If you could eliminate one character (only one!) which character would you get rid of?

For me it's a toss up...but I can only pick one....Annie. I just don't find anything redeeming about her.

OMG!! This isn't a fair question. LOL....there are so many that need to go. It's a four-way tie for me. I would have to choose between Liza, Colby, Marissa & Ryan. But if I had no other choice, I would definitely get rid of Ryan. I absolutely hate this character, with an extreme passion.

I need more than one choice, because there are so many vomit inducing, uninteresting, unredeemable characters that really need to go...Just one huh???I pick the vile green gnat known as Greenlee..... There is just nothing about her that I want to see any longer...Tied with Ryass Lavery... That woman abusing jerk should have been gone long ago, but I also agree that Annie needs to make a fast exit......she's just overdue to go...Wait, I know... RyAnLee should go........is that answer okay...Oh yeah, it's time for the fake one to disappear....JL/Liza needs to exit with them and take Fake Colby, Gomer Scott, & Borissa with her....Sorry, couldn't just pick one....

Pine valley would be a much better place without those loathesome characters.....I'd keep Dr. David and free him from Frons princess....but that's just me...Bring back Zendall.... by way of TK/AMFire Frons, JHC, and get rid of the waste.....But again, that is JMO

It's a toss up between Greenlee, Ryan, and Marissa. Oops, I totally forgot about Liza and Colby. Oh, and Damon and Randi, who could be more interesting if given a decent storyline.

I think if they fired Frons, and hired some writers that would stay true to the history of the show and not just work by their own personal agendas, it wouldn't be so bad. Although, I'm still ok with Ryan Lavery leaving the show permanently. LOL

We keep saying Frons but what about Julie Hanan Carruthers. She can't be totally blameless in all of this mess.

Quote:We keep saying Frons but what about Julie Hanan Carruthers. She can't be totally blameless in all of this mess. About Julie Hanan Carruthers...She was once part of GH when it was at its zenith...early to mid nineties. Wendy Riche was EP, JHC associate producer,Francesca James was part of the team and there were two other females whose names escape me at present. During this time the production values at GH were comparable to primetime.(Nurses' Ball anyone?) The writing was superlative (Claire Labine was HW), and every actor chosen knew how to act. Almost all of them were Emmy worthy, there were no hair models. No one was the star of the show. There was balance. The show had a mixture of humor, wit, family, intrigue, corporate storylines. ELQ had board meetings that were funny and realistic at the same time. The hospital actually had medical drama, they had board meetings too. Remember Amanda Carrington?... Next to Lila Quatermaine one of the most elegant women on GH.So what's this to do with JHC? this was all before Frons. ABC at the time was not owned by Disney, it was owned by Capital Cities (Warren Buffett). Frons at the time couldn't get a job as dog catcher in the US. He was working in Europe at the time.ABC was sold to Disney..enter Frons, someone dug him out of the catacombs in Rome put him in charge of ABC. Along came Guza, Pratt and and away went Port Charles and Wendy Riche. Hello Jill Farren Phelps, (goodbye GH for me). And thus began the descent of ABC daytime.JHC learned from the best but one thing wasn't in existence when she learned and so she was and is not able to put into practice what she learned and that was Frons hand in everything. He is at the bottom of all that is wrong with ABC daytime. If she was allowed to produce and writers allowed to write without his micromanaging maybe ABC daytime would be watchable again....and maybe the odious Annie's, the useless Ryans , the ugly Greenlee and David's would all be gone and AMC would still be in NY with David Canary and Zach and Kendall and Dr. Joe.

I have to agree with Cararn on this one. I don't put the blame on JHC. This has Frons' fingerprints all over it. And I remember those days that you were talking about Cararn...those were the good old days. Ever since Frons has taken charge over at ABC things have gone downhill. I even found proof of this very fact on the internet. I posted it on another post...but ever since Frons has taken over, ABC daytime has had its lowest ratings in its history. He has completely ruined ABC daytime...and I pray that they will get rid of him soon, before he does any more damage, if that's even possible.Besides it makes total sense to move up the chain of the ladder....rather than constantly blaming the writers (even though they are responsible too) go to the man in charge of ABC daytime....and that would be Brian Frons.

You know, you both are right, because the material being written has to go through the brass first. I wonder ABC doesn't do anything about Frons if ratings are dropping like flies on his watch. If it was primetime TV he would have been out the door. So maybe Disney is not as invested in daytime tv as we would like them to be. Something else I thought about. Donna Swajeski said she worked with Frons at NBC when she was at AW. I won't lie. I loved her stories. They rocked!!! But what does that mean for AMC. Because she said that he had quite a bit of input in what came out onscreen. And her stint lasted only a few years I believe.

