Monday
Marty recounted her dream for Todd and was puzzled that she didn't fear John in it. Todd grumbled that Marty's starting to doubt him and told her to just go if she wants to be with John McBain. He handed her his cell phone but she stood up and gave it back to him, claiming that Janet and Todd are the only people she can trust. "What you and I have is real," she assured him, and they began to passionately kiss.
Rex was so happy after making love to Gigi that he feared it was only a dream. They declared their love for one another and kissed again, while Brody vowed to himself in the mirror that he is Shane's father and no one can change that. He flashed back to Gigi telling him to leave the carriage house, then suddenly aimed a gun at his image in the mirror. Rex, however, loved the prospect of being a father to Shane and couldn't wait to pick him up from school. He headed to the bathroom for a shower, kicking off a steamy montage of Rex and Gigi making out in the shower intercut with scenes of Brody freaking out in the shower, abs pulsating as he sobbed.
Natalie watched as Tess berated Tina for leaving the basement door open. Meanwhile, Jared brought David Vickers downstairs, where the dog sniffed around the cupboard/secret door. Tess threatened to call Bo once again and rat Tina out for stealing the jewels, reminding her that would put Sarah in danger. Tess went down to the basement to do some damage control and asked Jared how he got down there. He explained that Tina found the key and let him take D.V. She insisted that they go back upstairs, ironically pointing out that they won't find Natalie in the basement! Tess made sure she got that key back, then gave Tina a hard time for nearly making a reunion between Jared and Natalie possible. She even threatened to kill the dog if Tina blabbed. As Natalie watched their confrontation, she realized that Tina was cognizant of her whereabouts. Tess went back downstairs to taunt Natalie, who couldn't believe that Tess had managed to make Tina her accomplice. But Tina explained on the TV monitor and apologized to Natalie. Tess wouldn't reveal what she's holding over Tina's head. In the kitchen, Jared caught Tina talking out loud and asked who she was speaking with. Tina slipped and fell into his arms.
After their sexy shower, Rex began blaming himself for being an absentee father and was nervous about explaining the truth to Shane. At school, Shane got in trouble for flashing around the gruesome cartoon, but the class was interrupted by a knock on the door. Shane was surprised to see Brody standing there in his Navy formals. He introduced himself to the teacher as Shane's dad and the other students started asking questions about his outfit. The teacher quieted them down and Brody informed her that he's there to take Shane to a dentist appointment. He lied that Gigi had to work at the last minute and that's why he's picking up Shane. Brody looked nervous when Mrs. Gunnels wanted to call Gigi but managed to talk her out of it. When Rex and Gigi got to the school, they were confused upon hearing that Brody already picked up Shane, while Brody took Shane to the courthouse to have his last name legally changed to Lovett. When Shane went to hug Brody, it was revealed that Brody brought along his gun, which was peaking out from under his cap on the floor.
Tuesday
Rex and Gigi informed the teacher that there was no dentist appointment, and Gigi started freaking out. Rex tried to calm down Gigi, who regretted leaving Brody alone in the house. At the courthouse, Shane asked if Brody didn't go through the metal detector because of all his medals. As Brody concealed his gun, he nodded that that was the reason. Shane wanted to call his mom, but Brody wouldn't let him. Meanwhile, Gigi tried calling Brody, but he ignored his vibrating phone. The clerk returned with the paperwork and discussed the name change with Brody, who suggested they add Lovett to Shane's name and hyphenate. The man informed him that they need Gigi's permission. Brody was upset and later admitted to Shane that Gigi doesn't want him to be Shane's father anymore and wants Rex to take his place.
