One Life To Live Recaps

OLTL Week of October 6, 2008

Monday

Vanessa introduced her stepdaughter, Lola, to Cristian and explained that
they need to get away from Colombia as soon as possible. Cristian didn't
understand why Lola wanted to run from her own father, but Vanessa claimed
that Ray murdered Lola's mother and wants both her and Lola dead.

After learning from Cole that Clint is in cahoots with Ray, Dorian stormed
into the mansion pointing fingers at Clint for her losing custody of
Langston. She vowed not to let him get away with it, but Clint played
innocent. Dorian became emotional as she accused Nora of being part of
Clint's "perverted plan," which sent Nora out of the room. Clint reminded
Dorian that she took his company away from him, and she realized what kind
of game he was playing. Clint explained that she wouldn't lose Langston, as
long as she was willing to give back Buchanan Enterprises. He could even put
Ray back in jail, he added. As sweet as a deal Clint thought he was offering
her, Dorian surprised him by asking for some time to mull it over. After she
left, Clint uttered to himself, "She'd never give up Langston." Outside,
Dorian called someone named Jackie to discussion a certain situation ASAP.

Cole asked John why he's carrying around a file on Marty's death and told
him just to let it go. He then caught John up on the crazy custody hearing,
including his run-in with Clint. Cole said it was like Langston had lost her
parents all over again, and he could never bear to do the same. He
remembered how it was like she just disappeared instead of died, and often
thinks of a certain day when he and Marty went for a drive and she looked
really happy. John promised to help Cole's friend out in whatever way he
can. Meanwhile, Sarah, Antonio and Talia put their heads together to figure
out what Ray Montez has to do with Cristian's disappearance. Just as Talia
mentioned Ray's name, Nora walked in and asked why they were talking about
him. After looking over his file, Antonio concluded that there's enough
suspicion to bring him in for questioning.

As Marty was about to view a story about her rape, Todd challenged her to
forget the past and live in the present. Marty explained that she hoped to
recover some of her memories by reading the story but changed her mind and
decided to focus on her future with Todd. Taking her away from his house for
the first time, Todd escorted Marty to his car. Later, Marty was elated as
they drove down a country lane in a convertible. They arrived at a meadow
with a picnic basket, and Marty announced that she was so happy in that
moment. Todd kissed her and they walked off, just as John was looking over
Marty's file and changed the conclusion from "presumed dead" to "presumed
alive."

Ray dropped by Llanview High to retrieve Langston's academic records and ran
into Langston with Starr and Markko in the hall. Langston insisted he stay
and try to understand what he'd be taking her away from, but it wasn't
necessarily the high school's academics that Ray claimed to be unimpressed
with — it's the lack of supervision, he explained, looking over Starr. Ray
assured her his concerns have nothing to do with Starr. Langston tried to
make Ray understand that she has a good life in Llanview and begged him to
let her stay. Nora, Talia and Antonio showed up and beseeched Ray to come to
the station, where they needed to ask him a few questions about Cristian
Vega. "Who's Cristian Vega?" Ray asked, sincerely puzzled. Meanwhile, Cris
informed a grateful Lola that he's going to take her and Vanessa to
Llanview, where there's no way her father can find them.

Tuesday

Vanessa assured Lola that Ray would never find them in Llanview, just as
Nora was summoning Ray to the Llanview PD. Before he left with them, Ray
advised Langston that they're still going to Colombia. Cole caught up
Langston on what he told Dorian about Clint's revenge plot. Langston
couldn't believe it and said she wished Dorian had never taken over that
stupid company.

Dorian returned home and told Blair that she's got a plan. When Jackie
McNaughton arrived, Blair knew Dorian was up to no good. Dorian insisted
that "consultant" Jackie is now a legitimate businessman and no longer a
player in organized crime. Dorian was vague as she requested that Ray Montez
be "removed from Langston's life permanently." But Jackie wanted a little
more info and didn't understand why Dorian was so unwilling to relinquish BE
in exchange for the girl. Dorian explained that there's no way Clint can
guarantee that Ray will give up custody. Jackie admitted that he'd done some
research and knows Dorian had a pretty bad breakup with Clint. Dorian put
the money in his pocket and told him just do what she's asking. He agreed,
warning her that there's no going back now. Once he was gone, Dorian phoned
Clint to inform him that she declines his offer.

