I agree with everything Mala said in her piece on this subject. But, it's not just Sonny's monstrous behavior in this half hour. It's the whole story. We knew from the day he was revealed to be an undercover cop that this is what would happen. Every single person in this little community around Sonny is responsible for this except for Carly & Morgan. Each person that has known Dante's identity & said nothing shares the responsibility with Sonny. Olivia & Jax especially. Time after time, from the day she learned she was pregnant 20 something years ago, Liv could've prevented this by simply telling Sonny the truth. In trying to protect her son from the danger of Sonny's world, she ironically sealed his fate. She had another chance when he graduated police academy. Yet she said nothing as he dreamed of the day he'd avenge his imagined father by arresting his real one. Then, when she decided to stay in PC, she had another chance to prevent this. Then, when Dante told her why he was there. Only twice did she try to stop this. She guilted Ronnie into taking him off the case & then, she went to Agent Rainer, who'd already been proven to be untrustworthy. All she had to do was tell Sonny Dominic was her son.
Jax has a huge share of the blame because he went behind his friend's back & practically painted a bull's eye on Dante's back by getting him back on the case. Then, knowing the truth about Claudia's death, he set about framing Sonny & supplying false evidence of his guilt. Worst was that he didn't even try to warn Dante that his cover had been blown, practically guaranteeing Sonny would shoot Dante.
Dante, himself, shares some of the blame. He had a way out. All he had to do was say he couldn't objectively do his job because his mother had a longstanding personal history with Sonny & that he had developed a personal friendship with Sonny's children.
Finally, there's Sonny. He learned absolutely nothing from when his "shoot first, think later" mentality put Carly in a coma or from when Claudia's "shoot first, think later" mentality put Michael in a coma for over a year & continues to cause the child emotional damage. He didn't even know for sure that Dominic was a cop. All he had, much like PCPD has against him, was a lot of circumstantial evidence. He didn't even bother to learn who Dominic Pirelli really was & that should cost him everything. But, because GH confuses their love for MB with what Sonny really is, this will actually be advantageous for Sonny & instead of losing everyone he loves, he'll gain a new son & probably get the mother of the son he shot, as well. For how coldbloodedly he shot an unarmed man, it's time Sonny really paid for his crimes, with his own pain. Not someone else's.
The thing is unless MB is leaving the show, Sonny will not go to jail & if they're casting a love interest for Michael, neither will he. Sonny may spend time in jail if it coincides with MB's vacation time, or a possible reunion of him & Alexis now that she's sort of dating Mac. That's how Sexis started. With Sonny in jail freaking out with his claustrophobia & Alexis helping him through it. If gcyn's spoilers are true, though, Liv & Dante will cover for Sonny. Sonny will, for once, be so rattled by his own actions that he'll try to do the right thing & everyone he loves will do everything they can to prevent it. I have a feeling Dante will sabotage the chain of evidence in the Claudia case, too. If this actually finally made Sonny & Jason leave the mob, the story would be worthwhile. But, since the writers apparently doubt their own ability to write anything but Sonny shoots, building explodes, innocent dies or is badly wounded, Sonny's remorseful, I don't see that happening. I'd like to see Sonny & Jason work to legitimize the business & for them to show the struggles they go through to avoid being pulled back into the mob. Sooner or later, they have to start being better role models for the 2 impressionable boys they influence & not leave it all up to Dante & Jax (if Carly hasn't dumped his azz).As for Michael, it's way past time they get that kid to a shrink. The doctors/PIs, Scorpio-Drake failed to do that back when they first realized something was off about him. His problems have only gotten worse since he killed Claudia. If they based his post-Claudia behavior on someone real in similar circumstances, Michael's physical health would by now be compromised. He told his mother he's not sleeping & according to their scenes together, he's not eating either. He's wound up all the time. Now, he's partially responsible for his father shooting his brother. That will only add to the kid's mental instability. They may need to let him get caught just so he can get treatment because now that he's 18, they can't force him to do it.
Okay, now that the initial shock has worn down, a few comments. As ill timed as Sonny's tantrum at Liv was, he was right about it being her fault, as much as it was his. Yes, we all know it wouldn't have happened if he wasn't a mobster. But he is & Liv has known it all her life. It's why she kept Dante from him. She knew that this would happen & like Sonny said, she had chance after chance. Also, I know Lulu was terrified & angry over what she surmised happened. But, she had no idea what went down & flipping out on Sonny was stupid. When she was in the house, she could see that EMTs had been there. For all she knew, Dante could've been doing one last assignment for Sonny & got shot. Sonny doesn't generally call an ambulance when he shoots to kill. He calls a cleanup crew. Then, her screaming his real name & that he was an undercover cop would have outed him if Sonny didn't already know. Then, there's Sonny acting as though he had no knowledge of Steven's surgical skills. I know he looks different now (LOL), but Sonny should remember the guy who saved his life when he was similarly wounded. I could be wrong, but I also think Steven is the one who operated on Carly when Sonny shot her. Now, the technical booboos:1.) When a call comes into 911 or a hospital ER, they're required by law to notify police, which means the cops wouldn't be banging into walls wondering where Dante was. They'd have been there with the EMTS.2.) Sonny's arrest would be ruled illegal based on Rainer's prior knowledge of Sonny's relationship to Dante. Also, Olivia's knowledge that her son was undercover to bust his own father would also compromise all the evidence Dante collected. All Diane would have to do is raise reasonable doubt about Dante's knowledge about his paternity. Which means in real life, the case against Sonny would not stand up to a grand jury.

