One Life To Live Recaps
OLTL Week of November 30, 2009
Monday
After taking David's temperature, Nevil informed the flu sufferer that he's on the mend and suggested the news about Dorian may really be what has him under the weather. Now that Dorian is mayor, David said he hoped she would finally shift her focus from the gays to him. David reminded Nevil that he and Dorian are soulmates, just like Bo and Nora (oops!). Nevil pressed David about the slip, and Kevin walked in just as David confessed that he saw Bo and Nora kissing on tape. Kevin admitted that he sensed something was going on when Bo and Nora were in London, while Nevil phoned Nigel and asked with whom their loyalties lie: Bo or Clint? Nigel informed his cousin that Clint is the head of the family, so they must always defer to him.
Rex showed Shane a photo of Mitch and revealed that he is Shane's grandfather, but the only good thing he ever did was give Shane blood. Shane had quite a few questions. Meanwhile, Jessica received a letter from Mitch and refused to read it. Brody called the Napa PD to see why this letter had even been allowed out of the jail. He did not get a satisfactory answer and suggested they bring the letter to John, but Jessica decided to open it.
Kim asked Stacy for help selecting an outfit for a "job interview" as Clint's new assistant. Just as Kim was assuring Stacy that Schuyler wouldn't blab about Stacy's baby, Schuyler showed up at the carriage house looking for Rex. Meanwhile, Rex arrived at the loft and notified Stacy that his father is alive and has a way of going after what he thinks is his, so she'd better watch her back because she's carrying Rex's baby. Stacy was very pleased that Rex was showing concern. Meanwhile, Schuyler steeled himself to reveal the truth about Stacy's baby to Gigi, but once he imagined that the confession turned Gigi against him, he remained quiet. Shane returned from doing some Internet research on his grandfather and said he couldn't believe some of the bad stuff Mitch had done. Rex stopped at Llanfair next, where he revealed to Jessica that Mitch is his father, too.
In jail, Téa explained to Ross once again that he is not Danielle's biological father, just as Todd was looking over the DNA report confirming Danielle as his daughter. Eli arrived to speak with Téa, to Ross's dismay. Ross was released, however, leaving Todd to tell Téa how he really feels.
Kim arrived at the mansion and lied to Clint that Jared had offered her a job as Clint's new assistant. Clint agreed to consult with Kevin, who was in the middle of confronting David. Kim waited outside as Clint informed Kevin that he supposedly has a new assistant and asked if he knows anything about a new hire. Kevin was close to telling Clint about Bo and Nora but stopped himself, explaining to David that he doesn't want to break his father's heart on the day of Jared's funeral. Clint congratulated Kim on her new position at BE and Kim ran home to tell Stacy the good news. Meanwhile, Nevil resolved to fly to Llanview to tell Clint the truth.
At the hospital, Matthew enjoyed his recovering mobility as Destiny cheered him on. She asked if Matt still planned to help Danielle find her father, but Matthew said Dani was already gone. Destiny smiled to herself, but little did she know, Danielle was sneaking around the hospital when she was supposed to be with child protective services. Danielle begged Matthew for his help, and while Destiny was out of the room, he offered his hand to comfort her and they shared a "look."
Tuesday
At St. James, Natalie was surprised to see Roxy show up as the first mourner at Jared's funeral. She explained that she was certain she'd killed Mitch back at the clinic and that if she had any idea that he was alive, she would have notified the police. Natalie ripped into Roxy for letting Jared die, then cried as Roxy told Natalie she loved Jared. Meanwhile, Rex revealed to Jessica that he is Mitch's son, which means they're half siblings. Jessica was speechless, but after some more babbling from Rex, she told him that she received a letter from Mitch. Rex was furious, considering Mitch is in jail and shouldn't be allowed to contact anyone.
Before leaving for the funeral, Charlie tiptoed around the bedroom and was about to open a small bottle of booze when Viki walked in. After the close call, Charlie contemplated pouring the bottle's contents down the sink, then came close to drinking it, then almost poured them down the sink again, but ultimately tucked it in his pocket.
