Can I just say how ridiculous the beginning of todays show has been?!?! I am sorry, but Michael has been in a coma since he was how old in TV years? Why would he all the sudden be okay with wanting to smoke pot! He should still have a somewhat child's mentality. Where are these writers getting all of this?
I agree...the actor is great. I like him. I was really attached to Cash but I knew his character would have to grow up eventually. What I don't like is the details they are leaving out of Michael and Kristina. I understand Michael is angry, but other than some issues with his body and that anger, they aren't showing any mental effects of the coma. He went from being this sweet innocent kid to raging teenager that jumps at the chance to smoke pot. When in his comatose state did he get the influence for that?
Yes! You got it! The least thing they could do is respect the audience enough to know that they will catch the gap in time from Cash to teen Garrett. Put in a few scenes here & there to fudge the details & fill in the gaps. They can make up whole plotlines that are inconsistant with existing history (the Luke/Holly/Ethan story), but they can't throw in family scenes with Garrett before the shooting or refilm that incident with him playing Michael like they did with Carly scenes when Laura Wright took over the role? I don't believe it. Michael was only in a coma for a year. What was 15 year old Michael into before the shooting? Did he have a special girl he liked? That is what's wrong with aging characters while they're comatose. The writers never follow through with details to make it more consistant with what the audience remembers.
It seems to me that the audinance knows more about the characters and history that the writers and other PTB. Sad thing is they probably make it very difficult to get a job there. I bet you have to be a college grad with certain degrees etc., but as far as the show goes they must only need to know its name. If one of the writers showed some initative and researched the history they could go far maybe even become head writer (hint, hint, hint) and the fans would love it.
Not to be a downer, but I really do not think TPTB care in the least. It seems that they get on these ego trips, and write ONLY their visions, stupid or not, and could care less what we think. Maybe sometime soon there will be a change of guard. Hopefully they will still have viewers by then.
Quote:He went from being this sweet innocent kid to raging teenager that jumps at the chance to smoke pot. Not sure when Michael was a sweet innocent kid. Most posts agree that he was a spoiled brat that always attempted to manipulate his parents. Let's see, he wanted to work in his father's real business. He wanted a gun to protect his mother and brother and ended up shooting Kate. He ran away from home so that his father wouldn't punish him. But there were no consequences for him for shooting Kate, so I don't believe he learned anything. He asked his father and Jason a couple of times to take out people that were giving his family a rough time.It appears that the new Michael, while having the uncontrollable rage thing going, is not as consciously violent as he was before. Seems a little more mature in his outlook. The old Michael would have wanted a gun so that he could shoot the person that did this to him, himself.
I think you're right. Before, Michael was mischieviously violent. This new Michael might have rages, but he's not out for revenge like I thought Michael would have been.
First of all, the pot wasn't even his. Kristina had it. She stashed under his hospital mattress. Then again, wouldnt you be a little bit screwed up. You wake up a year later to find out that your mom is married to Jax your dad's enemy and is pregnant. Your dad didn't end up marrying Kate, but Claudia Zacharra from a rival family, and she is pregnant. When you do wake up, the first person you see is your cousin Lulu who you had any interaction before the shooting. Seems to me I would do anything to numb the shocks after only being awake for like three days.
All the more reason for Michael to be talking to a psychiatrist and possibly being on legal meds.
Ah but that makes sense so you know we won't be seeing it anytime soon. They'll probably wait until after he hurts himself or someone else in one of his rages, then they'll all point fingers at each other about who should have taken care of it before it got this bad. In the end the loser is still Michael.
I think when Michael saw what happened to Kate when he shot her, that it made an impression on him & when Sonny took him to the warehouse, he explained why he was there & Michael understood. He did wake up wanting revenge until he found out the shooter was dead. As for waking up & finding his mother married to Jax, she married him long before Michael was shot. Carly & Jax were about to celebrate their first anniversary when he was shot. It was the new baby that freaked (still does) him out, which still puzzles me. He'd been excited the last time she was pregnant & he's the one who was hoping it was a girl. Hopefully, it's temporary.
Also why doesn't he have a problem with his Dad and Claudia having a baby?
I guess because he's so used to Sonny fathering the entire population of Port Charles under the age of 17. He probably figures with Sonny what's one more kid?
I certainly hope Sonny is not the one to do the birds and bees talk with Michael. Although to be a fly on the wall--with Sonny telling him one thing and Michael knowing his Dad didn't act like that and calling him on it.
That would be funny. The only way that kid won't be a dog is if Jason talks to him before either Jax or Sonny does. Otherwise, Sonny will be answering to, "grandpa" in about a year & a half or 2 years & not from Dante's kids.
