West Out as Y&R's Diane

Soap Opera Weekly has learned that Maura West was let go from her role as YOUNG AND RESTLESS's Diane last Friday, May 20. Sources say that character will be exiting in a rather dramatic way. See future issues of Weekly and Digest for more.

Maura is a great actress and she gets the job done.I been watching her for years on ATWT. She makes her character real, I was so happy she came to Y&R. You should really think hard about not letting her go.
I don't care for Diane, Phyllis or Adam on Young & Restless.
Can't believe they are letting a beautiful and fantastic actress like Maura go while we have to keep enduring such horrible acting by Lynn Latham as Phyllis and Tricia Cast as Nina. Someone is wayyyy off on this casting decision!!!

Worse acting on Y&R is Paul's daughter, what's her name. She's so boring, I could careless to know.
It is unbelievable that Y&R is going to let such good talent leave the show. I have been watching for at least 45 years and if she goes - so will I. The writers are getting boring any way, it is not her fault. Victoria Rowell's role should have never been written off either, she was also a great actress. Maybe it is time for Y&R to hire new writers!
I have been a fan of Maura West since she began her roll as Carly on As The World Turns. I am so sorry to hear that she is leaving the show. She is a very talented actress. Wishing her all the best!
I am 42 years old and have watched Y & R since I was a little girl with my mom. My daughter now watches it with me. I can not believe that Y & R is letting her go. First they wanted to send Daniel Goddard away and thank god they came to their senses. Maura West was a great Diane. I dont think gave her enough time for some of the viewers to get used to her. If Bold & the Beautiful have any sense at all they will snatch her up ASAP. There is plenty of storylines that they can come up with. They could finally end this Hope/Liam/Oliver storyline that is BORING and find a way for her to shake things up. Look how well Don Diamont and Heather Tom are doing! Y & R loss is B & B gain. B&B get Maura NOW!!!!!
Am really sad to see her leave the show. I thought it was a great story line..and her and Nick should be together. Am really going to miss her. She is a Lady you love to hate!
I have been a soap opera viewer for over 47 years and now I'm down to two of my favorites on CBS. Maura was great as Carly on ATWT; I personally don't care for the character Diane, but Maura plays it well and with more classw yet being devious; but that's my personal observation. It would be hopeful if the writers or cast could utilizer her acting in The Bold and Beautiful. The Amber/Tawny storyline is getting pretty old and I think Maura could add some spark- perhaps someone for Nick.
My goodness, with all of the bad actors on "The
Young and the Restless", could they really let Maura
West go.?? It had to be a conflict of egos. Star of "As
the World Turns" to bit player on "Y&R". I think It's
their loss. She'll turn up somewhere. !

Thank God she's gone. I hated listening to her talk. She was not right for the part of Diane.
just as a point of reference, Ms. West grew up with
deaf parents. Her speech patterns reflect their influence
on hers. I'll assume you didn't know this fact. No apology
needed.

I hope all of the actors from OLTL and AMC take this into account when their shows go off and Y&R comes calling. Used and spit out.
I was saddened when As The World Turns ended because I knew that my afternoons would not be the same without my "CarJack". I loved Maura and Michael so much as a couple and for being terrific actors. When I saw that Maura was going to be the new Diane Jenkins, I did not like the idea because the character of Diane was supposed to be about Jack's age. I did not like that they put her in a position where I am sure most people who did not know her acting ability would probably make negative comments. Maura is a terrific actress and I never thought that her talent would be wasted on such a trashy character as Diane. I just hope that her next vehicle will use her talent for better than Y&R utilized her. Also, I agree with the writing on Y&R now because it is getting so lame. The Lily/Cane storyline and the Sharon/whomever storyline needs to be re-tooled. Besides, what are they going to do with Adam if there is no Sharon?
Is it possible to find out what Maura West is wearing on this picture? Is it a blouse or a dress in the dark green leaf colors. It is absolutely gorgeous! It suit her very well. What ever it is, where may I purchase it please.
I'm also sad to see Maura leave Y&R. Hopefully we can enjoy Maura's many talents in the future.

Julie, I registered to post here just to answer you. I also love that look.I am not sure who it is by, because I am not a 'clothes hog'!, but do believe that it is a sleveless dress with a scarf in matching hues and pattern which is cleverly tied at her left shoulder/neckline; actually just below the neckline; I believe that I saw a similar look in a recent People mag, maybe from a red carpet show!! but cannot remember the description or designner name. I went to webcrawler.com and looked for ladies dresses and found some similat colorings but none w/the neck/shoulder effect. Good lunk in your search.