Clint gazed at a photo of him, Nora and Bo on his wedding day and told Nigel he couldn't wait for Nora to get home. Clint remarked how strong their marriage is and how much he trusts her, just Bo and Nora were saying good-bye at the police station. Marty walked in on them in a near-kiss but didn't question it when Nora announced that Matthew is on the road to recovery. Once Bo was gone, she asked Nora if she's okay. Nora assured Marty that she's fine, then headed home to see Clint, who was absolutely thrilled to see her.
Still jailed in Seattle, Todd told Téa he hates her more than he could ever hate anyone because she kept Danielle from him. Téa tried to explain herself and swore that she didn't know Danielle was Todd's child and only suspected this as she became more like Todd. The more she noticed Danielle becoming like Todd, Téa realized that she never got over Todd and made the move to Llanview. Todd wanted to know why she went so far as to marry him yet still didn't tell him about Danielle. Téa reminded Todd that he was in jail for trying to kidnap his own grandchild when she returned to town and wasn't exactly the picture of fatherhood. She continued to lay the blame as she recalled almost dying from a gas leak because of him. She then claimed that she was finally ready to tell him about their daughter when she found him in bed with Blair. She then tried begging for his forgiveness, but Todd said he would never forgive Téa for hiding the fact that they have a child. Téa revealed that Blair knows about Danielle and has been keeping the secret, too. Todd didn't believe her, arguing that Blair knows what family means to him. Téa explained what happened the day Blair fell out the window and how Blair recalled learning the secret shortly after. Todd vowed to find Danielle and be a father to her as soon as he's out of that jail cell, and said he wants Téa to go to hell.
Jared's coffin was wheeled into St. James and Natalie draped herself over it, crying, "Please let it not be you in there!" Before carrying the coffin down the aisle, Bo asked Clint how he's doing and offered his support. "I can always count on you, Bo," Clint told his brother. The minister began the ceremony and asked Jessica to deliver her eulogy. She recalled that Jared forgave her for what she put him through (i.e., imprisoning him and trying to blow him and Natalie to bits) and thanked Jared for all the love he gave Natalie. As the minister began "The Lord's Prayer," John's phone began to buzz. He stepped out to take the call and was shocked to hear something about Mitch. John returned to the church to speak with Bo just as the coffin's lid began to rise. Natalie looked at it as though Jared were about wake up and say, "Hey, babe! I'm alive!" Wrong. Everyone's mouths were agape as the lid popped open and Mitch coolly sat up.
Wednesday
As Mitch rose from Jared's coffin and faced the horrified crowd, he told them not to act so surprised, reminding them it's not the first time he's come back from the dead! Brody, Bo and Mitch immediately grabbed Laurence, while Natalie screamed at him to reveal Jared's location. After making a few quips about the corpse, he said he left it at the funeral home. After Clint stormed off to see about the body, Mitch made a cryptic comment directed at Nora and Bo. Roxy appeared to be particularly disturbed by Mitch's appearance. Mitch explained to the cops that he's a free man, but John wanted to take him in for the murders of Wayne Landers and Pamela Stuart, which Mitch claimed were committed by Jared. Nevertheless, they put him in cuffs, but before he was out the door, Mitch called out to son Rex, "There's work to be done!"
At La Boulaie, Markko seemed to win over Dorian with his documentary-making skills. She loved the idea of him documenting her swearing in and went to dress for the event. When she returned, Amelia arrived and Dorian announced to the camera that she will keep her promise to legalize those same-sex marriages performed at the commitment ceremony.
Back at the Llanview PD, Fish recounted for Layla the horrible things that Mitch had done, unaware that he was at Jared's funeral that very moment. In Angel Square, Kyle and Nick shared an awkward exchange in which Nick admitted that he had fallen in love with Kyle before Kyle dumped him at the commitment ceremony. Nick asked about Kyle and Fish's relationship and jumped to conclusions when Kyle said they are "taking it slow." When Nick asked if they could be friends, Kyle agreed and they hugged, just as Fish walked up. Nick informed Fish that Kyle had just agreed they should all be friends, then suggested that Kyle and Fish get married if Dorian makes it legal. The couple was embarrassed, which was duly noted by Nick, who pointed out that they haven't even slept together since their reunion! Nick wandered away, leaving Kyle to explain himself to Fish.