After the assembly debacle, Markko assured Starr that no one would ever give her a hard time again. He then confessed to feeling uncertain about Ray's sudden presence in Langston's life. Meanwhile, Dorian and Langston waited for the judge and Langston wondered if Dorian was trying to move up the adoption because she's threatened by Ray. Dorian informed her that Ray wants to become Langston's legal guardian. Langston tried to change the subject by telling the story about Starr at the assembly, but Dorian asked her how she really feels. Langston assured Dorian that she wants her to be her mom. But when they met with the judge, he informed them that an injunction had been
filed that could slow them down.
Natalie watched as Tina seemed close to confessing to Jared. Tess ran upstairs and stopped Tina before she could say anything, presenting an excuse about an urgent call from Sarah. Tess handed Jared a cup of tea, which Natalie feared contained the same drugs Tess gave her. After realizing that he doesn't belong at Llanfair without Natalie, he put down the mug and announced that he was moving to Angel Square. Tess jumped up and insisted that he stay, lying that they could both use a friend right now. She even said that he reminds her of Nash in the way he stands by Natalie and makes her feel safe. After she bemoaned not having anyone to help her through her pregnancy, Jared finally agreed to stay and they hugged. Natalie was going nuts in the basement as she was forced to watch their tender moment.
Things were heating up between Marty and Todd and they kept kissing as they fell onto the bed. Todd broke from the kiss and Marty wondered if his hesitation had to with their previous sexual encounter. Todd claimed that he didn't want to have sex because he doesn't have protection, remarking that the last thing they need is for her to get pregnant. She smiled, unsure whether that really was the last thing they need. She then admitted that she feels a certain pull toward having a baby and is excited to raise Starr's
child. She presented him with a catalogue of baby stuff and kept referring to the child as Starr's, so Todd suggested they use the phrase "our baby."
Marcie woke up at the carriage house with a huge gash on her forehead. She winced in pain and looked around the disheveled room, recalling her argument with Brody. Marcie called Gigi and urged her to come to the carriage house. Rex and Gigi soon returned home and Marcie explained how Brody was talking like he was going to war. Rex called the police to report the kidnapping. Over at the courthouse, Shane was getting really worked up about Brody's claim. Brody vowed that Rex would never take his place as Shane's father and asked Shane if he was in on Brody's "need-to-know" plan. Shane agreed, unaware of Brody's declining mental state. Meanwhile, Rex found an empty
lock box on the floor and asked if Brody owns a gun. Gigi looked horrified. After running into Dorian, Brody started to get nervous and kept holding the gun at his side. Suddenly, a security guard arrived and advised Brody to stay put. Brody put his arm around Shane and stood behind him — as though he were about to take him hostage.
Wednesday
Starr informed her worried mom that the principal is kicking her out of school. Meanwhile, Markko and Cole kicked a soccer ball around the school gym and talked about how Starr handled herself at the assembly. Blair couldn't believe that the principal wanted Starr to stay home until after she has the baby and urged the principal to reconsider. Markko and Cole overheard what was going on in the hall and threatened to quit the soccer team if the principal kicks Starr out. Blair issued another threat, reminding her of Starr's familial connections to three local media outlets. The principal caved and left the four of them to celebrate.
Dallas ran into Bo at the Palace and announced that she's staying on the floor below him. Clint arrived and Dallas remarked that he was looking much better than he did the other night. Once Dallas was gone, Bo asked about the stranger at the house and Clint hinted that he's the key to getting the family business back.
Judge Jenkins informed Dorian about the injunction, just as Ray arrived and announced that he wants to be Langston's legal guardian. An impromptu hearing got underway and Ray's lawyer even presented the judge with documents verifying Ray's identity. But Dorian had something else up her sleeve — a file on Ray's imprisonment for murder. Ray's lawyer claimed that all charges have been dropped in that case. Dorian was furious, demanding that her lawyer do something, and Langston was clearly disturbed by the showdown. Ray took the stand and delivered an impassioned speech about wanting to provide Langston with a true family. But Langston was moved by Dorian's subsequent plea, in which she stated Langston has her heart. Afterward, Langston requested to speak and explained that while she'd like to get to know her uncle and learn more about her family, she wants Dorian to be her mother. The judge retreated to deliberate. Langston phoned Markko to let him know what's going on.
