One Life To Live Recaps

OLTL Week of October 20, 2008

Monday

Dorian watched as the hit on Ray went awry and Vanessa picked up the shooter's gun, firing a bullet at her husband. John called for backup after cuffing the hit man, and Dorian asked if Ray was dead. Though he was bleeding heavily, Ray clung to life, while Antonio arrested Vanessa. After confirming with John that the guy was a contract killer, Blair looked over at a guilty Dorian. Langston was stunned, gasping that she didn't even know her uncle was married. Talia tried to control Ray's bleeding while waiting for the paramedics to arrive. Blair went up to Dorian and asked what she's up to, but she played innocent, pointing out that "some woman" did them all a favor by shooting Ray. John knew that Dorian was somehow involved and wanted to speak to her about it at the station. The paramedics took Ray to the hospital, while Markko insisted on accompanying Langston home, admitting that he was happy she didn't have to get on that plane. Langston remarked that Dorian didn't seem too surprised by what they just witnessed.

Gigi was furious that Adriana had Rex moved to an undisclosed location. She and Marcie pleaded with Michael to reveal where Adriana took Rex. Michael couldn't give her a straight answer, but did his best to subtly offer clues. Gigi and Marcie understood, then watched as Ray was wheeled into the ER. Gigi said she knows Adriana took Rex someplace where she could call all the shots — La Boulaie. Meanwhile, Blair returned home and discovered Adriana there with Rex, still comatose and hooked up to multiple machines. Blair questioned Adriana's intentions, but Adriana maintained that she's doing what's best for Rex.

Marty suggested she and Todd name Starr's child Patrick if it's a boy. Having overheard, Janet walked in and suggested, "Cole," tossing a smug look in Todd's direction. Janet lied that she was just listening to Cole Porter on the radio, then followed Todd into the kitchen. Janet revealed that she'd done a little reading on Marty and is fully aware of Todd's lies. Todd was curious as to just how she got all this information. She thought back to her conversation with John, but kept quiet about it, and brought up the fact that she knows Todd raped Marty. Todd insisted that he's giving Marty a better life than the one she had, but Janet recognized his selfish motives. Todd dropped the bomb that he knows all about her past as Lee Halpern and tried to hold that knowledge over her. She reluctantly agreed to stay silent about Marty's identity.

Meanwhile, Cole and Starr shared a heart-to-heart and Cole thanked her for being there for him after his mom died. As much as she appreciated Langston and Marrko's help, he said he especially couldn't have gotten through it without Starr. Todd returned from his confrontation with Janet, and was chilled when Marty said no son of hers would ever be named Cole.

Back at the Llanview PD, Dorian explained to John how she spotted a man pulling out a gun at the airport. John asked her if she knew that the man was a contract killer. "How badly did you want to keep Langston from her uncle?" John pressed. When she continued to play dumb, John decided to call in Jackie McNaughton — and keep Dorian in a cell in the meantime. Vanessa was brought in for booking and asked Cristian to look after Lola in her absence. As Todd and Marty continued to look through a book of baby names, Janet thought about her meeting with John and dialed his number. John answered, but there was no one on the other end. Langston approached Lola and introduced herself as Lola's cousin.

Marcie started to cook up a scheme to get Gigi in to see Rex, while Adriana begged Rex to wake up and come back to her, suggesting they start over again. She vowed out loud that no one would come between them again.

Tuesday

Todd and Marty were still picking out baby names when Tess arrived unexpectedly with Bree and announced that they're moving in. She explained that Viki's back in town and is already onto her. Just as Tess was threatening to refresh Marty's memory about their past, Marty came out and introduced herself to Bree. When Marty mentioned "the baby coming," Tess did a double take. Marty dropped the bomb that they're going to raise Starr's baby, while Todd stood silently with his arms crossed.

Langston suggested to Lola that they go visit her father in the hospital. "He can rot in hell," Lola spat, explaining that Vanessa shot him to keep him from killing Lola and that Ray killed her mother. Langston didn't believe that her uncle was a murderer. After speaking with Bo and Sarah about the shooting, Cristian took Lola home for the night.