Dorian arrived for the swearing-in ceremony and ascended the dais like a queen, with Starr and Langston at her side. After taking her oath, she swore that she would follow up on her promise to issue gay couples their marriage licenses. The attorney general showed up and informed Dorian that he's there to shut her down.
After Jared's debacle of a memorial, Rex asked Gigi why Mitch would say they have work to do. Gigi urged Rex to think about the future and ask God for guidance. They knelt at the altar and began to pray, but Rex was still clearly troubled. Mitch tried to push Brody's buttons as he was tossed into a cell, but Bo advised Brody to tune him out. Mitch asked that no one stop Rex from visiting him, which he inevitably will. Bo said there's no way Rex will try to see Mitch, but was disturbed by something Mitch said about Clint.
The rest of the Buchanan/Banks clan headed to the cemetery once Jared's body was recovered, and they recited Mary Frye's "Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep" as Jared was finally laid to rest. Afterward, Natalie took a moment alone with the coffin and cried out that she wished her husband was there. She recalled their first kiss at the ranch and admitted that she knew then that she would love Jared forever. Viki and Jessica visited Nash's grave, and Jessica admitted to Marty that Nash's death feels new again. Recalling her own experience with Patrick, Marty assured Jessica that her pain would lessen and she'd learn to "live off the memories." Meanwhile, Mitch was surprised (and strangely pleased) to receive a visit from Charlie.
Thursday
Destiny walked in on Matthew and Danielle holding hands and barked at Danielle to stop "pushing" the patient around. Danielle asked where Matthew's family is, and he explained that they had to return to Llanview for a funeral. Matthew and Danielle plotted her escape, but when Destiny went to check out the hallway, she spied Greg and Rachel kissing. They hid Danielle under Matthew's hospital bed, but the girl revealed herself upon hearing Rachel's warning that Ross could hurt Téa again. Greg and Rachel were disappointed that their respective siblings were helping Danielle dodge Child Protective Services. Rachel threatened to call Danielle's mom.
Meanwhile, Ross managed to take down a guard at the Seattle police station. He aimed the guard's gun at Todd and tried to force him to say that Danielle is Ross's daughter and not Todd's. Todd wouldn't say it and urged Ross to accept the truth. Téa and Todd both begged Ross to leave Danielle alone as he fled the jail with the gun. Luckily, Rachel phoned Elijah, who had just arrived on the scene, to let Téa know that Danielle is with him. Téa was relieved to hear that her daughter was safe.
Back in Llanview, Blair received word of Todd's arrest and informed Jack that his dad is in jail. "Who did he kidnap this time?" Jack groaned. Blair promised to tell Jack everything when she returned from Seattle.
Viki returned to Jared's gravesite and sat with Natalie, who had clearly been there all afternoon since it was getting darker. Viki tried to make Natalie smile as they recalled Natalie and Jared's Christmastime engagement. Natalie lamented that she'd only been married to Jared for six months, thanks to Mitch. Viki urged Natalie to cherish her memories, then led her away from the cemetery.
A jailed Mitch received a visit from Charlie and asked if he's there to finish Mitch off. He proceeded to chide Charlie for his parenting skills and tried to get into his head as they discussed Charlie's struggle with alcoholism. "You can't get under my skin," Charlie insisted, although it was clear Mitch's words were affecting him. Mitch challenged Charlie to go ahead and drown his sorrows. "It's okay, Charlie," he cooed. "I won't judge you." Charlie appeared to be in a momentary trance, then demanded answers as to why Mitch killed Jared and how he got away with it. Mitch claimed that God decided it was Jared's time and told Charlie that Jared died because his father came looking for him. Charlie headed to the cemetery and found Natalie's photo of the ranch at Jared's grave. As he leaned on Jared's headstone, he recalled Mitch's words that it was his selfish need for amends that cost Jared his life. Charlie removed the bottle from his jacket and took a sip ... then another.