Meanwhile, Blair and Addie had a heart to heart about Blair's relationship
with John. Blair admitted that she thinks of John as more than a friend with
benefits. Addie reminded her that a Cramer woman never settles for less than
she deserves.

John pored over a report on Marty's death and flashed back to the explosion
that presumably took Marty's life. He headed straight to the hospital and
tracked Michael down in a very bleak part of the building. John showed
Michael the police report and asked him if it's possible that the woman
whose death is described there could be the same as the one in Ramsey's
X-rays. Michael was sure that no one could have survived an explosion like
that, suggesting that the body would have been incinerated. Even if she did
survive, someone had to have been there to help her, he noted. Curious as to
why John was pressing him so much, Michael asked what connection he has to
this woman, and John revealed that he believes Marty is still alive. John
explained to a shocked Michael that it's possible Ramsey may have gotten to
the van while John was checking on Cole. Michael asked John to think about
what it means for him if his ex-girlfriend is alive and warned John not to
set himself up for disappointment. John returned home and made another call
about Todd, but was interrupted by a knock on the door. Blair was at the
door smiling with groceries, but John didn't look thrilled.

Somewhere scenic, Todd and his amnesiac girlfriend set up lunch on a picnic
blanket. Even though she'd decided to not look further into her rape, Marty
regretted not knowing the good things about her past. Todd presented her
with an atlas and said they could live anywhere she wants. She pointed to a
spot in Alaska called Moose's Tooth and joked that that sounded perfect.
Noting that Todd still wears his wedding band, she challenged him to let go
of his past, too.

Ray had nothing to say but that his release from the Colombian prison did
not require a second trial, which made Antonio suspect that someone paid for
his release. Ray used his free call to contact Clint, who was furious that
Nora had hauled Ray in for questioning. Ray put Nora on at Clint's request,
and Nora told her BF if he has a problem with how she does her job, then
maybe he shouldn't be living with the DA. Nora hung up and resumed
questioning Ray with the help of Talia and Antonio. Nora and Talia both
deduced that Ray has nothing to do with Cristian's disappearance, but
Antonio wanted to press further.

Cristian, Vanessa and Lola came in from a storm and Vanessa suggested they
change their wet clothes. Of course, Vanessa walked in on him sans shirt.
She pointed out that when they are in Llanview, she and Lola will only have
each other. "And me," Cristian offered. Vanessa remarked that she and Lola
are very lucky, as is Sarah.

Wednesday

When John found Blair at his door with a bag of groceries, Blair asked if she caught him at a bad time. John decided to take a break from work and they chatted about his trip to Colombia. He asked what's on her mind and she replied, "I missed those blue eyes." They sat down on the sofa and she did most of the talking, as usual, revealing that she feels them moving away from just friends who sleep together. He admitted that he's having the same feelings and they were soon heating up the bedroom.

Over their picnic lunch, Marty reminded Todd that Blair wasn't necessarily good to him in the end yet he's still wearing his wedding ring. Todd claimed it was stuck but Marty recalled Freud suggesting there are no accidents. "It's over, Marty," he vowed, even joking that he'd cut his finger off if he could prove that to her. "I'm ready to move on with you," he assured her. Marty managed to twist the ring off his finger and handed it to Todd, who promptly tossed it into the nearby forest. Then, he shocked Marty by proposing that they "make it official" and move on with a wedding. Marty was speechless.

Tina showed up at Foxy Roxy's to find the proprietor with tears (and mascara) streaming down her face. Roxy ranted about how she needs Natalie and can't believe she's not around in Rex's time of need. Tina, who already felt guilty, said if she could tell Roxy where Natalie is she would. Roxy caught on that Tina was hiding something, so Tina gave her a clue: "She's closer than you think. You could even say, she's under foot." Roxy rushed out, thanking Tina for what she said.

Tess went to see Natalie and fibbed that Rex is dead, even lying that Rex opened up his eyes long enough to ask for her. Natalie started crying. After Tess delighted in fooling her, she finally said, "Got ya!" Natalie pointed out that if Rex remains in a coma, people are going to get suspicious about why Natalie hasn't come home yet. She suggested that Jared's catching on and Tina may be feeling guilty enough to let Natalie out.

