How many of you get tired of seeing the same storyling but with different characters? When I was driving home from work today, I got to thinking of the old Bewitched series where some of the episodes were reruns of an earlier episode. It kinda reminds me of how ATWT and other soaps recycle as you might say old scenes or storylines.

It's always the man who rapes a girl, or the man who abuses his wife/girlfriend, it's the man who molests their young daughters but in real life not much heard about is that some women are guily of the same crime.

I, for once, would like to see a woman rape a guy, or wife abuses her husband, or a woman molest her son or something to that sort. Yes I know it's mostly the men who is guilty but for once it would be a good change to see a woman do some of these things.

Ex: Let Spencer rape Brad and the story line in the same direction as it went. Let Janet do a physical abuse of Liberty. Let a female teacher have sex with one of her male students. We don't have to see it but at least talked about and the effects it might have on the teenagers. There are some good possibillities here. What do you think?

They've done a woman raping a man. Julia Lindsey raped Jack. It was treated like a joke and very poorly done and got a bad reaction from the fans. I certainly have no desire to see them do that type of story again.

If they done it correctly it would have been great. I think it's the writers that are getting slack in their writing cuz things are just getting boring. I fastforward through most of the stuff now

Charmed - the key here is that such storylines are 1)generally mishandled and 2)not actually "fun" to watch. Maybe it's just me, but I feel that assault, whether it's committed by a man or a woman, shouldn't be trotted out just to keep things from being "boring." It's too serious an issue for that.

I agree Mala that these types of stories are not fun to watch and are usually mishandled. Too often they are overlooked as if the victim should immediately be over it with no long lasting affects. I really wish soaps would stay away from these types of stories. In general there was a very bad fan reaction to the whole story of Julia raping Jack and many fans just refused to watch. No matter how it was handled, it was a story the viewers didn't want to see. And sadly Michael Park took some heat from fans on his own website upset with him that he agreed to do the story and he had to explain how actors don't have control over their stories and he didn't have the option of refusing. Nothing positive or entertaining came out of that story. They don't treat the issue serious enough. If they are oging to do it, they have to be far more responsible and responsible and soaps are two words that don't go together.

I agree that these type of stories are not fun to watch so when they are telling those stories, they should do it in a respectful way. And not like what they did with Alison during the election storyline.

but yet the same rape stories are being told. How many times have YOU said not another rape story? How many ways can that type of SL be told? I am just curious. I was just trying to come with another twist that does happen in real life.

Recycling storylines and situations has become all too common on this soap. Giving Brad a teenage daughter out of the blue last year was just an old rehash of a story that took place with his cousin Holden. Molly came out and it was discovered that she got pregnant with Holden's child when they were teenagers. But Abigail still wanted to meet him and she eventually moved to Oakdale as a 16 year old. Sound familiar? Molly went after Holden just like Janet first went after Brad. The writers didn't even go outside the Snyder family while repeating this story character for character, plot for plot. Alison having sex with Chris the night before her wedding was just a repeat of Carly sleeping with Mike the night before her wedding to Jack. Sometimes the characters aren't even changed to repeat a story. Case in point - Emily shoots Paul and shoves him off a cliff in 2006. In early 2008, Paul gets shot by Craig before going over a cliff again. Even Brian's "coming out story" was the exact same formula for Noah's coming out story. Both men got involved with women who were close to Luke. Both men became attracted to Luke and kissed him. Both men tried to play it off. Both men denied they were gay until the end of that story arc. I guess original ideas are really hard to come by these days.

My point exactly. Why tackle something new. Yes some ppl might not watch but others will. Maybe this is one of the reasons why ATWT is on the bottom of the rating. Can't the writers come up with something new? Hey if they need some ideas, have them get intouch with me. I can give them some.

In some of my early threads in this and other CBS soaps I lamented that the writers were rehashing old story lines. Thus they were unimaginative and overpaid. The current story lines for ATWT (and the other CBS soaps) are totally un-engaging. I don