I noticed that blouse too. It is eye-catching.
I came to this soap because Maura did. I was devoted to As The World Turns, which I still consider to be the best soap on TV... the writers had a sense of humor and a lot of class. They never took the show too seriously, which made it fun! Maura was beyond fantastic as Carly Tenney. That was the consummate soap opera character! And her husband, Jack, was just awesome. But then again I loved everyone on that soap. I followed a few of them to other soaps, Maura to Y&R, Terri Conn to OLTL, Daniel Cosgrove and Sarah Glendening to AMC and now Roger Howarth back at OLTL. But I never watched Y&R, I always thought it was stuffy and old fashioned. Now I am sure of it. Characters like Victor and Nicki and Jack and Phyllis are old school. I am sure I won't be watching it after Maura leaves. Just too old fashioned for me. I might change my mind though if they dump the Victor character and bring in someone more modern. Maybe Roger Howarth can bring some new blood to this tired old soap if they can get him after OLTL dies in January.
I can't believe they'd take Maura off this show.. She's wonderful in the role and would have been GREAT with Nick.. I just can't seen him waddling back to Phyllis.. This is getting tiresome.. Phyllis is jumping back and forth between Nick and Jack and I want to puke.. When Sharon gets back and thinks she AGAIN is in love with Nick... that too makes me want to Puke.. Can't you find these women DIFFERENT men??? AND if you want to prove raspy old wrinkled VIC TORRRRR is a good actor, I guess you can... He has made me sick watching him... He's the most arragant silly man on the Y & R. WOW he really thinks he's something huh? At least with Maura, we finally HAD a GREAT actor, who you didn't feel embarrassed watching.... and of course you take her off.. I think you do these things because it show how awful some of the others REALLY are. I'm NOT saying all... Y & R has some GREAT actors... but come on folks.... Sharon????? Poor ol Ester????to name a few.... There are a lot out of work now.. Surely you could make this into one heck of a show... One to contend with... Or maybe you just like idiots... ha
Wow, Maura West sacked! Maura was dynamite on ATWT. Her character as Diane seems to pale in comparison. Her return back to Y&R in Lalaland was short-lived. If OLTL would be magically un-cancelled, I think she and Michael Park would make the soap #2 in the ratings for sure.
I can't believe I'm reading this about Maura; one of the most talented actress's around. I watched her when she was on As The World Turns both times and won a daytime emmy. Too think she just moved with her husband & five children out to California for this role.
It will be a huge loss to the show, wish she would come back to New York and reunite with Michael Park in a broadway show.

I was really enjoying her performance. I was really hoping to see a show-down between Nick and Victor over Diane. The writers made it difficult for the audience to connect with the character since she was involved in so many triangles, but no one wanted her: Victor/Nick...Victor/Nikki...Jack/Victor...Tucker/Ashley...Adam/Nick...really...couldn't they find anyone for her?
Yes Maura is one of the best actors on daytime TV and this is a huge loss. I do agree that she was not right for this role. She was too young to play Diane. I think they should have created a new character for her instead and she could have stayed longer. I am sure she was not cheap either so this may be away to afford Genie Francis. Good luck to you Maura. You should be in primetime anyway.
Why would she leave so soon without diane there's no drama cuz this adoption story line with lucy is horrible. Why did victor marry diane just to divorce her 12 weeks later dumb oh don't get me started on the lame lilly story line or the spoiled abby letting her mom take the rap on attempted murder can't wait till abby gets hers
I saw it coming before she got to town. They were not going to cast her correctly the moment they had her bed Tucker, whom she did not even know that well, if at all. This is the writers fault not a reflection on MW. I hope they do not do the same with Geni Francis that is the s/l that I keep up with the Ashbys Atkinsons, Winters and Chancellors. The rest I can do without.
I think she is amazing. I think the part just wasn't right for her.
She was one of the best things to happen on this show for a long time. She did a great job. It is a loss to the show.
The writers/producers are morons! Maura is awesome and I've loved her Diane. Granted her character is a grasping morally corrupt woman but that makes her interesting. Maura---I'm sure you'll land on your feet. You're a wonderful actress and this is totally Y&R's loss!
Morally corrupt? I think that is the very thing that made her character boring. There are enough morally corupt to fill the earth. I think the trend is about to reverse it self and some times it is so refreshing to see someone on screen that is not morally corrupt. Intriguing maybe and corrupt but bed hopping is not that interesting.
