Romance is based upon a relationship of growth, respect, love, tolerance, patience, trust, etc. This is what the long time daytime romances in the old days were based upon and daytime tv seems to have lost that art because the audience isn't patient enough to follow storylines beyond a month. Too bad.

Sami's relationship with Rafe is based upon someone as a protector. She hasn't had enough time to really get to know Rafe or he her, but may in time have a great relationship. Their relationship has not evolved into what could sustain over years, but then again tv audiences aren't patient enough to watch. This may have had a chance, but having him move in right away was a joke. As a mother, you don't have a man just move in. As a responsible adult who cares about ones kids, you just don't do that to your kids. Let's get real.

Sami's relationship with EJ is based upon rape, violence, torment, torture, and mental control. How that is a romance it beyond me, but there are people out there who believe this to be something wonderful and great. Oh well. Don't shoot me, I'm allowed to have my own opinion and I have been watching Days for over 30 years.

Sami's relationship with Austin was a friendship that could last time, but lacked the chemistry. She wanted to have someone love her unconditionally and Austin only loved Carrie that way.

Sami's relationship with Brandon was based upon a first love and infatuation. It was never given the time to mature.

Sami's relationship with Lucas is all over the board, but their relationship developed over time. Both characters changed and became different people. There was one thing that was constant though and that was their connection to one another. Something that encompasses friendship and loyalty. Whether it will be something in the future is yet to be seen, but you cannot deny that they had incredible chemistry on screen. Just looking at the hundreds of videos made by their fans shows just how powerful their relationship has stood time.

So if I was going to support daytime tv and romance, there is only one choice - Sami and Lucas.