As I watched Michael & Kristina in the bar scenes today, I had a bit of deja vu. It reminded me alot of Jason & Carly back in the day. Especially the way Kristina defended Michael to that skunk she was with. Very Carly whenever someone would talk trash about Jason's brain damage. I look forward to the growth of their hopefully platonic friendship as brother & sister. Michael's way of thinking & reacting was also very Jason, with some AJ thrown in. Pretending to be knocked out & then, with catlike reflexes, springing up & popping that brat in the face was a play out of Jason's book when he's in a shootout. The pure joy he got out of his newfound strength & power was all AJ. This young man is absolutely perfect in this role & I look forward to watching him grow & mature as a character & an actor.
I agree. Although he still gets on my nerves a little (always have) for the most part I enjoy him. I think he will turn out to be more like Jason than AJ though. jmo
I hope so. AJ had so many problems I do not want to see Michael have to deal with in addition to the day to day problems being Sonny's son brings. Hopefully, Jason could teach him how to calm down & control that rage. As it is, if this problem doesn't go away & has become a permanent part of his personality, the only way to protect him will be to let him into the family biz. He won't be able to hold a regular job if anything could set him off. It would be too dangerous for himself & for others around him.
Oh you can bet he will end up in the business. Hell, he already knows how to shoot.
LOL! Not quite. When he dropped it, the gun went off. Although, even dropping it & it misfiring, he still had better aim than Sonny.
Oh yea.
All of that being said, Michael and Kristina still have no business being in Jake's. They are underage and can get into plenty of trouble at Kelly's or some other place. I can't believe that Coleman actually served them. Didn't think that he was that gullible or stupid. There is no way that Kristina looks old enough to be served unless the drinking age is 14.The whole scene could have happened at Kelly's. Since Alexis is now going to become a bad mother, she could have been just as upset having her daughter with Michael because of his rages and the fact that there was a fight. As for Michael's rages, when is he going to see a doctor???
Coleman wasn't there at the time. It was somebody else we've never seen before. But I don't think the guy had a chance to serve them before the fight broke out.
I believe that Michael had a bottle of beer when he played pool with Johnny. So he was served at some time.
It still wasn't Coleman. He asked for id and like the brat he always was, says my name is Michael Corthinos, is that id enough? Or something as equally stupid and the guy served him. Coleman would have probably called Jason. And same guy also carded Kristina and rat-fink, but their fake id's were top of the line.
After he got knocked out, Michael was drinking water & he told Alexis that was all he had, but it could've been instinct to lie to the DA. Coleman would've served them soda & played them along & then call Jason.
I couldn't help feeling sorry for Michael after he blew up at his mom & scared his brother. He's as scared & frustrated about it as they are. Patrick's been very irresponsible in all of this. He may have said that this is a symptom of his brain healing, but he also said Michael could go back to his life & live normally. How is someone who erupts into violent rage with no warning & sometimes no real provocation, that he cannot control supposed to go back to their life & live normally? I'm sure that Lainey could probably teach him some coping exercises & breathing techniques, but that hasn't even been suggested. Let's just send a TEENAGER out to live a normal life when we know he's a ticking time bomb that can go off at any time. Then, when the kid kills someone, we'll all act surprised. Right about then, Diane should dump the frivolous lawsuit against Patrick & file one that really has grounds.
You're right. It's become really apparent that Michael is not stupid. He knows exactly what's going on in his life and he's not happy about. When will some adult listen to him and get him the help he needs?
He was drinking water when Alexis got there but he was drinking a bud light , when he was playing pool with Johnny.Well it won't be Sonny, cause he's proud of him. I was shaking my head when I heard that. I understand where he's coming from, but it was the wrong thing to say at the time. How can you praise him for skipping physical therapy, going Jake's drinking beer & fighting, yelling & throwing things at his mother and scaring his little brother, lying to other adults, and sneaking out of the house instead of facing the situation. I'm sure Sonny meant he was proud of Michael for acknowledging & trying to get help, but he can't not address what happened earlier that night.
Michael is trying to address it & so are the parents, but they're following Patrick's lead. He's the brain surgeon, not them. Not once has he suggested counciling for the kid on how to control those impulses. He just sent him out into the world with NO preparation for what to do when those rages take hold. That poor kid's going to end up killing someone & his life will be ruined because Patrick was too busy congratulating himself on what a genius he is & then, lording that genius over the lesser accomplished baby brother to bother being a doctor or at least recomending one for him.