Technical boo boo's aside....It's not like Sonny was ever in any real danger of jail time! Puhleez! If GH wants to shock us...MAKE A CHARACTER ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS!!!
If GH wants to shock us...MAKE A CHARACTER ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS!!! LOL....Good one, paul.

Since no one has been accountable on GH since Blackie, Sonny won't be going to jail anytime soon. So tired of him giving Olivia grief. She owes him????? because she didn't tell him about his son. I'm glad that she said that she'd do it all over again if she had to. Tired of Sonny's whining and his constant "I love my son" crap. He shot Dante, plain and simple.Carly needs to get a life as well. Her world and marriage are collapsing around her and yet she's at the hospital trying to brow beat Dante into lying. What part of undercover cop doesn't she understand? He came to town to take Sonny down and did his job. He doesn't "owe" anyone, anything. For all of the rumors that Jason still wants to kill Dante, he's the only one that seems to get it. He now worries about his son growing up without him and hating him for what he does. For someone who's brain damaged and supposedly can't feel anything, Jason seems to be the only one that has sincere emotions and appears to care for those around him.
I gotta agree with all you just said.I know some are down on Jax, but I get why he did what he did. To me he's the only one who trys to protect Sonnys own kids. He may have cold have done a few things different, but still he wanted to protect the kids...Carly who I have loved is getting on my last nerve...a lot of the poeple of PC are really.I'd love to see Sonny go to jail.
I totally agree. I mean, really Jax is the only one that his mind and heart in the right place, sure he could handled things slightly different, but aren't there always, coulda, shoulda, wouldas? Also, it is amazing how now Dante is being made out to be the bad guy in all of this. Crminy he is the ONLY one who has successfully infiltrated Sonny's "airtight" organziation and is willing to put him down for the count! I love Carly, but right now I am glad to see she is getting what she deserves. A reality check (hopefully anyway) especially with Jax taking custody of Jocelyn.
I love Carly too but right now I am totally pissed off at her azz. I'm so glad Olivia put her in her place. She need to get her azz back home to Jax and leave Sonny to Jason.

I completely and totally agree with you. There is so much blame to go around for what happened to Dante. All I know is, Sonny better go to jail for attempted murder. I'm so sick of Jason, Sonny and Spinelli getting away with all of their crimes. How is it that the PCPD can't trace someone hacking in their computer systems? Jax should just feel like a big jerk, because he could have prevented Dante from being shot. All he had to do was tell Dante that Michael overheard him and Johnny talking. Of course, Dante could have just went through with arresting Sonny before Jocelyn's christening. This whole thing about giving Sonny time to spend with his family is just crap. Dante had a job to do and he got a little too comfortable and made a stupid decision. When his mom said that Sonny was acting strangely, he should have taken that as a big clue and called for back-up when Sonny asked to see him. The one thing that I hope happens, the most is I want Olivia to go up and slap the hell out of Michael, because yet again Michael goes off and sets something in motion that causes someone to get hurt. I'm sick of everyone turning a blind eye to everything that he does. It's time for someone to check Michael at the door.