At the Llanview PD, Bo informed Brody that he's facing murder charges. As they waited for Brody's therapist to arrive, the vet continued to think of the little boy he killed. Jared rushed in to see Bo to let him know he thinks something's fishy about Natalie's sudden departure. He then asked if Bo's noticed there's something off with Jessica. Bo wasn't entirely sure what Jared was getting at, so Jared explained some of the inconsistencies he'd noticed in Jess that could indicate Tess's return. Bo thought back to his discussion with John about Jessica possibly covering for Todd at his house. Meanwhile, Brody was staring intently at a cop's gun and cried out as his flashbacks intensified. Bo and Jared heard shouting from the next room and ran in to find Brody on top of the officer. Bo ran in and grabbed Brody, assuring him that he'll be okay.

Gigi showed up to work, clearly upset, and bemoaned to her boss that Rex's wife won't let her anywhere near him. Marcie arrived at Rodi's to report that she took Shane to school. Meanwhile, Adriana was distraught over Rex's condition and sought comfort from Layla. She claimed she's certain that Rex was hoping to see Gigi when he briefly woke up. Adriana then confessed that she sent the toothbrush to Gigi's house and feels responsible for unleashing Brody on Rex. Marcie showed up and listened to a guilt-ridden Adriana, who expressed her regret over the way she handled things with Rex around the time of their wedding. "I still love him," Adriana wailed. Marcie prompted Adriana to think about what she's doing if she claims to love Rex.

To put Tess to the test, Jared asked "Jessica" to go over Natalie's letter with him. When she read aloud a part about not being the "sweet girl next door," Jared thought back to his first meeting with Tess, who had claimed the same thing. The wry smile on his face indicated that he knew Tess was back, but he tried not to give it away, tossing the letter aside and declaring that he and Natalie are over. Meanwhile, Natalie was happily surprised to see Tina on the other side of the secret door.

Thursday

Marty was somewhat irked by Todd's proposal and hobbled away from him. She explained that she's curious about his motives for wanting to marry someone he's not in love with and even wondered whether he was partly interested in getting back at Blair. Todd tried his best to convince her that he hates Blair and would never marry her again. "I want to marry you because of the way you make me feel about myself," he revealed. Despite her growing feelings for him, she said she can't marry him. She even admitted that if she entertained his proposal, it would be because she's scared of being alone. Even though she can't remember what it's like, she said she does feel like she's falling in love. That was good enough for Todd, and they kissed.

At Rodi's, Gigi was so distracted that she dropped a tray of glasses. The manager cleaned up and told her to take a break. At a nearby table, Jared continued to mess with Tess, claiming that Natalie never even loved him in the first place. Tess seemed certain that her plan was working as Jared announced he'd move on with someone else. Tess suggested they have dinner later, then headed home to "check on Bree." After she was gone, Jared ran into Leo the contractor at the bar, who remarked that the blonde is "freaky, deaky." Jared played dumb and asked the guy to fill him on just how crazy "Jessica" is. After Jared offered to put him in touch with Charlie about possible work, the guy admitted that he built a room for Jessica in the basement.

At the hospital, Marcie pleaded with Adriana to look deep inside herself and realize what she's doing by keeping Gigi away from Rex. Even Layla agreed with Marcie. Adriana said she couldn't think about this right now and went in to see Rex, just as Roxy was asking her comatose son why Adriana can't be more like the sweet girl she used to be. "Because I was tired of being walked all over," Adriana interrupted. She even threatened to throw Roxy out and kept tossing the word "husband" around. As their argument escalated, Layla and Rex's physician had to intervene. The physician explained that "something" is holding Rex back from waking up and it can't be explained by conventional medicine.

While Gigi was out behind the bar failing to light a cigarette, Charlie passed by and pointed out that this was the place where he was found passed out. Charlie advised a brokenhearted Gigi that she has to trust that Rex loves her and will come back to her. Marcie called Gigi to let her know that trying to reason with Adriana didn't go very well. Marcie cried in Charlie's arms after hearing the news.