And now Patrick is too involved trying to find out what happened with the Mayor's mistress to care about his other patients. He had better give his ego a rest and take a good look at Michael or he's going to have a real malpractice suit on his hands. Also if Michael gets himself hurt during one of these rages Sonny may just decide its Patrick's fault and make an example of him.
Sure Patrick could do more, but his parents are tip-toeing around him and acting like he's fine when they know he isn't. Jason has told both of them. Carly's trying but she's so distraut because their relationship has changed, she almost made me cry the other day when she was telling Jax how much she missed him. I think Sonny is completely missing it and Michael's gonna get worse because of it.
I am disappointed in Patrick's lack of attention to Michael's behavior. Even Robin was on the recieving end of it. I would have thought that alone would have triggered therapy, but maybe becuase it isn't PPD, no one needs therapy??
As far as Michael goes, am loving the new actor, not loving the storyline. I am almost wondering if Michael will a) one day use his brain damage as a crutch to not aspire to his potential, or b) use it to manipulate the people around him. I am already starting to see signs of either possibility. Michael says he needs help, tell your doctor!!! Ask them to send you to a therapist!! He already thinks he is an adult anyway. Which is something else that bothers me.
Poor Carly is in denial about a lot of this. It's likes she says all the right things, but doesn't want to act for fear of losing Michael? Not sure. She has been doing a great job though.
Alexis made a comment today that she hoped that Michael was in intensive therapy. Maybe she should talk to Sonny, hell even Patrick or Jason.
Yeah. She could fix all the problems of someone else's kid while her kid's life goes down the tubes. I hate to say this, but Claudia was right on the money about what's going to become of Kristina. She was Kristina. She wasn't always the obnoxious [censored] she is now. She spends 0 time with Kristina & knows her better than her own mother. That's pathetic. As for what Alexis said about Michael & therapy, she has no place talking to Michael about that. If she wants to stick her nose in, she should speak to Sonny, because saying it to Carly & Jax won't work. It's looking more & more like Michael's going into the mob one way or another. Naturally, Johnny will not only turn him down, but tell Jason about the conversation as well. So, he's left with the alternative of joining a rival family or the dissatisfied Zacchara goons. This is all because neither Jason nor Sonny has had an honest, stark conversation with that kid about the business, about how & why they (Sonny especially) got into that business, the details, what it feels like to take the life of another human being. Sonny should be honest about all of that with Michael. He's no longer a child & needs to see more than the power Sonny wields or the fear in people's eyes when Sonny enters a room. He needs to see inside Sonny's tormented soul. Sonny needs to tell him about what haunts him & then tell him that these things are why he doesn't want him in the business. He also needs to tell the story they've always glossed over about how his mother really reacted when she found out how he was making enough money to take her to the opera in a limo. I'll bet Adela was heartbroken that her good, Catholic boy was a thug for a crime boss. Then, he needs to ask Michael if he's ready to break his mother's heart.
Alexis didn't talk to Michael about therapy, it was Sam she was talking to about Michael needing therapy. She actually was trying to apologize to him for her behavior at Jake's, then started insinuating that Michael was a bad influence on Kristina, when Michael blew a gasket, and Claudia came in to "take care" of Alexis. It is a shame, however, that Claudia is spot on about Kristina......
From Claudia's reaction I'd say she WAS Kristina when she was young. I also think Alexis did see some of the truth in what Claudia was trying to say ( she had a suprised look on her face) but she will never admit it not even to herself that Claudia could be right about anything. I hope she swallows her pride and realizes neither she nor her daughters are perfect before we have Claudia II running around.
Yeah, because Alexis won't listen to anything she says. Then, she'll be shocked when Kristina hooks up with her maybebrother. Even more shocked when she finds out that maybebrother IS Sonny's son. Kristina can tell her that she was just following in Alexis' footsteps, doing a set of brothers.
EEEWWWWW
It is sad that the people most removed from a situation seem to be the ones that see it clearly. Alexis was right that Michael needs help and maybe by talking to Sam, the message will get to Jason. Unfortunately Kristina is headed down the Claudia trail but hopefully someone (Sam and/or Jason) will stop her before it's too late. While Claudia is able to offer all kinds of insight into what Kristina may become, I didn't hear her say anything about trying to make herself over to be less unlikeable. She's old enough to know about and get some professional help. But no, she'd rather tell everyone else what their faults are and live in her own little bubble. She's really big on name calling and trash talking others for doing the same things she does. How sick is it that she puts up with how Sonny talks to her and now she's doing the same thing with Johnny? She has no moral center. She shows no remorse and her only way of dealing with people she doesn't like is to put a hit out on them.