At La Boulaie, Adriana looked through photos of her and Rex and assured him that they'll get their marriage back on track when he wakes up. As Cole and Starr were chatting in the foyer, Adriana threw open the door and asked them to keep it down. Starr was a little confused to find Rex in their living room and asked if Adriana and Rex were getting a divorce. Adriana was defensive, saying they never mentioned that word while she was in Paris. Adriana had to step out and asked Starr if she'd watch Rex for a while. Cole was touched to hear that Starr reads books to their unborn child. Outside, Adriana gave Shaun strict instructions that no one is to see Rex other than medical personnel and family — especially not Gigi. Starr brought some books down from her room, and one of them jogged Cole's memory about his mom.

At the Angel Square Hotel, Marcie returned from a shopping trip with a few "tools" to get Gigi in to see Rex. Roxy rushed in with a bag of gifts for Rex and informed Charlie that Adriana "the ice princess" is keeping Rex from his own mother. Gigi overheard Roxy blaming herself and told her that Rex wouldn't want her to speak that way. Roxy unleashed her anger and said she was going to get even with Adriana and kick her butt. Marcie suggested something a little less violent, unveiling Gigi's nurse costume, which Roxy wanted to give a final touch. Charlie gave Jared a call to say he misses him, while Gigi left a message for Bo assuring him that she'd let Rex know that they're both pulling for him. Gigi and Marcie made their way to La Boulaie, where Adriana encountered Marcie on the doorstep while Gigi waited outside in a pair of glasses and a blond wig.

Tina received a cell phone message with a photo of her dog blindfolded. Their correspondence was flirtatious but ended with an even more threatening pic of David Vickers being dangled over a vat of water! Bo and Viki hypothesized in the next room about Jessica's whereabouts. Bo explained that he's certain Tess is responsible for Natalie and Jared's disappearance. Once Bo was gone, Viki discovered Tina trying to break into the safe. Viki asked if Tina was crying, and Tina explained that David Vickers has been kidnapped and she was just searching for a gun for protection. Tina tried to leave the room but Viki stopped her by asking if Tina had seen Tess. Tina played innocent, then started to freak out after receiving another menacing photo of David Vickers. Tina promised Viki that they would find her girls — after she speaks with the gardener about D.V.

While Marty watched Bree, Todd tossed Tess outside and told her to keep her mouth shut, but she caught on that Todd plans to steal his own grandchild. All she needs in return for her silence is for him to keep her and Bree hidden. Marty recalled a passage from "Jabberwocky" while Cole recalled her mom reading the same Lewis Carroll passage to him as a child. Marty was suddenly struck with an image of herself holding a male toddler. "Where was that from?" she asked herself, startled. After Tess managed to persuade Todd to let her stay there, Tina showed up and said she'd been looking all over for him. At Llanfair, Viki was on her way out the door and stopped when she saw Charlie on the other side.

Wednesday

As Cole read aloud to a comatose Rex, Starr remarked that he'd be a good dad. Adriana saw through Marcie's guise of checking on Starr and surmised that she was there to plead Gigi's case again. Marcie yammered on while Gigi crept around the side of the mansion. When Marcie asked to see Starr, Adriana lied that Starr wasn't there, so Marcie called Starr's cell phone and Adriana's bluff. Gigi made her way to the French doors outside the living room and saw Starr and Cole inside with Rex. When they left the room, Gigi tried the locked door, just as Shaun put a hand on her shoulder. Gigi successfully covered by claiming to be a night nurse on a cigarette break. Marcie managed to get Adriana upstairs and sent Gigi a message to go to the front door.

Bo summoned John to his office and suggested John was right when he noticed something's off about Jessica. Bo reasoned that with Rex in a coma, it'd be unlikely that Natalie would stay away, and pointed out that Viki hasn't heard from Natalie in weeks. "As of last night, Banks is nowhere to be found either," he added. John wondered if Jessica or Tess, as the case may be, knows something about what Todd and Natalie are up to. Bo warned John against disobeying the mayor's instructions and trying to get into Manning's again.

