Forums
Welcome our new Off Topic Forum. This is the area to post about truly off-topic topics, like politics, sports and other chats that don't have anything to do with soap operas. But just because it's not about soaps, don't think the rules don't apply: Remember to be polite and respectful; we don't want to have to remove someone because a politcal discussion devolved into personal attacks.
Have fun and play nice!
WOOHOO to the new OT forum! It'll be a great way to learn of some other interests that we soap lovers share.
Awesome. Glad you like it! I figured it was about time.
Can any one tell me why SOD hates Republicans?
I can't imagine why you got the idea that SOD hates Republicans. That is absolutely untrue. We respect all political viewpoints!
SOD history -2000 Gore - 2004 Kerry - Sept. 2008 Obama & Biden in back to back issues. No Bush - no McCain! The only soap star to evan admit to being a Republican, Steve Burton. I've been reading SOD since it came out. I'm a 50 yr. old woman, not some "20 something" who's jumping on the Democrtaic bandwagon to be part of the in crowd! If your going to play politics, then play fair to both sides. Thats the bottom line. Hey, it's only my opinion!
SOD and WEEKLY report the news and happenings in and around the soap world. I'm sorry if you're disappointed that more soap stars don't openly support the Republican party, but it's not 'playing politics' to note those supporting the Democrats. Additionally, everyone has their own reasons for supporting a particular candidate. The implication that only those who are young and foolish support the Obama/Biden ticket is not an attitude that is welcome here, just as it wouldn't be if the same assertion was made regarding McCain/Palin. Honest, thoughtful dialogue is always encouraged, but so far, your posts only seem structured to bait people into an angry reaction. Please see our forum guidelines for appropriate posting etiquette.Thanks.
I'm truly sorry if I may have offended any one with my opinions. I wasn't trying to bait an angry responce from other readers. I asked a question that bothers me every 4 years. I subscribe to SOD for soap opera entertainment. An as a loyal, long time subscriber of SOD, I thought my opinion would be valued. Stepping on toes was not my intent. What SOD puts in the magizine is their choice, not the actors.
Your opinion IS valued. However, politics are a delicate issue, especially this close to election season. Since "tone" is hard to gauge on the Internet, it appeared your points were constructed in an instigating manner.Again, if daytime actors were out and about doing events for Republican candidates, we'd be happy to feature them. It's a matter of giving our readers access to what the actors are doing. It doesn't mean we endorse Mary Beth Evans' pie company or Jack Wagner's music, etc. (Although I'm sure Evans' pies are fabulous!)
As an 80's child I think everyone should endorse Jack Wagner's music, hee hee hee. I think you are not seeing more soap republicans come out because well guess what, they are CONSERVATIVE! This is a crazy election year, very emotional for all parties and a lot to win or lose. If you are in the public eye as an entertainer, it is not always best to express your opinion as it can hurt your career. It shouldn't be that way, but welcome to reality. Take the extreme example of Jane Fonda, and yes I did clarify extreme example. As a general rule, politics and the workplace do not mesh. All I care about is that people get out and actually vote, I don't care for what party, but use the freedom we have to express your opinion. If you don't vote, you can't complain. Okay enough of my "SOAP" box.

I think that people should be talking about both Gossip Girl and Dirty Sexy, Money...Now if those 2 aren't considered soaps I don't know what would. I love Blair myself
