I posted something on here about Palmer's will reading, but somehow it has vanished so I am making a new one. Although I found it very entertaining, I was really frustrated. I was glad that there was references to PC's family I thought leaving Courtlandt Electronics to Erica and Caleb was a bit much. To me, that meant that if the show brought some of his family back, they wouldn't have dibs at the company. I could go on and on but I want to hear from some of you guys out there and then I will tell you all what I would have liked to have seen that would have played to Palmer's and the show's history. I believe that giving Erica enough shares to make her a major player would have been okay, but to own the company when you have so many Courtlandts out there mystified me.
I think it would have been interesting if Palmer had left the company to Ross. It would have been an interesting way to reintroduce the character after being gone over 20 years. I could even have seen PC leave some shares to Tim Dillon as a way to resolve himself of some guilt after the way he treated Natalie all those years ago. Palmer has grandchildren who could have come in and fought for the company (hello MIchael, Bobby, Julie, or any unknown Ross kids), great grandkids that could have come in and caused trouble (Sam Grey, any unknown kids Julie may have had). Sam Grey would have been an interesting character since he would have been both Courtlandt and Martin (Tad's great nephew, Tara's grandson, Kelsey's son). In fact, when you go over Palmer's family's history, They include ties to the Martins, Grey/Maricks, Santoses, Kanes, and Chandlers. Look at all of that history to capitalize on. Instead, we get Caleb. I would have preferred Erica have shares and be a major player who could impact how the business is run from time to time, but instead, she was thrust into a story that no one wants and I am sure will be a complete snooze fest.
When these new writers first came on the scene, they were talking about how they were so into maintaining the history of AMC. Heck, Donna, one of the current head writers even used to work on AMC. So you would think they would look back in the history books and see all of the hidden potential for future storylines that could be featured around characters that we know and miss. Instead we get this uninteresting mountain man, who is going to swoop in and be the next man to ruin Jackson & Erica. These writers are just plain lazy. They don't take the time to do any research about the characters or their pasts. They just keep throwing together these insipid stories that lead nowhere.

I love your posts on this subject and like you, I am very disappointed for many reasons. As a Jerica fan, I am totally disgusted with these new hacks who have decided to decimate the relationship between them and for no good reason. Erica wouldn't look twice at Grizzly Adams, and I want one person to explain to me why she is thinking/dreaming about a person who treated her like dirt and was actually abusive her to physically and emotionally. If he kicked her one more time I was going to go through the tv and kick him back. Then couple this with having KWAK suddenly a paralegal and Jack's confidant, when they barely have spoken 10 words since the witch stole Miranda, is enough to throw me over the edge. Then they take Palmer, a man who was as savy as anyone and a man who loved his family, choosing some old geezer who he barely interacted with, as the "only person he trusts" as the will stated, is going to far. Palmer woudln't do that. Never. No how. No way. This is just a putrid attempt the put ERica with a grub nobody cares about and to trash J/E and their fanbase. Why couldn't Lorraine Broderick stayed as HW? She was the only one in the last 6 years that had the show beginning to get back on track and characters acting the way we remember them. These two new hacks came in and shot that all to heck. What is wrong with Brian Frons? Does he want this show to survive or does he want it cancelled? Sometimes I can't tell.
And let's us not forget, Caleb is a man that shoveled alcohol down Erica's throat, trashing her sobriety...I hardly think Erica would be daydreaming about this loser. Why is it they always have to introduce another man to trash Erica & Jackson's relationship? It's so overdone....and the audience is sick of it. I have always said, if you're going to introduce a third person to come inbetween Jackson & Erica, that third person should be a woman. I actually thoroughly enjoyed watching the banter between Krystal and Erica, the other day. It reminded me of the days of Erica & Brooke...which was always entertaining.
As far as Palmer giving control of Cordtland Enterprises to this mountain man and Erica.....this is just laughable. I don't understand what the writers are thinking. They are just way too many family members that could have benefited from this. Why not go with a character that the fans know and miss? Because the fans still haven't warmed up to the burly mountain man....and I don't see that happening any time soon.
There are two characters that I think they should bring back....actually there are more than that, but I think at the present time and the present "storyline" they are working with, and I use that term loosely, it would be a wise decision to bring these two back. I would re-introduce Tim Dillon and Ross Chandler. Ross could have and should have inherited the family business....he's a Chandler and a Cordtland, and he has a history with the show. And then bringing back Tim would give someone else for Amanda to be connected to on the show, plus there would always be tension between Tim & Ross....not to mention, if TPTB aren't able to convince TK to stay on in a more permanent basis, then the character of Tim would be an interesting match for Kendall....This would cause Erica to cringe, being that he is the son of Natalie, her arch nemesis. But what would I know? I'm just a fan who has been watching for years and years, who seems to care more about maintaining the history of the show than the current HW's.