Tess checked on Bree and pointed out that Marty looked like she'd just seen a ghost. "I may have," she remarked, admitting that she had a memory of a small boy. She asked Jessica if she was once close to someone who had a little boy. Tess didn't know what to say. Meanwhile, Tina pressed Todd about Jessica's whereabouts, claiming she needs the new combination to the safe. Tess overheard Tina and stayed in the living room with Marty, lying that John McBain was outside. Tina insisted that Todd help her unlock the safe, so he suggested she just blow it up.

Charlie was pleasantly surprised to hear that Viki was just on his way to see him, but his smiled faded when she said she just wanted to ask him about Jared. She shared her suspicion that Natalie and Jared are both missing, then went into greater detail over a pot of tea. Viki was upset with herself for not seeing this happening to Jessica, and reminded him that she's the reason Tess exists. Charlie was happy to help Viki get to the bottom of things. They checked upstairs and found that neither Natalie nor Jared had even unpacked since they'd moved to Llanfair. Charlie gave Viki a hug and promised they'd find their children.

Down in the secret room, Natalie was freaking out about getting out alive. They had a tender moment as Jared wrapped her swollen ankle. Jared then claimed he knows a way to get them out of there, and asked her to close her eyes and imagine that they're back in Texas. He recalled sitting by the fire pit together, telling Natalie he loves her and making love to her later that evening. A sweet tune played as they danced by the imaginary fire. Later, Natalie thanked Jared for the fantasy, and Jared assured her they'd go to Texas again someday.

Todd managed to get rid of Tina and when he returned to the living, Tess revealed that Marty had a memory. While Tess was out of the room, Marty explained what she saw and asked if she has a son. Todd reminded her that he's already told her she doesn't have children. He claimed the memory could be of anyone, than excused himself to speak with Tess. Meanwhile, Tina returned to Llanfair and tiptoed into the living room. She sidled up to the safe and thanked Todd for his help, pulling out two sticks of dynamite from her bag.

Gigi crept around to the front door of Dorian's mansion but encountered Starr and Cole on the way. She remained hidden behind the bushes as she listened to them say how awful it must be to be trapped in a coma. Once they were gone, Gigi sneaked into the front door and almost made it into the living room before Adriana called out to her.

Thursday

After threatening Todd with her knowledge of his babynapping scheme, Tess went upstairs to check on Bree. A guilt-ridden Dr. Joplin, meanwhile, called to ask Todd if he'd changed his mind yet about taking Starr's baby. Todd gave her pretty simplistic instructions on how to pretend that the baby is dead, but she didn't think she'd be able to pull it off without an unscrupulous nurse at her side. Todd knew just the person. Upstairs, Tess listened on the baby monitor as Todd informed Janet that she's going to make sure Marty gets Starr's baby. Janet was a little overwhelmed by his request, and as Tess listened to him explain the procedure, she remarked to Bree that Todd makes her look like Mother Theresa. Armed with even more ammunition against Todd, Tess came up with a new plan. She stepped out and asked Janet to check on Bree for her. On her way out, Tess cryptically remarked to Todd that Janet is very "helpful." When Todd was alone, his mind was full of Tess's taunting, Dr. Joplin's pleas and Marty's kind words.

Matthew and Shane had a sleepover at the mansion and started to bond over their similar daddy issues. Matthew remarked that he hopes Shane's dad gets better, obviously referring to Rex. "I hope both of them do," Shane lamented. Matthew shared what it was like for him to get used to having another dad after he learned that Sam wasn't his father. Matthew also revealed that he didn't know Sam wasn't his father until after he died. Shane was surprised to hear it, and said he hopes that Brody is well. Matthew thought it was fine that Shane still considers Brody to be his dad in a way. As the boys went to sleep, Shane thought of all the good times he'd had with Brody.

Wes visited Brody at the VA hospital he was recently transferred to and explained that he's been heavily drugged. Brody sat up as far as his restraints would let him and asked what he did. Brody started to piece it all together and remembered that he'd shot Rex. He was filled with remorse and couldn't imagine that Gigi would ever forgive him. He realized that Shane would never see him the same way either and demanded that Wes tell him what condition Rex is in.