To play devil's advocated here, what if Frons himself is answering to a higher power, and HIS hands are tied?? All in all, ABC is a Disney Owned Network, and the Disney image is paramount, and probably in their working manifesto. No blacks, no jews, no gays. Implicit. Think about ABC as a whole, then wonder...it is really just Frons?? Or is there a larger engine running daytime ABC.

I think ABC is more gay friendly than the other networks as a whole. And let's face it...ABC Daytime has never had an overage of Africian Americans.

True, but check this out. I think Frons is behind this mess. I don't think the people above Frons could care less about Greenlee coming back or keeping Ryan front and center. I think the only thing that they care about are ratings. It is obvious that they care about the show, they moved it to LA and gave it bigger studios, and they moved OLTL into AMC's bigger studios. So there are investments being made. The network needs to realize that there are too many chiefs. Too many hands in the pots and someone needs to take their hands out.

By the way, look at ABC's primetime lineup. There is a gay couple, and two major Hispanic characters on Modern Family, lesbians and a gay couple on Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty was very gay friendly, a frontburner Asian couple on Lost, and when Boston Legal was on they had a little bit of everything on it. Shonda Rimes a black woman is he brains behind two of its biggest hits Grey's Anatomy and The Practice, both of which showcases black characters. The only thing you can say bad about ABC is there are not African Americans being represented. Before ABC hit the jackpot with Desperate Housewives and Lost, they actually fired the executives who were in charge because ratings were bad. So what is the deal with daytime. I am not getting it.

Don't forget about Brothers & Sisters....there is a gay couple that, that are front and center, and they are getting ready to have a baby.....so, so much for the whole destroying of Kish. ABC primetime is filled with gay friendly shows, so I don't get ABC Daytime....unless they are saying that the primetime viewing audience is more sophisticated than the daytime audience.Although, I do also agree that there is a huge lack of African-American representation on ABC daytime....hell, make that daytime in general. Not only is there a lack of African-Americans....there is a lack of any other minority group...but its been that way for quite some time. NBC once had the show 'Generations," which was a groundbreaking daytime soap opera that prominently featured African-Americans, but it was not given a chance to flourish, and NBC pulled the plug on it.Maybe one of these days we will have a soap on the air that features the world how it really is....a multi-cultural place

If I had to pick ONE character, I would pick Frons. He is a character, isn't he? No..well ok..It's a two way tie for me. Ryan and Greenlee. If I have to pick ONE...well maybe Ryan because Greenlee-Rebecca tends to come and go and Ryan-Cameron is always there. Annie is third...I know you asked for one). There are a gazllion annoying and useless characters on AMC but most of them do not eat up the screen.

I say bring back another tornado and wipe out most of the people in Pine Valley. Except, Tad, Jack, Erica (but please make her act close to her age) Kendell, JR, Jake, Amanda, Opal, Jessie, Angie, Frank, Krystal...thats all I can think of that I want to live.

I don't know....Jake is really starting to bother me, here lately. Does he ever work at the hospital? He's either spending all his time playing with Ryan or spending his entire day at Fusion. Not a true representation of a doctor's life.

I loved how Brot hit that guy yesteday. He is soo sexy to me. I think they need to give him a little more color and flesh him out more because he is HOT!!! In fact, Jesse, Angie, and Natalia were the most entertaining part of the show. I did not ff through their scenes. And finally, Natalia showed a little personality. THey were cute

See, that's the problem that AMC has right now....there are way too many characters that the fans would like to see disappear from the canvas. You can't have a show filled with unlikable characters and expect it to be a success. I wouldn't mind seeing Marissa, Liza, Colby, Scott, Annie, Madison & Ryan disappear from the show. I'm not going to say Greenlee, because I know that won't happen. So, why waste my breath....Although, I think the whole Greenlee situation will work itself out, come the summer. I've realized what makes this character work... Greenlee needs Kendall, to survive on the show....But the character of Kendall can do just fine without Greenlee. The writers rely on the "supposed friendship" that these two characters share, to try and make them work. The only problem with this equation is, when Kendall's not on the show, it makes the hatrid the fans have for Greenlee jet off into unbelivable heights. The reason for this is the character of Kendall has grown over the years....she's calmed down a bit, fallen in love and had a family...so she has evolved into a woman that the fans can relate to, and one that they trully root for and love. Greenlee, on the other hand, has not changed one bit from the spiteful young lady that first arrived in Pine Valley, years ago. Let her fall in love with David, and make the fans actually believe it....give her a child to raise, let us see a sensitive side, underneath all of that anger and hatrid. It's time for her to grow up and make some changes. This whole coming back from the dead should have been an experience of "Life is too short, so cherish it while you can." Instead of, I'll crush everyone underneath my pumps, and smile while I'm doing it. I am so over that, with this character. And until she shows some real growth and real changes, I will still want this character to sail off another cliff and explode into a million pieces.