Great minds think alike. With Tim's history on the show because of his family, he would be ideal to bring back to the show. Ross also. That would have been a way to reintroduce Julie, who could have been a love interest for Tad (if they won't bring back the late great lamented Dixie), or David which would finally root him to a core family and Julie could have humanized him. It also could bring any unknown children who would be both Courtlandt and Chandler and further cement the bloodlines between the two families. Why don't the writers see that. I like seeing corporate intrigue, but not over a cosmetics company that is always in trouble. I like it best when family members are trying to take what they think is rightfully theirs (think Quartermaines) or when people are warring over companies because of the histories of the families on the show (think Newmans/Abbotts). You are right, just think Natalie's son and Erica's daughter hooking up. Storyline goldmine. So many possibilities. Plus, he should be rich since Nat had a fortune when she died, and he could even try to bring the Chandler and Courtlandts to their knees. I or we need to be the show's headwriters, I am sure we could cook up something way more tasty than what we are getting now.
Totally agree with you. The next time AMC starts looking for writers, and I have a feeling they wil, we definitely need to drop our names in the hat. We couldn't do any worse than the last few hacks.
I just don't understand how you can be a writer working in this medium, and not do thorough research to utilize a show's history. And AMC is a show that is rich with history....and they have so many characters from the past that the fans still love and miss. Here's a small list:
Ross Chandler
Tim Dillon
Derrick Frye (I am kinda partial to him as the chief, rather than Jessie right now....Jessie is too hung up on David.) Don't get me wrong, I love Jessie Hubbard, but his obsession with Doctor David, is really starting to wear on my nerves.
Mimi Frye...they could have a killer trianle with Derrick, Mimi & Taylor (you remember her crazy azz?!)
Dixie
Leo & Vanessa (They could bring a brainwashed Leo back with his crazy mother. She could want to cash in as well from Palmer's will, since they were together for a bit. Let's say Leo has amnesia and his mother has convinced him to go back to his days of pulling off the next great con...it would be so juicy.)
If they did it right, they coud even MAYBE recast the role of Maria Santos. I loved her so much. I don't think she would come back to AMC, since she has a prime time gig, but her character offered so much to the canvas. And let's face it we need another doctor besides Angie.....and no, I don't count Frankie or Jake, since neither one of them spend more than five minutes at the hospital.
Maybe even try to revive the last few members of the Santos family.....they only have Maria, Anita & Mateo left....(We know we can't have Mateo back, but it would be nice to see what Anita has been up to these days.)
Anyways, you can see my point...there's tons of potential and tons of history, and the current HW's aren't utilizing on any of it. So, Fluffyboy, whenever you are ready, let's fly out to LA and make our show great again. LOL
.
I thought Maria always had something to add to the canvas myself. Before Zendall, I was hoping for Mach. I thought she had so much chemistry with Zach. And please don't get me started on probably my all time favorite AMC heroine Dixie. Well it is a toss up between Dixie and Natalie. I be hoping everyday that I will read late breaking news and they say Dixie is back for good. There is no one else for Tad and just think of the story that will generate for David because I always felt he was at his best when he was chasing Dixie. However, I will meet you in L.A. if they ever need headwriters because our years of watching the show could prove valuable. I know we could get that show back on track within a matter of months. Heck, I will even be a consultant if they need one.
I wish I could agree about your idea for bringing back Tim Dillon. He was a very insignifcant character. I cannot see what he would add to the show especially after watching yesterday's show. It's so apparent what a chasm the departures of David Canary and Thorsten Kaye left. What a appalling lack of male dominace there is. That is why I hope Caleb takes off.The scenes between Scott and Caleb were almost ludicrous. Next to Caleb, Scott looked like he belonged in the mailroom, not as the CEO of Chandler Enterprises. What were the writers thinking making him the head of the company? It was almost as bad as making Ryan own Cambias and the casino. What a lack of masculinity there is on AMC.We all know Caleb will turn out to be some business genius. Palmer was not a fool and would not leave his company in the hands of weaklings like Adam did. However, if you would like to bring back someone from the past, how about Trey? The brother Kendall and David share. There's a lot of potential there and one that doesn't include Kendall having to be involved romantically for a change.