Gigi refused to turn around when Adriana asked to see her ID. Marcie came running downstairs and tried to distract Adriana. Luckily, Michael showed up and Gigi was able to slip into the living room. Michael explained that he and "Nancy" had to make sure the environment was sterile before anyone else could go in. Once they were alone with Rex, Michael explained to Gigi that Rex is not doing well, and he would give her just a few minutes with him. She sat down at his bedside and recalled all that they'd been through over the last 10 years, and how she never stopped loving him. Meanwhile, Adriana found Michael standing alone in the foyer and asked what he was doing there. Inside, Gigi pleaded with Rex not to abandon her now, and finally, he opened his eyes.

At Llanfair, Tina lit the dynamite that she'd strapped to the safe. As it started to spark, she realized she was about to blow herself up as well, so she put out the flame before it could get to the explosives. After turning to the computer for help, Tina rigged something up and was about to flick a switch, just as Tess threw open the door.

Friday

John left Janet a message offering to protect her from Todd if she comes clean about Marty's presence at Todd's house. Blair called on the other line and asked what John was up to. Even though he was surrounded by files pertaining to Marty's disappearance, he answered, "Not a thing." Their call was interrupted by Cole's arrival at John's. Blair ended up having a late-night chat with Starr, who was afraid she'd give birth at any moment. Blair asked Starr how things are going with Cole, and Starr was happy to report that they're finally getting back to being friends. Starr pointed out that she's giving her baby to someone who can raise him or her without a man, suggesting that they're all better off without men. Blair said the lesson to be learned is that you have to choose the right man, someone who respects you. Blair advised her daughter to think about all the things she has to look forward to after the baby's born, like being able to go to prom and college. Meanwhile, Cole explained to John that he wants to make a memorial Web site for the anniversary of Marty's death.

At Llanfair, Tina was about to detonate her bomb when Tess discovered it. Apparently a pyrotechnics expert, Tess dismantled the setup and threw it back at Tina, telling her she did it wrong. Tina pleaded with Tess, "from one mother to another," to help her save David Vickers. Tess informed Tina that she came back for the jewels herself, then accused Tina of caring more about her dog than anything else. She handed Tina one jewel, then headed back to Todd's with the rest of them — and the dynamite.

As Marty watched Bree in her crib, she once again imagined Cole sitting there. She explained to Todd that she has such a strong, vivid memory of holding this boy. She even asked if it's possible that she gave birth to a baby while she disappeared. Todd told her there's no way that happened. Marty's curiosity prompted him to reveal that he was not present for the birth of two of his children and that Sam is not Blair's son. Marty said she understands why Todd wants a shot at raising another child. "If I'm lucky, maybe one day I'll have a child of my own," she wondered aloud.

Charlie and Viki stopped by the Angel Square Hotel to ask Roxy whether she'd seen Jared or Tess. Roxy had a feeling they were all in the same boat and had everyone light candles and make wishes for their children to come home.

Michael advised an impatient Adriana from going to see Rex, lying that he has to check on Rex's vitals. Meanwhile, Gigi had just professed her undying love for Rex and gotten him to wake up. "You are the most beautiful sight I've ever seen," a groggy Rex told her. Gigi explained where he is and why he's there. Rex remembered his dream of playing a game and said he had to win to come back and be Shane's dad. "Well, you are his dad, and he knows it now," she told him. Meanwhile, Adriana was anxious to get into the living room and Michael could only stall her for so long. After learning from Michael that Rex came out of his coma, she opened the door and saw Gigi leaning over Rex, giving him a kiss on the head. Adriana listened as he declared his love for her. In the foyer, Marcie thanked Michael for his help. Marcie inadvertently admitted that she'd thought she could have it all — the baby and the husband. Michael bid her good-night and Marcie went home alone.

After Adriana overheard Rex refer to Gigi as the love of his life, she finally made herself known, then shocked both of them by agreeing to stop trying to come between them. Adriana kissed Rex good-night and began to cry as soon as she had left the room.