At the Palace, Dallas agreed with Clint that he needs to do what he has to do to get his company back. Clint made a private call to Ray and asked if "it" was done. The judge returned from his chambers and announced that he'd come to a decision, just as Blair and the rest of the teens barged in. The judge continued, ruling that Langston is to be placed in the custody of Ray. Dorian was stunned.
The guard at the courthouse stopped Brody for going through security and bypassing the metal detector. Brody apologized but the guard insisted he go back through the detector. Meanwhile, Bo responded to Rex's 911 call with a team of officers and questioned Marcie about what Brody did and said before he left the carriage house. Privately, Rex asked what Bo really thought about Marcie's statement. "War changes a man," Bo noted, just as Brody and Shane arrived at Llantano Mountain. Shane asked what Brody has planned for them, and Brody said he brought them there to teach Shane about survival. Bo put an APB out on Shane and Brody, then received a call from someone who spotted them at the courthouse.
At the Angel Square Hotel, Charlie ran into Michael and recalled their first meeting, when they drowned their sorrows together. Michael said the only difference now is there's no longer a chance that he and Marcie will work things out. Charlie urged Michael to change his attitude, just as Marcie walked in. Michael immediately noticed her wound and showed great concern.
When Gigi, Rex and Bo arrived at the courthouse, the security guard explained that he had to escort an uncooperative Brody out of the building. Gigi and Rex were perplexed as to why Brody brought Shane there. Meanwhile, Brody suited up in his fatigues and started talking his war talk again. When Shane suggested they let Gigi know about their camping trip, Brody agreed and pretended to leave her a voicemail. He then compulsively laid out all his gear. Shane found him crouching on the ground holding his gun, a distant look in his eyes.
Thursday
John flashed a photo of Cristian to a guard, while Vanessa went to visit her "husband." When she exited Cristian's cell, she bumped into John and saw the photo of Cris. The warden pulled Vanessa aside and she handed him a wad of bills, trying to bribe him into releasing Cristian. She promised to remain silent about the "man in the photograph." Meanwhile, the guard whispered to John that if he comes back in 10 minutes, the guard will tell him what he needs to know. When he returned, John found a uniform lying on a table, with a nametag that read "Montez".
Antonio and Talia were getting ready to attend Jamie's soccer game when Layla and Sarah arrived with ingredients for making empanadas. Carlotta was happy to jump in, concerned that they didn't know what they were doing. Antonio was happy that his mom had a distraction from worrying about Cristian. As they rolled out dough made with yucca flour, Carlotta revealed that Cristian was the one who improved Carlotta's famous flan. She wouldn't reveal the secret ingredient and said she'd let Cris tell them when he comes home. Once the food was ready, they prayed for Cristian's safe return.
Langston's friends and family were infuriated by the judge's decision. The judge explained that he has no choice. Langston was speechless as Ray announced that she would love Colombia. Dorian addressed the judge and asked if he could live with turning an innocent young woman over to a potentially dangerous ex-convict. She recalled all the changes she'd seen Langston go
through over the last year and how much strength she's shown. When Dorian's calm plea became an emotional outburst, the judge had to silence her. She threatened to ruin his career, just like she did to the Buchanans, but the judge was unimpressed, ordering the guards to haul her to the jail.
Bo made some calls about putting out an AMBER alert. Gigi was filled with regret for not telling Shane the truth sooner. Bo informed them that Brody's Navy records are sealed. He did, however, have the photo they found blown up and was able to identify Wes Granger as Brody's fellow SEAL. Bo phoned
Granger, but the guy didn't want to talk about Brody. When he heard Gigi's voice, however, he said Brody used to talk about her all the time and became more cooperative. Gigi explained that something is happening to Brody and he's in trouble. When Wes learned that a young boy was involved, he mentioned that there was an "incident" in Iraq.