And if they brought Trey back, it would be wonderful to see his crazy mother and half brother Leo also return. It would be a win, win situation.Although, I do disagree with your opinion of Tim Dillon....I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the importance of this character. He doesn't necessarily have to be involved with Kendall...but this character does hold a lot of history in his back pocket. His mother was a hugely popular character on the show and has tons of history to work with. And at this present time, AMC needs all the help they can get, and what better way than to fall back of some of that great history that this show was built on....rather that these fluff storylines they keep feeding the audience that go absolutely nowhere.

Tim Dillon might be connected to a lot of history being Natalie's son and Trevor's step son, but the character himself doesn't carry any more interest that this misbegotten character of Damon. He did not create any history of his own.The show is suffering, suffering from a lack of interesting characters and because the characters that are left should have been either written out a long time ago or backburnered. Madison, a cold blooded killer, Annie a cold blooded killer, neither of whom paid for their crimes. I still want to see Annie as the victim of murder. There may be some hope for Madison. And then there's Bianca the biggest hypocrite of all. How unctuous she is. How noble..taking over Fusion. Did she ask her sister if she could? No of course not. But then why should she ask about a minor thing like taking over for her sister at Fusion. She didn't ask when she wanted another child and had an inappropriate baby with Kendall's husband. Why start now.Until AMC rectifies these mistakes, I don't want to see Tim, Trey or anyone else. All the show seems to be doing is glossing over Pratt's mistakes instead of making an earnest effort to fix what he deciamted.
I totally agree. Tim was not insignificant. His conception and birth alone spawned some of the most riveting and engrossing drama in AMC history, and the characters involved included Jeremy, Erica, Palmer, Ross, Ellen, Adam, and Julie. Then as a teen, he played a major part in keeping Trevor and Janet apart. He should have a ton of money because Nat was rich when she died, and I am sure that Jeremy left him money when he died. His sister is on the canvas and is married into one of the prominent families in town. The time is ripe to have him come back with an edge and wreck havoc. He could have the best and worst traits that Natalie possessed. Along with his dad's because his dad was ruthless.
We are in total agreement on this one. Caran, I don't know how you can downplay the significance of Tim Dillon. He may not have been a MAJOR player on the scene, but he definitely has more significance than Damon, Caleb, Madison, Annie or any of the other horrible players that AMC has introduced recently.I do agree with you Caran, as far as AMC needing to fix the problems that have been going on. Justice needs to be served to so many characters. But as far as Tim, I would much rather have characters with some history with the show be re-introduced to the canvas, than to see another Annie, Damon, Marissa or Caleb jump on the scene. AMC is already working on another outsider to come in between Colby & Damon.....I mean, are any of us really interested in seeing that? I don't think so.
I know I am not because:1. I don't care about Colby despite her being the daughter of two of the most legendary AMC characters ever.2. I don't care for Damon despite his being the son of Tad.3. I don't want to see another newbie with no history or connection to the show.I would rather see Colby dating a Courtlandt heir. If not Pete, why not Sam Grey, Michael Warner, or even a son of Melanie or Julie. I say recast Colby, crank up the war again between Chandler and Courtlandt, and have one of the above characters appear on screen and let the story drive itself.
Why stop at Colby? I say get rid of Fake Liza, Marissa & Goofy Scott. I know some people like this version of Scott, but I think he is a cheesey goofball version of what Scott used to be. That's why the pairing of he and Annie is just laughable. AMC has quite a few people that need a pink slip....and Colby is definitely one of them.
I cannot understand why the show can't get a decent Colby. Maybe they should just rehire Amber Childers (?) who was actually doing an alright job before she got canned. I want Adam and Liza's daughter to be full of fire and be a force of nature. For some unknown reason, she isn't. I just am not feelilng Jamie Luner's Liza. It just ain't right that Marcy Walker is not playing Liza. She IS Liza to me. I like the fact that David has a child so I would just like for them to recast Marissa with someone who has a personality. No offense to Brittany Allen, but any daughter of David and Krystal's should have spunk and be able to concoct a scheme or two at will. I wonder if it is her fault or if it is the writing or both.
Babe always managed to have fire inside of her, I don't know why Marissa doesn't. God, I wish they would bring Babe back!!! I loved her with JR. I could see Babe & JR turning into the next Tad & Dixie, had they been given the time to grow over the years. Of course, I want the original Babe back, Alexa Havins, not Amanda Baker.
