "Do I look like Jessica to you?" Tess begged Viki to bring in her baby so that she can make sure she is okay. She claimed that she even tried to save Natalie and Jared in the end, leaving Tina a voicemail requesting her help. Viki agreed to get Hope, but Tess didn't recognize the child; she was certain this wasn't the girl she gave birth to. "It's not my baby and you know it!" Tess yelled at Viki. Bess introduced herself to Jessica and realized that Tess was doing more harm than good, so she released Jessica. Viki slapped Tess and was soon faced with Jessica. "She'll come back, or the other one will," Jessica sobbed, revealing that
there's a second alter.

Bo read the officer's report of John's escape to Antonio and said he can't just let what John did slide. Antonio pleaded with him to find some way to lower John's punishment. Meanwhile, Michael assured John that Bo wouldn't hang him for this, but John didn't care either way; all he cared about was that Marty was safe. Bo called Nora and informed her that the mayor awaits her presence at the station. Antonio escorted John out of his cell, suggesting he find himself a good lawyer. Nora showed up at the commissioner's office to find Bo arguing with Mayor Lowell, who demanded that Nora prosecute McBain, arguing that she "give the citizens of Llanview the justice they deserve." When Lowell heard John was surrounded by a TV crew, he ran out to find them congratulating him on being such a hero. John insisted to the reporter that he's not a hero but did confirm that he's been after a second search warrant for Todd's house for months. Michael interfered and defended John's actions, while Lowell interrupted and told the camera that John broke the law. The lawyer suddenly changed his tune in an effort to look good and released John of his charges. He played up the whole charade for the cameras and even offered to pin John's badge on for him. John told the mayor he could take the job and the badge and shove it.

Friday

Cole relayed to Marty that John helped her when she was suspected of murder and that they became more than friends. Marty was surprised to hear that she and John once cared for each other. None of the photos Cole showed her helped to bring back her memory, but Marty was grateful to have Cole and friends who care about her in her life.

A TV news reporter asked Mayor Lowell why John would just quit the police force on camera like that, and the mayor babbled that John was under a lot of stress. The TV crew hurried out, and John loudly confronted Lowell about impounding evidence and denying him search warrants. Lowell accepted John's resignation and told Nora he wants the charges against Todd reinstated. Bo urged the mayor to reconsider, then begged John to do the same.

Dorian pressed Blair to talk about how Marty's return might affect her relationship with John, and Blair admitted how much she really likes him. As they were talking, a news report replayed John's very public resignation. Meanwhile, John handed Bo his badge and said he needs to live by his own rules for a while. Bo was sorry to lose a great cop, but recommended that Antonio take his place as lieutenant.

Viki surmised that Jessica's new alter is a gatekeeper like Jean, someone who creates order and protects. They both wondered what Bess meant when she indicated that she took control of "the situation". Viki revealed that Tess claimed the baby isn't the one she gave birth to, causing them both to wonder what she meant by that. She was thrilled when Viki showed her a photo of the baby, but feared that she's not of sound mind to care for a newborn right now. Jessica acknowledged that she needs to go somewhere to recover. Viki stepped outside to let Jessica rest, and was pleasantly surprised to find Charlie in the hall.

Dr. Joplin informed Todd that there was no apparent reason why Hope died and that Dorian requested an autopsy. Todd blamed himself, and the doc asked why Todd changed his mind. He argued against the claims that he was holding Marty hostage, and explained that he fell in love with her and wanted to become a better person for her. Dr. Joplin was wrecked over her involvement
in Todd's scheme and said she wished she'd never met him. She did, however, express her hope that he gets the help he needs. Once he was alone, Todd was absorbed with thoughts of Marty. As he remembered her asking if he raped her, he stood up and faced himself in the mirror. Todd slowly removed his bandage, revealing a nasty laceration that was in the same spot he once had his infamous scar.

Dorian phoned Dr. Joplin to bug her about the autopsy report and left a threatening message. Blair rushed to the police station to find that Todd had already left. Little did she know, he'd gone to the mansion to see Marty.