At Dorian's swearing-in ceremony, the crowd booed as the attorney general informed Dorian that he's there on behalf of the governor to shut her down. Dorian openly defied the governor's orders and signed the document legalizing the gay unions performed there weeks earlier, so the AG demanded that Fish arrest her. Fish refused, and the AG threatened to take his badge.
Fish publicly disobeyed and made an impassioned speech about equal rights. To save Fish from losing his badge, however, Dorian descended the stage and offered to be taken to the police station. The crowd applauded as she gracefully accepted her arrest. At the PD, Fish escorted Dorian to her cell and thanked her for standing up for him at the ceremony. Suddenly, Mitch called out, "Is that Dr. Dorian Lord?" Fish informed Mitch that Dorian is the mayor now. Mitch walked up to the cell door and asked Dorian what she's
in for. Back in Angel Square, Amelia and Nick ran into some tough-talking homophobes.
Friday
Téa was greatly relieved to hear that Danielle was at the hospital, and Todd the Concerned Father called out to Rachel to not let the girl out of her sight. Little did they know, Ross was waiting outside Matthew's hospital room with his gun. As Rachel explained to Greg that they need to keep Ross from Dani, Ross crept up and shoved the gun in Rachel's back. Greg tried to talk some sense into Ross, but he turned the gun on both of them and made his way to Matthew's room. Greg phoned the police to let them know there's a
gunman in the hospital. Ross told Danielle he would do anything to keep from losing her. Téa and Todd soon arrived at the hospital, and Téa tried to reason with Ross, who held Destiny at gunpoint, to Greg's horror. He used Destiny as a human shield as he made his way to the elevator with the girls.
Over dinner at Rodi's, Shane asked Rex if the whole family will be having Christmas together. He was thinking of Roxy, but Rex thought he was asking about his grandfather. Rather than explain to the boy that Mitch is on the loose, Rex announced that the All-American Rejects are playing at his club and they're going. Later, Gigi asked Schuyler how he managed to get Stacy and Kim to keep quiet about Gigi's little sleepover at Schuyler's, and he cryptically said they made a deal.
Starr, Langston, Cole and Markko showed up at Ultraviolet and were excited for the show. Langston and Markko made fun of the young parents for constantly checking in with their babysitter. Stacy and Kim arrived, and Stacy immediately began complaining about her pregnancy pad. Kyle and Fish finally met up for their first date, and Fish told Kyle about his crazy day involving the mayor and Mitch. Stacy and Kim watched the happy couple, and
Kim assured Stacy they did the right thing by helping Fish realize he's gay. Kim and Stacy shared an awkward exchange with Rex and Shane. Rex reminded Shane that he has to be nice to Stacy because of the baby and tried to relay the message to him in sci-fi terms. Shane followed Rex's weird advice and went to talk to the baby that's "trapped inside Stacy," as Rex put it. When Shane tried to reach out to touch her belly, Stacy jumped back.
At the jail, Dorian came face to face with ex-husband Mitch, who was delighted to hear that she's become mayor. Dorian told Mitch that marrying him was the worst mistake she's ever made. He rattled off a list of her failed relationships and reminded her that "God" is always watching. "You are ... Satan," she spat. Mitch remarked that she'll be very useful to him in her new position and made subtle threats about the Cramer girls. When he brought up Cassie, who he nearly raped in the '80s, Dorian went nuts and threw a chair against the cell door.
Some thugs approached Amelia and Nick at Angel Square and said they don't want their kind of "trash" around. Amelia stood up to them, but Nick wanted to just walk away. After they were gone, one of the guys threatened to give "those queers a teaching moment." Nick and Amelia headed to Rodi's to share a drink, but the homophobes showed up soon after. One of them even decked Schuyler when he tried to intervene. Nick didn't want Gigi to call the police, which was his mistake: When he left the bar, the three guys pounced on him. At UV, the All-American Rejects played, while Gigi helped Schuyler patch up his wound, Amelia went to bring dinner to Dorian — who was being watched by Mitch — and Nick got the crap beat out of him.