After a day of rolling around in bed, John asked Blair to join him for dinner. He later received a promising call about Marty's nurse, Janet, while Blair was changing. When Blair returned, John told her he got a lead on his case and needs to follow up tonight. She understood, and he assured her that he's glad they had a talk about their relationship.

Natalie just begged Tina to let her out, but Tina told Nat she can't do that. Tina tried to convince Natalie that deep down Tess is Jessica, but Natalie urged Tina to view Tess as an enemy. Natalie accused Tina of caring more about her "bling" than her niece — and wasn't too far off. Tina explained that it goes beyond the jewels, however, and that she fears Carlo Hesser's wrath. Natalie begged and pleaded, pawing at the glass, and finally managed to persuade Tina to let her out. Tina tried her hand at the electronic door, but it wouldn't budge. Tina left her alone momentarily, but Tess walked in just as Tina was retrieving a sledgehammer.

Friday

The doctors told Adriana and Rex's family that it appears that Rex didn't
want to wake up. Roxy accused Adriana of being the reason Rex wasn't waking
up. Adriana claimed it wasn't true. Roxy thought that Shane and Gigi would
wake him up pronto if Adriana would let them come to the hospital. No way,
replied Adriana. Adriana told the doctors to take Rex off the ventilator to
see if he would breath on his own. Roxy called Bo, who said he'd be right
over, but reminded him "No Gigi." Bo arrived right before the doctors took
him off the machine. Adriana asked to be by his side. Layla, clearly stuck
in the middle, told Roxy that Adriana was doing the right thing for Rex.
Roxy worried that Rex might not be able to breath on his own. Turns out, Rex
couldn't breath on his own. "Is he going to be alright," a panicked Adriana
asked. Roxy screamed at Adriana and said she should "let him see the woman
that he loves." Adriana started to cry and told Roxy that she thought Rex
might have a bad memory of being shot and that was why she was keeping Gigi
away. Roxy started to fight with Adriana. Bo broke them up. Layla explained
that everyone gets mad at each other when things like this happen. (Layla
had been in a similar situation with Evangeline.) Adriana wondered if Rex
had never seen Gigi, would they be living happily ever after? "Maybe Rex and
I were never meant to be," Adriana said her eyes filled with tears. The
doctors said it wasn't a good sign that Rex wasn't breathing on his own and
warned everyone to prepare for the worst.

Gigi asked Bo if he had any news on Rex. She asked Bo to help her get in to
see Gigi. Bo said he'd talked to Adriana, but didn't seem hopeful. "I can't
override hospital policy," he told a tearful Gigi. Bo reminded Gigi that
before she returned to Rex's life, Rex and Adriana were in love. Bo told
Gigi that Brody was being transferred to a VA psychiatric facility. Gigi was
in the precinct as the officers took him away. "Why did you shoot Rex," Gigi
asked Brody. Brody was taken away. Gigi remembered the good times with Rex.
Bo called her with the not-so-good news about Rex's condition.

Jared learned all the the secret room from the carpenter. "She may be hot
but she's one crazy broad," he said. Jared dashed over to Llanfair and
confronted Tess.

Natalie watched Tina and Tess battle in the kitchen over a sledge hammer.
"What were you doing down there," Tess screamed. "You are going to have to
let her out," Tina claimed. Tess rattled off all the things she had on Tina
and then headed to the living room and the safe. Jared charged into the
living room and put on an act that he was completely on Jessica's side.
Jared also pretended that he had given up on Natalie. Tina looked extremely
confused. Once Jessica left, Jared told Tina that he thinks Jessica is Tess.
Tina told Jared she knows all about the room. However, when Jared kept
pressing Tina for details, she started stumbling over her words. "Tess has
Natalie locked up down there," Jared insisted. Natalie was excited at the
thought of being rescued. Tina opened the basement door for Jared, who
rushed downstairs. Tina stood guard in front of the door with a huge carving
knife in her hand. Tina started to talk to a higher power and explained why
she was doing what she was doing. She asked to win the battle with Tess
"just this one round" and claimed not to care about the jewels. "Well, they
matter to me," a male voice said. "God?" she asked. Tina turned around and
saw Cain. Jared found Natalie behind the glass in the secret room. Tess
frantically tried to find Jared and instead ran into someone else. "What are
you doing here," she asked.