Excellent points about Claudia. I don't know how, but they need to find a way to give some rooting value. Having her set up hit after botched hit to solve her problems isn't helping. It is great that Johnny is now manning up and telling her how it is. The only reason she is protective of Michael is because she's afraid he will remember her confessions while he was in a coma. She is coimpletely ungenuine, insecure, and obnoxious.
I think that in the fans mind there is no saving this character. No one wants to see Sam back with Jason because of what she allowed to happen to Jake. Claudia has done much, much worse and she continues to do and plan much, much worse. If the character is not being killed off, maybe an extended stay at Shadybrook or Ferncliffe could reinvent her. Maybe a bullet in her head could work as well.
You got it. If we can't forgive Sam (who we'd actually started to like) for what she did, how do the writers expect us to forgive Claudia? They've done nothing to give her rooting value. I do think in her own bizarre way, she does care about protecting Michael, but unlike most of the other "bad" characters, she'd never protect him over herself. I doubt she'd protect Johnny over herself either. If they're not going to do anything to redeem her, then either kill her or put her in one of the mental hospitals...or a yearlong coma.
I would LOVE to see Sam & Jason back together. I don't really get, though, how jason can put his son out of his life for his own safety, yet it is ok for all the other kids to be in his life and put into danger. Oh well, just more uneven, stupid writing.
I think Sam and Jason are better when they are just friends and there to help each other out of sticky situations. I really don't think they are going to get back together..jmo
I've actually forgiven Sam and never stopped liking her because I think she was a victim of the writer's for no good reason. I too would like to see them back together but if the writer's are actually true to the character's they created, or in this case the character's created by GH's good writer's back in the day, they can't put Sam and Jason back together. It would go against everything Jason stands for. It's truly sad cause Sam was the best girlfriend he had, and now that she's got a backbone again, it could really be great. As for Claudia, she's so unredeemable (sp) at this point. I don't think any thing could make the fans forgive or attempt to like her. They just keep pushing her too far. This stuff with Michael puts her way over the edge.
I agree, but they are going to try to do it & use Sonny's kids to do it. I don't know who she'll foul up trying to kill next. My guess is Dante, for 3 reasons. First, he fouled up her hit on Jason. She won't acknowledge that Johnny saved Jason. Second, he knows too much about her. He can tell Jason at any time that he was on orders from her. I'm also guessing he knows she ordered the hit that got Michael shot. The third reason has nothing to do with business & this is what may very well seal her coffin. She'll want to do it because he's Olivia's son. It'll only be when the hit's about to go down, or after it happens & fails that she finds out he's also Sonny's son. At that point, she'll want to kill herself too.
As for Michael, I really liked his scenes with Sonny. That's the Sonny we don't see enough of. Where he blew it was getting the car for Michael. That was stupid & all it translated to Michael was "this is what he thinks is going to make up for not letting me in the business?" Then, when he finds out he's being dumped at the Qs, he's going to think the car was a kiss off gift. He's going to be even angrier, only he'll have an expensive car & a road of innocent drivers to take it out on.
I agree completely. I understand Sonny's motivation when he got the car but ... he is rewarding Michael for being out of control, arguing with his parents etc. He's relearning very quickly how to play the adults against each other to get what he wants and this only reinforses that. They don't even know if Patrick will say he's well enough to learn how to drive..he did have a brain injury and road rage could be pretty deadly.
Okay, I just have to say that Michael's mouth is really getting on my last nerves. WTF....it seems like he has been screaming and yelling at the top of his lungs begging Jason and Sonny to let him join the business? WTF. How old did they make this kid? Please tell me he is not 16 or 17 begging to join the mob instead of begging for a car? Between Claudia's constant yelling, Sonny's constant yelling, and Michael's constant screaming/yelling/tantrums (don't care if the tantrums is a resut of the head thing or not), my head feels like it is going to explode everytime they are on. Hell, they might as well move Anthony Zagara to Sonny's house to live. If memory serves me right, he was also a screamer. And then lock the door behind him and they can all have a friggin screamfest at Sonny's house.
He's a 17 year old brat with brain damage & gets a new car. I hope Carly smacks the crap out of Sonny for being so ignorant. Who gives a kid like this a car? Michael needs Military school.

Maybe it will calm him down. Ok maybe he need something legal to make him calm him down. This kid needs new doctors. I really didn't want to like this new Michael. I get attached to my actors, & I really loved Cash. I can't believe I'm fixing to say this but. I like this new kid. What I don't like is the writers. Somebody needs to be fired at GH. This story needs the stupid stuff deleted for hitting print please.