I loved Alexa's Babe also. I would have loved to see her and JR grow old together. Instead, we have JR with the insipid Marissa. I have given up on seeing Marissa grow a backbone and gain some spirit. After teasing us that she was going to have a David side emerge, nothing happened. So despite the fact that there are a lot more Annie haters than lovers out there, I am hoping that Annie manages to land JR. At least with those two, we will see a lot of push/pull, fire and desire, hot/cold action.
Totally agree with you on this one. I am soooo done with Marissa. I really don't understand why she is still a part of this show. She has no personality....and truly nothing to offer. And I'm sorry, I don't even feel a connection between her and her parents. Krystal & David had a true connection with Babe, and I believed that they were really family. Marissa is just a piece of the puzzle that doesn't fit.AMC needs to figure out a way to bring Babe back, and give Marissa her walking papers.
Wouldn't it had been fun, if Palmer left CE to Petey, Michael (Nina's son), and Bobby and maybe a son or daughter by Ross, and Erica had been left to run the company for them until they were ready to take over? I say fun, because we could have seen them fighting amongst themselves and/or Erica for the right to run the company. Or Ross come back and take over as the new patriarch of the family. I think that is one of the reasons alot of people aren't buying JR and Scott as trying to be the heads of the Chandlers. I am firm believer in that when you have major families, there should be a mature person who can reign in the youngsters. It makes the family dynamics that much more interesting. JR and Scott were much more interesting when Adam was on the canvas. He really is missed.
With "All My Children" heading to the West Coast in January, it has been speculated that Havins and a number of former "AMC" stars, who are now L.A. based, are being courted to come back to the drama series when filming begins in Los Angeles. Soap Opera Network has learned, however, that Havins will not be returning to the show as Babe nor as a look-alike or even a recast of Marissa Tasker (played by Brittany Allen), who is Babe's fraternal twin sister. According to sources, Havins has made it known that she has no desire to work on a soap ever again. "She is happy where she is and what she is doing. She has no intention of returning to 'All My Children.'"I guess after reading this no Alexa back on AMC.
Well....better actresses have said the same thing.....Dear Alexa,Please do not look down your nose at the industry that gave you a job, and introduced you to your husband. Remember where you came from, dear.Yours truly,an ex AMC fan
Totally agree with you Paul.....Alexa, don't forget where you came from. Millions of people watched you on a daily basis....cheering you on, and rooting for you. Don't belittle that. You may need those fans some day. Look at how many stars have left, and come running back to soaps.
I don't think she is necessarily looking down on soaps. Perhaps she has just decided that she has done this in her career and just wants new challanges. I am not a huge fan of Babe or Alexa frankly and I don't care if she ever came back but I don't think I feel comfortable assuming her reasons for not coming back have to do with her feeling better than soaps. That's just an assumption I am not comfortable making.

TPTB see that this constant bickering between Greenlee & Erica over Fusion is a complete bust, so now they are throwing Erica into the middle of the Cordtland's and their company. I don't understand this storyline, and think it's just a desperate attempt to force Caleb and Erica together....when no one is interested in seeing this pairing. TPTB have completely lost touch with their audience. I don't think they know which way is up anymore. The writing continues to get worse and worse, and the storylines feel like they were pulled out of a box of Cracker Jacks.I mean look at how stupid it is.....Adam divorced Annie, but she is still living at the Chandler mansion. Not to mention how she jumped from Adam, to JR and now she's with Scott. They don't know what they want to do with any of these characters. Why else would they have that insufferable Marissa still skipping around in her "Little House on The Prairie" way...dying for attention from anyone that will give it to her. Lord knows she couldn't get it from either one of her parents, and now her husband is throwing her over for the town psycho. Do us all a favor and get rid of Borissa.David can't stop committing crimes, and getting away with them.....which is getting so ridiculous.Bianca continues to act holier than thou....and we all know she needs to beg for forgiveness....And let's not forget how poorly they have dealt with the whole Cordtland family. They couldn't even bring Petey back to be at his father's memorial....or the will reading? And I would much rather see Ross make a return to Pine Valley, than have to go through, what I am sure will be months and months of pointless scenes between Erica & Caleb...leading up to her jumping into the sack with him. Bobby, Nina, Cliff, Ross, Melanie....there are so many family members that they could use to revive this family. Why in the heck would Palmer, a savvy business man, choose to leave his multi-billion dollar company to a recluse nephew from the mountains that probably doesn't know the first thing about business? Like I said, these stories are straight from the Cracker Jacks box.