On the mountain, Shane reached out to touch Brody's gun, but he backed away and scolded the boy. Brody started to spook the kid as he raved about the danger of firearms, then began speaking to him like he was a soldier. Brody began a lesson on gun safety, prompting Shane to ask if Brody had ever killed anyone. He recalled going on his second tour to Iraq, where he saw his fair share of violence. Brody advised Shane not to be so cavalier when
discussing casualties of war, reminding him that those are people. Brody admitted that he did kill someone and it changed him. He then went back to their little lesson in target practice, and Shane was impressed when Brody popped his target. Shane begged Brody to let him shoot the gun. Brody started to have war flashbacks, and told Shane to go stand in front of the target, just as Wes revealed that Brody killed a young boy in Iraq.
Friday
In Colombia, John tried desperately to get a straight answer from the prison guard about what happened to Cristian. John lost his patience with the guard and slammed him against the wall, demanding answers. Just then, the crooked warden appeared and held John at gunpoint. The warden threatened to make John disappear forever.
In the courthouse, the teens were furious that Ray got custody of Langston and that Dorian was jailed for contempt. Blair tried to keep them calm and told them to focus on schoolwork while she dealt with the situation at hand.
Langston saw her uncle and demanded to know why he was dragging her away from the only life she's ever known. Starr wanted to know how Ray found them. He stated that he's only doing this out of love for his sister. Langston begged her uncle to let her stay.
At the police station, Gigi was frantic after learning that Brody had killed a boy in Iraq. As they listened to Brody's war buddy, Wes, he relayed how the squad was a week away from going home when the situation turned to chaos. A police officer interrupted to report Brody's car had been spotted entering Llantano Mountain State Park. As Bo mobilized the cops, Rex begged to follow them. Bo allowed it and told him and Gigi to stay out of trouble.
At Llantano Mountain, Brody agreed to let Shane fire his gun. However, Brody began to have flashbacks of the boy he killed in Iraq. Shane pestered Brody to let him fire the weapon. Brody gave in and instructed him in how to use the gun. Brody's visions of the Iraqi boy he killed got progressively worse.
Todd found some old pictures of John and Marty and cut John out of them.
Marty's caretaker was jealous of Todd's "great" relationship with Starr and mentioned that she was estranged from her own daughter. The caregiver was surprised to learn that Todd and Viki were siblings. She noted she was impressed with what a family man Todd is.
Markko and Cole were determined to stop Ray from taking Langston to Colombia.
Blair told the kids to go home while she got Dorian out of jail. Blair then went up to one of the cops and said, "Who's a girl got to sleep with to get her aunt out of jail?" The officer said it's a shame that John was out of the country. Blair was incensed.
Clint was pleased with the court's results. Dallas came back from shopping.
She told Clint that he'd better let Nora know she'd be staying with him. Nigel entered and shared that Nora went to see her daughter and would be back in a day or so. Clint instructed Nigel to help Dallas get settled. Clint then called Ray for an update. Ray informed him that Langston was taking it hard and Dorian had been jailed. Clint was delighted to hear about Dorian's fate and wished he'd been there to see her dragged off. He ordered Ray back to the guest house to discuss the next part of their plan. Dallas entered the room and heard the last part of his conversation. Clint said it's just his plan to get back B.E. Later, Dallas spotted Ray at the house and honored Clint's request not to mention his presence to anyone. Unbeknownst to them, Cole was in the hallway eavesdropping.
As Brody pulled Shane in for a hug, the cops showed up, weapons raised.
Brody was surrounded. Gigi begged Brody to let Shane go. Brody agreed and ordered Shane to go to his mother. Shane reluctantly complied. Bo tried talking him down, soldier to soldier, but nothing worked. Reliving his accidental killing of the 10-year-old Iraqi boy, Brody fired a random shot.
